Google Ignores 9/11, Yet Again; Interview w/ Pentagon Survivor; UPDATE: Bing Remembers, Dogpile, Too

By Debbie Schlussel

****  SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATES  ****

Every day, on this site, we recognize the ongoing threat of Islam from without and within this country’s borders.  So 9/11 is not an unusual day where we suddenly remember again that, “Oh, yeah! Muslims attacked us.  Now, let’s get back to Oprah’s favorite things and Brangelina.”

On google, today, is also like every other day on that site.  And, as we’ve noted in past years (and so has our friend, Preston Taylor Holmes of Six Meat Buffet), this isn’t the first time.  Reader Eric:

google911

Hey Debbie,

I think it’s worthy to note that Google, who changes their logo for every marginal holiday, has done nothing to note 9/11. This bothers me at some very deep level. While others in the blogosphere have commented, I think something like this deserves the level of exposure which you can bring to bear. Other search engines have managed to take note of the occasion, why not the 800 lb gorilla?

Because Google goes out of its way to ignore a lot of important, patriotic American holidays and somber occasions of note–that’s why. And that should tell us all something. Google loves being in its swanky offices America, and its execs and two creators love living in their swanky American homes with all the accoutrements one can dream of. But when it comes to actually loving America and respecting it, well . . . not so much.

Meanwhile, someone who does respect America, Jim Bennett, has a good interview with Lt. Col. Brian Birdwell, a 9/11 Pentagon survivor and his wife, Mel, who are devout Christians.  Read it.

And, last but not least, reader Doda McCheesle made this great 9/11 sign that is the real 9/11 Truth!

**** UPDATE: Reader Shawn points out that, unlike Google, the Bing search engine does in fact remember the 9/11 attacks today and sends this image:

**** UPDATE #2: Many readers have noted that Dogpile remembered 9/11, too. UNLIKE Google.

That’s why I use Dogpile (www.dogpile.com). They always commemorate not only American holidays like Memorial Day and 4th of July, but they also remember 9/11. And to my knowledge, they don’t kowtow to the chinese government and allow censorship of their search engine.

Janne on September 11, 2009 at 7:05 pm

In case my wording is off, I didn’t mean to make it sound like 9/11 is a holiday. I meant that it is an important date in American history that Dogpile recognizes. Sorry for any confusion.

Janne on September 11, 2009 at 7:07 pm

We wont forget…..911 was an ISLAM JOB!!!!!

BIG IRISH on September 11, 2009 at 7:21 pm

Another search engine to note is Dogpile. They too have a proper and respectful front page today, saying “On Patriot Day, we remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001” with a corresponding graphic.

While Google has also refused to recognize Memorial Day, they have gladly changed their logo for the Australian version, known as ANZAC Day.

I’m switching to Dogpile.

Why should anyone care about Google using alternate logos? Don’t we have bigger things to worry about?

Just Joe on September 11, 2009 at 8:35 pm

Who cares? Today was an ordinary day. I went to work, I did my job, and now I’m at home on the computer.

Libertarian Bulbasaur on September 11, 2009 at 9:39 pm

Libertarian Bulbasaur – would you please expound on your “Who cares?” statement?

Jarhead on September 12, 2009 at 12:10 am

I too went to work, did my job, went home and used the computer…..but all with a HEAVY HEART. This is a day, that no matter how many years go by, it will always be MORE THAN A WHERE WERE YOU DAY? To me it is a day of profound sadness, and grief. Perhaps you were lucky enough not to have lost someone, or knew someone who lost someone, but, if you sit at that computer of YOURS, if its in the USA, you along with the rest of us lost almost 3000 people. A city skyline changed forever, and a generation also changed. We are left now in the wake of a world who is petrified of Islamic terror, as well we should be. Who cares? G-d willing, EVERYONE CARES!! You sadden me.

barri glick on September 12, 2009 at 11:13 am

    Who cares? Hmmm…

I too went to work, and did my job (on the computer). Of course, my job is in Manhattan- so I could look out my window and notice the view is quite different from the view I had on September 10th, 2001.

I could think about the fact that 2 of my brothers narrowly missed DEATH in the now-missing-from-the-skyline Twin Towers. One of them had the joy, honor, and privilege of seeing people falling to their deaths, rather than get burned to death…these images of course burned into his memory for the rest of his life.

I care. I care that over 3,000 of my fellow citizens, human beings- EARTHLINGS, are no longer with us because of what happened on 9/11/2001.

And I care that worthless ignoramuses are still confused about the “true” cause of the events of that day, and are blissfully unaware that the MUSLIM terror murder attacks of 9/11/2001 were nothing more than yet another event in a 1,400 year WAR THEY have been engaged in against EVERYONE, including their own “brothers”.

I care that another 14,000 + MURDEROUS attacks have been perpetrated in the name of ISLAM, SINCE 9/11/2001…killing thousands more innocent human beings…and that YOU don’t care.

I care that muslims murder more of their fellow muslims in a MONTH than US defensive military action has done in a year.

I care- because if nobody cared, what’s the point? Of anything? Live and let live? Live the animalistic life of “birth, recreate, die”? That’s a life worth living? For you maybe. But not for me. Of course, I’m one of those nuts who believe in God too- so I see a purpose and point to life, as I believe in both an after-life and a “World to Come”. And caring about our fellow humans is part of the “price of admission”.

Which also means I don’t blindly hate either. I don’t believe “all muslims should die”. I hope and pray that those who truly believe in God will see the error of their ways in choosing violence…but this is a major issue since islams hadiths issue wonderful instructions to true “believers”, such as “Oh muslim- the day [of judgement] will not come until you fight the Jews and slaughter them”. So without a major reformation, I care- I care greatly about islam and its adherents. And I’m not stupid- when they come for me, I will defend myself by any means possible.

Doda McCheesle on September 13, 2009 at 9:33 am

Doda McCheesle, While I agree with %99 of what you wrote I have to argue with you about one point. Not all Atheists are mindless leftard dhimmis. I happen to be an atheist. I also have a great set of morals based on common sense, the law, family upbringing, military schooling, and life experience. As an Atheist I don’t hate Jews or Christians. I do hate most muslims though for this simple fact. I happened to serve in the US Navy for 6 years ending in 2004, which included extended tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. Not to mention I read the koran. I also read the bibles (new and old testament) I am also a disabled combat veteran, one of those vets who came home after their tour with TBI Traumatic Brain Injury which has changed my life forever. Sadly I cannot ever work again. I am in pain 24/7, and I do to the core believe my sacrifice is worth it. Perhaps you think all Atheists are traditional values hating leftards who want to destroy America and you have a right to think that way because sadly a lot of Atheists have been fooled by the self hating retards. I happen to be much different though, and I happen to be on your side for the most part as well.

I inform you that I am a disabled OEF & OIF veteran because actions speak louder than words, and my actions of service prove that I love my freedom, love my country, and am willing to die for those values as well.

To all you Dhimmis who are nothing but spineless cowards don’t worry your time is coming. We who know combat, and know about defending freedom will trounce you antiwar leftist cowards when the time comes. Ask a bookie about who has the better odds, a combat proven veteran or some college brainwashed dirty hippie who refuses to take up arms to defend the things that are worth defending… So enjoy it now lefttards, your time is coming to an end by vote or perhaps by force and IMHO I kind of hope it ends up being by force because then we won’t have to let you leech your freedoms anymore.

Lastly Debbie keep fighting the good fight. You are a fearless woman and they attack you because of your righteousness and fearlessness…………

Aldasfail on September 14, 2009 at 12:27 am

Thanks for the reply… and thanks for your Service. YOU are a TRUE HERO. I didn’t intend anything in my reply to be a rant against atheists, although, honestly, I don’t really understand Atheism.

But to anyone who has served the USA in any capacity, be at military or services like police and fire, I applaud you- regardless of your personal religious beliefs…which are quite irrelevant when it comes to showing the fact that YOU CARE about your fellow human beings- your fellow U.S. Americans. THAT’S what makes YOU a good person.

Doda McCheesle on September 14, 2009 at 12:39 pm

Google sucks and is spying on its users without their consent. I am using bing and firefox search engines more often. Yeah that poster 9/11 was an Islam Job is so true. I will save that one.

CaliforniaScreaming on September 11, 2009 at 11:09 pm

It has no considerations, aside from financial ones.

sorrow01 on September 12, 2009 at 1:48 am

Hey – I wrote the same thing to David Appletree who linked me to this article:

This is unnecessary. Google is a SEARCH ENGINE which serves the better part of the internet users. This statistic definitely includes Muslims who might get offended (since you know how touchy our muslim friends are, case and point being the infamous Mohammad cartoon in that Scandinavian paper). Why should it, then, lose profit for an ideal? I mean, this is unscrupulous Capitalism we are talking about here. Just looking at it from their perspective. Also, the ‘marginal’ holidays the article mentions are just that – holidays, which are not politically charged nor do they relate to a current event which has caused so many deaths. I don’t think you are proving anything by taking a bloody search engine to the gallows.

Gil on September 12, 2009 at 10:49 am

Gil – it is called not compromising your principles. I know this is not exactly the same, but would you give money to a charity that provides services that people want even though they support Hamas?

You also wrote: “this is unscrupulous Capitalism we are talking about here.” Your logic is flawed. This is Capitalism at its best. If people don’t like a company or organization, they can take their dollars elsewhere. Just because someone says you should not support something doesn’t mean you have to obey them. It’s called freedom of choice.

Jarhead on September 12, 2009 at 11:15 am

The fact is Google does not make logos for sad or solemn occasions and never really have. They make quirky, fun and cartoonish logos for things anniversaries of positive events like the moon landing, president’s and scientists birthdays, Hallmark Holidays and other major holidays. They try to remain secular and apolitical, hence the focus on those trivial holidays. Obviously you are not familar with the nature of Google logos. What’s Google supposed to do, make a cartoonish logo with burning twin towers? I bet you’d be insulted either way.

I put that graphic by Doda McCheesle on my blog, and linked it to your web site.

If Google doesn’t make logos for sad or solemn occasions, how is it they have recognized Australia’s Memorial Day while ignoring America’s Memorial Day?

See for yourself:
http://www.google.com.au/logos/anzac_day06.gif

They are just one of the many anti-American islamo pandering corporations which aims to appease followers of the “moon god”. And google is pretty blatant in showing their colors (literally).

“If Google doesn’t make logos for sad or solemn occasions, how is it they have recognized Australia’s Memorial Day while ignoring America’s Memorial Day?”

I did a search and found that Google finally decided to do something for Memorial Day this year. They put up a respectful yellow ribbon on their logo and people still got insulted over it! Whats the designer supposed to do, how do you draw a cartoon to commemorate something like this. At the end of the day, it’s just a search engine. They haven’t directly acknowledged specific religious holidays like Christms, Ramadan, Hannukah either but I bet if they did, there sure would be a lot of people upset no matter what they did or didn’t do. This is why they haven’t in the past and I don’t think they will start either. They cannot win either way.

col on September 14, 2009 at 12:44 pm

I stopped using Google after they began censoring the web for the Chi-coms. It has become clear that the company is run by avowed leftist. I don’t know why any freedom loving person would want to use their services.

Again the slime of liberals. An emo piece of shit liberal takes the cake and makes a joke of 9/11. Anyone in Richmond, Virginia should beat the shit out of this POS. Who needs bin Laden when we got liberals destroying us within.

Eight years later only 3 letters come to my mind now when I think of the attacks on this country…C I A!

And just what about these articles

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/1550366.stm

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4587368/

And from that link above…

“WASHINGTON, May 16, 2002 – President Bush was expected to sign detailed plans for a worldwide war against al-Qaida two days before Sept. 11 but did not have the chance before the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, U.S. and foreign sources told NBC News.

The document, a formal National Security Presidential Directive, amounted to a “game plan to remove al-Qaida from the face of the earth,” one of the sources told NBC News’ Jim Miklaszewski.

The plan dealt with all aspects of a war against al-Qaida, ranging from diplomatic initiatives to military operations in Afghanistan, the sources said on condition of anonymity.”

And Debbie all I can say about your cousin is this…he was among the sacrificial lambs for the global takeover by foreign banks like Goldman Sachs and their political pawns called the NWO.

This is not about the false left-right paradigm the foreign money owned Operation Mockingbird media possesses, it’s about right and wrong. What happened on that day 8 years ago was beyond wrong.

And one more thing, Bin Laden worked for the CIA!

Jarhead,

I dont see how my logic is flawed. Unscrupulous means raw, so the rawest form of capitalism is one which disregards politics and principles, a form where firms are strictly profit maximizers and are rarely bounded by any moral framework. Sure this is an extreme, and Google does have some moral guidelines but their raison d’etre is to make money, which definitely blurs these ‘moral principles’ set forth.

Now the Hamas example is very extreme indeed, in fact so much that it can hardly be used in this context. That Google didnt commemorate 9/11 would scarcely encourage terrorist attacks. The opposite is also true – If it would have commemorated it, would it really discouraged terrorists from planning further attacks? No – The reverse: it would have been an almost ubiquitous reminder to all potential terrorists of the triumph of their coreligionists and might have only inspired them to plan more.

Anonymous Twit – Google celebrated the Australian Memorial Day because come on – its Australia, not the US. Its a continent in its own right and is as apolitical as a country gets. Plus Kevin Rudd looks like a cool guy 🙂

But the point is, that google indeed attempts to remain as apolitical as they can, especially so that political activists like those that are rampant on this blog will not get offended by any massage. I mean why did Google not celebrate Ramadan?

What is your opinion on Building 11? If you don’t know, building 11 was situated fairly close to the Two Towers, and was completely destroyed but had not direct contact with either of the planes, or building shrapnel.

Side note:Perhaps Google feels that 911 was such a tragedy, and still so fresh in our minds, that it is hard to already turn it into a national holiday.

It was a terrible event and I dont want to place it in a similar category as Thanksgiving or Haloween.

Any thoughts?

Jeremy on September 14, 2009 at 4:31 pm

Everybody needs to remember what happened on 9/11 because too many people have let how we felt at that time slowly recede from our minds. People have slowly been going back to a 9/10 mentality, which suits the Democrats just fine. The Democrats need us to become complacent so that they can continue to decimate our military might in order to appease our enemies and make us a nation of pussies who won’t stand up for what is right and just. Justice will never be served until we kill all of our enemies, which unfortunately has become a nationless, non-uniformed, cowardly band of miscreant Muslim savages who hide behind women and children and use mosques as their sanctuaries. Democrats need us to forget so that they can continue their world apology tour for America’s greatness and force us to accept a united world utopia where everybody is equal. They want us to give up our standing in the world as a leader in freedom’s righteousness, where other countries have been given the opportunity to become free people because of the U.S. Our resolve as a world leader in liberty must never be comprimised.

As the greatest President of the 20th century put it, Ronald Reagan said, “America is a shining city upon a hill whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere.” We must never waver from our predominence in the world as put forth by our founding fathers.

Jarhead on September 15, 2009 at 11:51 am

You make an intersting point. But don’t you think our founding fathers would be dissapointed at how seperate our country has become (democrats/republicans)?

We can never be the “shining city” if we continue to fight amongst each other in the dark….

Building 11.

While I do think Google should recognize 9/11 (it’s an American company, damnit), I am appalled at the racism on this site. Why hate Islam because a very small minority of them choose to be extremists? There is no justification for murder, but at the same time, just because a few people choose to kill doesn’t mean the whole religion does! For example, Christians have killed for their religion just as much as Muslims have in the past, but that gets no light in America. Most religions have extremists like this, sadly, but what is more sad is that Ms. Schlussel refuses to recognize the faults of religions other than Islam.
