Good-Bye Shirley Temple, Hello Honey Booboo; Shirley Temple, Israel & the Jews

By Debbie Schlussel

As you probably know, legendary child star Shirley Temple Black died. Contrast her wholesomeness of yesteryear that is sadly so passe with that of child stars of today who are famous for being slobs and dressing like adult whores in pageants (see Honey Booboo) or getting pregnant (Teen Mom) or making porno tapes (Kardashians, Paris Hilton) or lifelong drunken stupors and drug addictions (Lindsay Lohan). Temple tried desperately to make it as an adult star and never caught on. But, unlike today’s former Disney stars (see Vanessa Hudgens, Britney Spears, etc.), she didn’t slut herself out to make things happen. That was then. Sadly, things are oh so different now. A lot of liberals are remembering Temple because she was allowed to sing and dance with a Black man, Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, in many of her movies. But Shirley Temple was also an American patriot, who promoted War Bonds during World War II to help fund our war efforts.

When I was a kid, I used to watch old Shirley Temple movies they played on TV on Sunday mornings (but I never really got into that–wasn’t my kind of thing). I heard rumors from people in the Jewish community that Shirley Temple was, in later years, anti-Semitic and anti-Israel. I can’t find anything showing that (if you can, please post in the comments or send it to me–unfortunately, people often believe if it’s not on the internet, it ain’t true, but that’s just ignorance). Temple was a UN Ambassador (and also U.S. Ambassador to Ghana) and did do LOTS of fundraising work for the VERY anti-Israel, anti-Semitic UNICEF, the organization that often funds and promotes anti-American, anti-Semitic Islamic propaganda and education for Muslim kids and has for years (along with UNRWA). For that, she bears responsibility–she knew what she was doing. She also shamelessly stood in line to visit Lenin’s tomb in Moscow in 1965, while many prisoners of conscience, including many Jews, were forced to suffer in the gulags and ghettos of Soviet Communism.

But I also note that in 1948, she visited Jews at the Los Angeles Jewish Home for a luncheon marking the Jewish holiday of Purim (see the photo above) and was at a reception for Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir in 1969 (see photo below)hosted by Israeli diplomat Abba Eban in Manhattan (though that was when support for Israel was hip among everyone).

It should be noted that Shirley Temple was active in the Republican Party and supported our troops in the Vietnam War. That cost her in a primary against leftist, pro-Islamic-terrorist “Republican” Pete McCloskey, a scumbag and RINO (Republican In Name Only). But she was also in charge of Jimmy Carter’s Inauguration festivities. (That was after Carter ran to the right of Gerald Ford, however.)

In any event, I shall remember Shirley Temple as the talented child who gave wholesome cheer to Americans in a time when America was in bad economic straits in the Great Depression and at the dawn of World War II and who supported our efforts during the war. She was the most popular child star in American history and the least trashy. And she was so popular that some say she single-handedly rescued Fox Studios from economic ruin.

The Good Ship Lollipop has sailed for the last time.

Shirley Temple Black, Rest In Peace.

People like her come from another time. When I saw the news about her passing, I had no idea she was still alive.

Sad to say, we’ll never see her likes again in this country. With celebrities living trashy, depraved and criminal lifestyles nowadays, we’ll remember Shirley Temple as that rare exemplar of decency among the rich and famous.

Our standards have fallen to the point that her sins appear to be very minor compared what is going on today. She will be missed!

Shirley Temple, RIP.

Perhaps she could have just had a problem with Israel and not Jewish people? Unfortunately, if one does not agree with Israel’s policies and/or AIPAC’s power in American foreign policy, they are often branded “anti-semitic”

Frank on February 11, 2014 at 2:39 pm

    Frank:

    Let me make three points.

First, Martin Luther King, who supported Israel, stated, “Don’t talk like that. When people criticize Zionists, they mean Jews.”

Second point: Go F–k yourself. When you say AIPAC, you mean Jews and their “control of Congress: as enunciated by anti-Semitic turds like yourself.. When you talk about criticizing Israel’s policies, you are really talking about Israel’s right to exist, because Israel’s policies are based on survival of Israel and all of the Jewish people.

Third point: To make myself clear and so you can understand, I will say it again: Go F–k yourself.

About as original as your handle frank.

No, they couldn’t because people that are anti-Israel generally propagate lies about Israel or believe them which can be just as bad.

If they say they sympathize with the plight of the Palestinians then they are generally patronizing in their sympathy because it means they are not taken in by the anti-semitic propaganda of the “Palestinians”. To be taken in would of course mean that are just as anti-semitic.

Taken in or not they never make efforts to dispel the distortions or bring attention to them or address them because they are themselves liars.

It is not important to them, only forcing Israel to make concessions to a hostile enemy is important.

You see they cannot stand that a Jewish state exists without the need to bow its head.

    This they call arrogance.

Frankz on February 11, 2014 at 3:53 pm

“Perhaps she could have just had a problem with Israel and not Jewish people?”
    Perhaps but actually not really

Frankz on February 11, 2014 at 3:59 pm

Frank, the post referenced UNICEF. Are you really dumb enough to believe that UNICEF is simply in disagreement with Israel’s policies and not anti-semitic?

Re Temple and Bojangles Robinson, yes, Temple and Fox deserve credit for elevating Robinson to dignified roles. But Temple’s films with Robinson are more complex than liberals give them credit for.

For instance, in The Littlest Rebel, Robinson is a slave. His positive relationship with Temple and the family are emphasized from the film’s beginning. The North is portrayed both positively and negatively. Lincoln of course is exalted in the film, as is a Northern officer, but Northern troops are portrayed as wanton barbarians, destroying Southern property needlessly wherever they go.

Of course these liberals quite likely are extrapolating backwards, as today’s films have no political complexity at all for the most part. They are liberal through and through with little or nothing in them portraying non-liberals in a positive light.

That little movie about THE WAR and a family involved in it came at a time when this country was in a deep depression and some felt that there would be a war in Europe and the USA would eventually be in it! UNITY in this land was becoming essential.

The little curly headed girl brightened spirits and made people smile. To see a beloved little child dance with a person who cared for her NO MATTER his color, MADE people happy!

My mother who saw the movie as child in Georgia with her parents when it was NEW. She loved it and so did her parents who were both the grandchildren of men who served in the CSA and died in the WAR …and not even slave owners.

Mother made my hair look like Shirley’s. My grandmother made gorgeous outfits just like Shirley’s for me to wear for special events at church or for my birthday.

I was raised to admire Shirley Temple and even took tap dancing lessons for years!

When I became a porcelain doll artist years later, my first doll to win a prize in a competition was a Shirley Temple doll dressed as the ” LITTLE COLONEL”. I made those dolls for years and almost sold one to John Wayne but he became ill and passed away before I could complete the doll. He was a HUGE collector of dolls and a fan of little Shirley Temple.

There were plenty of bad folks about during THE WAR and I KNOW the UNION troops were NOT all pure, decent people they write that they are in their OWN HISTORY BOOKS! That Shirley Temple movie showed some of the bad things that happened and it made some UNION folks feel uncomfortable.

In many cases. the Northern troops and their out riders called “bummers” DID horrible things to Southern civilians and it is well documented. Just read what they did at Oakland cemetery in Atlanta to dead civilians and recently dead Confederates after they took the town in September of 1864.

It is just ME AGAIN on February 11, 2014 at 8:41 pm

I always despised UNICEF from the ’60s when I was a kid for their liberal agenda and propoganda in schools and PSAs on TV for trying to guilt and ezploit we kids to forego trick-or-treating and do their bidding by having us collect money for them in those stupid orange boxes.

I didnt have a very easy childhood and they tried to rob me of the one consistently fun night od the year. The one holiday that it disnt matter if you were destitute or in anguish because you xould dress as a hobo and anyone could come home with a pillowcase full of candy.

I didnt care about the emaciated kids theyd show and in fact I resented them because of UNICEF’s heavy-handed ads. I was just a kid and I figured that we all had our crosses to bear.

mobileDSR on February 11, 2014 at 3:10 pm

There is no basis to say that Shirley Temple was anti-Semitic or anti-Israel. Yes, she did the dance for UNICEF, which I absolutely oppose, but that was the politically popular thing.

This woman was made fabulously wealthy by the Jews who worked in Hollywood, during Hollywood’s clean glory years. No reason to think she was ungrateful.

And for those who think Hollywood is controlled by Jews, Fox is owned by an Australian, Sony is Japanese, Universal is mostly French owned, and if you look at the end of many movies, particularly movies showing Jews in a bad light, you will see that the movies are partially funded with UAE or Kuwaiti money.

Jonathan E. Grant on February 11, 2014 at 3:14 pm

In Shirleys time all of the American film business was Jewish. Read the very eastern European names in the credits on all of her films from that period. Without the Jews input, would Hollywood have ever risen to it’s heights without them?
Rupert Murdoch may have been born in Australia but he is an American citizen and has revoked his Australian citizenship. Most Australians look at him and his offspring in askance.
My memories of Shirley Temple were of her being attacked in the 1960’s as being a communist sympathizer and it was seen as a strange thing when she was made ambassador .
If No bad things are to be found on the web about her, that only says that her management has been very effective at snuffing out any voices of dissent.
Oh,by the way, I looked at the pic of Judy Garland and was wondering how Shirley had grown so quickly during the war years… ha ha .

    Aron B on February 12, 2014 at 4:09 pm

I am not troubled by Shirley Temple going to Lenin’s tomb. When I was in Hanoi, I wanted to go to Ho Chi Minh’s tomb, but it was getting dark. Replacement of G-d with communist leaders is a twisted but fascinating development in socialist nations. (Look how Obama is worshipped like a G-d in the black and JINO communities (Jews in name only)).

Jonathan E. Grant on February 11, 2014 at 3:17 pm

Debbie, thanks for this story about the late Shirley Temple and her passing. I was not on my computer all night last night and all morning today, because I needed a little more time away from my computer and the internet, but when I heard and read the story that Ms. Temple passed away, I was pretty stunned, ever since she became a lot older life, she hasn’t been seen or heard that frequently, yes I’m aware that she ran for political office many years ago and wasn’t successful, because she was pretty patriotic by being pro-American, and lost to her Republican counterpart, who as DS elaborated as a “RINO”.

I to don’t know whether or not Ms. Temple was an Israel-loather or anti-Semitic, I to will be looking for some sort of empirical, definitive proof to see whether or not she held such views or if it were the opposite and the folks who encompassed around with Ms. Schlussel used “sensationalism” to probably demean Shirley Temple?

“A nation is defined by its borders, language & culture!”

Sean R. on February 11, 2014 at 3:31 pm

During Shirley Temple’s heydey in the 1930s, the anti-Americans of the Communist Party thrived on getting celebrities involved in their Popular Front activities because it was ‘the thing to do.’ Some of these celebrities were Communists, and knew exactly what they were doing.

Others were sympathetic to Communism, and although not Communists themselves, also knew exactly what they were doing.

The ones who were clueless probably hurt Americanism the most, because of their more wholesome images (e.g. movie stars rather than nerdy writers). The beating that the House Un-American Activities Committee took in 1938 over Shirley Temple is legendary. She had, probably unwittingly signed a Communist-inspired petition shortly before, and when HUAC called attention to this, the Committee was ridiculed throughout the country.

This incident, probably more than any other, discredited HUAC during that time period, and undoubtedly detracted from the Committee’s later investigation of Communists after World War II.

Even a 10-year-old, or her parents and advisors, should have realized the responsibility they had to make sure that she did not endorse any causes that were damaging to American beliefs. They relinquished that responsibility in 1938, and the result was a strengthening of the Communist Party, quite likely fortifying the Communists’ role in Government during World War II that led to Chinese and Eastern European Communism.

Things like this should not be taken lightly. After the fiasco with HUAC in 1938, she should, and probably was, doubly on guard before her involvement with UNICEF. Her prior mishap with HUAC, and what she probably learned from it, suggests that she knew what she was getting into with UNICEF. I am sure that her 30s experience caused her to look carefully at what she was giving her name to from then on, so yes, I am sure she knew she was endorsing UNICEF’s anti-semitism.

Or maybe you’re a Polish Atheist, and you’re sorry that Poland’s attempt to sabotage the Jews in WWII didn’t quite work out so well?

Well, with regard to Jews becoming extinct, let me hit you with something from your namesake, the Apostle Paul. That’s right, same name as you, what a coinkydink, ehhhhhhh?

Read his dissertations in The Bible about salvation. Salvation through Christ, when He returns, is “FIRST” for the Jew, then the Gentile. Interesting, huh? King David was a Jew, and God told him he was GUARANTEED a place in The Kingdom. The Savior in His human form was also a Jew, but you know that already, you’re just here because your date rape scheme didn’t work out so well tonight. Wossamotta U., Harvey didn’t have the vial you requested two nights ago? Awwwww.

Shirley Temple’s movies were before my time, but she was just great. I have the world’s best web page on the origin or the “Shirley Temple” non-alcoholic cocktail, with ginger ale and grenadine.

Barry Popik on February 11, 2014 at 4:13 pm

The Shirley Temple Black of cinema represents the lost American values of an innocent childhood. Similarly, we lost Annette Funicello last year, who represented the innocence of America’s teenagers that has been lost in the sands of time.

Ralph Adamo on February 11, 2014 at 4:14 pm

Origin “of,” not “or.”

The cocktail was supposedly invented for her 10th birthday at Chasen’s in Los Angeles, but I found it first cited in 1946 (when Shirley was 18).

Barry Popik on February 11, 2014 at 4:18 pm

My mother was very peculiar about her Jewishness. She never talked about it but she would not support causes like the Red Cross that were anti-Semitic and if an individual seemed anti-Jewish, she disparaged their work and the adulation others gave them. She loved Rabbi Kahane. She never told me not to like someone because they were an anti-Semite but I trusted her judgement about not liking someone or some cause. I learned to read between the lines of what she was actually disapproving of. In fact, in some cases, as with the ARC, she was very outspoken in her condemnation and refusal to be associated with them. The local chapter was always after her, as a locally well known doctor, to lend her name to some campaign or other. I also watched Shirley Temple on TV but Mom was very disparaging of her success, and particularly of her later move into the Diplomatic Corps. BTW, Shirley Temple Black was also Amb. to Czechoslovakia. So I can’t prove it but I suspect that my pretty perceptive mother knew that Ms. Temple did not make the best political choices and that she was not a friend to Israel or the Jewish people.

I know this sounds peculiar but this was her way of hiding her Jewishness. She taught me about the Holocaust, I saw the newsreels on TV at an early age, and I was raised to accept people regardless of their background but she could not be transparent about this issue. I think going to University in Rome in the early 30’s and having friends whose parents were in Mussolini’s inner circle may have influenced her behavior.

Meira on February 11, 2014 at 4:50 pm

BTW, a Google search reveals NOTHING of her views or beliefs and such an absence is always suspect.

I am going to give her a pass unless their is some evidence of her being a a conscious antisemite. Her work with UNICEF and the United Nations was disturbing. Also, her visiting Lenin’s Tomb also showed very poor judgment. Such things are marks against her. However, her talent and better work do count for something.

worry01 on February 11, 2014 at 8:02 pm

One consequence of Ms. Temple’s popularity in the 1930’s was that many, many girls born in the 1930’s were named (or very nearly named) after her (and with the curly ‘do to go with that). In 1934 alone, for example, there came into the world moonbat Shirley MacLaine and former Partridge Family ‘mom’ Shirley Jones. (This is a recurring pattern in history, just as many girls born in the 1940’s would be named after Linda Darnell, for instance – think Linda Evans, Linda Ronstadt, the late Linda McCartney, and former Petticoat Junction co-star Linda Kaye Henning.)

Irrespective of her mixed record after retiring from show business, it would seem that the latter part of her life was far happier, on average, than in her child-star days; she was surely one of the few to make it with less damage than other erstwhile child actors (think much of the “Little Rascals / Our Gang” cast, i.e. Carl “Alfalfa” Switzer).

ConcernedPatriot on February 11, 2014 at 8:56 pm

Deb:

Back in the days before the 1967 War Against Israel, UNICEF didn’t have the kind of nefarious reputation you mention. I’m not certain what years Shirley raised funds for UNICEF, but I thought I’d mention that.

Regards,

There is NO Santa Claus (aka TINSC)

TINSC: I thought of that. But she raised money for UNICEF when it was already very bad–in the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. DS

There is NO Santa Claus on February 11, 2014 at 10:50 pm

It was part of the UN. That’s bad enough. My parents HATED the UN back in the 50’s and onward. There used to be commercials for the UN on TV with celebrities and they had a little song to “Turkey in the Straw” with Gene Krupa on drums that was pretty catchy. I was told in no uncertain terms that we did NOT support them and they shouldn’t be promoting their agenda that way. I was given the UNICEF boxes in school but parental override forbade me from taking them out on Oct. 31. I got no little amount of razzing [oh excuse me, “bullying”] for that, let me tell you. The teachers weren’t happy either.

Meira on February 12, 2014 at 12:53 pm

Shirley Temple is not the only movie star from the classic period who has died recently. For instance, Joan Fontaine and Eleanor Parker have both died recently. While they may not have had the contemporary acclaim that Shirley Temple had, they certainly were prominent for quite a few years.

Yet, virtually no mention of either of them, and Temple’s adulatory press today was way out of proportion to her contemporary fame relative to Parker and Fontaine.

Not only does this indirectly reflect the cult of youth that is so prominent today among liberals (college subsidies, health subsidies, food stamp subsidies, etc., etc.,) but it reflects the liberals’ belief that young people can be molded to fit liberals’ image, and that young people should be put on a pedestal, while older people have death panels to look forward to.

I know it sounds far-fetched, but think about it. Why is the adulation of Temple so much out of proportion to other stars who were almost as well known?

Little Al on February 11, 2014 at 10:56 pm

I agree, La. It was late last night when I posted and but my comment about the Google search turning up nothing negative was trying to allude to what you are saying.

BTW, Debbie compared Honey BooBoo unfavorably to ST, but the NYTimes (who knows if it’s true) mentioned how ST got her start. As a toddler, she was in a dance class that put on a revue called “Baby Burlesks.” Someone “noticed” her. The toddlers were dressed and acted like the screen sirens of their day, Marlene Dietrich, and Delores del Rio among them, right down to the revealing outfits provocative acts and “satin garters.” So, if true, Ms. Temple started her career in much the same way as Honey Boo Boo, imitating slutty stars of the day. She said later that it didn’t seem to harm her much but she was not always the cute little girl she portrayed. There was a toughness there by the time she got into her late teens. She knew her way around the studios.

Meira on February 12, 2014 at 2:47 am

      Sorry, LA

Meira on February 12, 2014 at 2:48 am

And to carry this a step further, teachers justify their extortionate demands by saying it’s to benefit the KIDS. The extortionate traffic monitoring that is taking place all over the country is for the KIDS. Welfare and food stamps is not to subsidize bums and loafers, it is for the KIDS. Throwing money away on college students that would have been to dumb to finish high school 50 years or so ago, is for the KIDS.

Temple’s death just gives the liberals another chance to put the CHILDREN on a pedestal.

Little Al on February 11, 2014 at 11:02 pm

Little Al makes very good and interesting points. I remember when The Cultural Pancake Flip of 1964-1969 was happening. I remember my mother and other adults pointing out to me how other cultures revered their elderly, including so many so-called “backward” cultures, as they were referred to at the time. Well, with the completion of that flip at the end of 1969, here we are 45 years later, and old people are to be ignored and just thrown on the ash heap of history, literally and figuratively.

Just look at some of the most heinous examples of the knockout game. These young “toughs” have picked on more than one person in their 70’s.

I’m glad I listened to correction, and that discipline made an impression on me when I was young. I’m glad The Lord gave me a conscience and taught me to always seek to better my character, take mistakes to heart, learn from them and improve myself. But in 1995, the year I turned 39, I looked around at society, and realized I was becoming irrelevant and had better get used to even more irrelevancy as I grew old.

And of course, The Great StainMaker’s press secretary told us that character issues don’t matter, it’s how you run the country that counts. Well, he didn’t run the country so well, but he’s considered one of the greatest presidents of all time, . . .

by people who are now growing old, and being disrespected themselves. And I am old, and disrespected. And all I’m left with, since I can’t even change one of the hearts and minds around me, is that it’s God’s Will, and I had better just shut up, live my life and fade away. Great points, Little Al. Shame on us. Shame on America.

Don’t remember hearing about Joan Fontaine and Eleanor Parker. When I was young Joan Fontaine was still very popular. But the times they were a changin’. Now they have completely changed, and the cry of “Kids Rule” has been going up since the 90’s.

Jesus can’t come soon enough for me.

In the meantime, just like EVERYONE else here, I will continue to be myself.

People around here need to be more concerned with trolls and those of the regular membership who get in to their occasional squabbles which often escalates in to name calling and outright bitterness.

        I see Alfredo is Hay-Soosing.

“just like EVERYONE else here, I will continue to be myself.”

I guess that depends on the meaning of the words “I will continue to be myself.” I regularly bite my tongue rather than say precisely what I’d like to say. People who come here a take a public dump are a pain. Once they relieve themselves, others come around and copy them.

That’s why we have the troll Gerald back here, he who didn’t do much Hay-Soosing in his heyday. But now that his anti-Semitism has been revealed, he piggybacks on Alfredo’s efforts. Thanks Alfredo!

Incidentally, this is the same Gerald who is oh-so-insistent that blacks be treated with kid gloves, whatever their level of sociopathology. He came here denying that he was a leftist, but it turned out that he was one–but a Jew-hating and homo-hating leftist. The latter shows that he couldn’t even be consistent in his leftism. Yuck!

skzion on February 12, 2014 at 5:27 pm

@Alfredo…: Your references to “The Cultural Pancake Flip of 1964-1969” is but one reason why the 26th Amendment of 1971 has turned out to be a colossal mistake, as our youth who had been “educated” since that period has been fully indoctrinated into leftism, moral depravity, cultural rot, etc., from the time they were children, so that by the time they turn 18 and reach voting age they have been fully inculcated with leftist values, to the effect that the 18-29 age group has become yet another monolithic Democrat voting bloc, and the country’s political structure and direction have moved even further Left (and ultimately led to Obama and his two terms).

But I digress . . . and given how “Honey Booboo” was referred to in this article, when that TV freak show (I’m referring more to the program) first came on, I thought it was a reference to a cartoon character. Which many “reality show” personalities have been reduced to.

ConcernedPatriot on February 12, 2014 at 8:06 am

That’s very interesting, CP, and I’m going to look in to that even more. I am not NEARLY as well schooled in The Constitution as I should be. I have heard Mark Levin also talk about how the 17th Amendment was a mistake, again, I draw a blank. Thank you for the guidance.

And with regard to the youth culture, indeed. I saw it happening all around me when I was young. I remember other kids always getting away with all kinds of mayhem and mischief when I was young, and when I either tried to go along with them, or pulled my own pranks, I always got caught and it was NOT well received.

For some reason, grownups, teachers and employers used to find my own flaws, shortcomings and misbehavior, unacceptable. When I was young, for a long time, I resented that. I was always told when I would try to point that out, that it was out of character for me. So, they could accept other young people acting like pieces of crap, but not me.

As an adult, I slowly learned to embrace that, because after my car accident at 21 1/2, although it took six and a half years to come completely to God, I began to get a lot more pensive and serious about certain things. I realized that God was trying to make me walk a certain path. Evidently He was quite concerned about my character issues. I’ve been glad for that, for a long time now. It has led me to become a lot stronger than I ever would given myself credit for.

If someone told me back in 1978 what I was going to go through for the next 36 years, right up to this very day, yes, today, I would have told them, no, I’ll put a gun to my head before that happens.

Well, in the immortal words of Elton John, with a few dings and dents, . . .

      “I’m still standin’,
      Better than I ever did,
      Lookin’ like a true survivor,
      Feelin’ like a little kid . . .”

Thanks again for the guidance. Going to delve in to that pocket Constitution I have, perhaps on the plane next Thursday. Been carrying it around forever. High time I checked it out thoroughly.

To be fair (IMO), diplomacy requires walking on both sides of the street, especially if the street happens to be dividing the good part of the neighbourhood from the bad part.

I don’t know if the people of the now-defunct Czechoslovakia or the still-existing Ghana knew of Shirley Temple’s film career but having a certain level of notoriety is an asset, if not a necessity, when getting a diplomatic posting. Smile, wave, choose words carefully, throw big-ass parties (admit it, regulars: you love yourselves a good laugh from time to time). While at the same time follow your master’s directives in ensuring that your country’s interests are being well represented and protected.

In a way, the diplomat is both pimp and prostitute: you are selling your country and its benefits while maintaining the party line of the powers that place you there, whether in the form of a trade agreement, immigration policy or repping your fellow countrymen who live in the country where you’re posted.

Would I wish that fate on my worst enemies? If they can both be earnest and duplicitous at the same time while furthering the country’s best interests, why the hell not? Maybe I should’ve considered a career in the diplomatic corps, if only because I could pull off these traits with the greatest of ease and reap the fringe benefits as a result of my talents.

Shirley Temple, as an actress, had done good in this field. She could’ve made a good, if not great, president. Because, Reagan.

Just my 2 cents, eh?

The Reverend Jacques on February 12, 2014 at 12:15 am

Could Jonathan E. Grant be projecting? Is he the product of a Jewish uncle-niece marriage? Legal, presumably because of shrewd lobbying, in one of the little east coast states convenient for honeymooners from New York City. Del. or R.I.
A “religious” exemption is made for Jewish incest while modern Hollywood movies portray West Virginians as homicidal in-breds. Could Hollywood be projecting?

Alfredo:

If one literally interprets Matthew 24:4-14 and checks them against the reports from our missionaries in the field (see http://www.joshuaproject.net/10-40-window.php and similar), Jesus Christ isn’t coming back anytime soon. And things are going to get a lot worse before He does. So you had better steel yourself for the future with a lot of Bible reading, prayer and fasting, my brother.

Gerald on February 12, 2014 at 9:19 am

Yes Gerald, I know, exactly, and have been saying such things on this web site for the entire time I’ve been posting, and elsewhere for a long, long time. The Great Tribulation is nigh, and I believe it is coming very soon. Vewy scawy doings, indeed.

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on February 12, 2014 at 9:40 am

“The Great Tribulation is nigh.”, and “verwy scawy”? And for some, where’s the scary part? For, “Those who know their G0D shall do exploits.”. If you know that, the Great Tribulation is nigh, . . . perhaps, . . . you would be well advised to get acquainted with The One Who Is In Charge of it all, . . . you need not be so frightened.

Phillip Galey on February 13, 2014 at 10:09 pm

I will disagree with your timetable, Gerald. It is looking more and more as if Messiah [i.d.to be determined] is pretty close. You have a one world religious alliance forming between the Vatican and Islam, the very probably anti-messiah in either the White House or Kremlin, economic, natural and man made disasters; disease, famine and plague running rampant and most of all the hearts of men “waxing cold.” Not only are there constant murders and mayhem, the brutality had increased exponentially in the last few years. Fascism is on the rise and Americans can’t even trust their police forces to be there for them. That’s just some of what has happened that points to a Global upheaval such as the World has never experienced.

Meira on February 12, 2014 at 1:03 pm

Excellent and chilling analysis, Meira. This is why I live cringing in fear, as an American who was brought up in “the land of the free and the home of the brave.” This has now become the land of the flea and the home of the knave/slave.

The Beast is going to be a religio-political system which will rule the world with extreme oppression, and no one will be able to buy or sell without receiving The Mark of The Beast in their hand or forehead. For a long time after 911 there were discussions of a “national I.D. card” in America. Let’s extrapolate that to a “world I.D. card,” since one world government types like George Soros are behind much of the machinations now occurring. And with modern technology, that becomes a “world I.D. chip” implanted in the hand or the forehead, as prophesied.

With a chip implanted, there would be much less worry for the authorities about counterfeiting, as who is going to surgically remove their chip, especially since they will not be able to even buy food without having it scanned at the local market? And with the talk of a cashless society occurring in the very near future, the chilling nature of your analysis gets even more profound.

You’re a very wise lady, Meira. Love reading your posts, even if posts like that last one make me want to jump in front of a train, LOL!!!

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on February 12, 2014 at 1:21 pm

Some interesting videos on YOUTUBE about that cloth with the Islamic oath wore by fundamentalist islamics being the mark of the beast…actually SCARY!

One video is called “666 Explained” and another is :

ISLAM now giving men the Mark of the Beast..

Just other ways of looking at this 666 thing…..

It is just ME AGAIN on February 12, 2014 at 8:12 pm

Thanks, Alfredo, don’t jump! Even Rambam said that ordinary Christians are not idolators because they don’t distinguish between Hashem and Hesus. In your minds, you are not worshipping multiple gods. But he did have warnings for us and we cannot pray together among other things. Which, [aside to skzion: what’s your take on him saying we can pray in mosques?]
Have faith in the God of Israel. You have, from reading your post on the Obamanation thread, a Jewish neshama. I don’t believe that heretics lose that automatically but you are at risk.

You already have a national i.d., called a Social security no. even if they put on the card that it is not to be i.d. Whom are they kidding? When I would apply for jobs, they’d ask for i.d. most wanted my SS card but I gave my passport which was also valid. Virtually every other country in the world uses one. We have them in Israel and your point about a Gobal i.d. is a good one. I have to admit to reading all the LaHaye novels about the End of Days. Can’t remember the series name. There was one interesting episode near the end. It was something I wondered about. If there is a true “mark of the beast,” what’s to stop modern medicine from sticking a sedative in everyone and giving them something like a chip and that’s what happened in the book but because the person had true faith, the mark was invalid.
There is nothing like this that I know of in Jewish prophecy or extra-canonical writings. I seriously doubt it is something as specific as a physical mark but rather a spiritual shift. I see Orthodox Jews being lured into all sorts of “avodah zara” which is witchcraft in the purest sense of the word. They don’t know it is because of no spiritual discernment. All they have is legalism and until some rabbi tells them “this is avodah zara,” they go and do it. Someone above mentioned the “blood moons”
but we do not have Prophets of God anymore and the ones we had did not mention this phenomenon. Actually Joel does mention “a” blood moon. Even the Talmudists were not “Prophets” in that way. That’s why the Talmud and Canon of TaNaKh are separate. A FB friend was trying to say that we will know when the Blood Moons happen if things that preceded them were actually prophesied. Well, duh, yeaa! You don’t need omens to know that. By then it’s too late.

Meira on February 13, 2014 at 7:22 am

Good article, thanks. I could be wrong, but I think the picture of the woman at the microphone is Judy Garland, not Shirley Temple

Rick G on February 12, 2014 at 10:56 am

Loved watching the Shirley Temple movies when I was a youngster and so what if she was a CFR member or UNICEF supporter. More % of all the foundations/non-profits are shams. Just my 2 cents worth. Certainly not going to cast the first stone on judging Shirley Temple Black! Ease up Deb!

Mary on February 13, 2014 at 11:25 am

She didn’t die from a drug overdose and she wasn’t a lesbian. So her death is already a non-story.

John on February 12, 2014 at 10:56 am

I remember Judy Garland having more of a nose and a more angular face, John. Interesting observation, as stranger things have happened, LOL!!!

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on February 12, 2014 at 11:07 am

Deb, that’s July Garland at the Philly Navy Yard.

F.D.R. in Hell on February 12, 2014 at 12:51 pm

Yes, definitely Judy, before her decline. I was always compared to her so I am sure.

Meira on February 12, 2014 at 1:05 pm

Not July…JUDY. Firelight is hard on the eyes. 👿

F.D.R. in Hell on February 12, 2014 at 12:53 pm

It is Judy Garland, F.D.R.??!??!!! I guess the smile threw me off, makes her face look rounder and hard to see her nose without a side view. Plus, she would be 22 in that picture, and I’m more used to remembering her from the 60’s, when she was well in to the booze and drugs.

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on February 12, 2014 at 1:24 pm

A image of a kind of woman, who is nowhere to be found in Hollywood today. But I was dissapointed to find out in recent months, that she was a member of the CFR. For many know they are a anti-American, anti-Hebrew , anti-Christian, luciferian organization. The very powerful in this country belong. They are at the least “globalists”. Too bad she belonged. Weither she believed in all their goals or not , she was associated. Sad.

William on February 12, 2014 at 3:54 pm

She was just an entertainer. You can’t expect her to be an expert on all of the ins and outs of politics. Most people don’t research fully causes that they espouse. If someone tells them that Unicef helps kids, that is all that they focus in. I am not sure what qualified her to be an ambassador to Africa either. Maybe she was just someone who would listen to orders and appear innocent like when she was a child star.

I find nothing wrong with Honey Boo Boo. She is a cute kid with a big heart and a funny sense of humor. She doesn’t come from the privileged background of Shirley Temple but from the redneck woods of Georgia. She has the same spirit and spunk as Shirley did though.

Shirley Temple movies painted an idealized stylized view of reality. She was larger than life as a child and maybe that is why as an adult, she just seemed to ordinary. Alana, aka Honey Boo Boo, is just a real kid living a real life. She may be in pageants but she realizes that they are just for fun.

bb on February 13, 2014 at 7:34 am

As appears to me, no, . . . not so much did the Shirley Temple movies paint a mere idealized stylized view of reality as they showed an aspect of life with which some—and, you, for one—are not so familiar. And, no, she was not larger than life, but rather, again, was of an upbringing and higher characteristic with which some—and, you, for one—are simply not conversant.

Phillip Galey on February 13, 2014 at 10:16 pm

If I should spy a dime on the sidewalk, I do not curse it and disdain to pick it up, because it’s not a quarter, . . . I don’t find any good reason to debate the good, the bad, and the ugly of Shirley Temple. I think that, if Hollywood’s stars of today were able to display, so to speak, half her decency and inspiration, the nation would be way ahead of where we are now, and headed in a much more promising direction, . . .

Phillip Galey on February 13, 2014 at 10:22 pm

Shirley Temple died? My God, I didn’t even know that she was sick!

Tirley Shemple on February 14, 2014 at 2:40 pm

The second photo down is of Judy Garland and not Shirley Temple. There is no evidence that Shirley Temple hated any group apart from Communists. She did visit Russia. As do US presidents. Shirley Temple was active in the overthrow of Communists in Prague when she was Ambassador. Shirley was a US patriot 100%.
