When I was General Counsel for Ward Connerly’s Michigan Civil Rights Initiative–to end race-, gender-, and ethnicity-based affirmative action in admissions, hiring, and promotions by public institutions–we were met with nasty (and sometimes violent) opposition every step of the way from a group called BAMN. It’s the acronym for “By Any Means Necessary.” You get the point: any means, including violence (it’s taken from a Malcolm X quote). That’s how terrorists work. Well, now, BAMN has turned to kidnapping Black kids and indenturing them into a new kind of slavery: protesting.

BAMN kidnapped Black Detroit teens and took them to Washington, DC for more absurd protests. This was done without parents’ knowledge or permission, and it’s a crime. One mother came home to find her two teen sons had disappeared, and she had no idea what happened to them. Here’s what happened to them . . . .

Asha Clay says her 14- and 15-year-old sons have been spending time with a group called BAMN, which stands for By Any Means Necessary. “All I know is that [BAMN is] a group that protests and they recruit these children around here,” Clay tells Fox 2’s Alexis Wiley.

The group describe itself as a student and youth based organization dedicated to democracy and equality. Clay says her boys faces are in this picture, that appears to have been taken at a protest, posted on a flier promoting another protest for a student who BAMN says was attacked by police. Clay said she was not aware of what was going on until just a few weeks ago.

“I had gone to the grocery store, I got back home and he was gone, and I was told by my younger son that he was picked up by an older white male around 8 o’clock in the evening but he didn’t leave his name or anything,” she explains. She says she’s called police but it’s only getting worse. “It was a little after 12 a.m., and when I went to speak with her she pulled off on me.”

Fox 2 contacted BAMN. A representative tells us that, while they may recruit young people, they require parental permission before they are allowed to get involved. But Detroit Federation of Teachers President Keith Johnson says that isn’t always the case.

Wiley asks Johnson, “You’ve had multiple parents come to you, what have they said to you over the years?” He responds: “Over the years people are saying, ‘How are they accessing my child?’ And, quite frankly, many of these students are looking for guidance. Some of them feel as though they’re outcasts within their own student bodies, so they’re looking for something to hold on to.”

I don’t hold the absentee, single-parent Detroit households blameless. They contribute to this happening. But this is amazing, really. Can you imagine members of a conservative group going into Detroit and kidnapping Black kids to serve as protesters, then refusing to speak with parents wanting to know what happened to their kids, or–worse–attacking the concerned parents?

They’d be in jail for kidnapping, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, transporting minors over state lines, multiple labor law violations, and so on.

But White liberals get away with murder, or, at least in this case, slavery. Funny how a group that claims to be against racism can justify kidnapping Black kids for indentured servitude. When Barack Obama said he was a community organizer, too bad people didn’t realize that this is exactly the kind of stuff community organizers do.
