RIDICULOUS: Obama Judge Allows Absurd “Dr. Scholl’s Ruined My Life” Lawsuit to Proceed

By Debbie Schlussel

Wanna see how ridiculous a Barack Obama-appointed judge can get? Check out the case of Morway v. Dr. Scholl’s et al, the dumb lawsuit that newly-appointed Obama judge, the Honorable Gershwin Drain, refuses to dismiss. Read the lawsuit complaint (beginning on the fifth page here). The case has been going on since 2011.

drschollskillthelawyers

Debra Morway, a Detroit-area resident, is suing the makers of Dr. Scholl’s shoes and Walmart (where she bought them), claiming that Dr. Scholl’s sandals ruined her life. She says she is allergic to them and that buying and wearing the shoes inflicted mental and emotional distress upon her, that she lost past and future wages, and that she has been disfigured, humiliated, and disgraced by the shoes. Oh, and she also says she has lost career opportunities . . . all because of some sandals. Absurd. Read the rest of this entry »

Ari Sandel: Meet Movie Star Julianne Hough’s Anti-Israel Nutjob Boyfriend

By Debbie Schlussel

Here’s another one in the unfortunate category of pop culture’s negative influence on Middle East politics and jihad.

For those who don’t know, Julianne Hough is a rising B-list movie star who is Mormon (in name only). She rose from “Dancing With the Stars” dancer to cheesy lead actress in bad, anti-Christian, pro-gay musical and romance flicks (see “Footloose” remake, “Burlesque,” “Rock of Ages,” and “Safe Haven”–all movies I’ve reviewed and absolutely hated). Her father, Bruce Robert Hough, was twice the chairman of the Utah Republican Party, but apparently his politics didn’t sink in. After recently being dumped by Ryan Secrest, she’s now “dating” (euphemism) anti-Israel director Ari Sandel. It’s especially unfortunate because Hough–who is a cute, petite blonde and frequently wears very little–is often glamorized and hyped by all the celebrity gossip magazines, and many young girls view her as a role model.

Longtime readers may be familiar with Sandel because I interviewed this self-hating, anti-Semitic Jew and wrote about him when he was nominated for and won an Academy Award for his short film musical, “West Bank Story.” The movie is a disgusting exercise in morally equivocating Jewish Israeli victims of Islamic terrorism with their Palestinian Muslim terrorist attackers. When I interviewed Sandel, whose father is a far-left wacko Israeli, he echoed the tripe you commonly hear on Al-Jazeera . . . or worse. The guy is deranged.

Here’s a snippet:

The politics of “West Bank Story’s” Director and Co-writer, Ari Sandel, are illuminating. He is involved with several far-left organizations with an admitted agenda in the Middle East. That includes “Peace Now,” at whose events Sandel promoted his movie. Peace Now is a far-left group of Israelis that advocates giving the entire West Bank and half of Jerusalem to the Palestinians. It has repeatedly advanced discredited claims of Palestinian ownership of land in the West Bank and Jerusalem. Sandel recognizes a Palestinian state and has traveled to Dubai, where Israeli citizens are not allowed entry due to the Arab Boycott.

I interviewed Ari Sandel, earlier this week and was shocked by his incredible obtuseness and ignorance. Ditto for his views.
He said he refuses to take a position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and would not condemn Palestinian homicide bombings as evil on their own. He insisted that the Israelis were equally evil in killing Palestinians. I asked him if there’s a difference between Palestinians who deliberately blow up innocent civilians in a pizza shop and Israeli soldiers who accidentally hit civilians when they are trying to target terrorists and save lives. He refused to respond. Read the rest of this entry »

John Sandweg: Obama’s New Immigration Chief’s “Experience” is Defending Child Molesters, Wife Beaters, Drunk Drivers, Terrorists

By Debbie Schlussel

Several weeks before John Sandweg quietly assumed the job as Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the largest agency within Homeland Security, I was contacted by several top ICE officials warning me that this wet-behind-the-ears, completely unqualified person was about to take the reins. And sure enough, this FoJ (Friend of Janet–Napolitano), whose only experience is about a decade as a young lawyer, is now in charge of the agency which is supposed to enforce immigration law . . . but isn’t. Even worse, Sandweg has zero experience in law enforcement . . . unless you count his “experience” defending murderers, child molesters, wife beaters, and drunk drivers as a criminal defense attorney in Arizona, from where the Lesbionic woman, Napolitano, scooped him up from the state’s Democrat hacktivists.

Illegal Aliens Party On w/ John Sandweg In Charge @ ICE

Career ICE agents are aghast that Sandweg, who never even served as a prosecutor and has never engaged in any sort of law enforcement (several years of law enforcement experience are required for the job), is now running their agency. In his late 30s, Sandweg is known for defending Democrat Arizona State Senator Mark DeSimone after DeSimone hit his wife, cut her lip, and was charged with domestic violence. Not sure how this qualifies Sandweg to “run” ICE, unless you take into account the fact that many illegal aliens also engage in domestic violence repeatedly, and yet, THEY. ARE. STILL. HERE.

But, wait, there’s more. Sandweg also defended drunk driver Laura Varker, who killed her friend after her Yukon Denali hit another car and flipped over. I’m sure Sandweg advised her not to wear the “Cinco de Drinko” t-shirt she was photographed wearing on the day of her drunk driving spree. Again, how does this “experience” qualify John Sandweg to run ICE? Perhaps it’s the fact that many illegal aliens never deported by ICE are also drunk drivers who kill Americans. But that’s a stretch. Read the rest of this entry »

Happy Rosh HaShanah to My Jewish Friends & Readers

By Debbie Schlussel

As you read this, I’m out of online commission for the Jewish Holiday of Rosh HaShanah, which began last night at sundown. The holiday lasts for two days, so I will be away until Saturday Night (the Jewish Sabbath begins as the holiday ends). However, I’ve prepared a few posts in advance, which will go up in my absence–stuff you won’t read anywhere else but on this site (including my movie reviews on Friday). So, stay tuned. Below are a couple of my favorite pics (from my collection of Jewish-American military memorabilia) of Jewish-American soldiers in World War II at Rosh HaShanah services in 1944. Also, don’t miss the postcards I posted from Jewish-American soldiers serving in the U.S. Armed Forces in World War II that I posted in the past and the patriotic postcard from Jewish-Americans praying for America and victory in World War I as well as a couple of postcards of Israeli soldiers wishing a Happy New Year. I’ve posted these before, but they are evergreens in my book.

Jewish-American Soldiers at Rosh HaShanah Services During World War II, September 17, 1944

As I’ve noted before, although it’s called a “New Year,” Rosh HaShanah is not a time for partying and the like that you normally associate with “New Year” celebrations. It’s an earnest and serious time in which we spend a good deal of the day in synagogue praying that G-d will forgive us for our sins and inscribe us in the Book of Life, inscribe us for a year of health and happiness, success, and peace. It begins what is known in Judaism as the Ten Days of Repentance, which ends with Yom Kippur, when our fate is sealed. Read the rest of this entry »

John McCain Pulls a Michelle Malkin on Syria: Defends Jihad, Islamic Extremism

By Debbie Schlussel

Yesterday, John McCain got very upset with FOX News morning host Brian Kilmeade after Kilmeade said he had a problem with Syrian rebels yelling the jihadist Muslim slogan, “allahu akbur”–which means, allah is the greatest or greater (than your and my G-d)–after they shot down a fighter jet.

michellemalkinugly

Two of a Kind

But I’m not surprised by this ridiculous, hypocritical behavior on McCain’s part, because for me it was like deja vu all over again. Faux-conservative and eternal hypocrite Michelle Malkin, a complete fraud, did the same thing to me, as she defended a frequently used jihadist slogan, Islam’s oath of martyrdom, in order to attack me. At the same time, she also demonstrated a creepy pedophiliac crush she and the two hideous hags who run her self-masturbation site, Twitchy, have.

Last year, Muslims around the world, particularly in Turkey attacked me non-stop (and they still are) because I warned parents that One Direction pop group member, Zayn Malik, was proselytizing Islam on impressionable young girls around the world who are his fans. This led to death-threat-filled attacks on me (which Malkin praised, defended, and whitewashed) and a particular hashtag topping the worldwide trends of Twitter, something the extremely jealous and bitter Malkin has never been able to inspire. And, so, she and her hags attacked me on Twitchy, noting their unrequited love for teen Muslim Malik, and defending the Shehadah (see also here)–the Islamic oath of martyrdom that is front and center on the Al-Qaeda flag and is chanted at Muslim rallies for Hezbollah, HAMAS, and various terrorist groups. The oath states that the only god is allah and that the only prophet is Mohammed. Malkin thinks this is just swell, and let the world know this in her attack on me–and in one of her 36(!) posts declaring her crush on One Direction and its Muslim Zayn Malik, very weird pedophiliac behavior for a women who is almost 43 years old and a married mother of two. (Her hypocrisy and fraudulent behavior is nothing new. She took over $40,000 in cash from the financier of the New Black Panther Party, despite trying to build her career on attacking the scumbags. Cha-ching!)

So, here’s more of John McCain’s Malkin-esque–or, rather, Fraudkin-esque–behavior in support of the jihad, a jihad in Syria that I’ve been saying for the last couple of years, we should stay out of (yes, I said, “let allah sort it out,” long before Sarah Palin’s handlers told her to):

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) blasted Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade on Tuesday for questioning members of a Syrian opposition groups’ use of the phrase “Allahu Akbar” after what Kilmeade said “looks like a fighter jet being shot out of the sky.” Read the rest of this entry »

Got Amnesty?: Spanish Language Film Hits Top 5 Movies For Wknd; Tops Big Budget “Getaway”

By Debbie Schlussel

Over the weekend, there was a bad omen for those of us concerned about immigration amnesty, and it comes from movie theaters across America. A little noticed barometer of pop culture should be big news about where America is headed–that America’s Hispanic population is not only growing, but dominating the landscape.

illegalalienssmaller2.jpginstructionsnotincluded

This weekend, a Spanish-language comedy movie, “Instructions Not Included [No se Aceptan Devoluciones],” surprised Hollywood by debuting in the top five movies, beating out the much-hyped, big-budget “Getaway.” (The Wall Street Journal puts the movie in fifth place for the extended holiday weekend, but Box Office Mojo puts it in fourth place. See the graphic below.) Moreover, the movie is tops in box office take, making $22,594 per screen versus $5,777 for the number one movie, “One Direction: This Is Us.”

Click on Image to See the Whole Thing . . .

boxofficemojoinstructions

The movie’s success signals the growing influence of Hispanic America over, well . . . everything. And it’s not a good omen for the way we are headed on the immigration amnesty issue, whether or not you believe the conventional wisdom that most Hispanic U.S. citizens support amnesty (I do not and never have, La Raza et al notwithstanding).

Foreign language films are almost never in the top five. And the movie’s success in edging out “Getaway” is even more stark, when you consider that the Spanish movie was shown on only 347 screens versus 2,130 screens for “Getaway.” And compare “Instructions'” $22,594 per screen take versus “Getaway’s” $2,108 per screen. Even the over-hyped, fictional disgrace, “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” which added 220 screens this week for a total of 3,300 screens, only averaged $4,469 per screen or about a fifth of what the Spanish comedy took in. Yes, “Getaway” is a crappy movie (read my review). But that’s not the point, since a summary of the plot of “Instructions” (as found on IMDB) sounds like it could have been made by the Hispanic Tyler Perry: Read the rest of this entry »

Diana Nyad, Age, and the Real Labor Day

By Debbie Schlussel

The only real newsworthy labor, yesterday, was the tremendous accomplishment of swimmer Diana Nyad–becoming the first person to swim from Cuba to America without a shark cage.

diananyaddiananyad2

As overpaid union leaders marched in urban downtowns all over the country, the real laborers were and are those across America for whom every day is Labor Day because we work and aren’t protected into laziness and certain wages and job conditions by greedy organized far-left labor hacks. Their marches and other Labor Day parades and displays were a joke, as they’ve “protected” many Americans out of a job to the point that we long ago stopped being a manufacturing society and transformed into an unsustainable consumer and service society. Yes, we are now Mexico and China. And then there was Nyad.

Nyad, despite her leftist politics (she is a feminist, who was a trustee of the Women’s Sports Foundation–the Title IX baloney anti-male organization that seeks to have women dominate all sports and coaching), showed a youth-obsessed American culture, what an old lady can do. At age 64–which is like 80 in the sports world, Nyad yesterday accomplished what she (and everyone else) could not do in her twenties. (Kardashians, eat your hearts out.) And, in the American can-do/”don’t let ’em beat you” spirit (something sorely missing in today’s unions and union leaders especially), she tried five times, four of them failures. Wknd Box Office: Closed Circuit, Getaway, The Spectacular Now

By Debbie Schlussel

This Labor Day holiday weekend features a selection of new movies at theaters chock full of 9/11 conspiracy theories, over-hyped liberal BS, and a lot of waste of your time. It does not include any good movies, however. Note that I did not see “The Grandmaster,” which has gotten good reviews and probably warrants them. I will try to see that over the weekend and add my review. Here’s what I did see:

closedcircuitgetaway

spectacularnow

* “Closed Circuit“: An absurd 9/11 conspiracy theory fantasy thriller that is neither thrilling nor believable. But I’m sure the Ron Paulistinians and the one-third of dummies across America who are 9/11 Truthers will just love it (so will the Edward Snowden groupies). It’s kind of their wet dream, and it’s incredibly slow and boring. Read the rest of this entry »

If Fast Food Workers Make Double, Look Forward to $10 Burgers & Tacos; Madness @ Mickey Ds Where I Grew Up

By Debbie Schlussel

Today, fast food workers shut down a McDonald’s in the Detroit-area suburb of Southfield, Michigan, where I grew up (the McDonald’s in question is literally across the street from the City of Detroit). The store had no choice but to close because most, if not all, of its employees walked off the job to demand $15 per hour. Other than my strong belief in capitalism and free markets, I don’t have a dog in this fight because I don’t eat fast food. Because I keep kosher–and have all my life–I’ve never had a Big Mac, a Whopper, a Chilupa or Burrito Supreme from Taco Bell, or a roast beef sandwich at Arby’s (it looks good to me, though). So, if fast food restaurants in America chose to double the wages of these unskilled employees beyond what the market has already decided is the fair wage, it wouldn’t hurt me. The price of my food wouldn’t go up. But it would go up for anyone who eats at these places.

ronaldmcdonaldsad

And, in fact, families who rely–especially in this Obamaconomy on economically-priced “value meals” at McDonald’s, Burger King, and so on, well they would be hurt. Those families can’t afford to pay for a $10-$15 burger. And if they could, they’d be better off going to dine at a fancy restaurant, where many meals are exactly that price (at least here in the Detroit area). There would be no more dollar value meals on the menu for fast food customers. Because, after all, the doubled wages have to be made up somewhere. And business owners almost always pass off the added costs of labor on customers.

It would be suicidal for fast food restaurants to double workers’ pay. Their whole business model and market advantage is price (and tasty, quick food). Doubling workers’ pay would soon mean closing doors and workers losing their jobs. These workers simply have no grasp of economics . . . kinda like the President they voted for. Legalize Online Casino Gambling in New Jersey

By Debbie Schlussel

I support legalizing online gambling in New Jersey (and all other jurisdictions in the United States). And here’s why:

There is no reason to allow legalized gambling in the form of lottery tickets and Atlantic City casinos and not allow online casino gambling from the comfort of the gambler’s home. In fact, that might get rid of the blight that physical casino gambling causes in places like Atlantic City, where it sucks all the other physical surroundings and businesses dry, causing blight. And why should a state benefit from legalized gambling with lottery tickets when we know the money just encourages more spending? Plus a lot of the money from lottery tickets never even makes it to the schools as claimed.

Outlawing online casino gambling is hypocritical and doesn’t make sense.

Plus, some of the games that online casinos offer, like poker, aren’t really gambling because they involve a great degree of skill, logic, and reasoning.

I personally don’t gamble because I can’t afford to lose and I’m not a huge fan of gambling. But I’m a libertarian on this issue, and I believe that if you want to gamble, that should be your right. And if it’s your right, it should be legal in all forums, including online, not just at the gas station or convenience store where you buy lottery tix and not just at physical casinos. Let’s be consistent.
