If you aren’t aware of what a Social Security “fugitive” is, read this, and ask yourself, what happens when ObamaCare is enacted?  Will they do the same thing?  Bet on it.

A federal judge approved a civil-court settlement requiring the Social Security Administration to repay $500 million to 80,000 recipients whose benefits it suspended after deeming them fugitives.

The supposed fugitives include a disabled widow with a previously suspended driver’s license, a quadriplegic man in a nursing home and a Nevada grandmother mistaken for a rapist.

As readers know, I’m a vehement supporter of the free market.  That includes corporations’ right to be boneheaded and drive themselves out of business.

In this case, the boneheaded move is the National Football League’s “blackout.”  Problem is, the NFL has no chance of going out of business, since it’s basically an illegal anti-competitive collusion of several corporations (i.e., teams) that all abide by its silly policies.  And the government stands by and allows it.

The NFL blackout–in which teams aren’t allowed to broadcast home games on television if the game isn’t sold out by a certain time a few days before the game–is in effect, today, in Detroit.  Like the rest of the country, Detroit is in desperate economic times, but it’s hit far worse than the rest of the country.  We’re talking post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans conditions. People can’t afford tickets, no matter how cheap. And that’s not to mention $20-$40 for parking.

This weekend’s new releases aren’t half bad.  In fact, all of them get at least a ONE REAGAN rating or more.  But none of them are great or even very good.  “Pandorum” was not screened for critics, a sign that it’s likely a dud.  Will try to see it later this weekend and add my review of that.

*  “Fame“:  I thought I would hate this remake of the 1980 original.  As a general rule, remakes are always a waste and never better than the original or even approaching it.  But this one is the exception to the rule.  In fact, although it’s a slightly dull movie and very lame, this one is far superior, well-updated, and unlike the much over-rated 1980’s version, it’s PG.  It’s something you can actually send your teens to see.  Unlike the original, it’s not offensive and doesn’t embrace in-your-face left-wing social values and mores.  Go back and watch the original.  You’ll wonder what all the hype was about.  It’s boring and doesn’t pass the test of time.  This latest incarnation, on the other hand, has a little sparkle.  Not enough, though, because like I said, it was sort of dull.

The federal criminal complaint filed yesterday against Dallas-area Muslim Jordanian (translation:  Palestinian) terror plotter, Hosam Maher Husein Smadi, is Exhibit A in failed immigration enforcement on the part of two Homeland Security agencies,  ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and CIS (Citizenship and Immigration Services).  Smadi is the 19-year-old who plotted to kill Christians and Jews and tried to blow up Dallas’ Fountain Place skyscraper. And both agencies apparently failed to stop this guy from entering and remaining here.

(BTW, check out girlie-man Smadi’s mug shot.  I warned you that Muslims in America were a big portion of the “Guybrow” contingent.)

When I read the criminal complaint (read it here), yesterday, I noted that Smadi has an “A number” or Alien Registration Number, a number assigned to all known aliens who enter the U.S. either when they enter the country legally  or when they are caught by ICE after being here illegally.  That number is linked to fingerprints and is meant to better track the aliens in our midst (though we really aren’t tracking them much, which is the problem).  Smadi’s A Number, in case you were wondering, is A097683198.

Yet Smadi had two instances that raise flags.  A new report, out today, reveals these disturbing details about illegal alien Smadi, which were ignored until after he was snagged:

This must be “I Need Money, So I’ll Make a Shocking Confession (Buy My Book!) Week.”  Only in this case, most of the confession ain’t that shocking.

First, it was has-been actress and eternal coke addict Mackenzie Phillips telling us how she had a loving sexual relationship with dear old dad, who might have made her pregnant.

Now, Victoria Gotti–‘memba her?–needs cash and wants to save her pretentious, garish mansion.  So, this daughter of late mobster John Gotti tells us that, yes, her father was a mobster, a bad man, and had people murdered.  No kidding?  Gee, thanks for the tip. Well, she doesn’t actually tell us.  She tells it in one of those memoir books that won’t sell unless you make a shocking revelation and pimp it all over TV.  In this case, the book is, “This Family of Mine:  What It Was Like Growing Up Gotti.”  And I doubt the stuff that would really be interesting is in there.  You can bet the other criminal stuff she knows about–and may have participated in–isn’t revealed by the zaftig Donatella Versace lookalike.  And I’m sure she doesn’t spill enough on her Dapper Don dad.

Still, here’s the part that should get her locked up in prison:  Ms. Gotti tells us that she got her father to make someone “disappear.”  Now, the Mafia princess calls her father “wicked” for doing this, but she’s still lily white (and peroxide blonde), she wants us to know.

Prior to 9/11, Al-Qaeda planned Operation Bojinka (“Terror in the Sky”).  They planned to blow up 10-20 planes across the American skies at approximately the same time.  The plan never materialized because its mastermind, 1993 World Trade Center plotter Ramzi Yousef, was caught.

But 9/11 was originally supposed to be a rescuscitated Bojinka, with up to 12 planes being hijacked and attacking buildings.  It was scaled down.

It appears to me that today was supposed to be the date of a similar operation on American soil.  Earlier today, I told you about the arrest of Talib Islam a/k/a Michael Finton.  Islam planned to blow up an Illinois Courthouse and thought he’d actually detonated it.  But now, word that another Islamic terrorist, illegal alien Hosam Maher Husein Smadi, also planned to blow up a Dallas skyscraper, Fountain Place, today, leads me to believe that several cells, independent of each other were instructed by the same forces to blow up buildings and places across America today.  And, like Islam/Finton, Smadi told an FBI undercover operative that he wished to attack “Romans [Christians] and Jews,” according to the criminal complaint against him (read the complaint).

The FBI claims that neither Islam nor Smadi and their plots were not connected with Najibullah Zazi, who tried to build WMD bombs to explode at various sports arenas, fashion shows, and perhaps subways and trains.

But I’m not so sure.

Meet Talib Islam a/k/a Michael Finton.  He’s another one of those “random,” “few,” “unbalanced” “hijackers that hijacked” the “Religion of Peace.”  And, ironically, he plotted to blow up the Illinois Federal courthouse that’s named after one of the most anti-Semitic, anti-Israel Members of Congress in history, Paul Findley (who is now on the payroll of Gulf State salafists and runs an anti-Israel, anti-Semitic magazine). He was arrested today.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on charges that he allegedly planned to bomb a federal courthouse in Illinois and kill employees there.

More information is coming out about jihadist and terrorist Najibullah Zazi.  And some of it, in my view, falls in the TMI category.  Too Much Information.

Yes, if someone wants to kill, they’ll find a way.  But I’m not sure of what benefit it is to announce to the other would-be jihadis, criminals, and kooks out there, how Zazi went to beauty supply stores to get the basic ingredients for his planned Weapons of Mass Destruction.

But the feds made this info public, anyway. And, in the process, they stupidly alerted Islamic terrorists, so they can be more clever the next time.

It’s official.  The second half of the Peanuts Presidency says we’re racist.

That’s right.  Walter Mondale, the dullest politico alive, says that those of us who criticize Barack Obama are racists.  Now, I know why it was so important to have a Black President.  It wasn’t to “break racial barriers.”  Nope.  It was to innoculate the latest uber-liberal in the White House from all criticism by playing an easily played race card.

Walter who?  He’s the guy who was Jimmy Carter’s Veep and then got trounced–trounced!–atop the Dem ticket by Ronald Reagan in a 49-state sweep.  The only states this race-card player won were his home state of Minnesota and the Communist enclave of the People’s Republican of Washington, DC-istan.
