Top ABC Execs Contacted Schlussel for “The View” Co-Host Position; NY Daily News Blurb
*** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE ***
You may have seen this blurb, below, in the New York Daily News a couple of weeks ago about ABC, “The View,” and me. (I didn’t see it until a few days ago, so I’m late to my own story.)
NAMING NAMES ON ‘THE VIEW’
Conservative columnist and talk-radio host Debbie Schlussel says she’s in the running to join Whoopi Goldberg on “The View.” “I would challenge a lot of the people on the show,” she tells The News’ Reuven Blau. “Whoopi always tells people that the Redskins name offends a lot of people. I would tell her that as a Jewish-American, (her) using the last name ‘Goldberg’ mocks Jews. I would ask her if she’s going to change her stage name.” Schlussel says a producer contacted her about the job on July 2. “It was really out of the blue,” she adds.
Yes, it is all true (and the fact that Whoopi Goldberg insists the Washington Redskins team must change its name “because it offends people,” yet she won’t change her offensive stage name–I’ve written about this on this site several times). Late on July 2nd, top ABC executives contacted me for consideration for “The View,” the morning yenta-hag-fest of which I’ve been critical many times over the years. As you may have heard, the show is in the ratings dumps, and the network is looking to revive it with new “conservative” and Latina co-hosts to debate issues with Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O’Donnell. I am not going to give the names of those who contacted me and with whom I spoke because I don’t need to 1) help the competition and the professionally jealous; 2) help my enemies and naysayers; and 3) make these people hate me because of unwanted contact from others. Here is the e-mail they sent me:

Subject: Re: Meeting with ABC
To: “writedebbie@gmail.com” writedebbie@gmail.comHi Debbie,
Here at ABC [REDACTED], we’re constantly looking for talent for our various programs on air and in development. I’m reaching out to you to see if you would be available for a Skype video call / general meeting with our VP of [REDACTED NAME] and myself, to discuss potential opportunities. As you probably know, we’re presently working on finding new co-hosts for The View. Knowing time is of the essence, we will be in the office on Friday July 4th.
Would you be available to talk on Friday at 3:00pm PT? Please advise.Best,
[REDACTED]
I did make myself available on July 4th, but I had never done Skype before. And my computer camera didn’t work. I went out and bought a camera, but ended up wasting my whole Independence Day trying to get it to work and researching online why it wasn’t working. Apparently, the camera was broken, and when I reached that conclusion, it was too late to do anything about it. So, I did my meeting with the ABC Vice President over the phone. They contacted me, not the other way around. And the ABC VP told me they’d received thousands of tapes and inquiries from agents and wannabes. The ABC Veep said they’d looked at my reel tapes that are on YouTube (here, here, and here) and understood my “POV” (their term, not mine). It went well, and we’ll see. I hold no illusions on this, and while I might still be in the running, I don’t think I will get it because I wasn’t invited for an audition and the show is ending for the rest of the summer in a few days. And because, from what I can tell, while they claim to be looking for a “conservative,” what they really mean is a liberal who pretends to be a conservative (like Elisabeth Hasselbeck) and a moron (again, Hasseldumb). This way, Rosie O’Donnell, who gets final say in whom they hire, and Whoopi Goldberg, can easily defeat the person in any argument. There is a reason ABC just hired Rachel Maddow’s producer, Bill Wolff, from MSNBC to executive produce the show. It’ll be liberal, overwhelmingly so. and they don’t really want a strong conservative. I got that from my dealings with the ABC execs.
The people they’ve auditioned so far are S.E. Cupp, who doesn’t want you to know that her real name is actually just plain Sarah, rather than pretentious, “mysterious” initials. She will probably get the gig and can bring all two of her viewers from CNN’s “Crossfire.” She is NOT conservative on most issues. On her first day of auditioning, she stressed that people need to realize that “HAMAS are terrorists, but the Palestinians are people.” Um, who does she think elected HAMAS overwhelmingly in free elections and kept them in power in Gaza–the North Dakota Wiccans? Helloooooooo . . . . She proudly supports gay marriage and transsexualism, and made a big deal of how she was not going to attend CPAC (the Conservative Political Action Conference) because, she claimed, they are so anti-gay (which is funny because, why, then, is Grover Norquist always there?). She brags that she’s an atheist, while fraudulently trying to hedge her bets with conservative Christians by saying, “I hope one day to be a person of faith.” Um, if you don’t believe G-d exists, don’t pretend that you hope to one day practice something you think is a joke . . . just to trick the Christians who comprise most of conservatism. Whatta fake.
Then, there is Emily Miller, who knew her felon fiance, Michael Scanlon, was bilking Indian Tribes of $45 million with his buddy Jack Abramoff. She moved with him to the mansion he bought on Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and enjoyed the accoutrements that criminal largesse affords. Miller only decided to narc on him to the feds when Scanlon canceled the engagement and dumped her for a 24-year-old waitress. Hell hath no fury . . . . She now claims she didn’t know that the money was obtained criminally, which is funny, since her fiance’s primary job experience was as a lifeguard, and even funnier, since her blabbing to the feds is what the feds say brought Scanlon and Abramoff down, so she clearly knew everything about everything, was an accessory to the crime, and her lawyers got her a deal. Crime pays.
She became Secretary of State Colin Powell’s deputy press secretary, orchestrating several of his many anti-Israel speeches and appearances in the Middle East, including a pandering trip to see Yasser Arafat during the siege on Ramallah, at the height of homicide bombings of Jews and others in Israel. And so it was interesting seeing her say on “The View” that she was working minimum wage retail two years ago, but not saying why (“I was involved in a major scandal bilking Indians of beaucoup bucks“). After the scandal, she became an online gossip columnist, and the editor of the gossip site told the Washington Post that Miller was a natural because she’d already been a major source for gossip tips to columnists all over town while she was a press secretary to Powell and Tom DeLay. Classy.
**** UPDATE:
Miller later pulled a Gwyneth Paltrow, going on convicted felon and former Congressman Bob Ney’s radio show and telling him that they were both “war buddies.” Ney was convicted in the Abramoff scandal, helping rip off the Indian Tribes–and both he and Miller inserted all kinds of gushing stuff about Abramoff and Scanlon into the Congressional Record to fool the Indians while they were being bilked (but she knew “NOTHING!” about the crime, right?). Um, I think our troops who are real war buddies would be a little incensed that their sacrifices on the battlefield are being compared to her and a Congressman’s life of crime and scandal. END UPDATE ****
In her appearances on “The View,” Miller talked about how desperate she is to find someone to date, how she loves watching reality TV, especially “The Bachelorette,” and would love to be a contestant on the “Married at First Sight” show. And this is conservative, how . . . ? This week, when Whoopi Goldberg claimed that “you can only get Ebola through sex and bodily fluid exchange,” Miller cocked her head and twice asked Goldberg “Whoopi, how do YOU have sex with someone with Ebola? I mean, HOW. DO. YOU. Have sex with someone with Ebola?” HUH? This chick is a moron (or drunk, which she seemed to be), but not so moronic that she didn’t partake in gifts and the good life that $45 mill in stolen Indian money will give ya. Yeah, that’s “conservative!”
And then there was Kayleigh McEnany, who was okay (and very rehearsed on talking points), except for starting off the show by saying that we should absolutely welcome these “great Americans” with Ebola onto our shores because “they are the best of America.” They are? No, just the most stupid and risky of America. She went on to compare the Americans who, of their own volition, went to Africa and hung out with Ebola patients, to American men and women in the military. Um, selfishly doing what you want and putting other Americans at risk after you put yourself at risk to catch a communicable, fatal disease isn’t even close to the same as serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and taking orders. And we don’t bring infected military men and women back to U.S. soil. We treat them in military hospitals abroad.
And these are the kinds of faux-conservatives ABC wants. They don’t want the real thing. They don’t want people of intelligence who won’t back down. They want squishes and panderers, which is what they’ve auditioned so far. So, that’s why I don’t hold out hope. The new season begins, I believe, at the end of August. And they will not only have new co-hosts, but a new set. What I don’t predict is that they will last long or have new, higher ratings. “The View” ratings have plunged, and the show is a bore, which is why they wanted to bring back the sizzle of Rosie O’Donnell versus a phony conservative. But all the women they’ve auditioned are even more of a bore than the co-hosts they just fired. And the ratings when the auditionees have been on have plunged even further south. They won’t get the fireworks and accompanying higher ratings with the crew of tryout meat they’ve had so far. I’d bring that, but they don’t want a real, actual principled conservative who knows what she’s talking about.
On the positive side, I have a new camera that’s working with my Skype account, and I like it. So, coming soon in the future, I hope to do Skype videos and post them here. I’m enjoying communicating with friends through it, and I hope to communicate with you that way, too, real soon.
In any event, I didn’t reach out to ABC. They reached out to me. So it was good–I guess–to be considered for the gig.

I think that you could add common sense to that show. I’d watch it just to see the illogical nonsense spewed from the other hosts-but they already do that daily.
