Star Wars: The Force Awakens SPOILERS – Do NOT Read If You Don’t Want to Know

If you are reading this, you’ve decided that despite my review of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and my warning about major plot spoilers, you still want to find out what happens. So, proceed at your own risk. You were forewarned, and I’ll say it again: ***** SPOILER ALERT!!! *****

* Kylo Ren is really Ben Solo, Han Solo’s and Princess (now General) Leia Organa’s son (and Darth Vader’s grandson and Luke Skywalker’s nephew). He was training to be a Jedi Knight, under the tutelage of Luke Skywalker. But he turned away from the Light and came over to the Dark Side. He’s conflicted because he still has some of the Light in him. Leia and Han split up over their son’s turn to the Dark Side. Han felt he had to go and grieve separately. But they reunite and then he goes on the mission in which Kylo/Ben kills him.

* Han Solo dies. He is killed by his own son, Kylo Ren, after Kylo Ren tricks him. Han Solo thinks he is hugging his son and that his son has come back from the Dark Side to the Light. But it is a dirty trick, and Kylo Ren stabs and kills Han Solo with his lightsaber.

* Rey is apparently Luke Skywalker’s daughter (though it’s possible she’s Leia’s daughter, but I doubt it), and she brings him his lightsaber. She has the Force with her and is an untrained Jedi who can do Jedi mind tricks. She is also apparently, Kylo Ren’s first cousin. She beats Kylo Ren in a lightsaber fight but doesn’t have the cojones to finish him off. Then, suddenly, the ground splits between the two of them, so she cannot kill him at that point (nor does it appear that she wants to–yes, again, as I noted in my review, the movie is chickified, just like America).

* Luke Skywalker is only in the movie for about 30 seconds at the end of the movie, and, no, he is neither evil nor a villain. He appears in the scene in at the very end in which Rey locates him and gives him his lightsaber. He went missing because he was disillusioned and upset over what happened with his nephew Ben Solo turning to the Dark Side and becoming villain and murderer Kylo Ren.

So does Ben Solo have an Oedipus thing, or is he just totally evil? Now there’s a twist worth reading about.

Thanks Miss Debbie. I had no desire to see it before your review. And I for sure don’t want to see it now. Not that you haven’t give it a fair look. But, can’t stand to see in movies and TV where a skinny or a “babe” beat up on men twice their size, with out a scratch. Too much of that already. Based on commercials for the movie or toy commercials, it’s plain enough to see PC at work. Promotion of this movie is way over done. Sounds like it is a made for Lifetime TV movie, or BET. Can’t say first hand because I haven’t seen it, but……. . I’ll pass.

Yeah I think the weakest part is the supreme leader, a projected image of Gollum I thought. But the movie itself is good, I think it is better than the three prequels.

One note, my son has a theory that Han sacrificed himself because he felt his son still had good in him, so he offed himself so his son would not be tempted to by the dark side, follows that he may yet turn like his adorned grandfather, Darth Vader, did. Lots of discussion in the car following the movie about possibilities.

Han Solo’s death was a surprise to me, but after it happened I thought it made sense, also it means that any of the original characters can be killed off in the future films, the original script of “Star Wars” had Han Solo getting killed, which would have made it a much darker film. No Indiana Jones escape here. For a second I thought they had killed off Chewbacca also.

I guess this movie is for people who never read any of the expanded universe. Han and Leia never had a child named Ben. Ben was the name of Luke and Mara Jade’s son. The Solo children were named Jacen, Jaina and Anakin. I guess we’re supposed to throw 25 years of canon out the window. Oh how I loathe Hollywood.

How do you know? He doesn’t speak, only appears for a few seconds. He could be evil in the next movie.

The biggest travesty was casting an actor that looked nothing like the offspring of a Carrie Fisher Harrison Ford coupling.

Ok, just saw the movie now, so feel okay to comment here.

I had no idea that Hans and Princess Leah were ever married. Or did they have Kylo out of wedlock? Similarly, didn’t Rey have a mom?

Exit question: will Rey develop a relationship w/ Finn to continue the Skywalker dynasty in sequels to this movie?
