I find reverse descrimination as disgusting as descrimination. I feel that derogatory comments are derogatory regardless of who says them, just because you are the minority does not make it correct. He should be called out on this as if he were any other politician. Where is the ACLU on this issue?

If this means white people’s tax money is not needed or wanted to rebuild New Orleans I am all for it. I am sure if Nagin contacts all the rich rap stars, Oprah, rich movies stars like Halle Berry and the rest he will have plenty of money for his peeps. Go for it!

There’s no such thing as “reverse racism”. That’s a falacy! The only term that applies is simply RACISM! And that’s what this is. Nagin gets a pass on being a dumb, ignorant, racist (again!) by the mainstream. Nagin is calling for Chocolate and it will most certainly be tainted by nuts (like him) again. Nagin should go back to San Antonio, where he lives and let the people with a real plan for the viability of New Orleans worry about the rebuilding of that city.

I am so sick of Sugar Ray. First, he lets his city and its school busses drown in Lake Ponchatrain coming in through the levees, he goes on television, swearing, and panicking from an “undisclosed location,” then he goes, “OK, everybody; New Orleans is safe to return to. Come on back,” just as another Hurricane is headed right for Texas… Lots of other things I have forgotten.
And now this.
This fool needs to be fired, if not in jail. And you’re right; if a White mayor ever said what he said about his city–that it is going to be a primarily White city, because God would want it that way… You could guarantee there’d be death threats on his life, there would be outrage in the MSM, there would be demands for his resignation… And while all of that would be the appropriate reaction to have, the fact that we definitely will not see any of that for Mayor Nagin is just disgusting to me. Shame on him, and shame on a society that continues to allow figureheads like him to perpetuate this “reverse” racism.

I can’t defend the comments by Eminem’s Revenge or by Mayor Nagin. The song, however, is just a playful expression of ethnic pride, not racial demagoguery. There is really no getting around the fact that African-Americans have their own culture like any other ethnic group in this country, so why shouldn’t they celebrate it? Now I have no problem with going after certain poisonous anti-Western aspects of Black culture which started on the lunatic fringes but spread throughout it like a cancer, but I don’t really see that in this song or most of P-Funk’s other songs. On the other hand, I don’t think it’s appropriate to quote a song like this on Martin Luther King Day or to use it in a serious political context.

I wouldnt mind seeing a Chocolate city. It doesnt scare me to see Black people come together and have pride and say they want there city for them. Nagin has been under criticism for intentially exlcuding black people out so more capital investment can come to New Orleans. New Orleans is A city, that for years has been tormented by poverty, crime and horible schools and Racism, trust me its there. It does bother me that a perdominantly black city is poor, and mean while, some areas of the city, upper class or “white” are clean, have jobs, and find a way to send there kids to the excellent schools. Well maybe its not racism, maybe its nepitism, or classic good ol boys networking, either way, a african-american man with a odd comment about self empowerment is the lease of our worries. Having a chocalate city will not get anybody lynched, ignore other races who are in poverty, or exclude any other person from receiving the American Dream. Yes, it does bother me what he said, but racsim, I dont think so. I have heard my friends and cousins say some racist comments about black people and what Nagin said was nothing. Still dont make it right, but I think he has good intentions.
