Beck’s audience share prowess should be a concern throughout the FNC 8:00 to 11:00 PM time slot, especially if Beck’s numbers do not wane.

This is particularly shocking because” he is a Great American.” I know because eceryone who calls into his show tells him that he is & he always tells them that they are ” Great Americans “too. Maybe they were not so astute in their judgement of him??

Debbie – how correct you are about Beck stealing the limelight from Vannity. Beck has had ratings close to Vannity for a while, but since September 18, Beck has been beating Vannity in the ratings. Perhaps Vannity will go even deeper into the gutter to get better ratings by getting guests such as David Duke, Whoopi, Roman Polanski or Charles Manson. Do you think he would call these scumbags Great Americans?

PhilB…. Hannity’s feigned shock is disingenuous. He knew Traficant’s background and views and could have checked. He didn’t… which makes him incompetent or if he cleared him, that means he privately agreed with what Traficant was ranting off at length about. Either way, it doesn’t look good for a “great American” – or his judgment.

Hannity is obviously insecure, and he is afraid of Beck. Note how he never mentions him. His insecurity may be his undoing. Although I suppose that if any of us rose to such heights on radio & TV, and at such a young age we might have a few “issues” of our own. Nevertheless he needs to be called out for his love of anti-Jewish/anti-Israel guests. Nobody does this better than Debbie!

What I don’t understand about him is how he can wax eloquently in support of Israel and still he continues to invite anti-Semites onto his shows.

BZ: It’s good cop, bad cop. As I’ve noted, he himself cannot get away with saying the anti-Semitic, anti-Israel stuff he really thinks, so he brings plenty of guests on his show who say it for him (Buchanan, Traficant, Zogby, etc.), and he can feign shock and anger and fool the ignorant, naive fools who continue to believe in his fakery.

I wasn’t aware of the tie-in between Vannity and Mark Levin.

If someone is really a good talk show host(ess) they may have a few guests here and there, but they really don’t need them if they know what they are doing. For instance, Rush has guests only very infrequently. If a talk-show host or hostess has guests it either means they don’t have the wherewithal to conduct a show without help, or, as you said, they agree with the agenda of their guests, as in this case.

You know, I was thinking about you when I caught the end of Hannity’s Traficant radio interview. I couldn’t figure out why Hannity had him on – Traficant’s a convicted felon who has nothing to offer anyone about anything. I was thinking, “Maybe Hannity’s using Traficant to show that he can stand up for Israel.” Then I thought, “Something else is going on here; Debbie’ll figure it out.” If Hannity was sincere, he would have dis-invited Traficant from the t.v. show after his offensive radio remarks.

Apropos of nothing other than the above comments about strippers: I’ve known a few strippers in my time. You guys really don’t want to get involved with strippers. There’s a reason they’re strippers, and it has nothing to do with sex . . . and it won’t be the sex you’ll be spending your time trying to deal with.

Traficant used to be my congressman. No, I never voted for him. He’s an embarrassment who somehow kept getting re-elected with 80-90% of the vote. He was indicted several times for tax evasion but was acquitted. He took money from the mob as sheriff, admitted it, but said it was okay because he didn’t do anything in return. He was expelled from congress for being unethical and corrupt (I think only the second one since the Civil War) and served time in federal prison.

His old congressional district was broken up into three different districts to make sure he couldn’t get re-elected. He spoke at a tea party two hundred yards from my house. He is talking about running again for congress- I don’t think he can, what with the felony conviction- and could be elected if he’s eligible to run.

I’d never heard about antisemitism from him, but we focused on his corruption and his goofy antics (acted and talked like an old-time TV wrestler). I think I remember him once calling Capitol Hill ‘Israeli-occupied territory’, but I might be thinking of Buchanan, who used the line for certain. Still, I take your word for it. If Traficant said the sun was shining, I’d look out the window.

Hannity was never a rocket scientist. Yet he often has good guests, so I record ths show, then view only the parts I want.

Hannity has often been crude in his selection of guests. Trafficant is a loser, and doesn’t deserve time.
Why would anyone believe a crook like Trafficant can credibly discuss Israel?

Likewise, Bill O’Reilly had Prof Mark Lamont Hill to discuss Iran. Does it get worse than this?

It’s like NPR asking Juan Williams what he thinks of almost everything. Williams is a ‘Mr Nice Guy”, but I am unaware of his expertise on anything.

I’ve been telling my friends about Hannity for years, about how he’s an intellectual lightweight and can’t debate. He can only ask loaded yes and no questions. What I really can’t stand is how he brags about being humble. It makes me sick as a conservative that this guy is the face of my political beliefs.

Debbie and others are the ones who put themselves out their to get information on Islamic Radicals and Leftists. Yet, this guy is the one who makes millions.

I’m now intrigued by this whole private plane to Bakersfield thing. He has Ainsley, the cute blonde on his show doing segments. He has young female producers and screeners on the radio show. So, I wouldn’t be surprised.

As I mentioned yesterday, Vannity’s show was weak in comparison to what Greta van Susteren did:

she gave Trafficante way more speaking time and allowed him to slime da Jooozzz like I never heard it before.

Knock Vannity all you want, but in this case he is a mere copy cat, which probably makes it worse. At least he offered up some rebuttals, but Greta (the twit) was totally befuddled and never took Trafficante to task.

Levin should be ashamed of himself. He is a real fool for doing it. It is a real shame that Levin gives Hannity all of the cover that he does. One of these days I predict that Levin will wake up with egg all over his face because of his constant defending and giving support to Hannity.

I still say that Hannity should be kicked off of the air. Just send an e-mail to webmaster@wabcradio.com and put in the the subject line that it is addressed to the President of Citadel Media; Jim Robinson. I already did that. But, Levin will one day get what is coming to him with all of his support of Hannity. Mark my words.

One great funny moment though: Hannity and Levin doubleteaming on Alec Baldwin when he was on a liberal’s radio show on WABC (I can’t remember the name of the host – he is from Staten Island and is actually a very nice guy). I thought I would bust my gut when Levin asked Baldwin if he was 50 or 60 pounds overweight and asked why Kim Bassinger had left him. Baldwin stormed off the show leaving the host saying, “Alec? Alec? Is he gone?”

J: The only thing funny about it is that they need two of them for one Alec Baldwin. That should tell you something. Vannity and Baldwin are no different, except that one dicovered he could make a lot of money by pretending he’s conservative. Both are ignorant blowhards with empty heads (though Baldwin is far smarter than Vannity) and they’re almost entirely alike, but for that Alec Baldwin is honest about what he really thinks. DS

As for being anti-semite. Debbie, can you list some other actions Hannity has taken in the past? Are you saying he is lying for his support of Israel? I’m not aware of Hannity as an anti-semite. If he is, why would Murdoch keep him on?

I do not listen to his radio show ever. But I agree, if he had this slug on, he knew what he was. My question is, was Sean trying to stir controversy? He does stupid things at times. He’s had Code Pink on, etc., all kinds of vile radicals and other anti-Israel guest that he shoots down hard.

I’ve never thought of Hannity as being against Israel. I need to see more information than this. I thought Hannity shot down the scum during his show.

I know he’s always raised the issue of Iran and other idiots who want to destroy Israel. That does not square with being anti-semite. Since you track this or know his history, please point out more. I may just be uninformed.

After Traficant spouted off on the radio show, he should not have had him on his television show. As for Buchanan et al being guests, I think he and others like the controversy and they plug each other’s unreadable books. It took Michael Medved a while to finally come down hard on Buchanan in print but I recall their being guests on a tv show years ago and drooling over each other.

After reading the phrase “anti-Semitic, anti-Israel” repeated so often in these columns, I have to point out that Hannity, or anyone else of his ilk could easily be both anti-Semitic and emphatically pro-Israel. Many hard-core evangelicals and charismatic Catholics have a theological pro-Israel agenda, but hate Jews. If I were a fly on the wall in Rick Santorum’s house, I’d be listening intently for just such sentiments. If the KKK could support Marcus Garvey, why should the Bible-thumpers have any problem with Zionism? Of course, Hannity could just as easily be motivated by something more central to his core, ratings.
