Did You Do Black Friday? Black Friday Killed America

By Debbie Schlussel

Did you do Black Friday . . . er “Diverse Complexion Friday?” By that, I mean, did you get up early (or stay up all night–Walmart specials began at Midnight) and wait in lines for “doorbuster deals”? If you did, what was your biggest bargain? Was it worth getting up so early and standing in long lines, being treated like so much American cattle? Did you go the Black Friday rush and still miss out on what you wanted? It’s my view that Black Friday killed America.

Read about my “experience” on last year’s Black Friday. Swore I wouldn’t do it again . . . but I did, only because my TV recently died, and I wanted to take advantage of a good bargain to replace it, rather than pay the regular high prices. Was it worth it? Not sure. I brought a book and read while I waited. In general, I try to stay away from Black Friday absurdity. Health and sleep are too important. Plus, I look at it as sort of a mindless group think activity to get you to buy cheap stuff you really don’t need or would normally want. And, like most people in this tough economy, I can’t afford to waste money on this stuff that is more marketing-induced want than need.

Leading Rabbi Praises Thanksgiving, US Founding Fathers (Remember Mumbai Massacre)

By Debbie Schlussel

Two years ago, on Thanksgiving, followers of the Chabad Lubavitch movement in Mumbai, India were murdered in cold blood by Islamic terrorists.  They were murdered because they were Jews.  I pause on this Thanksgiving day to remember them.  And in their honor I post excerpts of a video I’ve posted before from a 1986 speech by their late leader, the Lubavitcher Rebbe a/k/a Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, Zichrono LiVrachah [of Blessed Memory] about Thanksgiving and the G-d-fearing faith of America’s Founding Fathers.  The Rabbi was a special and very revered man in Judaism.  Every Thanksgiving, he and his followers hosted Thanksgiving dinners in major American cities for the poor and the sick.  Almost all of those hosted at these dinners, which continue to date, are not Jews, but gentiles who enjoy a kosher Thanksgiving meal, with turkey and all the fixings.  Judaism is not a proselytizing religion, and the purpose of these meals is solely to help those less fortunate, something the Chabad Lubavitch movement does every day.

The Late Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem M. Schneerson, of Blessed Memory, Praised Thanksgiving

The Lubavitch Chassidic movement in Judaism is a leading force in American Jewry and Judaism around the world.  After most other American Jews intermarry out of the faith, Chabad Lubavitch adherents will comprise the majority of those who remain (along with other Orthodox Jews who are not Chassidic Jews). As I’ve noted previously today, in contrast to the Mumbai Islamic terrorists and their fellow co-religionists in places like Dearbornistan (where today is not Thanksgiving, but just another day to hate America from within), we American Jews love Thanksgiving. Rabbi Schneerson loved Thanksgiving and celebrated it with his movement. I repeat the key part of it here:

The foundation of this nation was laid by the Founding Fathers, who after coming to this country proclaimed a holiday of Thanksgiving to G-d, Creator and Director of the world, for having saved them and bringing them to a secure land where they could live free of oppression and decrees–to live as they see fit, beginning from practicing their faith in G-d as Creator and Director of the world, in their own times, in their own lives, and their own rescues. They even established it as a law that every year on that day, it must be remembered again, to thank G-d from the depths of our hearts, for having shown them His kindness openly.

My Big, Fat, Kosher Thanksgiving: How Jewish Americans Celebrate

By Debbie Schlussel

Over the years, readers have continued to ask me how, as a Jewish-American, I celebrate Thanksgiving. Well, just like you celebrate Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is an American holiday. We are all Americans, and I am as thankful as anyone to be able to live and practice my religion freely in our great country. Yes, there are some “Americans”–you’ll find many of these Muslims today on the streets and souks of Dearbornistan–who might have been born here or who have a passport that’s marked “United States of America,” but they have no loyalty to this country. Their hearts and minds belong to Mohammed. They will not be consuming turkey today, but, rather, their usual traditional foods native to the Hezbollah stronghold of South Lebanon and the ruins of Gazastan and Fatahland. Their “thanksgiving” is when they praise allah after successfully blowing up Americans, Jews, Westerners, and Christians.

In contrast, Jews have been here and help establish and found the United States from the very beginning. And we celebrate it and express our thanks with the same heartiness and gratefulness as the rest of our fellow Americans. Above is a postcard supplied by the Jewish Welfare Board to U.S. Soldiers during World War II, so they could write home on it. The postcard shows a Thanksgiving dinner sponsored and paid for by the Jewish Welfare Board, so Jewish and Gentile U.S. Soldiers.

The photo was taken “before the attack,” which I would imagine means the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was taken at one of many Jewish Welfare Board Hospitality Houses, which Jewish organizations paid for and established near military bases, so that all American soldiers–gentile and Jew alike would have a place to go for free drinks, meals, shaving kits, board games, and other supplies to make their lives better while America was at war. The Jewish Welfare Board, established during World War I, and sent soldiers overseas all kinds of free supplies and postcards, stationery, and care packages, regardless of their religion.

Like the rest of my fellow Jews in America, today I will eat turkey (I like the white meat of turkey breast and the crispy-crunchiness of the skin on well-done roasted turkey wings (and the meat inside). I will also eat most of the same “fixin’s” as you do, with the exceptions noted below. Differences in my Thanksgiving meal are minimal, such as:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!: Lots to Be Thankful for in 2010

By Debbie Schlussel

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you, my friends and readers across America (to my international friends and readers, I give my thanks to you, even if you do not celebrate this very American holiday which I love so much). We have much to be thankful about here in America at the end of 2010. (First and foremost, there are only 6 more years of Barack Obama at most. And a Thanksgiving Mubarak [“Blessed Thanksgiving,” in Arabic] to all of the current Islamo-pandering residents of the White House.)

normanrockwellthanskgiving.jpg

To those who wished me a Happy Thanksgiving, I regret I cannot respond to each of you personally, but Right Back At Ya! Thank you for reading this site and posting your mostly terrific comments. Thanks for your tips and your support and contributions. A joyous, delicious, fun Thanksgiving to all of you! And I hope you will take the time beyond the Turkey and cranberry sauce to give thanks that our country is still free and that we are all alive and kicking. Those are my primary things to be thankful for, in addition to being a citizen of the best country on earth. Those of us who are healthy are thankful for that, and those who are not . . . well, I’m thankful we still have the best healthcare system on earth, until and unless ObamaCare is fully realized (and that’s not such a sure thing, now).

BITCH – Angelina Jolie: Thanksgiving is “Story of Murder”

By Debbie Schlussel

Angelina Jolie hates Thanksgiving, which she says is a “story of murder” she refuses to celebrate.  Yup, she hates America, as I’ve repeatedly noted on this site.

3 Turkeys – Only the 1st One Should Be Celebrated in America

Her latest movie (out in December) is called, “The Tourist.”  And that’s an apt description of Angelina Jolie Voight a/k/a Angelina Jolie’s experience and knowledge of America.  She’s a tourist.  Hasn’t a clue beyond the left-wing slogans she hears from her America-hating fellow travelers.  I’ve noted before how Jolie hates Jews and Israel (and attended an Islamic hate-fest), how she attacked America for (barely) enforcing immigration laws and compared us to Hitler for it, and how she interfered with Immigration and Customs Enforcement deportation of illegal alien children, insisting they have lawyers to game the system and stay here ad absurdum.  And don’t forget that time when she said she’s “absolutely ashamed” of America. Plus, she loves her some terrorist-host-state Syria.

Now, there’s this from AOL News/PopEater reporter Rob Shuter:

While everyone is preparing to give thanks tomorrow, one of America’s most famous families, the Jolie-Pitts, have decided to sit this Thanksgiving out.

“Angelina Jolie hates this holiday and wants no part in rewriting history like so many other Americans,” a friend of the actress tells me. “To celebrate what the white settlers did to the native Indians, the domination of one culture over another, just isn’t her style. She definitely doesn’t want to teach her multi-cultural family how to celebrate a story of murder.”

T-Day Box Office: Tangled, Burlesque, Faster, Love & Other Drugs

By Debbie Schlussel

The best–and only worthwhile–movie debuting on this mid-week Thanksgiving holiday is an animated Disney flick.  So, what else is new?

*  “Tangled“:  Terrific.  Enjoyed this much more than I expected I would.  Charming and great for your whole family, especially if you have young kids.  This is Disney’s animated version of the Rapunzel fairy tale.  It is part musical–lots of singing with Mandy Moore’s surprisingly strong voice (she’s Rapunzel)–and all adventure.  It’s very cute, and although the Rapunzel character will appeal more to girls, there are several characters aimed at boys.  The male hero (voiced by Zachary Levi) is somewhat of an inept smart aleck and kinda metrosexual, but I doubt kids will pick up on it.

You know the story, though it’s been slightly embellished for the movie.  Funny, I don’t remember the part about Rapunzel’s hair glowing and being able to tie people up, but it’s been a long time since my parents read me the fairy tale as a little kid.  Princess Rapunzel is kidnapped as a baby and must spend her life, raised by the woman she thinks is her mother, in a tower.  Only when she lets her hair down can people climb up and down the hair to get into the tower.  But she is stuck there.  She longs to see life outside and encounter the floating lights she sees every year on her birthday.  But her “mother,” Gothel won’t let her go outside into the real world.  Eventually, though, a bandit (Flynn Ryder) brings her out of the tower and into the Kingdom, where her parents, the King and Queen, constantly search for their long-lost baby.

Support DebbieSchlussel.com

By Debbie Schlussel

DebbieSchlussel.com recently reached its five-and-a-half year mark.  And we continue to experience growth pains.  You may have noticed that my site went down several times in the last few weeks due to hacking and increased traffic and usage. Each time the outage for was for a few hours. Unfortunately, we lost thousands of visitors when that happened, despite the fact that we were on top of it and took care of the problem as quickly as possible. That’s distressing because I continue to want to make my site available to you 24/7 around the world, even as we approach Thanksgiving. And I’d like to apologize for any inconveniences and frustrations it may have caused you.

pleasedonatesitemaintenance2

I’d also like to prevent these problems from happening in the future. To do so requires continued upgrading of our site’s hosting and security needs. Beyond the costs of site maintenance, upgrades, and security, I’m also incurring other expenses, as I continue to take on a wide variety of legal projects in my work to protect America from our enemies. You already know about one of those projects, and I’ll be announcing more groundbreaking projects very soon. And my unique movie reviews–which you can’t find anywhere else–will be up, shortly.  (I even stayed awake through a Midnight movie screening, last night, so I could bring you a complete set of reviews, today.) The reviews save you time and money by illuminating the very few gems amidst the usual cinematic rubble.  On Monday, you read about my fight against Paramount Pictures to continue to bring you those reviews.

Whether it’s about Islamic intolerance and encroachment on America and the rest of the West (and Barack Obama and elected officials from both sides of the aisle willingly going along, or, worse, eagerly pandering to it), Israel’s part in that fight and its struggle to survive, or our side in the culture war as we try to preserve our country and Western society from within, you’ll be reading more new and original items, including exclusive breaking stories, scoops, and my original movie reviews which tell you what’s really in the movies so you save your money and time and protect your kids. Some upcoming projects I’ll be sharing with you include another new exclusive on Iranian immigration defrauders who, sadly, have been granted and are about to be granted U.S. citizenship over the protests of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. And I have many such other items on deck in the coming days, weeks, and months–again, stuff you won’t read or see anywhere else.

You can also show your support by joining other advertisers in placing ads on my site or sponsoring my work, to help cover such costs. We have many affordable and innovative options enabling you to reach reach my many loyal readers, most of whom are top-notch intellectuals and independent thinkers. My site is growing more and more each day, as I continue to bring you breaking stories and original content that you can’t find anywhere else (except when others rip it off, unfortunately–but you always see it here first, often months or weeks earlier). Perhaps you or people you know might be interested in placing ads or sponsoring my work to help cover these costs. We have many affordable and innovative options enabling advertisers to reach thousands of loyal readers, most of whom are top-notch intellectual conservatives and independent, critical thinkers.  Please write if you are interested in such opportunities.

The best option to show your support is directly through PayPal. Any amount is appreciated. Donating even just $5-20/month can really add up to significant support in the ongoing operation and expansion of DebbieSchlussel.com. You can either use the yellow Paypal buttons on the upper left hand side of the site, or you can prevent the PayPal fees by going to PayPal and sending it directly to: writedebbie@gmail.com.

On a related note, we continue to pursue major overhaul of my website design, and are still looking for WordPress experts who can aid in this. Please drop me a line if you fit the bill and are interested. As always, I welcome your donations to keep this site and its continuing growth and expansion going.

Thank you for your patience during the downtime and for your continued support of my work–our work! And Happy Thanksgiving.  More new posts coming up soon, including the movie reviews.

Another Big Reason TSA Searches Are Useless: Unscreened Bags, People on Planes

By Debbie Schlussel

I’ve noted repeatedly on this site that screening passengers when airport workers ARE NOT screened is a huge waste of time.  While you’re obediently bending over, unchecked people and bags continue to get on planes through gaping holes in the whole TSA “screening” policy. If I were an Islamic terrorist, I’d become an airport worker, so I could do whatever I want.  And, in fact, most restaurants at Detroit Metro Airport are owned by Muslims allied with Hezbollah and HAMAS.  Not kidding.  In fact, one restaurant is owned by a guy who is doing time in prison for running an international car theft ring which laundered money to Hezbollah.  But the restaurant is in his wife’s name, while he’s away at the big house.

Nothing “Secure” About Screening Passengers, But Not Employees & Extra Baggage

And, as I’ve noted, several airport employees have been caught successfully smuggling huge caches of weapons and drugs on planes because they (the employees) are never screened.  We’re lucky they didn’t smuggle a bomb, as the illegal cargo wasn’t uncovered until the flights landed.  Now, there’s a new such incident, with baggage handlers putting unscreened bags on planes for cash.  If the price is right, they put the bag on.  Do you think they know what’s in the bag and whose it really is?  Think again.  TSA claims the bags were screened, but TSA says a lot of things . . . like that feeling you up makes us safer.  I don’t believe either claim. And the agency is “investigating” whether the bags were actually screened which means the TSA denials are phony, and the bags probably weren’t screened. Miami-Dade County Police (which knows a little more about legitimate police work than the TSA) says the bags likely were NOT screened.

Eighteen baggage handlers at the Miami airport are accused of taking cash to let people secretly check extra or overweight baggage, and authorities are investigating whether some of those bags made it onto planes without going through security.

The initial arrests were made on Wednesday. Miami-Dade County police said they are also investigating American Airlines ticket agents and others who may have worked with the skycaps.

OUTRAGE – Warned Ya: Saudi Terrorism Financier Owns Tax-Bailed GM

By Debbie Schlussel

Welcome to PAWN-GM: Prince Al-Waleed’s “New” General Motors.

I warned you.  Before General Motors’ Initial Public Offering of “the new GM” stock, I told you that GM approached Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia to get their sovereign wealth funds to purchase the stock.  You know, the stock that is healthy because you–the American taxpayer–financed the bailout of General Motors.  And my warning was spot on.

princealwaleedgiuliani.jpg

PAWN-GM: You Paid For It, Now Prince Al-Waleed Owns It

Now, Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal (yup, the same Saudi who owns FOX News and the Wall Street Journal)–the major donor to Palestinian homicide bomber telethons and the man who demanded that Rudy Giuliani change American foreign policy on Israel in exchange for 9/11 victim cash–owns GM.  He owns 1%, which is a heck of a lot, and if the company continues to succeed, he’ll invest more, as he’s done with FOX News’ News Corp.    With such a big investment, don’t be shocked if the extremist billionaire prince gets a seat on GM’s board. And the little guy–you and me–never had a chance to buy much more than a couple shares of the new GM. Big foreign investors like him–who didn’t bail out GM, but plundered the rewards–were the ones with the access. The Islamic vultures come “home” to roost. Dar Al-Harb without even having to use the Harb (sword).

Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal said he now holds 1% of General Motors, for which he paid $500 million.

US Army’s “Warrior of the Year” is Feminist Joke

By Debbie Schlussel

I guarantee you Al-Qaeda and others around the Muslim world–99% of whom are bent on destroying us–aren’t using feminism to pick a tiny chick (or any chick at all) as their Jihadist of the Year.  But that’s essentially what the U.S. Army did in picking Sherri Gallagher as its first female “Best Warrior of the Year.” It’s demoralizing for our fighting men, especially since it’s clear she was picked solely because of female plumbing.  The fact that the Army’s website touts her as its first female awarded this title makes it clear this was an affirmative-action-by-vagina pick.  It’s the Jessica Lynch Bronze Star BS . . . all over again.  Lynch did not deserve the Bronze Star, nor does Gallagher deserve this award.  But they both have the essential element the politically correct forces running the military want:  estrogen.

Gallagher might be able to beat me up and fight many men. I’d bet most male warriors would easily turn her into the first quickly dead female Warrior of the Year, in a mano-a-womano contest.  She may be a great shot.  I’ll give her that.  But, at 5’4″, she’s tiny, and would be easily broken.  Her size and gender aren’t her fault and shouldn’t be held against her, but to claim she’s the U.S. Army’s “Best Warrior” is simply absurd.  The U.S. Army’s Best Warrior competition is described as the Superbowl for America’s top Army soldiers. Does a 5’4″ woman really even belong as a competitor, much less the title holder?  It’s like giving a WNBA player the title of best player in the NBA, when none of those chicks could beat my brother’s junior high school basketball team.
