Pizza isn’t kosher, even without meat? Just wondering.

Debbie, when I want to order pizza with non-Jews they think I should be willing to get a pizza with “half meat”. I insist that the meat on their half would ruin my half. You have to draw the line somewhere.

I am an atheist Jew who grew up in an Orthodox Canadian family. In Canada they have a much higher orthodox percentage. You can not mix meat and dairy and the rear half of a cow would not be considered kosher.
I guess if you have soy substitute for cheeses you can make a kosher pizza but it has to go through a careful rabbinical inspection to pass.

Debbie – I laugh when I think my first car was a 1967 Camaro – 327 275 hp V8, a front “bench” seat that GM made – only 6,000 examples – in 1972 I tried for 6 months to sell it before getting $1,000 for it.

Would like to know the story of the $250,000 Z28 – that seems pretty high. Although the craziest Camaro sale was a 1969 – factory made with a 427 big block – a “special order” option – skinny bias ply tires – went for $700,000 – before our current economic problems, of course.

Mine?

1970 1/2 LS-396 Big Block SS Camaro. Bright Screaming Yellow Zonker yellow, black interior with houndstooth check cloth seat facings. Open grille, blacked out rear panel. 400 hp.

Lowered it a half inch, cranked on heavier sway bars front and rear, installed the new era of gas shocks and these new inventions called radials from Pirelli. Then a a new Carter carb and redesigned easier breathing headers. Sweet babbling buddha that was an extremely fast and rock solid handling car. I LOVED IT. It was also a cop-magnet.

But, at age 18 I learned an important lesson. I could afford the car, and college (or) I could afford the insurance gasoline, oil, maintenance and sundry expenses and college. I could not afford the car and college at the same time.

Ran an ad for it and my father bought it. SOB even dickered on the price leaving me $1,000 short of breaking even providing another important lesson.

But what a hoot to see him later at 80 years old stooped, slumped shouldered with his fedora and glasses barely seen over the door sill in the driver’s window two hands on the wheel rapping the throttle and making great lion-roar bass notes at a stop light next to some kid in a Datsun.

Life is sweet.

(after begging him to sell it back to me when he tired of it he somehow forgot and let it go for $500 to a factory foreman at his church in 1990)

I bought a 1972 Camaro in December 1972 with the money I saved during basic training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT). It had everything I wanted on it and I ordered it that way. Mine was light blue. Had a 350 ci with a 4 barrel carb. It would get up and go!!! Gas was 27 cents per gallon and they pumped it. I drove it until I was shipped overseas. Gave it to my little brother. Who blew the engine 🙁
My cost was $3000.00 total. The Z package was about $1000.00 more.

Brings back memories especially since Schnatter’s home town of Jeffersonville is also my home town.

Maybe he will sell his replica Camaro or give it away!!!
