Robin Williams Wished Israel a Happy 60th Birthday (VIDEO)

By Debbie Schlussel

You may have seen the late Robin Williams’ name on lists of pro-Israel celebrities that have been published in the last several years and especially during the current Israeli defensive war against HAMAS. He’s on those lists because, in 2008, Williams appeared in a video with other celebs (including Tom Cruise, the great Jon Voight, Elle and Dakota Fanning, etc.) to wish Israel a Happy 60th Birthday. The video, below, was played on billboards in Times Square on Israel’s 60th Birthday in May 2008.

Watch the Video(turn down the volume to skip the silly background music, which was not part of the original video–Williams is on the video at about 48 seconds in):

Williams’ appearance in this video was (and remains) significant because Williams–who was not Jewish (or even half-Jewish, as the urban legends often claimed)–stuck his neck out to express support for Israel when it was no longer fashionable to do so, most markedly for Jewish celebrities, including Barbra Streisand, who used to be openly pro-Israel but were and are no longer. That took courage. And, clearly, he had it then, if not yesterday.

Rest in peace Dear one. A truly amazing talent that lifted many hearts. So tragic his own could not be lifted as well.

A big supporter of St. Jude in TN. He would donate his time and money. He fought his demons, unfortunately the demons won.

Sorry, but I was not a fan of him. Glad he supported Israel, but he was a left wing, anti Christian jerk.

I just didn’t think he was that funny or entertaining.

Totally agree. And the way that he ripped every GOP President in the last 35 years – Reagan,Bush Sr. and Jr.,not to mention just about anyone who was in the GOP,and White Southerners, was truly rotten. His stand up “comedy”,whether on stage or the talk shows, was that of a typical White Leftist coward.

And his stand up style wasn’t even original, just Jonathan Winters on amphetamines, cocaine,LSD, and more, with an extreme Leftist slant.

CM: I agree that he was not funny, but I did think he was a good actor. I noted in my previous column on him that he was a big lefty and donor to Dems and Pelosi. As for him being anti-Christian, I would have to agree with you and condemn that, too. DS

I wrote a blurb on Robin Williams in my blog (click on my alias and you’ll be there). My life, is some cases, mirrored his own. I chose to live until nature takes me.

Cracked.com also wrote something on Robin Williams that I couldn’t top. http://www.cracked.com/quick-fixes/robin-williams-why-funny-people-kill-themselves

I, for one, will miss his mania, even though he’s a little to lefty for me (not all progressive-collectivist-minded celebs are alike, you know). RIP Robin.

(For all the elders, he has appeared in a reboot of the old Rowan and Martin Laugh-In series in the 70s. Back then, there were signs of things to come. Just saying.)

Was he still supporting Israel lately? Maybe that helped push him over the edge, knowing he’d have to hide his true feelings and abide by the glitterati’s antizionist unified front.

When news emerged and evolved last night of Robin Williams had passed away, I couldn’t believe it (and he’s a year older than my mother and a few years older than my father), and read sources to clarify it, which was evidential.

I happened to like his acting and comedic acts as well, irrespectively, I applaud him for at least using some common sense when it came to geo-politics of supporting one of the freest countries in the Middle East (Israel)!

He’s catching hell from Muslims…

My goodness. I think Robin Williams must have cured AIDS, cancer, walked on water, and a whole host of other miracles since everyone and their mother has made posts who he was supposedly this huge legend and genius. (Not including you, Debbie. Talking about EVERY SINGLE PERSON on Facebook and social media)

Good grief, he was just an actor/comedian. Hasn’t been relevant in years, even having his TV show cancelled.

I just don’t understand our current day culture I guess. I like movies/music/sports as much as anyone but I just don’t understand this obsession with celebs. No wonder social media is so popular, we are just obsessed with the trivial.

I’m wondering why Fox News has not covered Lauren Bacall’s death AT ALL.

skzion on August 14, 2014 at 1:26 am

He was a supporter of Israeli terrorists, and I wish I could see his punishment in the grave, which has already begun. Thank God the world has 1 less scumbag to worry about.

Let’s see what people write about you after you die — if, indeed, you are remembered at all. I prefer to respect the departed, yes, even those with the “wrong” political views.
