Who’s Gonna Win The Big Game?
Who’s gonna win the big game, tomorrow? As you may know, I’m a University of Michigan grad, and I have a love-hate (mostly hate) relationship with my alma mater.
I’m proud to be a Michigan alumna, but I hate that the place is sooooo bleepin’ liberal, anti-American, anti-military, anti-Israel, and anti-Semitic. It is so left-wing there that it was truly lonely to be there during my four years as an undergrad there. Even a lot of the “conservatives” and “pro-Israel” students on campus were actually moderates, weaklings, and backstabbing infighters who really weren’t as committed as they claimed. They often enabled the far-left haters and kowtowed to them.
Most of my professors were ideological dogma programmers (with very few, very rare exceptions, such as Carl Cohen and Gregory Markus, both very fair and very interested in teaching students how to think, not what to think).
Also, my distant cousin, the loathsome University of Michigan President Mark Schlissel, is as big a panderer to anti-Semites and America-haters as there is. If only five percent of Jewish donors to Michigan withdrew their contributions, that quisling would stop all of the hate and put an end to the crap in a second. Sadly, that ain’t happening.
That said, when it comes to unimportant things and meaningless (but fun) bragging rights, I’m all in for the Michigan team.
Well, . . . almost all in. While I root for my school’s team in tomorrrow’s big game against our intrastate rival, Michigan State University (MSU), I loathe Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh, for several reasons. The guy is a celebrity, not a football coach. But worse than that, he’s basically a liberal politician with a whistle around his neck.
As I detailed on this site, Harbaugh apologized to openly anti-Semitic, Israel-boycotting Muslim students (who yelled “annihilate the Jews!” in Arabic at a rally) for daring to show the film “American Sniper” to his football team. The meeting was not open to the public or the media, and he’s refused to comment about it publicly. Frickin’ wimp.
And Harbaugh’s supported, hosted, and attended rallies for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, and he openly supported and defended he despicable actions and statements of Colin Kaepernick. On top of that, I was a freshman when Harbaugh was a fifth-year senior at Michigan, and, boy, could I tell you some stories. He’s not a good dude. Just sayin’.
So, disregarding all that, I am still rooting for Michigan in Saturday’s game against State. Who’s gonna win? I predict Michigan by a touchdown. What do you think?

A year or two ago, I read an article about social cues that inform who is more likely to vote Democrat or Republican. The article noted that liberal Democrats are more likely to be Michigan fans, and Republicans are more likely to be Michigan State fans. I’m one of the exceptions to that, but, as you know, I like to buck trends. Sometimes, it’s good to be different.
