Famous Black Actor Says Sterling Should Be Forgiven, Shouldn’t Be Forced to Sell Team, Decries PC

By Debbie Schlussel

Not all well-known Blacks support the NBA’s politically correct decision to force the demented fool Donald Sterling to sell his NBA team over statements made in a private conversation with his strange gold-digger girlfriend, V. Stiviano. This morning on ABC’s yenta hag-fest, “The View-opause,” actor Terry Crews, who was a guest co-host on the show, objected to the NBA’s actions against Sterling.

“President Camacho” Actor Terry Crews Opposes NBA PC Crusade Against Donald Sterling

Crews, who stars on FOX’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” played President Camacho in the fantastic “Idiocracy,” and was in all of “The Expendables” movies, said he is sick and tired of “all this political correctness. You shouldn’t lose your business over that. It shouldn’t be taken away from you because you said something that isn’t politically correct.”

He went on to say that Sterling was angry and said the things he said in a private conversation. Crews said, as we have said here on this site, that if everyone was judged by what they say when they are angry and in private conversations with friends and family, no one should own an NBA team. “I know when I’m angry, I say things to my family that I don’t mean.”

“The View” hags were aghast, including and especially bim Jenny McCarthy, who argued with Crews. Crews said Sterling should be forgiven and allowed to keep the team. McCarthy said, “Well, I’m saying forgive, but face consequences.” Hmmm . . . we don’t need to imagine the kinds of things McCarthy says in her private life. Her privates are on display for all of America, including in porn flicks she did for Playboy. But, hey, we’re not allowed to “judge” that kind of behavior, only un-PC speech.

In contrast to Crews, Dr. Benjamin Carson, darling of the conservative movement, who was a guest on the show, disagreed with with the Black actor and said Sterling should lose his team and “see that there are consequences to his actions.” It’s interesting that Carson, who also supports race-based affirmative action (even though he is a brilliant surgeon and didn’t need affirmative action to succeed), is with thought police liberals on this issue. I wonder if he’s really as conservative–other than on select social issues like abortion–as his supporters would have us believe.

Regardless, it was good to see Crews–a successful Black actor from Hollywood (he’s originally from Flint, Michigan)–is an independent thinker and doesn’t toe the line when it comes to political correctness and the NBA. It’s refreshing. By the way, Crews also agreed with Carson in opposing welfare handouts.

Now that Crews’ views are out there, I’m sure he’ll pay. Hollywood orthodoxy doesn’t stand for this kind of critical thinking and independence of thought.

***
For the record, I think Donald Sterling is a creep and a racist (as well as an anti-Israel, self-hating Jew) and said so from day one of this whole scandal. I also think he’s a demented fool. But I think it’s absurd that the NBA and the mainstream media, etc. are forcing him to sell his team when they take zero action against NBA racists who are Black. And I don’t think someone should be disciplined like this over things said in private conversations.

Actually, Ben Carson said we should move from affirmative action to a compassionate action NOT BASED ON PHYSICAL (READ RACE) APPEARANCES.

By that, he says look at the whole person and their experiences including their struggles in their life, but not as a race based affirmative action type program. Under his plan, the person would still have to be qualified. He has said a number of times it is time to move past affirmative action.

Carson is vilified by the left here in the People’s Republic of Maryland.

Sterling is senile, and a moron. I did not appreciate his ignorance or bigotry about Israel, so I certainly will not defend his ass. Of course, Jayzee should have been kicked out of the NBA, as should many of the players, but their pigmentation protects them from their actions.

Terry Crews is hilarious in everything I’ve seen him in. Cool story.

Hopewell on May 20, 2014 at 1:34 pm

Mr. Crews is going to make a lot of people in Hollywood mad. Hollywood is very unforgiving for those who dare to walk out the PC line, especially when the dissident belongs to a “minority” group.

Debbie says: “Now that Crews’ views are out there, I’m sure he’ll pay. Hollywood orthodoxy doesn’t stand for this kind of critical thinking and independence of thought.”

I agree that Terry Crews’ remarks about the absurdity of imposing political correctness into the Sterling situation is refreshing. But I don’t think Crews will pay a price for his comments. Crews is a very popular, versatile, and highly respected performer, and he’s also very bankable. When you add to the mix that he also happens to be Black, if anyone can get away with going against the heavy (and noxious) winds of political correctness, Crews is the guy to do it.

However, I do think that Hollywood will put him on the “watch list.” Should Crews continue to be outspoken on other issues that go against the Media Brain Police, then, perhaps, they may work on him. But for now, he’s safe.

I object!!! … calling “Ideocracy” “fantastic” is underrating the movie.

Dale Zalaoras on May 20, 2014 at 2:01 pm

I always liked Terry Crews, even more so now. I hope the thought police in Hollyweird do not persecute him.

john on May 20, 2014 at 2:14 pm

I understand the ramifications of “forcing him to sell” being that this is America and all, but the NBA is a private collective with rules, etc. The hurdle for the NBA, is that the players next year will not play for the Clippers, which could lead to a boycott, which all the teams will take a hit. That could very well happen.

So to save the NBA, Donald has to go. It is what it is. (The league is 86% black, 86% people, 86.)

Big D on May 20, 2014 at 2:29 pm

Of course he has to go. and I’m a WJM

HK on May 20, 2014 at 6:57 pm

Big D, the NBA has to be saved because. . . .

BTW, what proportion of the NBA are Blacks as opposed to Niggas, and why are you sympathetic to the latter?

skzion on May 21, 2014 at 9:00 am

Debbie,

I agree. For most of European history, most of the greatest minds were anti-Semites. But we don’t disown the contributions they made to world culture because of their prejudice. I don’t agree at all with their views – they were the product of their age. To an extent, its possible to separate a person’s accomplishments from their personal views.

I too, loathe Donald Sterling’s bigoted views. But he doesn’t deserve to lose his NBA franchise over it. If every one were subjected to a test of human perfection, very few of us would come out looking good. Men are not angels. We should certainly hate evil people but people who are simply prejudiced can still perform a public service. No one is calling for John Hagel to be fired even though he is anti-Israel.

Singling out Sterling for punishment we are unwilling to impose on others with views like his is not only a sign of hypocrisy, it shows that all the outrage over Sterling has to do with the fact he wasn’t as circumspect about his racism like other folks. And he expressed those views in a private conversation and they weren’t meant to be shared with the rest of the world.

Sterling didn’t kill any one and no one was inconvenienced because of his outburst. The thought police’s hounding of him says a good deal more them than it does about a disgraced racist. Every one made their disgust clear. Now its well past time to move on.

NormanF on May 20, 2014 at 2:33 pm

I don’t which is funnier: the idiot L.I. white public or the blacks beside themselves with confusion of having a “racist” who owns an NBA team.

I will enjoy watching what unfolds if Sterling fights, though.

DS_ROCKS! on May 20, 2014 at 4:37 pm

Mr. Crews has shown himself to be the only brave one. Jenny really does not have a leg to stand on when she criticizes others, given her background. As for Ben Carson, he may want to think over his dumping on Crews. Dr. Carson may find himself on the receiving end of some real blow back for positions he has taken, after his conservative friends grow tired of him.

I believe the central issue here is the Government’s aggressive initiation of encroachment over private property. Previously, they could take private property for environmental or eminent domain reasons. Now, the Government, likely using the NBA as a surrogate, is attempting to exercise thought control and speech control as criteria for maintaining private property, with the use of the Sterling case as a precedent.

It is inconceivable to me that the NBA is acting on its own on this. Their aggressive stance, partly due to Silver’s inexperience, is also, I believe, based on their under-the-table collaboration with Democratic Party politicians, as well as press connivance. That may well explain the reluctance of so many law firms to assist Sterling — yes, his racist comments are obnoxious, but these law firms defend one crook after another, all kinds of security fraudsters, etc. Their clients would object? Perhaps Obama, Kerry, and Garcetti are really the ones who would object.

There is the role of Time Warner. Not only has Sports Illustrated carried a series of inflammatory and biased legal analyses of the situation (by an attorney who appears to have little if any litigation experience, and is cooped up in an ivory tower), but a Time Warner affirmative action hack has been placed as President of the Clippers, with not a word about his illegitimate and adulterous love child.

Interestingly, the legal analyses have said nothing about the NBA’s scorched earth litigation policy. One week to answer charges that Mrs. Sterling’s attorney has termed as voluminous. Denial of an extension to Mr. Sterling’s attorney. And the issuing of the charges timed so that the one-week response time includes the long Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully the NBA’s litigation tactics will be monitored carefully form now on by conservatives.

I have also seen no analysis of the issue of progressive discipline. Assuming, arguendo, that Sterling has violated the NBA clauses, and that they are controlling here, does this automatically lead to his separation from the team? I have seen no discussion of this. Are there lesser penalties that could apply? Not a word about this. What are the legal precedents?

Yes, words speak louder than actions. Magic (what a first name — what narcissism) Johnson’s slick speech last week outweighs his disgusting actions with hundreds of women. Who knows how many were infected with HIV? Sterling was absolutely correct about this, other than confusing HIV with AIDS, and other than his inartful way of presenting his thoughts on this matter. But words speak louder than actions. Just ask President Obama, and those in the press who cover him.

Sterling is an easy target. He looks disgusting (notice all the photos with his stomach sticking out), acts disgusting, and his apparent dementia obviously interferes with clarity of thinking. If the NBA wins, it will make it easier for the Government to rob someone else, maybe a landlord, maybe a shopkeeper, of their property for incorrect thinking.

The key here is the relation of political correctness to property ownership.

The plaintiff, NBA or Government, is secondary.

As you mentioned, Parsons has not played a good role. Conservative on social issues? except affirmative action. except immigration, and who knows what he thinks about anything else? How can a political party make any pretense of principle and, at the same time, elevate a total unknown like him to a possible candidacy? A black Harriet Miers.

And the failure, so far as I know, of the so-called conservative press to support Sterling against the NBA? Isn’t free speech meant to protect the most controversial and offensive free speech (excluding, of course, treasonous comments or incitement to crime.) This is another litmus test, but the so-called conservatives are unwilling to say anything, perhaps because they are just hacks for the Republicans, who likely would have played the same role as the Democrats are almost certainly playing.

    Fantastic comment, Little Al.

skzion on May 21, 2014 at 9:09 am

Great insights and analysis that underscores what I’ve been thinking. The sequence of events was all too slick, Magic’s comments – too slick. As it’s progressed, it looks to me like the whole deal was planned — and now even the legal maneuverings you point out make it look even more deliberate.

Magic and others have been interested in the team for a while. Sterling wasn’t selling… Then, why on earth anyone would allow someone else to randomly tape them. Didn’t make sense. After watching v. Stil-whatever on TV, I realized she’s dumber than a box of rocks and there’s no obvious reason she would tape the guy and then have “outed” him as has happened. She’s a big-time gold-digger and he’s given her a LOT.

Obviously, she couldn’t care less about the guy being 80+, out of shape, opinionated, married, or about anything else — that girl is big-time money-motivated. And equally dumb.

Looks to me that someone else thought this up. Got her to get the old guy cranked up on an inflammatory issue — and then record him, even getting his permission so it would be legal. From that point, everything that happened has had a “pre-packaged” feel to it – now, including legal issues.

Then – se went to the game and was seen with Magic Johnson – not just a random, “Oh – I think I’ll go to the game with Magic Johnson today…” sort of thing one does. MJ is the Black guy who’s been trying to buy the team… she’s Sterling’s pal — perfect to spool Sterling up and goad him into saying racist things. Don’t see why else on earth would Johnson go out with her. Looks? Stimulating conversation? She’s the pal of his biz adversary. Getting Sterling to the point where he was ready to pop could have taken months — this would do it.

Again, while she’s dumb as hell – she’s smart enough not to upset the golden goose – unless there’s a much bigger golden goose. So – looks to me there is a much larger golden goose. Magic, Oprah, and I haven’t paid enough attention to see a WH tie, but – Obama owes a lot to the Hollywood crowd, there’s a lot of money to be made on this… and OBTW, Obama could use another distraction in the media about now – and this is a good one – a rich, fat, ugly-old WG painted a racist and the black community gets to position itself as righteously-driven along the lines of Obama’s narrative (and recently underscored by Holder’s commencement comments on race.)

All too convenient and smooth. I got a whiff of something early-on and since then it’s only gotten stronger. JMHO.

CG on May 21, 2014 at 11:02 am

I would like to add, that T. Crews most likely won’t get any backlash on this, well maybe by some ignant blacks who will fill he has “sold out, or not down with the cause” Quack! As for Hollyweird, nah not too much, because I think that now some of the dust has settled, people are concerned about this precedent.
(Forced to sell) and not to mention the woman who taped his conversations isn’t beloved and now has become the villain. I think T. Crews will be aiight.

@ Lil Al-Magic has never had HIV. Its all a lie. Never had it. Are we suppose to believe circa 91 he was the only rich person who had the money to pay for meds, that is the reason he’s still alive. Quack. I truly believe they (Aids foundation or whoever) needed a national spokesman and someone to raise awareness and money to the epidemic that was occurring. Magic most like received or receives endless amount of loot. Magic never was infected, and he gets so offended when people say this. I think you protest too much Magic.

Big D on May 20, 2014 at 5:36 pm

Big D, Larry Kramer and Miss Andrew Sullivan are both HIV+ and are both still alive. They also seroconverted before there were effective drugs.

skzion on May 21, 2014 at 9:12 am

And he got more from the medical foundations than he would have for his missed NBA years?

Little Al on May 20, 2014 at 5:51 pm

It shouldn’t come as a big surprise that a guy like him, who is obviously is not going to be bullied by ANYBODY, would be one of the few to speak his mind and go against the main stream. He’s articulate and physically imposing, and black. Bad combination for libs to intimidate. Marvin Hagler was another guy that impressed me back in my youth. Yes, he was a former inmate, but the two white guys that helped him stay out of trouble after prison were never forgotten by him. He repeatedly refused to sign with Don King and his militant black agenda he used on Tyson later. Hagler was a family man and stuck with his mentors, the Petronelli brothers and did well for himself as champion.

samurai on May 20, 2014 at 6:10 pm

@ Lil Al, Yes, however Magic was paid, he was paid. I honestly believe it, they came to him, pitched their idea, and he said yes because he felt that he would be doing a great service to America and its a noble sacrifice, but yes he was paid and continues to be so. I don’t believe he ever had HIV. (He also didnt have that many years left, just a few more, he was at the end of career.

Big D on May 20, 2014 at 6:43 pm

@Big D…..come on, man, what are you saying ? Of course Magic had/has the virus. Were you following the league? He was one of many in the NBA back then on the down low. All real.

HK on May 20, 2014 at 6:55 pm

And, responding further to Big D, it would not surprise me if the vocal players and ex-players were also in collusion with the NBA. Leaving aside the matter of contracts, it is striking to me how quickly the players’ intemperate comments stopped once the Sterlings’ lawyers actually started getting involved.

Apparently the NBA, which I believe controlled these responses, decided to push other buttons instead.

Little Al on May 20, 2014 at 6:43 pm

bottom line…not many will flock to defend Sterling’s comments or the Westboro Baptist Church….both hurtful, vile and antisocial

HK on May 20, 2014 at 7:09 pm

@ Lil Al, Collusion? No, I think all the anger was real, is real.
The man comes off as a quack. I think of the anger has dissipated
now that the girl is the villain, we also see he is deranged, but to make a point, I doubt very much that C. Paul would play, or Blake, next year along with the rest of the team, to make a point. Which would bring value down, so Sterling would lose even more.

@ HK, yeah I know the Magic stories, along with Eddy etc, Eddies stories obviously appear to be true, but even so, if Magic was sleeping with men, he doesn’t have HIV. Circa 91, he is not the only rich guy who could afford treatment, his wife is ok, no one came out the woodpile and said Magic gave me this or that. He’s never had it. All a ruse to bring attention and awareness and money to the HIV cause, circa 91, there was panic.

Big D on May 20, 2014 at 7:30 pm

    @Big D

ok Big D….sure is a fantastic story if youre right…I remember the shock like it was yesterday, and how Bird, who’s as stoic as they come, got all welled up….quite a con if what you say is true..

HK on May 21, 2014 at 5:31 pm

Sterling somehow got Max Blecher (antitrust genius) to take the case. This BS will continue to swirl in the media until it loses momentum. By that time, the public will forget about it then Max will (ever so quietly) make mincemeat out of the NBA. NOTHING will happen. Sterling will lay low/pay no fine and that-will-be-that. Case closed…

#1 VATO on May 21, 2014 at 3:42 pm

I agree with Terry Crews just the way the information was gathered was all wrong and if you look at the team from the coach to the waterboy he certainly believes in hiring blacks, if the team was all white I’d raise an eyebrow but this is clearly a personal vendetta by the NBA against Sterling.

Is that the true name of that movie “Idiocracy” I remember you played clips of if years ago and I saw it on TV once, probably one of the funniest movies around and I’ve been looking for it but didn’t know the name.

THE MANGOG on May 21, 2014 at 8:58 pm

But you’ve certainly got to admit — Dr. Carson is humble.

He really doesn’t want to run for President, but he may have to if he decides that his country needs him.

Little Al on May 22, 2014 at 7:30 am

I appreciate the honesty of some black people. As Terry’s comments suggest, WE ARE NOT A MONOLITHIC, BLIND-LEADING-THE-BLIND group. There is little you can say against the Left leaning masses. I will never let facts overrun TRUTH. Sterling is a racist, but where were ALL OF THESE PEOPLE when his rants started – DECADES AGO?!

Fact is, $$$$ kept them all QUIET. Money being made by NBA, NAACP, Magic Johnson Theaters, etc.

Truth is, we ALL are closet-somethings that we don’t want others to know about…we eat too much, drink too much, sleep around, etc.. He does not like blacks, so! I don’t like race-baiters like Jesse and Al Sharpton [notice the title they claim is omitted – ’cause they oughtn’t be revered].

Sad to hear that my beloved Dr. Carson is in opposition. Still a brilliant man, so maybe we need to tweak his socio-political viewpoints…he can learn to think better about this one.
