Lib Roger Ebert Gets It Right on Scott Brown / Club Ted

By Debbie Schlussel

Longtime readers know that I’ve been a critic of Roger Ebert, and have also been a target of his website (regarding my movie reviews). (He also mentioned me in his nationally syndicated movie review column.) It all stems from my criticism of his support of Islamic terrorist Ibrahim Parlak‘s efforts to fight deportation and remain in this country. We sparred in writing (here, here, and here) and on the Howard Stern Show on this issue.  Ebert is a big liberal and Democratic activist.  But he’s a nice guy, and I wish him well.

I can’t help but notice, though, that even though he’s upset about Republican Scott Brown beating uber-liberal Dem Martha Coakley for the Massachusetts U.S. Senate seat in yesterday’s general election, he gets the message right, in this Tweet, below, from last night.

Hey, Roger, sometimes, “F— You”s are vastly underrated (as in this case):

Let’s hope that in November and again in three years, Americans give a whole bunch more FUs to the politics of Ted Kennedy and Barack Hussein Obama.

Like I said, sometime “F- U” is a good thing.

Interviewing These Movie Stars, Today; What Should I Ask?

By Debbie Schlussel

Back in September, I asked readers for question ideas when I was scheduled to interview Drew Barrymore.  Unfortunately, she got sick and I was only allowed to ask her two questions (so, I picked two reader questions, though all were good).  Even more unfortunate, I forgot a Mini-DV cassette to put in my camera, so I couldn’t get it on video (plus her answers to the questions were kinda silly in a “Valley Girl” sort of way).

percyjackson

Today, I’m scheduled to interview stars of the new movie, “Percy Jackson and the Olympians:  The Lightning Thief,” which is scheduled to be in theaters on February 12th.  And, since the movie isn’t yet finished, I haven’t seen it and will only have the trailer to work from.  The movie is based from the eponymous novel by Rick Riordan, and comes from the same people as the Harry Potter flicks.  Check out the movie’s website and watch the trailer:

Here’s the summary of the movie, which the studio sent me:

Nasty Like Al: Like Father, Like Daughter

By Debbie Schlussel

Damn.  I thought the race-pimping, character-assassinating, and all around uber-annoyance in that family tree ended with him.  But I thought wrong.  He has a daughter (and an ex-wife) . . . who are just as filled with undue faux-indignance and hatred of police as he is.

As reader “Shy Guy” says, it’s “All in the (Sharpton) Family” (and note the Sharpton daughter’s gazillion-dollar Gucci bag and mommy’s gazillion-dollar Burberry bag):

The Rev. Al Sharpton’s daughter and ex-wife face a trial after their November arrests for arguing with police officers over a traffic ticket.

Told Ya: Congrats, Scott Brown! Incredible Defeat for Prez; Post-Obama Revolution Begins

By Debbie Schlussel

**** SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO of Scott Brown Victory Speech ****

And let me say this with respect to the people who wish to harm us, I believe–and I know all of you believe–that our Constitution and laws exist to protect THIS nation. Let me make it very, very, very clear, they do not grant rights and privileges to enemies in wartime. And the message we need to send in dealing with terrorists: our tax dollars–our tax dollars–should pay for weapons to stop them and not lawyers to defend them. . . Giving new rights to terrorists is the wrong agenda for our country.

–Scott Brown in his victory speech, tonight (I transcribed it, word-for-word).

scottbrownhedidit

Congratulations, Senator-Elect Scott Brown.  Told ya on Saturday Night, he’d pull it out, and he did.  Now, how long ’til we drop the “-Elect” part, and he’s seated?  We’ll see what shenanigans the Obamacare Dems try to pull, but regardless, it’s an incredible defeat for Barack Obama, whose White House flacks are now spinning it as “not a referendum on President Obama,” which is exactly what it, in fact, was.

Either way, the man who was once Cosmopolitan magazine’s “America’s Sexiest Man” is about to be seated as “America’s Sexiest Senator.”  And even sexier than his movie star looks will be his vote against Obamacare.  He might not be the most conservative dude on the planet, but it’s such an incredible victory and poetic justice replacement for Club Ted a/k/a Ted Kennedy.  (Plus, he’s a Lt. Col. and 30 year veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard–always a good thing to have a Senator with military experience, rather than drunk driving and sex in restaurants experience.)

When Barack Obama was elected, I posted a number of e-mails and comments I received from fellow proud Jewish conservatives like me who voted for John McCain.  Most were demoralized and gave up hope, but as I noted then, politics is in cycles and I told readers “we would come back,” just as Ronald Reagan followed Jimmy Carter.  One of those readers was my fellow co-religionist and co-ideologue, Scott–also an Orthodox Jew.  Scott’s hope was restored tonight with Scott Brown’s election.

Good evening Ms. Schlussel —

I have not written to you in a long time, but still follow your blog closely. You posted a letter I wrote to you right after the election of Obama.  I was despondent. I believe I said something like for the first time I feel that I don’t know my country anymore.

Tonight, with the win of Scott Brown, my faith in America has been somewhat restored, and I feel an optimism that I have not felt in over a year. We can do this.  We can get our country back on track.  All is not lost. Just wanted to share my thoughts with you.

Yes, Wyclef Jean’s Haiti “Charity” is a Self-Serving Rip-Off

By Debbie Schlussel

Pop singer and native Haitian Wyclef Jean came under fire for his Wyclef Jean Foundation, Inc. a/k/a the Yele Haiti Foundation.  Yesterday, Jean held a press conference to defend himself against charges made by The Smoking Gun.  And Rush Limbaugh defended him on his nationally syndicated radio show.

wyclefjean

Wyclef Jean & His “Charity”: Pimpin’ Out the People of Haiti

While I agree with Rush on most issues, he’s completely wrong on Jean.  I’ve looked at his foundation’s tax forms for 2005, 2006, and 2007, and there is not only a lot of self-dealing, but not enough of the money he raised actually goes to charity in Haiti.  In fact, the vast majority of the money goes to pay consultants and himself.

And, frankly, TSG was soft on Jean and his charity.  Here’s my analysis:

Umar Abdulmutallab’s Country’s “Peaceful” Muslims: Attack on Churches Kills 50

By Debbie Schlussel

Much is being made  about how Northwest Flight 253 Islamic terrorist Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s father tried to turn him in and how he was radicalized in the West (the UK) and Yemen.  And, along with those news items, ignorant commentators tell us that this is very much unlike the “peaceful, moderate” Muslims of Nigeria, whom his father, Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, is supposed to epitomize.

nigerianmuslims

islamiccrescentabdulmutallabmugshot

The “Moderate” Muslims of Nigeria Murder 50 Christians, Displace 5,000

But , in fact, over the weekend, Nigerian Muslim “youths”–any of whom could have been Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab–set fire to a church filled with worshippers, starting a riot that killed at least 27 people in Jos, Nigeria.  That doesn’t include the church worshippers who ran out and were greeted by Muslims with machetes.  In all, 40 were murdered (the Red Cross says more than 50–see below). Note that five of yesterday’s Muslim “youths” were wearing Nigerian military uniforms.

Yeah, let’s hear it for the “moderate, civilized” Muslims of Nigeria. And don’t think that when they reach critical mass there’s anything to prevent them from doing this at a Saint Luke’s or a Saint Michael’s Church in America (since there were several churches attacked, including ones with both of those names, in Nigeria):

In Jos city, Plateau state, about 200 Muslim youths attacked Christians near St. Michael’s Catholic Church, according to local sources of Christian Solidarity Worldwide. The human rights organization reported that Muslim youths congregated to renovate a house next to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, owned by a man who allegedly killed three Christians in the November 2008 sectarian violence in Jos.

Dumb Detroit Stunt of the Day

By Debbie Schlussel

I’m not sure if a stunt is really a stunt if it has yet to be attempted.  So, perhaps this entry should have been entitled, “Dumb Detroit Stunt Idea of the Day.”

doggunhead.jpg

Say Nice Things About Detroitistan

Regardless, a couple of liberal activists, instead of focusing their energies on helping the poor or smoking pot–or some other activity libs like to brag about, want to encase one of Detroit’s over 200,000 foreclosed and abandoned homes in a solid block of ice. It’s called the Ice House Detroit Project.  But photog Gregory Holm and architect Matthew Radune  have yet to finish their “Detroit flophouse frozen in solid ice” because the weather is too warm, and it’s delayed the effort, which was supposed to be complete yesterday.

Haiti, Islamic Relief, UNICEF & the Scientologists

By Debbie Schlussel

While Israel was one of the first countries to deploy to Haiti to help relief efforts there–and, in fact, the Israeli mobile unit set up on a football field is essentially the only working hospital in Haiti–extremist Muslims and the Church of Scientology are engaged in far weaker efforts in Haiti that are, nonetheless, somewhat frightening.

This Equals This

(Islamic Relief = Islamic Terror Artwork by David Lunde)

haitiearthquake

It’s a religious race  and an apparent attempt to convert people by two cults (Muslims and Scientologists–one with a moongod at its center and the other with a failed science fiction writer as its founder and idol) at a time when  people in Haiti are at their most desperate and looking for something to cling to.  And although the efforts by Muslims (and the Scientologists) are weak in comparison to Israeli and American efforts to help these people, the religious groups’ efforts are clearly designed to get converts when they have nothing but faith to turn to.  These are poor, uneducated people, and the last thing they need in this time of disaster is to be taken advantage of, er . . . “helped,” by Islamic proselytizers.

Islamic Relief Worldwide a/k/a Islamic Relief–which is heading up the paltry but proselytizing-focused efforts of Muslim charity to Haitians–is a group I’ve detailed on this site extensively and whose events I attended undercover.  As I’ve noted, the group was founded by an immediate relative of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group.  The charity is not only tied to Al-Qaeda, but it employed HAMAS operatives to head up and run its operations in the so-called Palestinian areas.  Islamic Relief’s US registered agent and lawyer is the son of a Nazi Waffen SS officer, and he represented Islamic terrorists.

MLK, Jr. & the Jews: King Was a Fan of Israel, Supported Its Security

By Debbie Schlussel

Peace for Israel means security, and we must stand with all our might to protect its right to exist, its territorial integrity. I see Israel as one of the great outposts of democracy in the world, and a marvelous example of what can be done, how desert land can be transformed into an oasis of brotherhood and democracy. Peace for Israel means security and that security must be a reality.

–Martin Luther King, Jr., March 25, 1968 speech.

Martin Luther King: Philo-Semite, Fan of Israel, NOT Pan-Muslim

Earlier today, I wrote about Martin Luther King, Jr.’s statement at Harvard that attacks on “Zionists” are anti-Semitism.  I wrote about it because Islamic extremists are hijacking the memory of Dr. King to further their anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, and anti-national security causes. But there is more.  Congressman John Lewis, who worked closely with his friend, King, wrote this column, below, in the San Francisco Chronicle in 2002.  Although I don’t share most of John Lewis’ politics (he is a liberal Democrat), he’s pro-Israel and wrote this column to note that his famous friend was, as well.

“I Have a Dream” for Peace in the Middle East: King’s Special Bond with Israel

by John Lewis

January 21, 2002, San Francisco Chronicle

The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. understood the meaning of discrimination and oppression. He sought ways to achieve liberation and peace, and he thus understood that a special relationship exists between African Americans and American Jews.

Hmm . . . Another Strange “Coincidence” @ N. Michigan Airport

By Debbie Schlussel

On Friday, I told you about the “innocent,” “flying while Arabic” Muslim man who locked himself in the bathroom, apparently made a bomb threat, and tampered with the panel inside the bathroom door.  But, hey, it was “nothing,” and they let him go, when the plane landed at the Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City, Michigan.

Calculated: The Last Time People Drove Through Airport Security Fences

What I didn’t tell you (nor did I know at the time) was that, in the early morning right before this happened, a woman deliberately crashed her car through the  airport security fence.  The woman was allegedly drunk.  But it’s just waaaaay too much of a coincidence.  Keep in mind that this is a tiny, tiny airport at the top of the Michigan glove, serving a mostly rural area.  Things like this don’t happen there, let alone two of ’em in one day.

It was a busy day for authorities responding to incidents at Cherry Capital Airport.

Well before federal, state and local officials responded to a passenger’s allegedly suspicious activity on an incoming aircraft Friday morning, they arrested a woman who crashed her vehicle through an airport security fence.
