Don’t Get Too Excited: Despite HAMAS Rockets, Israel Won’t Flatten Gaza, Problems Will Grow

By Debbie Schlussel

*** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE ***

I feel like Yogi Berra when it comes to what’s going on in Israel today. It’s deja vu all over again. During the Israel-Hezbollah war of 2006, or when Israel was forced to fight HAMAS in 2007 and again in 2008, 2009 and 2010, many friends and readers cheered Israel’s response, saying, “This time, Israel will finally crush them.” Um, no, this time and the next time and the next time after that, Israel will do no such thing. And so HAMAS (and in several cases Hezbollah) will use it as a victory to regroup, refresh, recruit, and re-arm. That’s what will happen this time, too. And that’s exactly the problem.

hamasrocketstelaviv

Hundreds of HAMAS Missiles Like This Over Tel Aviv & Jerusalem

Rocket missiles are falling all over Israel and its citizens are in bomb shelters. But tomorrow or in a week, they will be out of them, and Gaza will still be around with HAMAS still running the show, bragging about still being around and plotting the next such set of attacks on Israel. That’s how it always goes. Israel won’t flatten Gaza. Israel willingly, under non-stop pressure from George W. Bush, gave Gaza to HAMAS. And then, under the non-stop pressure from the father of Arab Spring and free elections for barbarians (George W. Bush, again), allowed Gaza to elect HAMAS. And, so, this problem will never go away. These Palestinians support HAMAS, which they proudly elected. They now occupy Gaza. And unless, Israel has the guts to flatten Gaza, this problem will keep festering, recurring, and will only get worse over time.

Remember when Israel went into Gaza over the HAMAS kidnapping of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit? Everyone told me I should cheer because Israel was finally going to defeat HAMAS. Really? It’s still here, and as I warned on this site then, the cheers are misplaced. I predicted that eventually Israel would pull out of Gaza, after several Israeli soldiers’ lives were lost, and HAMAS would declare victory. That’s exactly what happened, and Israel traded over a thousand Islamic terrorists for Shalit in the end. Read my 2008 column, “Don’t Get Too Excited About the Phony Baloney Israeli “War” v. HAMAS.” Everything I said would happen did, and nearly everything I said would happen with that “war” v. HAMAS will happen with this “war” v. HAMAS. Different Israeli Prime Minister, same deal. I’ve written so many columns like this over the years because Israel v. HAMAS is “Groundhog Day.” Same thing over and over again, same bad results.

You think Israel is going to go in and flatten HAMAS and Gaza this time? Think again. It won’t and it doesn’t have the guts. It worries too much about the international community and U.S. calls for “restraint” and condemnations of “disproportionate response” (this has been the verbatim lingua franca for Israel with every U.S. Prez–Obama, Bush before him, and so on). And, so, the rocket attacks–which have gone on daily for years (but the media doesn’t report them)–will continue. The problem will fester. Because Israel–like the rest of the West which holds it back–is too humane in the face of evil.

So your cheering is for naught. The rocket attacks will continue as they always have. There will be more kidnappings and murders of Israeli teens. and things will only get worse. When you have a cancer that’s invaded your hand, you do all you can to eliminate the cancer completely or it keeps growing and you die. You don’t use restraint and worry about “disproportionate response” and you don’t say, well, I can live with the cancer’s growth, so I will retreat. But Israel always eventually retreats, as it did repeatedly over the years with HAMAS, as it did in the meaningless Israel-Hezbollah War of 2006 from which it retreated after spilling Israeli blood for nothing and allowing Hezbollah to remain in control of South Lebanon.

What is different this time? The rockets over Tel Aviv? Won’t make a difference. The Tel Avivniks are still liberals like New Yorkers. They still won’t support flattening Gaza. And the Israelis will never do it. Because only America is allowed to flatten Nazis. Israel must live with Nazis all over and from within. And just sit there and take it, despite a few bombings and invasions for show and for videos.

A few weeks from now, HAMAS will declare victory as it always does and Israel will have gone home with its tail between its legs. And it will only embolden HAMAS and encourage the development of rockets that will go further.

Pray for the safety of the people of Israel in bomb shelters. And realize that because Israel won’t flatten Gaza and the international community won’t stand for it, the visits and stays in bomb shelters will only increase in the future as sitting ducks continue to sit and not eliminate those shooting at them. Israel is lucky. It has Iron Dome, the system which shoots down and destroys most rockets while they are still in the air. But this is a crutch and won’t save Israel ultimately because it is allowing the problem to grow instead of nipping it in the bud (which has long since sprouted into a blooming deadly flower).

Israel’s real wars–in which its goal was to soundly and mercilessly defeat the enemy–are over and have been for decades. And soon that will be the reason Israel is over.

Snakes bite. It’s what they do. You can’t live with a poisonous snake. You have to kill it.

*** UPDATE – Correction: As many readers pointed out, Yogi Berra is still alive. Apologies to Yogi. Glad you’re still with us. To paraphrase Mark Twain, news of your death was highly exaggerated (at least by me).***

Unfortunately, a couple of my comments have been lost.

An update: now Israel is being bombed from the north. I knew that a two-front war would happen after the Gaza Expusion. Stay tuned for a third front: Jordan.

After that, real militaries (Egypt, Syria, Iran, and Iraq) will wait opportunistically. Then Israel wll be attacked and destroyed

Is that what it says in the tea leaves?

Dakuan on July 11, 2014 at 2:51 pm

Israel is NOT going to be destroyed, SK, The evil state we have now will be but the Land and a few of the people are going to survive and WIN! If they succeed in hitting the Temple Mount, which I think they will, We will have WWIII and it’s going to get ugly, very ugly but NEVER AGAIN will Israel be destroyed and go into Exile. NEVER

I’m not surprised about the North being opened up and I speculate that they may start shooting from Yesha, if they haven’t already. Not going to explain why I said that but Fatah has admitted that they are now helping Hamas and where is Fatah, hmmm?

Deb:

This time could be very different.

First of all, the few Arab League States that still have cohesive governments are onto the Muslim Brotherhood. They realize now that the Ikhwan wants to establish a Muslim empire without borders. As such, the Ikhwan (and all their associated flavors) are a direct threat to standing Arab League national governments.

Moreover, the standing Arab League nations now realize (thanks to ISIS) that the Ikhwan needs absolutely no provocation to launch a major armed rebellion against a standing Arab League government. This is a big game-changer.

The Saudis are sick and tired of the Ikhwan. They underwrote Egypt’s short term debt just to get the military to overthrow the Muslim Brotherhood. The cat is out of the bag. Remaining Arab League governments know they are ALL in the Ikhwan’s crosshairs.

This means that no matter how much kvetching you hear about Israel’s strikes on Gaza, the Saudis et al are really hoping the Israelis severely weaken Hamas. That means that the U.S. State Dept. can’t kvetch at the Israelis without once again angering their Saudi patrons.

The Saudis are already angered at the O’Bama Administration for playing footsie with Iran. Restraining Israel from pounding yet another enemy of the Saudis will make things worse at precisely the wrong time.

Add to that, this comes in the heart of election season. No American politician or diplomat will want to turn the pro-Israel AND the Saudi petrochemical lobbies against them.

Everybody is really sick and tired of the Ikhwan driving countries into a state of anarchy; even the Russians (who now have to pony up cash to save their baby in Syria). Everybody knows HAMAS is part of the Ikhwan and the only friend Hamas has left is Turkey.

After 6 long years of O’Bama making kissy-face with Iran and the Ikhwan, the Arabs have finally figured out that the only ones in the middle east who actually respect the national identity of Arab League states is the loathsome Jews. To save their skins, they’ll let Israel pound HAMAS.

Israel may never again enjoy this kind of freedom of action. This isn’t 2008! It’s not 2006! It’s a whole new ballgame and every day, somebody from the Arab world unexpectedly whispers something to the effect: “… maybe the Jews aren’t so bad after all.”

Deb, we’ve talked about this. There has never been a good Jewish leader. Never. They have all pandered to there own needs! The us has NEvEr Given a FUCK about Israel! And will probably never will. We don’t have oil! We are only 14000,000 out of 7.2 billion! Despite are great intentions. Despite our resources! (An aircraft carrier in in a hot spot!)Despite our scientific discoveries! Despite our care for other humans! Despite that, we live in the fucking desert and can make it bloom! Hamas must be destroyed! I don’t care if it’s there families! Hezbollah! Must be destroyed! He’ll! Any Muslim! I don’t have a problem with beliefs, only acting upon them! If they want a World wide Caliphate so be it! But there should be serious shit to pay!

SK…time for a new equation, sans Israeli-Passivity and without Pressure…..they are all in this time….they will not be destroyed

HK on July 11, 2014 at 9:08 pm

They’ve upped the ante with bigger rockets and we have been pounding Gaza NON-STOP all evening. I mean we were hitting back earlier but it’s been constant for a few hours.

Meira on July 12, 2014 at 5:00 pm

Israel finally has concluded , we will not be influenced by those ( the world) that want us destroyed, to hell with you haters, its clobbering time !

HK: Tell me that in two months when HAMAS is still there and a ceasefire has been negotiated. Israel hasn’t concluded anything of the sort. I wish you were right. But it is not clobbering time. Not even close. They are giving warnings to HAMAS terrorists before they drop missiles on their homes. DS

Today, Bibi gave orders not to fix the electrical outage caused by one of their own missiles and which left 70,000 people in the dark. haha. It’s a start. He should disconnect the rest of them. An Israeli, delivering goods to Gaza, stopped dead in his tracks and blocked the convoy of deliveries. He said most of the drivers agreed with him. Maybe his actions will inspire others to strike rather than drive these trucks. But, unfortunately, we are still hesitating on a ground action. Based on my FB posts, most from conservative Israelis, people don’t want our soldiers hurt “just’ to go after Hamas. They think we can’t win it. What have surgical strikes done so far? Idiots.

Meira on July 14, 2014 at 6:06 am

The pro-HAMAS/anti-Israel propaganda is heating up on Facebook. I can’t keep up with it anymore.

Would anyone be willing to suggest a stellar source of information to counter the lies being circulated?

I can access the IDF page, but am wondering if there is any FB page dedicated to giving up-to-the-minute information to counter the HAMAS propaganda.

Thank you!

Aurora on July 14, 2014 at 8:55 am

There is no way to counter people who WANT to believe in lies. There is no such thing as a source of accurate information which will sway people bound and DETERMINED to believe in lies. This is how Satan pits us against each other. Throughout the world, we are ALL created in God’s image. Yet look at us! We’re all at each others’ throats.

This is because of Satan’s influence, and it is why the world is upside down, because Satan has succeeded in superseding the effect of unvarnished truth. Unvarnished truth no longer holds sway when it is presented, because of the veil that The Bible says exists. There are people who are truly shielded from discerning truth even when it’s in their face.

This is why I frequently compare the human race with a psychologically conflicted person. The answer to the person’s problems are right in front of their face, yet they are tearing themselves up inside, and searching everywhere in the universe for answers to what is right in front of them.

Take heart, Aurora, it won’t be this way forever, but it sure does suck right now. And it’s going to suck a lot worse, soon.

Satan=Arab propaganda and lies

HK on July 14, 2014 at 1:12 pm

Thank you, Alfredo.

I feel compelled, nevertheless, to at least post truths on my own FB timeline.

I know people read what I post, even if they don’t let it be known that they’ve visited my page.

People are very quick to believe HAMAS propaganda, or they simply don’t know how to counter the lies.

Then, there are just the old fashioned Jew haters who love, love, love their anti-semitism. Doesn’t matter what you tell them.

I will continue to post truth to the best of my ability.

Aurora on July 14, 2014 at 1:14 pm

Absolutely, because The Bible also says never tire of doing what is right. I also like to make the analogy that this life is akin to basic training, as in the military. No one said basic training would be easy, but we must go through it.

And never forget the immortal words of Curtis Mayfield and The Impressions, to . . .

    “Keep On Pushin’.”

So true Debbie, sad Israel forgot how to totally wipe out an enemy of the State. Not really sure why they care so much for International opinion, it will always be against them no matter what or how they do it.

Paulo on July 17, 2014 at 11:52 am

This time is different, Deb. Israel has the support of Egypt and (quietly) Saudi Arabia. Everybody is sick of HAMAS.

There are few Arab League States left with cohesive governments. Most have sank to a state of anarchy largely due to the Muslim Brotherhood (of which HAMAS, ISIS, Al-Qaida et al are a part). Arab leaders (the few remaining) now realize that the only nation-state in the region that actually respects their sovereignty and leadership is the loathsome Jewish State.

The other alternative to “The Jews” is Iran which has no respect for the sovereignty of Arab League States. Both Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood seek a borderless Islamic Empire ruled by a Caliphate. This leaves no room for the kings, sheiks, emirs and “presidents” of sovereign Arab League States.

Only “The Zionists” have the motivation and capability to stand up to both imperialist movements. As such, Israel is now the guarantor of Arab sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Last week, an Egyptian TV commentator taunted the military government saying: “Why aren’t you helping Israel attack HAMAS?” Imagine that! You wouldn’t have heard that before the “Arab Spring”.

The “Arab Spring” was never a democracy movement. It was quickly commandeered by the Ikhwan (Muslim Brotherhood) and now stands as a threat to every Arab League State. It has taken a while for the Saudis and their crummy Persian Gulf friends to figure this out (and some still haven’t as in the case of Qatar; home of Al-Jazeera).

Yet the muted sound you hear is largely due to the remaining Arab League States realizing that the Ikhwan is now heavily armed (Our news media likes to call them ISIS) and aiming to overthrow every Arab League dictator remaining. Loathsome though they may be, “The Jews” present no such problem. In fact, the Jews always wanted to be friends.

So you’ll hear the same conventional wisdom bandied about. World opinion will pressure Israel… blah blah blah. Actually, the Israelis have found out that an anti-Semitic world needs no provocation to harm Israel. Israel might as well defend themselves from lethal attacks and let the chips fall where they may.

Truth be known, Israel is a red-hot investment economy and the people kvetching about BDS are just going to be the losers. With the Russians on the march in Ukraine, Western Europe doesn’t know where they’re going to get natural gas from. Ooops! Those Jews they want to boycott just found a mother lode.

While Prime Minister Netanyahu tries to remain friendly with the hostile O’Bama Administration, he knows he has more freedom of movement now. O’Bama can’t stand up to the Russians, Iranians, Egyptians or Saudis. The Egyptian Army overthrew O’Bama’s darling Morsi. US aid still keeps coming.

With the Saudis, Egyptians AND Israel angry at HAMAS, I really don’t see a lot of whining from President O’Bama during an election season. I can count on President O’Bama to be a coward.

There’s no stopping Israel.

Regards,

Debbie, you were exactly right. I didn’t believe either that Netanyahu had the balls to finally destroy Hamas. The Israelis knew Hamas was preparing for war. They could have been ready with a massive invasion force that finally did in the terrorists. It wasn’t hard to foresee that anything short of a total annihilation of Hamas would be amount to an Israeli loss, which is exactly what has happened.
