Jewish George Michael Was Anti-Israel, Pro-Palestinian; Muslim Arab Boyfriend
Most people are unaware that George Michael, who died recently, was Jewish and that he was pro-Palestinian.
Pop star Michael, who died on Christmas day (Sunday), was born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou and had a hit with the song, Last Christmas. But his mother was Jewish and, therefore, according to Jewish law, so was he. He told the L.A. Times that his “duality”–his conflicting roles and statements in life–can be traced to his Jewish heritage.
His maternal grandmother was Jewish but married a Gentile and raised her children with no knowledge of their Semitic heritage. This was during World War II, and “she thought if they didn’t know that their mother was Jewish, they wouldn’t be at risk,” Michael said. His mother was sent to convent school, effectively obliterating any traces of his grandmother’s faith. Years later, when Michael finally told his parents he was gay, “that situation and that honesty threw my family into absolute chaos,” he said. “Not because of my sexuality but because of the idea of truth in the family.”
(Jewish law descends from the maternal side. If your mother is Jewish, so are you. If her mother is Jewish, she’s Jewish, and so are you . . . and so on.)
But like many far-left celebrities of Jewish heritage, Michael was pro-Palestinian and teamed up with several openly anti-Israel pop stars (including Annie Lennox, who proudly boycotts Israel) for a song to “raise money for Gaza,” which means HAMAS. CNN reported that the song was so anti-Israel and so biased, that even Israel-hating BBC refused to play it.
In a move set to plunge the BBC into further controversy, BBC Radio 2 has announced it will not be playing the new charity single for Gaza . . . . [It] is the brainchild of Annie Lennox, also featuring contributions from George Michael, Bono, Sting, Chris Martin, Amy Winehouse . . . . Radio 2 Controller Bob Shennan denied that they were banning the song ‘Palestine: Look, it’s Actually Really Complicated’ for reasons of political bias. . . . A 45 second rap from Dizzee Rascall covers the Irgun terrorist attacks of 1937-1948 and sketches out details of the key European ideologues that have shaped Hamas’ current political ideology.
The story may be a parody (as I can find no record of it elsewhere), but Michael was very close with Christ Martin and Lennox, both of whom are very openly anti-Israel and boycott the place. As I’ve noted, Martin even raised money for a pro-HAMAS organization that teaches kids to become jihadists, and promoted the multi-artist single “Freedom for Palestine,” which calls Israel’s defense of its citizens against terrorism, “crimes against humanity” and accuses the country of “apartheid.”
Did Michael boycott Israel? It looks like it. I found absolutely no record of George Michael and/or Wham! ever performing in Israel, even though many of their contemporaries did. (A google search does turn up YouTube videos alleging that they are of Michael performing in Tel Aviv, but if watch them, as I did, they turn out to be merely videos of people dancing at clubs, where Michael’s recorded tunes are being played.) The only documented visit by Michael to Israel was for a 2001 wedding of a photographer friend of his. Video and details of his visit are here.
Michael’s boyfriend since 2011 was a Muslim Arab hairdresser, Fadi Fawaz, and as I always say, pillow talk is the most effective form of speech. Even though he is gay, Fawaz is Muslim first . . . and that almost always means Jew-hating and anti-Israel.
Yes, I know it is more important and more harmful that politicians–like Barack Obama and John Kerry–are anti-Israel.
But those who ignore pop culture, ignore the most powerful–and harmful–influence on American attitudes and, therefore, ultimately, policy.
And Israel is the only place in the Middle East where George Michael–who was openly gay–would be able to live his lifestyle freely without being persecuted and facing death. That’s the case in the rest of the Middle East, where Muslims and Arabs rule the roost.

Bono too, huh? Speaking of someone who should know better. Shame on all of them. Schmucks. Thank you, Debbie.
