Memorial Day: For Those Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice In the Name of Freedom

I say this every year, and it is an evergreen truth: Memorial Day shouldn’t be the one day on which we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. We should remember those who gave their lives in service to this country, every single day. Today, to me, is the most important American holiday, more so than even Independence Day. That’s because today we remember those who died so we could be free, those who gave their lives so we could say what we want, do what we want, be who we want to be. That’s a debt that can never truly be repaid. But we must do our best to thank those who made that sacrifice. And you have to ask whether we’ve even tried.
Whether or not you agree with President Bush’s decisions to go into Iraq and Afghanistan–and in hindsight, those were mistakes that destabilized the Middle East–you have to scratch your head and wonder about all of the men who gave their lives and limbs in those places, when you look at current Obama policy toward ISIS.
Last week, Judicial Watch released a number of documents it obtained in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the Obama Departments of Defense and State. One of those, a heavily redacted document previously classified as “Secret,” is an August 12, 2012 Defense Intelligence Agency memo circulated to key officials throughout the Obama Administration, including the CIA, FBI, Homeland Security, the State Department, Central Command, and so on. The document states that it is U.S. policy to oppose the Assad Syrian regime and, therefore, recommends the support and recognition of an ISIS state to topple the House of Assad. Incredibly, the Obama Administration, in the document, cites ISIS as a strategic asset and partner in the cause of toppling the Assads.
The West, Gulf countries, and Turkey support the [Syrian] opposition . . . . There is the possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist principlality in Eastern Syria (Hasaka and Der Zor), and this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime.
Did the thousands of American men who died in Iraq give their lives for nothing? Did they make the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, so that Barack Obama could turn around and give up all of their gains and give ISIS an official country that, incredibly, America would support and finance? Did our soldiers die in Iraq so that we could turn around and give it back to Saddam Hussein’s more brutal Sunni allies in ISIS so they could rape and behead Christians en masse? Apparently, that’s the Obama Administration’s thinking.

This news makes my sadness on this day even more overwhelming. Sad that these men died thinking they were doing something important, and now all of their gains have been given up by Obama. Sad, more so, because it is now a choice of supporting Iranian Shi’ite militias (and that was always the choice–Iraq’s Shi’ite government takes its orders from their fellow Shi’ite Ayatollahs in Iran) or ISIS Sunni terrorists. What is the difference between the two? Not much.
I’m saddened, too, that while our troops died “over there” in various places so that we would have the continued right to speak and live as we choose, that it’s not really the case anymore. It’s ironic that just days before Memorial Day, University of Michigan Football Coach Jim Harbaugh spent 90 minutes at a Dhimmi Apology-Fest with Muslim extremists. He spent an hour and a half apologizing to Muslims for sending out a tweet in support of the Unversity showing “American Sniper.” But you can’t tweet in support of a movie anymore. Instead of celebrating freedom and those who died to make sure we still have it, Jim Harbaugh was making sure we knew that we actually don’t have it much anymore and that mea culpas and self-flagellation are in order whenever Muslims who hate America from within are offended or get so much as a paper cut. The perpetually offended to whom Harbaugh apologized were the same ones who shouted “Annihilate the Jews!” not long ago. Did our troops give their lives so Jim Harbaugh would apologize to Muslims offended by a movie about a Navy SEAL who risked his life for our freedom? Apparently.

I’m also saddened because current day developments now present the same challenge to the sacrifice the American men who fought in some of the other wars have made. Front and center is World War II. Many brave American soldiers gave their lives fighting in battles from Normandy to Anzio to Iwo Jima. They did it to liberate Nazi Europe and stop the Nazis’ allies, the Japanese and others. But, now, the Europe they liberated is infested with the contemporary Nazis of Islam. While 1945 brought the end of World War II 2045 will probably bring the end of Europe, as it will no longer be a part of the West. It will be an extension of Greater Arabia. Or Eurostan. Take your pick. Did our soldiers give their lives for nothing, liberating several generations during World War II, only to see Europe voluntarily enslave itself and put on the shackles of sharia, Jew-hatred, and Christian-hatred?
Time has forgotten the sacrifices they made to liberate the enslaved, to save those who would be wiped out in a Final Solution. Now, Europe voluntarily puts on the bindings and gags of those who would institute their own Final Solution against not just Jews, but Christians, too. And America does nothing to stop this from happening. In fact, America has–since 9/11–sped up the process of doing this same thing, via Muslim immigration, to itself, something I’ve repeatedly decried on this site even before 9/11 and certainly ever since.
The men who gave their lives on America’s various chosen battlefields were average men from average, usually humble, backgrounds. There was nothing that appeared spectacular about them on the surface. They were simply Americans. But when the circumstances presented themselves, these average men were not so average. They stepped up, served, and sacrificed, often to save the lives of their fellow troops, and always to fight the good fight and do what they thought was right in the service of our country.
Many of them fought “over there,” they and we were told, so that we wouldn’t have to fight the same problems “over here” on American soil. But, as I’ve pointed out repeatedly, we’ve opened our country and its doors wide open to those who hate us to take over and colonize this country without a single shot being fired. Whether it’s Shi’ite Muslims who’ve taken over Dearbornistan and Dearbornistan Heights, Michigan and beyond, or Somali Sunni Muslims who’ve taken over Minneapolistan and cities in Maine and Washington State and Tennessee and Iowa, we’ve bowed to their backward religious behavioral mores and demands without a fight.
Is this what our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan fought for? Or is it what we had hoped they fought to avoid coming here?
So, today, think about those who gave their lives so we could be free. And think about what you are doing, here safe on American soil (for now), to keep us free, now that the enemy they fought is inside the gates and laughing all the way to the bank (with entitlement checks) . . . and all the way to the mosque.
G-d bless all of those brave men’s souls. Now, we the living must finally take action to make sure their ultimate sacrifice wasn’t made in vain. And not just on Memorial Day.

Many generations have sacrificed their limbs and lives to keep our nation free. Even so, we have in recent decades let slip our freedoms and dignity for the sake of those who loath America, both internally and externally. Barack Obama and his Aministration are just a symptom of deep internal rot, and not its cause.
