Where I’ve Been & Why I’ve Been Gone
I regret that this is the second such post I’ve put up in recent weeks, and I hope there aren’t anymore anytime soon. I’m so sorry for my absence and I am thankful for the concerned and kind comments that so many readers have sent me over the last week or so. It’s very heartening/heart-warming, and I really appreciate that you care so much about my welfare. Thank you so much to the many of you who asked. Thank G-d, I am okay. For the past week or so, I’ve been away for a number of reasons:
* Hackers (Muslim and Polish) attacked this site with increasing ferocity and it was down for about half of the readers, depending upon which browser and technology (mobile, tablet, or desktop) you used. For a period of time, a number of readers (and I, myself) had our IP addresses blocked from the site, too. I and the tech people have worked to get it back up, stop the IP address blockage, and block the threats. And I think and hope we’ve succeeded. Pls let me know if you cannot get on this site again.
* I was in court and at meetings for a special new project and some new cases, both of which I’m excited to announce on this site very soon.
* I was very sick and extremely exhausted from no sleep and working too hard.
* I was away for a couple of days for my gorgeous and brilliant cousin Gabrielle’s Independence Day/patriotic-themed wedding in New York. This wedding was especially meaningful to me because Gabrielle is the granddaughter of three Holocaust survivors, my maternal grandparents, Isaac and Adela Engel, and her paternal grandfather who came to the U.S. from Germany through Canada (where he was briefly arrested and accused of being a Nazi war criminal). The groom is the son of Russian Jews who were Refuseniks who suffered under the Communist Soviet Union, and his father told of how this was the first wedding in the family in seven generations in which the couple were allowed to marry pursuant to Jewish law.
As I looked at all the Stars and Stripes decor and heard all the great speeches about America and how much we love our country, I mused that you’d never see or hear any of this at a Muslim wedding in America (unless it was staged for TV or some other propaganda).
My flight experience, on the execrable Spirit Airlines, is one I hope I will never repeat, as I will avoid that airline like the plague. I could write a whole post on that airline, which I believe made me incredibly sick.
* I meant to return to this site, last night, but, then, I had a freak accident, with my finger getting smashed in a closet door after I tripped on something. Thank G-d, it turned out to be a minor injury and will heal fully and quickly, G-d-willing. I’m already typing, and therefore, it must be okay. It’s my middle finger, so I really need it for “salutes” to the appropriate parties.
* Then, just as I was about to put something up this afternoon, my internet service went down. I’m told a wire was cut. So, here I am at Starbucks working to post some other new stuff.
It killed me that I could not and did not post anything for the Fourth of July. America’s Independence Day is my favorite holiday, of great importance, and one that must be marked. Unfortunately, because of the heretofore mentioned string of events, I couldn’t and didn’t. I hope it’s only this once.
G-d Bless America!
Sorry I was gone for so long. But I’m back. Thanks for your concern and your patience.
Thank you for explaining what went on. and Thank the Lord for keeping you safe. (sorry about your finger)
