A longtime friend e-mailed me:

Do you suppose Obama could have visited at least one American war dead cemetery while in France, especially since this is his first trip there as President? I guess it doesn’t fit in well with his agenda of apologizing for American “arrogance.”

But it’s even worse than my friend suggested. In fact, Barack Hussein Obama was urged by French President Nicholas Sarkozy to visit the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, where American soldiers who gave their lives in WWII’s invasion at Normandy are buried. But he declined so as not to offend Germany and Britain. HUH?
Yes, he’s now so worried what the walking-dead Europeans think that an American President won’t visit the graves of those who gave their lives for America (and, I might add, for Germany and Britain–without us, they might not be here).

White House officials travelled to France at the start of March to discuss a visit by Mr Obama to Omaha Beach, the site of the American Cemetery, established in 1944 just after D-Day and where 9,387 American personnel are buried. Among them is Theodore Roosevelt Jr the eldest son of the 26th US President.
French officials and senior American military officers walked with White House staff through the cemetery discussing how the two presidents might follow the same route. But even before their trip, the White House had decided that Mr Obama would not travel there this week.
“It wasn’t going to happen,” said an American official in Washington. “We went through the motions to placate President Sarkozy but giving special treatment to France was not on our agenda.
“During this trip, we wanted to maintain a balance between the British, German and France”. A White House spokesman in London declined to comment. Last month, White House officials briefed that a Normandy visit had been considered but it had not been logistically possible. . . .
According to French reports, Mr Obama was to visit the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial at Colleville-sur-mer, just north of Omaha Beach. The pair were apparently to have dined at the nearby chateau de Benouville in Caen.
The White House rejected the offer.

Yes, this is the new “symmetry” of the Obama administration. Tit-for-tat bean counting silliness. If you visit the American war dead in France, then you are somehow showing favoritism against Germany and Britain. But if you visit the queen and a school in Britain, you aren’t showing favoritism? The logic isn’t there.
And please don’t tell me about how the Prez is going back to France, this summer, for the 65th anniversary of the Normandy invasion. There is never an inappropriate time for an American President to visit the graves of those who gave their lives so we could be free.
A cemetery visit should have been among the visits in Europe.
And by cemetery visit, I don’t mean Michelle Obama’s tour of a Jewish cemetery in Prague.
If the Obamas had time for that, they certainly had time for our fallen troops.
By the way, you know who else Obama might offend in a visit to the Normandy American Cemetery?
Well, there are lots of crosses and a number of Jewish stars marking the graves of those who died there. But guess what there aren’t a lot of? Islamic crescents. In fact, there may not be any at all.

As I recently told you, yesterday was supposed to be the day that Nazi mass murderer John Demjanjuk was finally be deported from America. The key phrase: “supposed to be.”
That’s because Demjanjuk has been gaming America and its immigration laws for more than a half-century. And even with a final deportation order, he continues to game the system.
I knew it was too good to be true, when I read that the 89-year-old Demjanjuk was scheduled to be shipped away from America, yesterday. And it was. His lawyers requested a stay on Friday, which a judge granted, giving him more time in America. Demjanjuk’s legal team claimed that after all these decades defrauding American and fighting to stay here after he got caught, he’s simply too frail and old to be deported now.

There are so many other Nazis for whom this absurd “too old and frail” defense works. Nazi Johann Leprich snuck in and out of Canada (post-9/11) and hid under the staircase of his suburban Detroit home. When he was finally caught, he too fought the system, until he was too “old, frail, and mentally incompetent” to go, his lawyers successfully impressed upon a judge.
A gullible judge granted the stay for Demjanjuk on Friday, but just hours ago, the stay was revoked. I wouldn’t hold my breath, though, about actually seeing Demjanjuk stepping off American terra firma once and for all. He just announced he’s appealing the revocation of the stay.
Demjanjuk’s fight to stave off deportation has lasted decades. And like many other Nazis we’ve caught living in our midst, he’s largely succeeded, enjoying a long life on American soil.
He won’t give that up without going down fighting. And so the fight continues.
Meanwhile, John Demjanjuk nears the age of 90, while most of his victims never got to see even a fraction of that number of years. And he may yet die on American soil.
As I’ve noted before, to date, the only real punishment John Demjanjuk ever got from anyone was when Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Detention and Removal Operations officials detained Demjanjuk in their facilities for a few months.
And compared to the camps in which his victims died, ICE DRO facilities are palaces.
As I’ve noted, even if Demjanjuk finally gets sent away, his life has been lived. He didn’t suffer. Just two weeks ago, ICE deported Nazi Josias Kumpf from Wisconsin. Kumpf took part in the shooting over 8,000 people at the Trawniki labor camp in Poland.
But he’s 83, now. Like Demjanjuk, he gamed the system for years, living the good life in America.
Sending him back to Austria, even if for trial, is not justice for his victims at this point in his long life.
When it’s this hard to deport a Nazi from our shores, multiply that by thousands (of other aliens we’re trying to rid from U.S. soil), and you know why our immigration system is a mess.

While Barack Obama is busy in Turkey continuing the same pandering to Islam that we heard for the last eight years from Bush, we also continue to pander to our Islamic enemies here.
The latest is the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s decision to change the name of the new World Trade Center from “Freedom Tower” to One World Trade Center.
It’s bad enough that it’s taken this long to rebuild on the site where 3,000 Americans were murdered by Arab Muslims. But even worse is the decision that the name would be changed to a simple address, because we don’t want to anger the enemy. The Port Authority’s “logic” is that calling it “Freedom Tower” would make it more of a terrorist target.

Someone might want to remind them that on the two occasions–in 1993 and 2001–when it was attacked by terrorists, it was called the World Trade Center, not “Freedom Tower.” Adding the number One to the name or changing it away from “freedom” won’t make terrorists hate us any less. In fact, it will make them hate us more. They see what sniveling, pandering idiots we are.
If I could name the tower, I’d call it the Freedom’s One Finger Salute Tower, America Greets Freedom’s Enemies Tower, or Al-Qaeda Welcoming Center. And I’d have designed it with a different type of “spire.” I asked David Lunde to make the three designs above of how the building would look if I could design it.

Those who insisted on the name change from Freedom Tower to One World Trade Center simply don’t understand Islam. The only thing Muslims understand is courage and brute force.
It’s ironic that the decision on the name change was announced by Port Authority, Chairman Anthony Coscia, which is pronounced “Koh-Sha.” Hey, Tony, you’re pandering to Islam on the site where it murdered thousands of Americans is absurd. It just ain’t Coscia.
Oh, and one other thing: the new tower will be 1,776 feet high. Gee, I wonder what happened in 1776.
Presumably, to the namers of this tower, the irony was lost. To them, neither 1776 nor the ability to freely rebuild after a devastating attack on America, represent freedom.

Hmmm . . . I guess Christmas and New Year’s Day should be crossed off the federal holiday schedule.
After all, according to the speech Barack Hussein Obama (and he’s now using the middle name in Europe–you know, the one we weren’t allowed to use) gave in Islamic Turkey, America isn’t a Christian nation, anymore.

Obama said “one of the great strengths of the United States” is that it does not consider itself “a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values. I think modern Turkey was founded with a similar set of principles.”

Although Muslim Mustafa Kemal Ataturk made Turkey far more secular than the Islamic Ottoman Empire whence it came, it’s a Muslim country. There’s a reason the Turkish flag is emblazoned with a giant crescent over a smaller star–the symbol of Islam. And it’s getting more and more so, as Islamists continue to overtake it.
So, it’s ironic that as Obama claims we are no longer a Christian nation, he compares us to one that is fast returning to an Islamic caliphate.
And Obama contradicted himself. On the one hand, he described Turkey as “a predominantly Muslim nation” and America as “a predominantly Christian nation.” Then, he went on to say that America is not a Christian nation and that Turkey is, somehow–as it moves to more and more radicalism–a secular nation that is “a Western nation.” PUH-LEEZE. Turkey is moving ever away from the West as fast as it can.
For a Harvard grad, Barack Obama sure is an ignoramus. And a dangerous ignoramus at that.
**** UPDATE: A number of readers and other conservatives are upset with Barack Hussein Obama for saying, “We are not at war with Islam,” and making other pandering statements to the Islamic world.
Yup, the statements are disgusting. But you know what? They were just as disgusting–no, more so–for the last eight years when Republican President George W. Bush said them, even after Muslims murdered 3,000 Americans on U.S. soil. And when Presidential candidate George W. Bush said these statements as he outpandered then-candidate Al Gore to get the Islamic nod from extremist Muslim groups in Dearbornistan, made up of open Hezbollah and HAMAS supporters.
And where were all of you then? Where were you, indeed.
Of course, we are at war with Islam. But more importantly, Islam is at war with us. It has always been at war with us. For centuries. And it always will be.
And until one of our leaders recognizes that–and a Republican President and now a Democrat fail to see this–we are doomed. And then, we will be doomed anyway. Because it is already too late.

I told you so. I warned you. I said this jury, with a guy whose son-in-law is Muslim, would find Youssef Megahed not guilty for carrying pipe bombs in the back of the car in which he was traveling apparently toward New York for a terrorist attack, early the next morning (not on the military base as people originally thought and the prosecutor still maintained). I also told you that the prosecution deliberately left out a ton of evidence that proved these guys–Megahed and his friend Ahmed Mohamed–were terrorists and conspirators, both of them. And I told you about the extremist makeover his he gave himself, dumping his radical Islamic facial hair.
And, sadly, I was right. Sorry to say, but most terrorism juries in America are made up of morons. The kind O.J. Simpson had in his criminal murder trial.
Now, he’ll get to become a U.S. citizen. The whole Islamic world is laughing at us. America simply doesn’t have the guts or the collective common sense to survive.

Nearly 20 months after he was first thrust into the national spotlight as a potential terrorist, Youssef Megahed gave a serene smile when a federal jury acquitted him this afternoon of federal explosives charges.

[He] said he now plans to complete his studies. . . .
Although Megahed never explicitly faced a terrorism charge, federal prosecutors said the case was implicitly about terrorism. Codefendant Ahmed Mohamed pleaded guilty to helping terrorists and is serving 15 years in federal prison for posting on YouTube a video in which he demonstrated how to use a remote-controlled toy to detonate a bomb.
Megahed and Mohamed are both from Egypt; Megahed is a legal, permanent resident, who has been in this country with his family since he was 11; Mohamed had been here on a student visa for about six months when the pair were first arrested Aug. 4, 2007. . . .
Jurors, who deliberated about 22 hours over four days, struggled with just how much responsibility to attribute to Megahed. Late this morning, they sent a question to the judge: “Does a guilty verdict require a finding that the defendant was a knowing and willful participant in the crime, or is a finding of knowledge that a crime was being committed sufficient?” . . .
After the verdict, Samir Megahed shook the hands of at least one of the prosecutors and an FBI agent. . . . Samir then brought his son to shake the judge’s hand.
“I hope he does well from here on out,” Merryday said.

So, the identity of the shooter at the American Civic Association has been learned: Jiverly Voong, 42, had just lost his job at IBM.
But there’s an interesting piece of info that’s come out in the reporting and it may point to immigration fraud at the center.
One point of immigration law that isn’t enforced nearly enough is that those seeking citizenship must take the citizenship test in English. There are few exceptions, like if the applicant mentally incompetent. But there’s a reason the citizenship test prep book below is in English . . . AND Spanish. Too many people who don’t speak English game the system and get citizenship.
But it looks like most of those who were at the American Civic Association at the time of the rampage didn’t speak English. And yet, most were there to take the citizenship test.

Hmmm . . .

The gunman entered a room just off the reception area and continued firing, the chief said. He fired on a citizenship class, Rep. Hinchey said.
“People were there in the process of being tested for their citizenship,” Hinchey said in a telephone interview. “It was in the middle of a test. He just went in and opened fire.”
Twenty-six people hid in a boiler room and 37 people were safely removed from the building, Zikuski said. Four people are in critical condition.
Most of the people brought out of the building couldn’t speak English, the chief said.

Yes, some of the people were there in an English class, but how many who couldn’t speak English were among those taking the citizenship test?
Probably more than you’d think.

Boy do I miss Australian Prime Minister John Howard. He was conservative. He wasn’t politically correct on Islam (and told Bono where to go on Gitmo). He was mostly a good guy, who had the guts to warn America not to elect Barack Obama. Oh, and he didn’t abuse the help.
Now, he’s been replaced by this crazy, uber-lefty nutjob Kevin Rudd, who reduced a flight attendant to tears over his vegetarian “special meal.” As someone who’s flown many flights where my (kosher) “special meal” was not on the plane as ordered, it’s not that big of a deal. Once you land, there’s plenty of food on planet earth. You get over it. This isn’t a day-long famine.

But that’s not the way this unhinged far-leftist sees it. Is this really the behavior of a Prime Minster of a Western, English-speaking nation? Neither I, nor my friend, Brett Winterble of Covert Radio Show (thanks for the tip) think so:

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has downplayed reports that he reduced a young female RAAF cabin attendant to tears with a tirade of abuse because he did not get a meal he wanted during a VIP flight.
An official report was filed by the flight crew about the behaviour of VIP No. 1 – Mr Rudd – after the flight from Port Moresby to Canberra in late January, The Daily Telegraph reports.
Mr Rudd, who had attended the Pacific Islands Forum, was told by the 23-year-old flight attendant that his request for a “special” meal – he is on a meat-free diet – could not be met.
Sources said the PM reacted “strongly” and a heated exchange followed. The attendant burst into tears and reported the matter to the senior cabin attendant.
She later composed herself and continued with the in-flight service.
“The crew were distressed but later in flight apologies were made by all,” the report says.
But when he was asked about the incident at the conclusion of the G20 summit in the British capital today, Mr Rudd said he did not “observe” any tears over the matter. . . .
Mr Rudd said that as he recalled, he told a member of the crew not to worry about the language he had used. . . .
The PM’s chief spin doctor, Lachlan Harris, initially tried to cover up the incident with a flat denial that it had even occurred.
But the report by the Commander of the VIP fleet, Group Capt Peter Wood, leaves no doubt about Mr Rudd’s behaviour.
It says cabin crew on board the taxpayer-funded Boeing 737 VIP aircraft were not even aware of Mr Rudd’s special meal request.
Mr Rudd has been losing weight and is on a non-red meat and fruit only dessert diet.
It is not the first unsavoury incident involving Mr Rudd and RAAF cabin crew.
During a flight between Sydney and Canberra last June he became “extremely irritated” when the only food on offer was gourmet sandwiches, rather than a hot meal, a source said.
The Boeing 737 VIP jet costs more than $28,000 an hour to run and the first-class service includes the best available food, wine, spirits and beer.
The Port Moresby-Canberra flight would have cost taxpayers about $150,000.

Dude, take a chill pill. And a giant dose of humility. I love how liberals like Rudd–who clearly think they’re more important than the little people–constantly claim to be the champions of the little people.
But the faux populism of liberals is usually betrayed by their actions.

When I was an undergrad at The University of Michigan, one of my favorite professors was a guy named Gregory Markus. He was very liberal, but unlike the rest of the academics at Michigan, he judged me on how I thought, not what I thought. And that’s why I got “A”s in both the classes I took from him. He was the kind of liberal professor you want and don’t get much of in America’s universities. Greg Markus was also the chief of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research (ISR) and did a lot of interesting political surveys there.
Now, however, the guy who’s been heading ISR is a far-left ideologue who is the exact opposite of Professor Markus. Robert Groves isn’t interested in hard numbers, but in “adjustments” and other figments of the imagination.
And unfortunately, he’s Barack Obama’s new Census Bureau director. When he was at the Census previously, from 1990 to 1992, Groves recommended that the 1990 Census be “adjusted up” to make up for an alleged undercount of five million people who are allegedly minorities and the poor a/k/a Obama voters. Thankfully, then-Commerce Secretary and Republican, Robert Mosbacher, overruled him and called this attempt “political tampering.”

The liberal sanitized euphemism for this tampering is “statistical sampling,” which the Supreme Court held to be illegal, but provided that some “adjusting” could be made. And that’s where the giant chasm for trouble lies. Huge “adjustments” will be made to keep liberal Democrats in power forever.
Sadly for us, the tamperer is now the Tamperer-in-Chief of the Census, with a Commerce Secretary who is on board with Obama goals of doing exactly this kind of exaggeration in Census data collection.
Kiss America as we know it good-bye.

We are getting our census here in Alaska already.
We have quite a few rental properties that we own. I have found it interesting that our phones are ringing off the hook for information about our tenants!!!??
Census people are calling our cells and home numbers and asking for the census information on each one of our rentals. Our response is “that is private information we can’t give out (landlord/tenant laws), but you can do your job and go conduct a census at the residence.” Instead, our phones still ring, messages are left over and over, and they won‚Äôt go to the residence to perform their job.
If this is what is taking place in Alaska, I wonder what is taking place or will take place in bigger cities. And depending on the politics of the landlord, the information could be slanted.
I have verified that the census people are also calling property managers for the information too.

This weekend marks yet another giant, nationally broadcast sporting event in the largely abandoned, decrepit hole otherwise known as Detroit.
It’s Final Four weekend in D-Mecca, with all of the sports world descending on the dying city to see who wins the semis and finals of the NCAA basketball tournament.
And Michigan and Ohio Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are out in full force enforcing . . . the seizure of T-shirts? Yup, instead of enforcing immigration laws and picking up illegal aliens, Michigan/Ohio ICE Special Agent in Charge Brian Moskowitz a/k/a “Abu Moskowitz” is parading his usual “we take dangerous t-shirt selling ‘terrorism’ off the streets” charade, while he sends his agents to act as the trademark enforcement police for the cash-rich NCAA (which should be footing the bill, not taxpayers who paid for immigration enforcement). I’ve written about this tax-funded absurdity before (here and here).

Federal officials warned today they will be working with Detroit police and others to prevent the sale of counterfeit team merchandise during the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament in Detroit this weekend.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a news release that nearly 1,000 pieces of counterfeit collegiate merchandise, ranging from T-shirts to hats, are typically seized outside the host venue of the Final Four each year.
Legitimate retail sales of licensed team merchandise during the tournament normally exceed $10 million, the news release said.

ICE officials will be working with Detroit police and officials from the Collegiate Licensing Company, said Brian Moskowitz, special agent in charge of the ICE Office of Investigations in Detroit.
“Enforcing America’s counterfeiting laws are about protecting the rights of those who play by the rules and keeping sub-par and unsafe merchandise off our streets and illicit funds out of the hands of organized criminal groups,” Moskowitz said. “Major events such as the Final Four provide a great forum for us to educate the public about the hidden and often misunderstood dangers of this global criminal threat.”

REALITY CHECK: My friends who are ICE agents in Michigan and have worked the Superbowl, the Major League Baseball All-Star game, and other major sporting events for Moskowitz told me what a joke this is, and I’ve noted it on this site in the past.
They say they have a book which tells them to seize t-shirts with sayings like “National College Basketball Tournament” from destitute t-shirt sellers trying to make a buck. How on earth does such a t-shirt constitute “counterfeit merchandise”? Whatever happened to free speech?
The agents say they’ve never ever arrested a single “counterfeit” t-shirt and cap seller. They give the seller the option to have his merchandise seized in exchange for all charges being dropped. Agents tell me that these are all small time people who are mostly Black and trying to survive in Detroit’s ever-lengthening hard times. None of them are part of any “global threat,” and if they were, they’d be arrested.
The whole thing is a joke, and my agent friends tell me they didn’t sign up to be the private t-shirt police for rich sports organizations.
But on this weekend that’s what they are. Res Ipsa Loquitur. The thing speaks for itself.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you about this. With this, the fourth day of jury deliberations in what should have been a slam-dunk guilty verdict case, the O.J.-esque jurors of the Youssef Megahed terrorism trial are still deliberating . . . and asking the judge stupid questions that don’t bode well for a guilty verdict.
The longer they stay out, the more likely my prediction will come true that Megahed will be acquitted by these dunces, which includes a man with a Muslim son-in-law.
First, these jurors asked the judge if he would spring for pizza or sub sandwiches if they stayed late to deliberate. Now, they’re asking this idiocy, today:

Jurors in the Youssef Megahed explosives trial asked a federal judge today to clarify what constitutes guilt. At 11:55 p.m., as the panel prepared to break for lunch, the jury foreman relayed a question to U.S. District Judge Steven Merryday.
Did a guilty verdict require a finding that a defendent was a knowing and willful participant of the crime? Or is a finding of knowledge that a crime was being committed sufficient?
Merryday responded.
A person must act knowingly to the two counts in question, he said. A person may also commit a crime if they aid and abet someone committing a crime. But the aider and abeter [DS: sic] must knowingly and willfully participate with the crime.
Simply knowing about a crime is not enough, he said.

Oh, joy. These jurors think this terrorist only knew about the terrorism plot in which he was a big-time participant, that he only knew about the pipe-bombs, but wasn’t involved.
PUH-LEEZE. Poor Jeffrey Dahmer. If only he had a jury like these, he could still be supping on ear of homosapien and brain a l’orange.
As I reported to you previously on this site, case insiders told me the feds didn’t want to try this case, that they tried like mad to get Megahed to sign a lenient plea deal. And they tried the case with the same wimpishness and weakness. Sun Tzu is turning over in his grave.
And now the case will likely be lost, and an Islamic terrorist–whose real target was likely New York City–will go free and become a U.S. citizen.
The whole Islamic world is laughing at us.
