No Tears for Abdul Rahman Kassig; Muslim Convert Learned True Islam: You Lose Your Head

By Debbie Schlussel

No tears from me for Abdul Rahman Kassig, ISIS’ latest “American” beheadee. He learned what happens when you convert to Islam: you lose your head.

Even @ Death’s Door, Peter Kassig Didn’t Get It: THIS. IS. ISLAM. . . .

peterkassigisis

As you probably know from news reports, Kassig, formerly known as Peter Kassig, was once an American from Indiana who served as a U.S. Army Ranger for maybe a year before getting a medical discharge. But he left America, converted to Islam, and moved to the Muslim Middle East to devote his life to helping Syrian Shi’ite “victims” of a civil war. He became an anti-war activist who was embarrassed by his service in the U.S. military. And he was embarrassed to be American, even more embarrassed that he was briefly an Army Ranger. And he was there servicing Muslims who hate us in order to “make up for” having been an American serviceman. Who else leaves America to move to–of all places–the G-d-forsaken “paradise” of Beirut? Although that was where he lived, he ferried supplies from Turkey to Syria, where he was tending to the Syrian Shi’ites, who all support Hezbollah–you know, the terrorist group that murdered over 300 U.S. Marines and Embassy officials in Beirut. It’s all about Muslims, all about “repenting” for his “embarrassing (very brief) past” as an Army Ranger.

Mr. Kassig, an Indiana native, was kidnapped in October 2013 as he delivered aid to Syria’s eastern province of Deir Ezzour. During the past year of captivity, Mr. Kassig converted to Islam and adopted the name Abdul Rahman, Arabic for “servant of the merciful.” He prayed and fasted during the holy month of Ramadan, according to fellow Western captives who were freed by Islamic State after their governments paid ransoms to the group, according to reports from friends.

“We are heartbroken to learn that our son, Abdul-Rahman Peter Kassig, has lost his life as a result of his love for the Syrian people and his desire to ease their suffering. Our heart also goes out to the families of the Syrians who lost their lives, along with our son,” Mr. Kassig’s parents said.

Mr. Kassig joined the Army, serving a little over a year, according to the Pentagon. He was deployed to Iraq for about four months in 2007. He left the Army with the rank of private first class in September 2007 with a medical discharge, records show. Mr. Kassig mentioned his prior military service to friends, including his wartime deployment, but “it was quite clear that was a part of his life that he wasn’t looking to dwell on,” Mr. Downey said. Instead, according to Mr. Downey, Mr. Kassig believed “war didn’t help anything. It just destroyed lives, families and countries.” Mr. Kassig “wanted to help, one person at a time,” Mr. Downey said.

Founding his nongovernmental aid organization, Special Emergency Relief and Assistance, in September 2012 was Mr. Kassig’s way of using his emergency medical training to help those in need, including shipments of medical supplies into Syria, according to Mr. Downey.

In their statement on Sunday, Mr. Kassig’s parents released the text of a letter he wrote from Syria before being captured. “Here, in this land, I have found my calling.…I do not know much. Every day that I am here I have more questions and less answers, but what I do know is that I have a chance to do something here, to take a stand. To make a difference.’ Mr. Kassig’s dedication to helping Syrians in need was more powerful than his fear of traveling to the war-torn country as kidnappings of foreigners mounted, friends and family said. His deployment in Iraq had affected him tremendously and influenced him to embrace pacifism, they said.

Friends said they had tried to talk him out of making his last trip to Syria from his base in southern Turkey in October 2013. The political landscape in Syria had changed by then, and Islamic State was routing the rebels and civilians who had protected Mr. Kassig during previous trips. “If I do die, I figure that at least you and I can seek refuge and comfort in knowing that I went out as a result of trying to alleviate suffering and helping those in need,” Mr. Kassig wrote to his family from captivity in June.

Nobody told this guy to go to Syria. He purposely went to a Muslim war zone and took the risks. He could have remained in America and dedicated his life to helping Americans–you know, the citizens of the land that gave him freedom and opportunity. But he forsook all of that in order to help Muslims full of hate in the middle of a civil war. He took the risks and “suffered” the consequences.

Nobody told this idiot to convert to Islam. But he made that stupid decision and look what followed. He chose to convert to this cult of death and destruction. And, then, he saw what happens in Islam. You get sucked into the death and destruction that is Islam. You get kidnapped and brutally murdered by your fellow Muslims (Kassig was a Sunni Muslim just like his ISIS murderers). First, he figuratively lost his head by choosing this dark religion. Then, he literally lost it.

But, even knowing that his choice to convert to Islam and go to the Middle East cost him his life, Kassig still wouldn’t face up to the fact that these choices would be the ones that resulted in his death. From a letter he sent his parents while in ISIS captivity:

If I do die, I figure that at least you and I can seek refuge and comfort in knowing that I went out as a result of trying to alleviate suffering and helping those in need.

In terms of my faith, I pray everyday and I am not angry about my situation in that sense. I am in a dogmatically complicated situation here, but I am at peace with my belief.

More like in two pieces with his belief. “Religion of Peace” and pieces. That’s what it’s all about.

Ironically, his Muslim name means “The Merciful.”

Which is not a trait for which Islam is renowned.

I’m not shedding tears for him – and it should be noted even being a Muslim is not enough to save your life.

He was ashamed of being an American. I don’t see any reason why he should be held in high regard.

Someone who goes to the Muslim World can expect to wind up in trouble – or dead. Its not like these fools learn that its not a safe place for them to be.

In any event Abdul Rahman – Peter Kassig is having a nice trip straight to hell. I hope he packed light.

NF: His name means, “Slave of the Merciful.” “The Merciful” is one of the 99 names of allah. Or as Jay-Z might say, “99 Problems & a Kalbeh Ain’t One.” So his name basically means, “Alave of allah.” DS

I’m sorry but I’m with Debbie on this one 100%. This guy was the the Army version of a Navy Seal. So he gets discharged from the Army and he’s so disgusted with my beloved country he leaves for the armpit of the world and converts to Islam. The same nuts that have just killed him and want nothing more than to kill Americans and other “infidels”. I guess I would use Dr Fraud, er I mean Phil’s famous saying “Howz dat workin’ for ya”! but I guess we now know. I sure do hope that he enjoys his ugly as sin virgins. LOL.

Ken B on November 17, 2014 at 12:02 pm

Thanks Debbie….as usual you’re the FIRST place I’ve seen this covered. Gee, he was ashamed of his military service…..I wonder why Obama didn’t trade several top jihadis at Gitmo for him? Maybe he already traded them all and there’s none left. Well it seems like he made the right choice converting to the Religion of (Two) Pieces! Putz.

So if this guy was honorably dishcharged, will his parents insist on burial in a national cemetery? Perhaps Arlington?

Sean M on November 17, 2014 at 12:17 pm

Since the result of going over there and converting should be all but inevitable, perhaps we should now call this “Suicide by Islam”.

I_AM_ME on November 17, 2014 at 12:38 pm

I’m a bit confused, so maybe Debbie can help me. I’ve read several accounts of this guy’s story. In some, he left the Army, converted to Islam here in the U.S. and then went back to the hellhole to help his fellow Muslims. In other accounts, he did not convert until AFTER he was kidnapped. While either way it was monumentally stupid for any American to willingly go over there to stay, if he was already a Muslim, why did they kidnap him? He was already on their side!

Also, any info on what his medical condition might have been that got him an early discharge? You have to be pretty tough to be a Ranger. Was it a mental thing? They don’t give you an early discharge for a broken leg.

Also, I’m curious which countries are buying their citizens back from the kidnappers. Don’t they know it only encourages them? If you play along and pay them, you’ll end up with more of your countrymen being kidnapped.

MIGirl on November 17, 2014 at 1:13 pm

I’ve forgotten so much of this nonsense but reading Debbie’s arti cles, always brings it back. I remember as a teen, my friends showed me the “99 attributes” of Allah. That’s how you pick your Muslim name.

Also there was some big deal about how every Chapter of the Koran the amount of versus (Suras and Iots) I think, they could be divided by 19 or some crap, I never knew why that was important, but it was important to them.

Bunch of foolishness

MrBigBrain on November 17, 2014 at 1:50 pm

One thing I’m not getting – if he was so interested in helping Syrian Shiites, why did he convert to Sunni Islam, rather than Shiite? It’s not like either sect has any warm regards for the other.

My reaction to all these beheadings is – nothing to see here, move along. The thing that bothers me is that these beheadings are used to rile up American public opinion into intervening against ISIS, where we really have no business. ISIS is just one more example of Muzzies being Muzzies. If we have to intervene against ISIS, why not against every Muslim country in order to totally de-Islamize them? If this is about human rights, that would be the most humane thing to do. Albeit way too expensive a project for even the entire West.

Oh, and while we are at it, I wish we’d stop obstructing Muzzies who want to take a one way trip to Syria or Iraq to join ISIS. Let them go there and either get beheaded by their employer, or killed fighting their local enemies – Hizbullah, al Sadr, the Baathist regime or whoever.

I: Ding! Ding! Ding! Amen. Could not agree with you more. Only problem I have is letting ’em back in. And most of ’em don’t come back, so gooooooood riddance! DS

Infidel on November 17, 2014 at 1:58 pm

Yup. A traitor and a scumbag. As are his parents. The only good thing is that we could kill 1000 of them since he was an American, but we won’t do that because our government is composed of useless idiots.

Curtis LeMay would have known what to do.

    Occam's Tool on November 20, 2014 at 12:14 am

The thing is we’re bombing Islamic State on behalf of Iran and Hezbollah.

That’s why they’re so riled up. We’re picking a side in an internecine Muslim feud that’s gone on for centuries.

And the Shiites aren’t exactly exactly grateful for our saving them from their Sunni antagonists.

NormanF on November 17, 2014 at 2:48 pm

A man is beheaded and your reaction is to talk about how unsympathetic you are. May God soften your hearts and bring you the wisdom to mourn and respect the dead and to hold your tongue next time.

Emmet on November 17, 2014 at 3:16 pm

Emmet, I’m sure you would have been much more satisfied if the news had been that Peter “Abdul” Kassig–instead of getting beheaded–went on to commit various acts of terrorism in the name of his “religion” islam. But around here, few of us cheer on those who convert to islam and then kill people. And there’s an old classic tale written by Edgar Allan Poe called “Never Bet the Devil Your Head.” Read it. When you bargain with islam, you are bargaining with as close to agents of the Devil as there are on this planet. So nobody here is surprised by the result. And there’s certainly no cause for any sympathy whatsoever. Kassig could have helped people in America in need of help, but that was the last thing on his feeble mind, as is absolutely clear by the life choices he made which resulted in his inevitable demise.

Ralph Adamo on November 17, 2014 at 3:33 pm

Oh, and by the way, why do you go by the name of Emmet, which is based on the Hebrew word emet for truth? Your comment indicates that the truth is the last thing on your mind.

Ralph Adamo on November 17, 2014 at 3:38 pm

In a metaphorical sense, Peter “Abdul” Kassig lost his head long before his head became physically separated from his neck. Anyone who converts to islam and then goes to an islamic nation to help islamic people has, in effect, completely lost his/her head. And all brain circuits that could possibly support the capacity to reason have been short circuited and permanently cauterized. I’m sure he won’t be the last of these two-phased beheadings.

Ralph Adamo on November 17, 2014 at 3:25 pm

When I first heard and read this story over the weekend, similar argumentum’s crossed my metaphysical mindset of: “did Kassig embraced Islam before he was killed by the same Islamist of his fellow co-religionists?”, turns out I was correct after both reading what DS attributed and other party sources (that’s reliable and not a loony-wingnut publication) that she presented to the table in the article.

If any of you follow or study philosophical-science or methodology-science, you would know that this man, Kassig, was a “cultural-relativist”, by feeling too much sympathy of folks of a different culture and society, where there cultures and laws are a joke, barbaric, illogical and fascistic. This is why these days I have NO respect of pity for those who use relativity in their views, because they’re too caught up in their dogmatic, guideline doxies with their inability to use crucial-thinking beyond the realm(s)!

Sean R. on November 17, 2014 at 3:30 pm

The biggest Slave nation, with the highest proportion of its population enslaved, remains the west African nation Mauritania, where slavery of black Moors by “Berber Arabs” is an entrenched part of society.

Yet American Blacks befriend and look to these Quacks as friends and allies and gobble up their quack religion. Misguided my brethren are, Misguided.

MrBigBrain on November 17, 2014 at 4:01 pm

I hope this goes thru. It may not because I keep being (inadvertently) blocked. I wanna be back!!

What is the count of these very special ISIS beheadings who are also retard Islam reverters? I hope it’s 4 for 4.

Now to read the next article on his kalbeh Uma in the headscarf. I saw that and said, another reverter who got their just desserts. Double plus good!

I love DS’ columns like this because no one else tells the truth of Islam as she does. We gotta have some type of victories in this wack world! Also, thanks to ISIS for giving us a very funny movie rating option. I still LOLOL when I see it for crap movies. Never gets old!

A valuable test case infidels are too dumb to learn from. That’s why Muslims had to lie I guess.

I do not feel pity for this man. He decided to assist those who hate us, and then paid the price for it.

Worry on November 17, 2014 at 7:56 pm

[Praying that my comment will not get blocked.]

First off: I would shed one tear for Mr Kassig as a human being, mainly because any human death, regardless of circumstance, is sad.

With that said: there are at least 3 reasons why Mr Kassig literally lost his head –

1. He was caught helping the “enemy” (read: Shi’ites – Sunni ISIS’s mortal foes);

2. Being a Sunni helping Shi’ites makes him the Sunni equivalent of a “race traitor”. Not a good thing;

3. He was too damn white for his own good (remember: Islam favours the Arabs – and benefits only those who lead them).

In past posts, I mentioned the political, tribal and racial aspects of organized religion and Islam was the worst offender. I don’t need to re-iterate examples since everyone who has been a regular in these forums either a) agrees with me somewhat, with reservations; or b) disagrees with my views with a vengeance.

I don’t care. All I know is that there is no Allah, no Mohammed, no Jesus, no God, no Satan. Man creates. Man destroys. A man killed Mr Kassig. That’s all I need to know.

The Reverend Jacques on November 18, 2014 at 12:45 am

Debbie, I forgot to comment about not letting them back in, and totally agree w/ you here – they should be allowed only ONE WAY tickets to dar ul Islam.

Infidel on November 18, 2014 at 1:09 pm

You cannot fix stupid!
Along the same line, though not so deadly:
A dutch ‘reporter’
(when one is so dumb, reporter shouldn’t be your profession)
“She was raped, but she was not angry. The journalist who went looking for the Taliban in Afghanistan saw her curiosity end in a cruel ordeal of multiple rape. While this would make others angry or sad, this journalist shows understanding. She says:‘They also respected me.’ And she was given tea and biscuits.”

…“This story is a perfect illustration of the moral decline of our elites. They are so blinded by their own ideology that they turn a blind eye to the truth. Rape? Well, I would put this into perspective, says the leftist journalist: the Taliban are not monsters. Our elites prefer to deny reality rather than face it. One would expect: a woman is being raped and finds this unbearable. But this journalist is not angry because the Muslim involved also showed respect. Our elites, whether they are politicians, journalists, judges, subsidy gobblers or civil servants, are totally clueless. Plain common sense has been dumped in order to deny reality. It is not just this raped journalist who is suffering from Stockholm syndrome, but the entire Dutch elite. The only moral reference they have is: do not irritate the Muslims – that is the one thing they will condemn.”

Herman on November 18, 2014 at 2:36 pm

i don’t understand why so many aid workers are attracted to the syrian people, or is it that aid workers are motivated by peer pressure or “brotherhood” such as you’ll see in military where keep re-deploying to the dangerous warzones because they feel a loyalty with their fellow squad members? Could it be they are in fact, other agendas rather than purely helping these people, such as contracted for intel purposes or lots of money in smuggling operations, for example? why syria if the person is just a do-gooder? I felt the most confused about kassig and alan henning, who left behind a wife and children to help the syrian people,, someone please tell me what is the attraction to this suicidal need to be helping syrian people vx. choosing to aid elsewhere?

Debbie left out one other blot on Kassig’s miserable resume:

“He moved to Beirut in March 2012, and began working in the Burj al-Barajen, a Palestinian refugee camp.”

I just happened upon this website and after reading your column and the comments – I find it difficult to respond. Not that it will make any difference, but just know that a member of Peter’s family has read your misinformed and misguided comments.

Roberta Kassig on April 23, 2015 at 9:41 pm

I will say this there is a difference between moderate and radical Islamist’s. No one should make lite of what happened to Peter Kassig it was both sad and disturbing as all of the beheadings were. I will explain further by saying no one can imagine the shear pain the families are going through that have to deal with the way their loved one died. Years ago when I was more active online speaking out against radical Islamist’s I looked at the beheading video of Nick Berg which was beyond horrific I won’t go into detail except to say it was sickening and knew at that point the level of hatred the radicals had for all of us whether we be Christian,Jewish or moderate Muslim. In regards to ISIS well their outright monsters just like Al Qeada was but one thing is for sure one day their reign of evil will come to an end .
