New Feminist Discrimination Claim: Gay Male Designers Too Dominant; Not Enough Chicks

By
I used to think that gay men were the one sacred cow of feminists–the one group of men that they didn’t totally hate and maintain as a target of their attacks. Straight, masculine men, bad; gay, effeminate men (who act like women), good–was the philosophy of the Gloria Steinem, bra-burning (and now sagging) crowd.
But now, I’ve been disabused of that notion.
Fashion designer Tara Subkoff is whining that fashion “is a gay man’s profession” and that women are somehow discriminated against. The New York Times reports on Subkoff’s further claims that Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, only supports young, gay male designers.
I think I smell a push for a new brand of feminist affirmative action–this time in the fashion industry.

Tara Subkoff’s “Imitation of Christ”:

Gee, I Wonder Why No-One’s Wearing That.

I’m no supporter of gay rights, but puh-leeze. The fashion industry is capitalism. It’s purely market driven. If you’ve got it, you’ve got it. Subkoff’s own clothing line–the blasphemous, sacrilegiously named “Imitation of Christ”–is one of the hottest lines of jeans in fashion, today. It has nothing to do with her gender or her sexual preference. Ditto for Juicy Couture, run by two straight, married women.
The Wall Street Journal recently ran a front-page story about struggling new designers, focusing on Derek Lam (ostensibly gay and definitely male). Despite having the Bush twins wearing his designs, he is struggling–a lot more than Subkoff and her “Imitation of Christ” Line. Most of the others profiled were gay males, who were barely surviving.
So, if feminist whiners like Subkoff have their way, what’s next–quotas for feminist women designers in Manhattan’s “Fashion Week” fashion shows? Or special set-asides for straight, female designers on Seventh Avenue and at Bloomingdales?
Like most wines, this is one fine whine that doesn’t look good spilled on fashion. I suppose next we’ll be hearing complaints by feminists about gay males in the cosmetics, hairstylist, and flight attendant fields.

What nonsense! It IS Capitalism.
Can you imagine a bunch of guys going on the offensive because there were no male strippers dancing at Scores, or because there weren’t any guys wearing tight, skimpy midriffs exposing their chests at Hooters?
C’mon!

EARTH to DEBBIE!!!
You’re more than likely gonna DELETE THIS COMMENT…but juxtaposed next to the “perfect” Beth O i think YOU are the PURRfect 10!!!
WHY???
Stern’s peroxide ‘perfection’ babe IS the homoerotic pin up girl that WAS Twiggy AND the Sixties…YOU, on the other hand, represent WHAT a woman IS supposed to look like…period!!!
While all these mini-you-know-whats MAY put YOU up on a pedestal…i hope your hips are wide and you thighs are thick……the better it is to wrap ’round _________________

After that last post, I hope Debbie is still girding her loins.

Thanks for the compliment, but sorry to disappoint you. I’m thin–in hip and thigh, etc.

Debbie, I caught one of the Project Runway shows a week or so ago. There was this guy in the elimination at the end who actually became hysterical and cried. It was bizarre. Kinda like looking at a vehicle accident.

Eminem’s Revenge,
Maybe Star Jones will be available soon. There’s always Monique and Camryn Manheim.
I know Beth O is a model, but to me she is just not that attractive. Just something weird about her. Stern’s first wife was much more attractive.

I couldn’t ask for better entertainment, women sluts vs. homos. I couldn’t care less about this hissy fight. Maybe Springer can sign these girls for a show.
Great quotes in the NY Times article, such as “A disproportionate number of fashion designers are male and homosexual.”
Duh! This ranks with fire is hot, Shaquille O’Neal is really tall, and Debbie is a hottie.
“”Gay men stick together like a band of brothers,” Subkoff said in an interview.”
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!
Yet another example of the do as I say, not as I do lefty position. Feminazis love the homos till it affects their income.
You go girlfriends. Meowwwwwwwwwwww!!

It was written by either a militant Femi-Nazi on “Punch” Schulzberger’s payroll, or a self-hating sodomite!

This is why Blabra Streisand is considered the ultimate “fag hag”….until the time when she pressed charges against someone who took pics of her and Mr. Streisand (James Brolin) in a car and was chased down and arrested – research it!
Blabra Streisand (btw, who is rumored to have appeared in a late 1950’s porn flick before she hit it big…just as Sly Stallone appeared in a porn flick before he became famous (fact) – research this, too) is the ultimate hypocrite!

It’s amazing the in-roads the gays have made recentl. Yesterday at Elton John’s wedding, gays came out in full support for Feingold in’08.
