Since last week, a debate that shouldn’t be happening is.
The –was a keynote speaker along with the spiritual leader of Hezbollah (Sheikh Mohammed Fadlallah) at a Hezbollah event. But he and the predictable Islamo-fascists, CAIR’s Dawud Walid and “former” terrorist Imad Hamad, claim there’s no evidence he’s connected with terrorists.
Puh-leeze.
Chahine admittedly gave money to the group for “orphans.” Missing words: “Of the martyrs.” Whether or not he knew where the money was really going–and you have to be a complete imbecile to think he was unaware–is not relevant. In 1996, Bill Clinton signed into law a package of counterterrorism law that made it illegal to give money to Hezbollah (and other Islamic terrorist groups), regardless of the alleged (and usually phony) purpose.

But U.S. Attorney not only did NOT seek a count for violating that law in the grand jury indictment of Chahine, but he let Chahine flee the country. Why not and why? Generally when a man has his property raided by federal agents twice in a few months, he knows he better get going. If Murphy really wanted him, he’d have gotten his ham sandwich indictment right away, as in before the raids ever happened.
But it appears Murphy didn’t really want Chahine to stay here and answer charges. That would mean Chahine would be subject to questions about , an Iranian agent and conduit to Hezbollah spiritual leader Fadlallah. And questions about how his mosque was funded.
And questions about why he lied on his application for U.S. citizenship, failing to disclose that he is an agent of Hezbollah and the Government of Iran. And questions about whether Imam Elahi was helping in laundering money to Fadlallah and Hezbollah. Sources say that Elahi is off-limits at Detroit area international ports (Detroit Metro Airport, the Ambassador Bridge, and the Tunnel). He’s not subject to the rigorous searches and questioning reserved for the Little Old Lady from Pasadena and blonde chicks like me.

At a court hearing, an IRS agent held up a photo of Chahine with Hezbollah’s Fadlallah. And yet, Mr. Elahi’s own proudly displayed photo with Fadlallah, taken during a visit to Lebanon a year ago, doesn’t seem to be of any concern to Murphy. Why should it be? and gave him enthusiastic applause and kudos, including when Elahi praised Hezbollah.
As I noted previously, Chahine’s contributions were not directly to Hezbollah, but to Al Mabarrat Association. It has a Dearborn, Michigan affiliate, Al Mabarat Charitable Organization (note the U.S. version uses one “r”, the Lebanese version–two “r”s). Al Mabarrat Association is clearly an open front for Hezbollah, and has Fadlallah’s photo on its website front and center. Despite that, U.S. Attorney and the IRS refuse to prosecute the U.S. branch of the charity for apparently violating the law and apparently donating the money to Hezbollah. And the State Department and Office of Foreign Assets Control and the Department of Treasury refuses to put either the Lebanese or American charity on the State Department terrorist list. On the contrary, the U.S. government allows it to operate and has licensed it as a 501(c)(3) tax-deductible organization, subsidized by American taxpayers.
Al Mabarat Charitable Organization’s Dearborn officers–Fouad T. Beydoun, Ahmad J. Bazzi, and Nazem Baydoun–are from families that all come from Bint Jbeil, the Hezbollah stronghold in the South of Lebanon. Al Mabarat Charitable Organization’s taxes show annual outlays of close to $1 million, but improperly fail to provide a separate schedule listing where the money went. Where is the money going?

To those who think the indictment of Talal Chahine will result in anything, think again. His indictment was about PR, NOT justice.
Let’s not forget that Hezbollah not only murdered over 300 U.S. Marines and American civilians in Lebanon, tortured Col. Higgins, U.S. Embassy Attache William Buckley, and U.S. Navy diver Robert Stethem to death, hijacked TWA 847, and blew up the Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina (with a similar attempt at the Israeli Embassy in Argentina), but today, Hezbollah is working with Al-Qaeda. Hezbollah trains the Qaeda insurgents in Iraq that are murdering our soldiers, and Hezbollah has provided the IEDs (explosives) that blow them up. Hezbollah also participated in the bombing of the Khobar Towers.
Many of us haven’t forgotten, but our spineless, despicable feds in charge in Detroit apparently have.
And to all the idiots who keep telling the Detroit media that they will continue to eat at La Shish–because the owner’s tight association with Hezbollah’s leader is not enough evidence that he’s tied to terror–we say, there is a place on the O.J. jury for you, too.
If only these stupid restaurant patrons chose to drink at Jim Jones’ bar rather than continue to eat at La Shish and support a bloody terrorist group. Society would have been far better served.

California smoked France Wednesday in a cross-continental tasting of wines that have matured in cellars for three decades. The California Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines placed first through fifth, followed by four wines from France’s hallowed Bordeaux region and then another California Cab.

The occasion marked the 30th anniversary of “The Judgment of Paris,” a tasting by French and British judges that pitted California against Bordeaux Cabernet Sauvignons on May 24, 1976.
In that slosh heard round the world, the 1973 Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars S.L.V. Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon scored higher than its French counterparts. At the same time, a taste-off of California Chardonnays and Chardonnay-based white Burgundies from France resulted in another stunner when the 1973 Chateau Montelena Napa Valley Chardonnay won.
When writer George M. Taber reported the outcome in Time magazine, California gained instant recognition as a world-class wine region. The French saved face by saying, “Our wines will improve with time. But these California wines will not age well. They will tire quickly, lose their character, lose their balance.”
“Phooey” was the answer from Wednesday’s tastings. Two panels of wine professionals — one in Napa at Copia: The American Center for Wine, Food & the Arts, the other at wine merchant Berry Bros. & Rudd in London — simultaneously evaluated the same 10 wines tasted in the 1976 Paris event.

To oenophiles everywhere, forget the French. It’s time to populate your wine collection with Californian.

We’re not fans of sappy karaoke show, “American Idol.” It’s getting old.
But we did watch last night’s finale, and thought it was well done and entertaining. More important, it gave all of America a taste of the ever-dominant Girlie-Man America that is quickly conquering the few masculine men left in America . . . and especially American showbiz. Are there any real men left in Hollywood? Hard to tell, based on last night’s “American Idol.”
First, there was Barry Manilow, Jr. a/k/a Clay Aiken, a past Idol runner-up singing with his look-alike potential future boyfriend. But worse, the end of the show gave us a glimpse of David Hasselhoff crying. Crying over a seriously ill relative, a Holocaust documentary, or even the movie, “,” is one thing, but over an effeminate karaoke contest like “American Idol”? Yes, even the cheesy, exaggerated machismo of Mr. “Baywatch” and “Knight Rider” has melted. He, too, is a girlie-man.

And it should be no surprise. This is the kind of man that showbiz types like Madonna have wrought. Like many other vapidoids who inhabit Hollyood, “the Material Girl”–in her two-decades-plus career–showed the women (and men) I grew up with that men were good for only a few limited roles:
* Sperm donor and/or sex toy;
* If they were flamingly gay and well-chiseled, dancer on her concert tour;
* Middle age husband to make failed movies and wear silly white outfits, while accompanying her on phony Kabbalah sessions; and
* Whorish rabbi to take her money for “absolution” and use it to expand his Kabbalah Center, er . . . Porsche collection.
If your son, grandchild, or nephew watches “American Idol”–and many boys do–they’re hardly getting a good example of manhood. Unless that includes lots of mousse, pastel clothes, purple crushed-velvet blazers, and crying over a karaoke contest. Remember, about a third of the TV-audience, last night, was tuned in.
The kind of men Madonna and the rest of Hollywood wrought on America, which is fast becoming “Girlie-Man Nation.”

Is Oprah Winfrey “the new Mother Teresa with hipper clothes”?
recently posited that absurdity and other similar verbal gushing about the “Queen of Daytime Talk.”
But her vapid tour of Auschwitz, broadcast yesterday, said it all. After more than two decades on the air, Oprah finally discovered the Holocaust. After more urgent, worthy show topics–“Teens Addicted to Oral Sex,” “Gospel Singer Addicted to Porn,” “the Gorgeous Men of Decorating,” and “Oprah & Stedman Visit the Dog Whisperer with their Doggie Daughter”–finally there was time for the Holocaust.
And when it was finally time, Oprah couldn’t just present Auschwitz. Nope, the billionairess needed to make extra money on this episode to make it worth her while. This show was Oprah’s Holocaust “as brought to you by the NEW AT&T.” Yes, the show had a special sponsor. Oprah has discovered that lucrative left-wing business known as “Holocash.” Cry over dead Jews from 60 years ago, but no mercy for the live ones in Israel under siege from the new Nazism of Islamic terror.

The show would have been best called “Oprah’s Echo Show.” It was largely author Elie Wiesel saying things with Oprah repeating them in an over-acted whisper.

Oprah: Three to a bunk. . . .
Wiesel: Straw.
Oprah: Straw. . . .
Wiesel: There were trees.
Oprah: There were trees.
Wiesel: But we didn’t look at them.
Oprah: But you didn’t look at them.

There were also multiple overdramatic Oprah attempts at high-brow pretension about the Holocaust–the kind you’d hear at an underground, independent coffee house trying desperately to compete with Starbucks. Only this time, the guy in the disheveled corduroy blazer and “No Nukes” pin reciting the psychobabble poem is Oprah.

Oprah told Wiesel that she will help the memory of the Holocaust live on, and the show was “Dedicated to Future Generations – We Will Never Forget.”
Never forget? Memory of the Holocaust lives on? She’s already forgotten. Only the week before, she did a glowing show on the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the world’s most anti-Semitic country.

The alleged premise of the show was, “The World’s Youngest Queen,” Queen Rania of Jordan (she’s Palestinian). But that was the ruse to present viewers with features on several carefully selected Jordanian women whose message was: “Life in Jordan is just like yours.” The women spoke perfect English with nary an accent. Just like us. They had careers and ordered Domino’s Pizza. Just like us. And they and their husbands who love them are watching their weight. Just like us.
Oprah gushed so much over Queen Rania and her beauty, it was hard to remember she is from the Islamic Middle East. And that was the point. Oprah has been working overtime to promote Jordan and Islam. This is Rania’s second Oprah appearance in five years, with the first on an “Islam 101” episode just after 9/11.
But here’s the real Jordan you didn’t–and will never–see on Oprah:
A 2005 Pew Research Center survey of 17,000 people found that Jordan is the most anti-Semitic country in the world. Not just 95% of its people have unfavorable views of Jews. It is 100%. 41% of them don’t like Christians either.
Queen Rania’s largely Palestinian country (a demographic not mentioned on Oprah) didn’t just beat the world in hatred for the Jews. Jordan leads in support for homicide bombings AND confidence in Osama Bin Laden “to do the right thing.”
A whopping 88% of Jordanians support suicide bombings. That’s up from 2002, when “only” 65% of Jordanians supported this “method” of dealing with perceived problems. Then, there’s Bin Laden. 80% of Jordanians have “confidence in Osama Bin Laden to do the right thing regarding world affairs.” 57% of Jordanians said “violence against civilians in defense of Islam is justified.”
Just like us?
Rania told Oprah that while Jordanians don’t like U.S. policies, “they love America and Americans.” Really? Pew Research says the country is the most anti-American in the world, with 79% viewing the U.S. unfavorably. Rania claimed women in her country are different and will end Mid-East violence. Pew Research found Jordanian women held the same hateful viewpoints as men.
Oprah, on her show and in her magazine, has called Queen Rania a “hero” for becoming queen. But there is nothing heroic about marrying a king or being beautiful. And there’s nothing heroic about whitewashing a country whose degree of anti-Semitism surpasses even that of Nazi Germany at the height of the Holocaust.
So did Oprah really learn the lessons of the Holocaust, when her show, her magazine, her media empire are used to promote the new Nazism and ignore its victims?
Don’t ask Elie Wiesel. He’s too busy basking in the afterglow of an hour-long Oprah appearance. And recovering from her meaningless echo chamber.

But we remember that the show he formerly hosted was not originally called “Nightline.” It was called “America Held Hostage, Day [X].” It was a nightly count and report on the siege on the U.S. Embassy in Iran and the kidnapping of American hostages in the late 1970s.

Today’s USA Today spends its entire op-ed page on an interview with Mr. Burns a/k/a Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff. USA Today’s questions were softballs. They glaringly did not even mention the just-released .
He says a lot of things. He claims US-VISIT, which requires U.S. entrants to put their fingerprints on a computer screen, works to stop terrorists–it DOES NOT, and doesn’t track anyone very well once they disappear into the abyss. He says, “Sealing the border is a tall order.” We’re glad he can rhyme when making excuses for not getting the job done.
To all this and the rest of his interview, we say, Don’t Believe the Hype. All Talk and NO Action.

Tampa ABC Action News reports that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, our “ally in the War on Terror,” is picking up Almanajam’s and Alsidran’s legal fees in the entire trial on their misdemeanors for trespassing on the bus. The Saudis will not plea, but will have fancy lawyers fighting the charges courtesy of the Kingdom. The Saudi government also paid the legal fees of accused terrorist Sami Omar Al-Hussayen, helping him beat an incompetent Justice Dept. on well-founded charges of running websites for terror groups, etc. (More about the men, and .)
To those who say their boarding of a bus (one in a trench coat in the hot Florida weather) was not a dry run for a school bus hijacking, we suggest they look at the testimony of Islamic D.C. Sniper Lee Malvo, yesterday, in Muhammad’s ongoing trial.

When Malvo asked Muhammad why, “he said for the sheer terror of it. The worst thing you can do to people is aim at their children,” Malvo testified.

We know that children have been targeted by Islamic terrorist not just in the Beslan massacre, but–attention, Oprah!–in Ma’alot, Israel, where dozens of school children were slaughtered on school buses.
And the Saudi royal family is paying for the lawyers of the two Saudi men. Gee, I wonder why.

Yet another sign of America asleep at the wheel:
Yesterday’s proud event at New York’s Ground Zero should have been the number one story on newscasts and top cover story in newspapers around the country. But it wasn’t.
What happened at Ground Zero was cause for celebration. The first skyscraper rebuilt after being destroyed in the 9/11 attacks opened. Developer Larry Silverstein cut a ribbon to a 52-story steel and glass building at 7 World Trade Center, while an Irish tenor sang “God Bless America.” The building was the third to fall after the twin towers went down.
Today’s New York Post calls Silverstein a patriot for having the guts to rebuild, even though he lost so much and filling the skyscraper with tenants will be tough. We agree.

Hey, Bin Laden . . . .
Once all the remains were gathered and the investigation of the site finished, rebuilding on Ground Zero should have quickly begun and made a priority. It would have been the best message possible to Bin Laden and his Al-Qaeda compatriots. But squabbling, instead, has held back most of it.
Reports say that despite the fact that Silverstein has rented less than a fifth of the building’s 1.7 million square feet, he is plodding ahead to develop all of the 16-acre site by 2012.
That is what America is about–building things up, not crashing planes into buildings to bring us all down. Too bad the mainstream media didn’t think this momentous occasion merited more than a backpage blurb at most.

We’re in possession of a memo written by one of the top immigration enforcement officials in the nation, , Director of Investigations for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) a/k/a “Peppermint Patty.”
We find the memo (which we’d post, but the typeface on our copy is too light to be readable online)–regarding calls to assist in the arrest of illegal aliens–to be a band-aid memo. And too little, too late. The memo, dated May 16, is not dated May 16, 2003 or even May 16, 2004. Nope. It’s dated May 16, 2006. So we’d like to ask Peppermint Patty:

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?

And why can’t you call them what they are–“ILLEGAL aliens”? Here’s some of the memo:

This memorandum will serve as guidance to all Office of Investigations (OI) personnel on reponse to calls for service involving undocumented alien(s).

She goes on to tell agents that they are to assist on all local and state law enforcement calls for illegals . . . OOPS, “undocumenteds”. And they must process each and every one of the aliens, checking their documents and identities to protect national security.
We agree, and wonder why her boss, girl from the mall, at the beginning of the year. Maybe, it’s because this memo was meant to get into the hands of people like me, at the height of criticism of ICE and Bush Administration inaction on the illegal alien problem. This memo makes it look like she’s doing something. When she isn’t.
Unfortunately, Peppermint Patty writes in bold that,

The lack of bed space is not a sufficient reason for not responding to a request for assistance.

But it IS a sufficient reason to continue with the silly shell game of “catch-and-release” of illegal aliens. And that’s why the key and most dangerous part of Peppermint Patty’s instructions are hidden on the second page:

If all criminal and DHS systems checks reveal no derogatory information on the detainee, it is expected that the agents complete the administrative processing . . . and, if applicable, issue a Notice to Appear (NTA). [DS: Agents call these Notices to DISAppear.] Depending on available bed space, and after consultation with the Office of Deportation and Removal Operations (DRO), a determination of bond (NTA/WA) or release on the alien’s own recognizance (NTA/ROR), will be made.

Notices to (Dis)Appear? Releasing aliens on their own recognizance? Does this sound to you like our government is really serious about finally beginning to stem the tides of illegal aliens? All of the National Guard troops on the border won’t change a thing if this is the state of interior “enforcement.”
And that’s the glaring problem present in Homeland Security Inspector General Richard Skinner’s latest report: “Detention and Removal of Illegal Aliens.” Although it is dated April 14th, it was released to the public on May 18th, and it is highly disturbing. We only wish Ms. Forman-Friedman would read it. It is a scathing audit of ICE’s release of illegal aliens who are linked to terrorist countries and/or are violent criminals.
We think it’s interesting that, last fall, Forman-Friedman that they had an important role in the Global War on Terror. Apparently, the role is to allow terrorists to stay free on our shores.
A brief summary: Skinner’s 52-page report says:

* A lack of detention space (beds), personnel, money, and legal obstacles have created “an official ‘mini-amnesty'” for illegal alien criminals and those from coutnries tied to terorrism.
* While an estimated 605,000 illegal alien inmates will go to local and state jails/prisons, half of them–while deportable when they complete their sentences–will mostly be set free into the great American abyss.
* An estimated 45,000 cases of illegal immigrants from terror-linked countries were released to the American alien frontier between fiscal
2001 and the first five months of 2005.
* More than 544,000 who have final deportation orders to leave the country are, instead, missing in America.

Skinner says that to halt the problem of the most high-risk illegal aliens, 35,000 more beds would be needed, costing $1.1 billion, for a total of 56,000 beds (DHS/ICE currently has just over 21,000).
So will ICE do anything to address this problem of terrorists and criminals going free? Not if is any indication.
Marcy Forman concludes her memo by saying:

When aliens who pose a threat to our nation are identified, all of our law enforcement authorities, both criminal and adminstrative, must be brought to bear. A failure to meet this obligation will only serve to diminish our [ICE’s] credibility in the law enforcement community and to further undermine the immigration process.

Credibility? Richard Skinner’s audit says otherwise.
