On MLK Day, New “Civil Right” of Oscar Nom for Bad Movies – Crappy Black Movies’ Lives Matter

By Debbie Schlussel

He Marched & Died . . . So This Gazillionaire Could Bitch About the Oscars?

A haughty Black actress thinks winning an Academy Award is a civil right. Crappy Black Movies’ Lives Matter.

Every year on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I’ve written about how racist Muslims have hijacked the memory and image of King for their own jihadist purposes. I’ve also pointed out that MLK was vocally pro-Israel and correctly pointed out in an appearance at Harvard, that being anti-Israel equal being anti-Semitic and Jew-hating. But I’ve grown tired of that. Tired because this federal holiday is now used for the dumbest of things: the latest of them, gazillionaire Hollywood Blacks whining that crappy, anti-Semitic, and lying Black movies deserve an Oscar nomination . . . and that if that doesn’t happen, it’s the same as slavery, denying Blacks the right to vote or use the same drinking fountain or bathroom, etc.

It’s ridiculous. The latest is this talentless hack, Jada Pinkett Smith, whose claim to fame is that–when she is not sleeping with other women–she is sleeping with and married to actor Will Smith. She and Mr. Smith live in a giant mansion and have enough gazillions to fund a Scientology charter school. They have enough money to shower on extremist Los Angeles-area mosques that hate Black people. And they have enough money to spoil their kids so rotten that their son, Jaden, wears Batman outfits and other crazy, attention-seeking get-ups to proms and other events. (Apparently that worked since the male Jaden is now the new supermodel face of Louis Vuitton’s women’s clothing line.)

So, today, in order to remember–or, rather, not remember–the people who died for Blacks to get equal rights, including the right to vote, Ms. Pinkett Smith is telling America’s Blacks to be separatists because her husband’s crappy, lying “Concussion”–a total bore–didn’t get an Oscar nod and because the racist, anti-Semitic, defamatory “Straight Outta Compton” didn’t get an Oscar nomination. Um, those movies sucked. Yes, I didn’t yet post my review of those (and I will soon, G-d-willing and be back to regular, timely movie reviews each Friday). But those movies stank. They weren’t good. And they weren’t worthy of Oscar nods, just because the people in them have a darker skin complexion.

We must stand in our power!

We must stand in our power.

Blach, blah, blah. STFU.

I don’t like Hollywood. And most of the movies nominated for this year’s Academy Awards have an agenda–a left-wing agenda. I don’t defend the choices, except for “The Revenant,” which is also a politically-correct, lying movie (I’ll tell you why in my review I hope to post in the next couple of days), but still a good one. Still, any of the movies nominated–no matter how much I hated most of ’em–are far better made and acted in, than any of the Black movies this year. No offense, but “Creed” (read my review), while decent, isn’t a masterpiece. Just sayin’.

Also, these left-wingers who control Hollywood and vote on Oscar nominations and winners, are the same ones who propelled Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith to riches, wealth, and luxury beyond their wildest dreams. They live better than most White Americans. And because of that wealth, they live freer and have more robust civil rights than most White Americans.

So, it’s disgusting to see this Ms. Thang, Jada Pinkett Smith, liken a temporary lack of Black nominations for crappy movies to some sort of major civil rights violation, to the point that she’s saying Blacks should not only boycott the Oscars, but Hollywood in general. Well, I wish she and her hubby had boycotted Hollywood from the beginning of their professional careers . . . so that Pinkett Smith could be a waitress living on minimum wage instead of in several mansions. Um, a fake gold mini statue ain’t a civil right, sister. Ditto for Spike Lee, who is one of the biggest anti-White racists and Jew-haters in Hollywood, and has announced he won’t attend the Oscars over “racism.” Hilarious. Hollywood should be boycotting him, not the other way around. And, by the way, his Chi-Raq “movie” was unwatchable . . . but highly suitable for Gitmo torture material. If that movie were nominated for any Oscars, then it would definitely be cause for boycotting the awards show.

If Jada Pinkett Smith wants to whine about the trivial “problem” of bad Black movies not getting Oscar noms, then it’s time for Black Americans to either shut her up or admit once and for all that this is the worst alleged civil rights problem facing them.

And it’s time for them to admit that Hollywood leftists, who gave them carte blanche to make these crappy movies, are the same ones keeping their crap from winning awards.

I have a dream that one day privileged, pampered Hollywood morons will shut the bleep up, regardless of the color of their skin. We already know there ain’t no content in their character.

Oh, and we know, that next year, Hollywood–which forever panders to whining, bitching, and moaning minorities–will reverse course, and it will be a Black year at the Oscars. That’s how it works.

Exit Question: can you remember a single memorable thing–acting role or something else–that Jada Pinkett Smith has ever done . . . other than getting Will Smith to put a ring on her finger?

*** UPDATE: Reader Lisa writes:

Great post about Jada Smith. Lets see…. You know what I remember about her? Her bestie was Tupac. Another anti-Semitic, anti-White, THUG. Oh, and convicted rapist. She shouted his praises far and wide. And he was in a few movies. If he got nominated, he wouldn’t boycott any ceremony, Mrs. Smith. He would show up gold chains and all.

I believe strongly that bad Black movies should get Oscars and the resulting recognition that they bring.

We have affirmative action in all other spheres of life: emmployment, college admissions, the sanctity of human life (saying that Black Lives Matter is more important than other lives is just affixing affirmative action to the value of life — any critic who does not recognize the role of affirmative action in elevating Black Lives Matter is not able to critique this movement effectively), immunity from traffic violations, and so on.

So it seems to me that there is a logic to Ms. Smith’s saying that bad Black movies should win Oscars. After all, unqualified Blacks get placed in colleges ahead of qualified Whites, and the same holds true for most other areas of American life. Why not the movies?

Little Al on January 18, 2016 at 6:15 pm

Unfortunately it’s not only in colleges where unqualified Blacks have taken jobs from qualified Whites but it’s in every aspect of American life. A far cry from MLK asking that people be judged by their character rather than the color of their skin.

A better question is whether Dr. King would entertain the nonsense we have a right to demand special treatment.

There seems to be a lot of that around in the air these days and the moniker Black Lives Matter is racist.

It the inverse of true equality before G-d and under the law.

NormanF on January 18, 2016 at 7:01 pm

Instead of worrying about Black-on-Black violence, taking out 8-10 Blacks every weekend in Chicago, these morons complain about what’s happening in Hollyweird. Instead of railing against abortions which target the Black community disproportionately, they whine about this. This affects the average Black family how, exactly? Do you think they care that Black actors aren’t getting little golden statuettes? I doubt it.

JeffT on January 18, 2016 at 10:17 pm

Getting an Oscar is now some sort of civil right? I guess we need timetables, goals, and quotas to fulfill that dream. Also, White audiences should be required to rent or attend a certain number of Black oriented films each year. Tyler Perry could churn out “Madea” movies for an eternity in such an environment.

I didn’t watch the Academy Awards last night, but didn’t know that Ms. Pikett-Smith would do something like this of being a apparatus loon of crying about pseudo-racism of films with mainly actors and actress of of my ethnicity and racial background (Black people) not getting a certain film nomination.

The reason as Ms. Schlussel elaborated is due to the films are mediocre, meaning that it has awful producing and directing in them, which has NOTHING to do with what they physically look like, which is a non-sequitur (and Jada Pickett-Smith argued the non-sequitur logical-fallacy).

And for about most of today, I was watching films on TCM, where they dedicated this day to the late MLK Jr., and the films that they showed today on TCM had mainly Black actors and actresses in them with films between the 1920s-1940s, and the acting, producing and directing were great. Reason why they were great back then, was because the producers and directors know how to direct and produce their films, and the actors and actresses who were of color back then didn’t do the extrapolation hasty-generalization of Black people (with the exception of Stepin Fetchet).

I actually thought Spike Lee would mellow out once he went on that show WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE and traced his geneology to a white slave owner. He’ll never learn.

“And it’s time for them to admit that Hollywood leftists, who gave them carte blanche to make these crappy movies, are the same ones keeping their crap from winning awards.”

This line says it all Debbie. They should quit whining and make better movies.

I_AM_ME on January 19, 2016 at 8:02 am

Is anyone else as tired, bored, and exasperated about any of this complaining as am I?

In my readings of articles, books, etc. by Thomas Sowell, Ph.D., Walter E. Williams, Ph.D., as well as Biographies of well-respected Americans of Color / Black Americans, i.e. non-Caucasians, I specifically remember that the protagonists were NOT WHINERS – !!! – regardless of circumstances.

Perhaps it is time to implement a SOLUTION that, if memory serves, was suggested by one of the above authors and that was:

SET ASIDE 5 SOUTHERN STATES AS “HOME” FOR BLACK AMERICANS AND THEN THEY CONDUCT THEIR INTERNAL AFFAIRS SANS INTERVENTION.

So, to all WHINERS…GET YOUR SHOULDERS TO THE WHEEL, YOUR NOSES TO THE GRINDSTONE, YOUR EYES IN YOUR STUDIES, YOUR MONEY IN THE BANKS, CONTROL OF YOUR KIDS, AND QUIT YOUR “BITCHEN”!

ps: Here are the stories of genuine Black Heroes…make some movies about them…they were not Whiners.

In today’s environment though, setting aside some territory for colored people OOPS!! I mean people of color would have the same effect as it has in Africa and the Middle East. Total chaos, and a breeding ground for terrorists.

Little Al on January 19, 2016 at 9:17 am

Yes, Ms. Schlussel called it right. The “black lives matter” doesn’t even have an office. They’re just a well-funded group of racists prodded along by the black groups and caucuses in DC to keep the fires burning. I’ve ever known a black racist to refuse food from a white hand! But it it’s empty, they want to kill us. So islamic of them isn’t it.

marlene on January 19, 2016 at 9:46 am

Thanks for your piece Debbie. Race can’t and won’t be discussed in this country because of “feelings.” Candor isn’t allowed because name calling will ensue. You are a “racist” the minute you breathe. Spike needs to shut the eff up. He forgets who feeds him. White people are his biggest audience and yet he feels entitled to place them all into one racist box. No one is entitled to squat. Jada and Spike’s rants are an embarrassment. The Oscars shouldn’t be boycotted. Jada and Spike need to place their energy into causes that will benefit black people. Stirring up hatred over a gold statue is not the way to go. Where can they start? How about addressing gang gun violence in inner cities. That would be a great start.

I used to like both Jada Pinkett Smith a long time ago when she starred in “A Different World” on TV and the movies “Jason’s Lyric” and “The Nutty Professor”. Now since she’s been married to “The Fresh Prince” she’s become nothing but a racist liberal hack Obama supporting weirdo. I don’t know if like Mariah Carey she’s (in her own mind just like Mariah’s) reached a level of “divatude”. Or is it the Scientology cult er I mean religion talking. Whatever it is it is funny that she feels the need to bring this up again about the Oscars. Didn’t it occur to this racist dimwit that if Black people make good movies that they might just might win Oscars. Didn’t “12 Years a Slave” win big several years ago putting Lupita Nyongo on the map and getting her a role in “Star Wars The Force Awakens”. Also if Jada and the other little racist gnome Shelton “Spike” Lee had a problem with the “whiteness” of the Academy choices couldn’t they have spoken offline to the Academy president. Last time I checked Cheryl Boone Isaacs is Black. Surely she would’ve been a receptive audience to their crybaby claims. I’m betting that Isaacs would’ve been this being about Hollyweird and all. Not to worry though because in classic CYA mode Isaacs in the spirit of divvvvversity has said in a statement basically we will hire more minorities to sit on the panel that judges what movies get the awards. So instead of stuffy old White men over 60 being judges we’ll have young people in the mold of Al Sharpton, Geraldo Rivera and Keith Ellison overseeing the movie choices. Martin Luther King Jr. is spinning in his grave right now. So much for content of character. Expect more unwatchable dreck to be best picture, a cop hating racist loser to be best director and a self absorbed, whinning, clueless moron to be best actor/actress. Wait Ken that’s happened before you say well it’s going to get worse. It’s going to be funny to watch in the up coming news and as they say in the movies pass me the popcorn.

Ken B on January 19, 2016 at 12:37 pm

With blacks not attending the Academy Awards I might think of going next year.

Panhandle on January 19, 2016 at 12:46 pm

Sorry about that guys in the beginning when I wrote both I also meant to include Jada’s dopey husband and some of his work. Again more of me typing and eating lunch at work…LOL!

Ken B on January 19, 2016 at 12:56 pm

Ken B, hmmmmmmmm. DOUBLE hmmmmmmmm. I’ve heard you make that excuse before.

Carefully buddy, there are a lot of left wingers out there just looking for an excuse to legislate keyboard control. Maybe you shouldn’t have more than a certain number of keys available to you, kind of like the 7 round clip vs. the 10.

You know, just to make sure.

After all, NO ONE NEEDS THE ENTIRE ALPHABET TO KILL A DEEEEEER!!!

LOL!!!

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on January 19, 2016 at 3:57 pm

    Alfredo,

You just made me LOL my friend. Especially with the reference to the blithering idiot governor of New York. All I have to say is the leftwing dunderheads will have to come and take my keyboard from my cold dead hands. This just in buddy. Celebutards David Oyelowo and Lupita Nyongo are jumping on the Oscar boycott crazy train. What a bunch of ingrates.

    Ken B on January 20, 2016 at 11:58 am

This reminds me of when good credit became a civil right. And we all know how that turned out. There was a time when there was a legitimate struggle to achieve equal opportunity. That struggle has been a success, but that’s not enough for some whiners. Now they demand equal outcome. So essentially, affirmative action has returned with a vengeance.

Richard on January 19, 2016 at 4:44 pm

I watched this closely from the genesis. This was all media driven. Blacks were not concerned about any of this, they even interviewed Ice Cube, because of his box office success and he responded “We ain’t trippin, we cool”

But then the Blacks who can’t think for themselves and just had to let themselves get manipulated into believing this was an issue.

And here they go, Spike Lee, does anyone even pay attention to him anymore. He has the means and connects to make a decent Black film with a great story line but he rather focus on “The struggle” Old hat.
Earth to the Blacks who think they are entitled to be included in everything even though 12% of the pop, Will Smith doesn’t deserve a nomination just because he talked with an accent. Wth. Jada we know you have your man’s back but chill, its not that serious, it just isn’t.

Chris Rock comedic shtick is racial so he’s going to kill at the Oscars. Blacks and the Academy are going to get killed. But now some Black stars are trying to get him to Boycott the Oscars. Some Blacks are real suckers letting the media tell them they should be mad.

MrBigBrain on January 19, 2016 at 11:57 pm

Can anyone confirm or deny if MLK was a Republican?

Ronbo Jin on January 21, 2016 at 7:52 pm

I’ve got a feeling that right now,Dr. King would be spinning in his grave over all this. If he were here right now,he’d be saying “There are far more important problems in the black community than no black nominations for the Academy Awards. We have terrible inner cities, terrible schools, etc. This thing with the Academy Awards is just a ridiculous sideshow. We have far more pressing issue than this to worry about.”
