Derailed

By
The movie, “Derailed,” debuting in theaters today, is getting a lot of hype.
It’s Jennifer Aniston’s attempt to show us she can play a bad girl, a scumbag-ette. The plot is this: two married executives who had an affair, and are now being blackmailed by a thug. It looked exciting. But this movie didn’t live up to my expectations. In fact, it’s a dud.
You keep seeing her “Friends” character, Rachel, every time she’s on screen (which is not so much; she’s a co-star at best). Plus, she spends most of this film moaning and crying.
I’ve seen plenty of thrillers less predictable. And so have you. Don’t waste your time being “Derailed.” See or do something else. Rent something by Hitchcock. He knew how to do thrillers, not the writers and director of this flick.

Aniston Exposed

I ask if it’s possible for Jennifer Aniston to be more overexposed? The former TV sitcom star, aspiring movie actor, jilted lover, newly in-touch with her estranged mother, is simply (and annoyingly) everywhere

The more Aniston tries to distance herself from the air-head persona she truly is, the more empty she seems
This is a woman who got famous for her “hair” in a sitcom, for crying out loud. Now she thinks the world’s waiting for her opinions on politics.
Long gone are the soft rounded features that made her reasonably attractive to a generation of wet-dreamers. Though she’s always struck me as being remarkably sexless. The female equivalent of Schwimmer.
These days her money maker has a harsh angular look that could have been upgraded by The Carver on Nip/Tuck. Not to be judgemental here.

Never watched “Friends” or any movie Aniston was in. Wouldn’t walk across the street to see her. The “Friends” cast, like the “Seinfeld” cast, will fade into Hollowood oblivion. Not a nice way for an actor to go, but appropriate for the situation.
