I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: when left wing activists from America go to the Islamic world (or places like North Korea) and they are detained there, we should let them rot. These are not naive innocents. They are primarily left-wing, pan-Muslim sympathists and activists who know exactly where they are going and what they are doing. They assume the risk. Unfortunately, the Obama administration has taken to using the Navy SEALs to rescue these people, and in the latest case, a Navy SEAL was killed.

Over the weekend, 28-year-old Petty Officer 1st Class Navy SEAL Nicolas D. Checque was killed rescuing a doctor from Morning Star Development who was kidnapped by the Taliban. Two other employees of Morning Star had been kidnapped but released. Morning Star Development is a non-profit, left-wing, pro-Muslim Colorado charity, whose members do medical work and economic development for Afghan Muslims in dangerous areas dominated by the Taliban. Nobody told them to go there. Nobody put a gun to their head. And the kinds of people who do this kind of work are generally far-left, anti-American, anti-Israel whack jobs. There is absolutely no reason a Navy SEAL had to die or that any Navy SEALs were sent to rescue these activists who knew what they were getting into. Frankly, anyone who helps these America-hating Taliban supporters in Afghanistan gets what they deserve when they are kidnapped.

This isn’t the first time this happened, either. As you may recall, last January, President Obama sent the SEALs to rescue more of these far-left, pro-Muslim activists in Somalia. Jessica Buchanan and Poul Hagen Thisted (who isn’t even American) from their Somalian captors. Most other aid groups left Somalia long before that because they knew it wasn’t safe there. You have to be a complete moron to go to Somalia to “help people,” given that we know the place is dominated by Al-Shabab and other warring Islamic terrorist groups. Buchanan and Thisted chose to remain there in their work with the Danish Refugee Council. That was a choice made freely. And we shouldn’t have sent SEALs in to rescue them, just like we shouldn’t have sent in SEALs to rescue Dr. Dilip Joseph, over the weekend. Read the rest of this entry »

Recently, I told you about Abdullatif Ali Aldosary, an Islamic terrorist and Iraqi immigrant who bombed an Arizona Social Security office. As I noted, agents who raided his home found all kinds of recipes for explosives and a cache of supplies and weapons hidden in Aldosary’s home. Well, now, it’s come to light that the man’s own Congressman was aware that Aldosary was an Islamic terrorist who was roaming the streets of his district and did nothing about it. Now that Congressman, Republican Paul Gosar, is using Aldosary’s terrorist attack–which he could have helped stop–to grandstand.

Paul Gosar learned well over a year ago that Aldosary was an Islamic terrorist. Aldosary is one of his constituents and asked the Congressman to inquire from Homeland Security why Aldosary’s attempts to get a green card and legal permanent residence in the U.S. were denied. Homeland Security responded that Aldosary is an Islamic terrorist and, therefore, was denied the green card.

You’d think that upon learning that, a U.S. Congressman would raise hell and ask why an Islamic terrorist is roaming the streets of his district, why the person isn’t being deported or at least detained awaiting deportation. You’d think Congressman Gosar would have made a big deal about this. But you would be wrong. In fact, Gosar said nothing and did nothing. Crickets chirping from the Congressman and his office . . . until now. Until AFTER an explosion that could have killed countless people. Yup, now, after a year of sitting back and collecting his Congressional paycheck and benefits exceeding $200,000 per year, Republican Congressman Paul Gosar is suddenly “interested” in national security and the safety of his constituents. He sent out a grandstanding letter to the Department of Homeland Security–and sent a copy to all members of the press, asking why Aldosary wasn’t monitored and so on.

Those are, indeed, the proper questions to be asking both to Homeland Security . . . and to the man Paul Gosar sees in his mirror. Homeland Security should have deported this guy. They should have detained him. And at the very least, they should have monitored his activities, especially since he was already convicted of a violent crime, prior to his terrorist attack. But Paul Gosar should have insisted on it and held the fire to the agency’s feet. He did none of that. Instead, upon learning that one of his own constituents is an Islamic terrorist freely going about his business, Gosar put that information in his circular file. The explosion at the Casa Grande, Arizona Social Security office could have resulted in the murders of countless people. We’re lucky that wasn’t the result. But if it had been, Paul Gosar would have blood on his hands. He should be ashamed and apologize to his constituents, instead of sending out publicity-seeking press releases and letters over a year too late. It’s simply arrogant and phony, not to mention hypocritical.

As you know, today is the first day of the Jewish holiday of Chanukah. And in anticipation of that, the last few weeks I’ve collected photos of disturbing things I saw of how marketers and retailers (especially Bed Bath and Beyond – “BB&B,” which was founded and is still headed by Jews who know better) are trying to change and destroy the way we Jews observe the holiday. I have tremendous respect for my Christian friends and readers and how they celebrate their holiday. Their Christmas decorations and festivities are beautiful, and I fully support their right to display Nativity scenes on public lands (even if the ACLU, the terrorists’ lobby, doesn’t).

But these decorations are not Chanukah. The beauty of Chanukah is the story of miracles, of religious freedom and spiritual survival after a miraculous victory over those who would destroy the Jewish people, both from without AND within. Our observance of it is simple and modest, and the only thing that can get gaudy and decorative in our observance is the style of the menorah we light and the colors of the candles we use. (Yes, we have parties with decorations, but nothing like this–at least, that’s the way it used to be.) Given that, here’s . . .

I wish all my Jewish friends, readers, and commenters a Happy Chanukah (also spelled Hanukkah, Hannukah, Chanukkah, Channukah, and assorted other transliterated ways), or as we say in Hebrew, “Chag Chanukah Sameach.” Thanks to all of you, both Jew and Gentile, who sent me so many nice Chanukah wishes, e-cards, e-mails, and other such salutations.

Chanukah, which began at sundown tonight, is not just about the miracle that a jar of oil to light the candelabra in the Jewish Temple lasted eight days instead of the one day it would normally last. Chanukah is the commemoration of the courageous victory of the Maccabees over the Greeks that took not just eight days, but decades (it took over two decades before the Maccabees finally defeated the Greeks and the Hellenists and were victorious). And it’s not just the miracle of the Maccabees defeating King Antiochus and his forces, it’s the spiritual fight that the Maccabees fought that left many Jews dead as well.

Those Jews were the Hellenists who gave up traditional Judaism for something less spiritual, more material. And the Maccabees slaughtered many of them as well, as was their duty. Sadly, today, the Jewish people is dominated by Hellenism on steroids. Another phrase for them is “Obama voters.” These are JINOs–Jews In Name Only, who long ago gave up spiritual Judaism for liberalism and an “ethnic” or “cultural” Judaism that really isn’t historically or religiously Jewish, such as eating deli food, giving their lives for the rights of Blacks who hate them, and pandering to Muslims and hosting Israel-haters at synagogues. Nothing spectacular in what’s new at movie theaters this weekend:

* “Playing for Keeps“: This dopey, predictable, cheesy movie starring Gerard Butler and Jessica Biel was the same flat, attempted slapstick comedy you’ve seen a million times before. And despite it’s PG-13 rating, it’s filled with S-words, women in lingerie and sexual situations. The people who do the ratings are asleep on the job and have been for years.

Butler stars as a former soccer star who is now down in the dumps and struggling financially. He doesn’t have a job and is living in someone’s carriage house, the rent of which he’s yet to pay. But he makes some effort at being in the life of his young son by ex-wife Biel. One day, he finds himself recruited to be his son’s new soccer coach. There he has all kinds of parents tugging at him for one thing or another. Dennis Quaid plays a wealthy businessman who wants his daughter to sing the National Anthem before games and his son to play more. He lavishes Butler money and a Ferrari to borrow. His wife, played by Uma Thurman, as well as two other soccer moms–an annoying Judy Greer and a creepy Catherine Zeta-Jones–try to sleep with him (and the latter two succeed at that). But, soon, Butler learns that his ex–with whom he’s still in love–is getting remarried. And, finally, he begins to grow up, just as he’s also on his way to a job with ESPN. It’s official: gay marriage will probably soon be the law of the land. Is marriage between 3 people or between a person and another being next? The U.S. Supreme Court decided today to hear two cases on gay marriage and decide the legality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California’s Prop 8, which says marriage is only between one male and one female (as it should be). I predict–with the way things are going–that the Court will overturn the decision of California’s voters and legalize gay marriage (or as gays have cleverly branded it, “marriage equality”). Don’t count out Justice John Roberts, who had no prob backing ObamaCare. I wouldn’t be shocked if he does the same baloney with these cases.

What do you think? Will the Supremes make gay marriage the law of the land? We’re becoming Europe even faster than you or I had earlier diagnosed.

Remember Judge Wade McCree III, the Detroit-based judge who sent a naked photo of himself to his court bailiff? Well, now, McCree, who is a criminal judge in Wayne County, Michigan, the Michigan county that contains Detroit, is at it again in a much more disturbing way. His Honor was having a sexual relationship with a female complaining witness in a criminal matter before his court. He texted back and forth with the woman on how to mete out “justice” to her ex-boyfriend, who was before the judge for failure to pay child support. They referred to the man as “B.D.” for “baby daddy” in the text messages. Oh, and the woman is now pregnant with the married judge’s baby. Charlie LeDuff, the reporter on this, is well known for his long record of plagiarism and fabricating stories (which have been the subject of lawsuits filed against newspapers for which he’s worked). But he’s got the goods here.

Oh, one other thing, Judge McCree was already on “Maury,” but not for a “Who’s the Daddy?” show (which may be in his future). He was on because he sentenced men who were overdue on child support to watch Maury Povich’s sleazy talk show. Yup, you can’t make this stuff up. You gotta watch this and remember, THIS. IS. Seventy-one years ago today, on December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. 2,459 U.S. military personnel and other Americans were killed in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. 1,178 American servicemen were wounded. 12 ships were sunk or beached, 9 damaged. We lost 164 aircraft to total destruction, and 159 others were damaged.

Until then, America hadn’t really entered World War II. They attacked us. Just like all the many attacks in which the replacement “they”–Islamic terrorists and the vast majority of the Islamic world that cheers them on–have attacked us, and not just on 9/11/01, but well before and after. On 9/11, President Bush wrote in his diary, “The Pearl Harbor of the 21st century took place today.” But he did not fight the enemy the way American did post-Pearl Harbor. Instead, he embraced the enemy and set the table for other Republicans and Democrats like Barack Obama to do the same. That’s just one of the many reasons why it’s so important to remember the attack on Pearl Harbor. And not just to remember it, but to never forget that, today, we have a larger enemy that has been attacking us for decades, and we’ve looked the other way. That enemy also got us to voluntarily sacrifice thousands of American men to hand Iraq from one group of them to the other and to sacrifice thousands of American men to build roads and hand out candy to those that hate us far worse than those who bombed Pearl Harbor. As I’ve noted previously on this site, Shimon Peres is a creep and a disaster for Israel. He’s been lurking in and around Israeli politics for decades with the single goal of taking Israel down from within. He did it as Israeli Prime Minister and now, again, as Israel’s President. He was the architect behind the Oslo Accords, which he pushed then-Israeli Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin into signing and which cost Israel thousands of lives and years of terrorist attacks. He’s also behind the other disasters, such as the “Road Map” for peace, the “two-state solution,” and so on, all of which made Israel ever weaker. Yet, he manages to have a 209 lives in Israeli politics and keeps coming back from the dead. And, now, this schmuck is praising Palestinian President-for-Life Mahmoud Abbass–the paymaster of the Munich Olympic terrorists, who has a Ph.D. in Holocaust denial–as “courageous” and “still a partner for peace,” despite this scumbag Abbas’ continued support for Islamic terrorism and his semi-successful statehood bid at the United Nations.

Can’t say I’m surprised by this because it’s Peres’ way. He’s always making excuses for and doing the bidding of Islamic terrorists, including Abbas. Now, he’s even complimenting and making excuses for him–and saying he trusts Barack Obama, which he’s said before because, after all, he’s the Israeli version of Obama and Jimmy Carter mixed into one complete a-hole. Disgusting:
