Pink Under Fire: Absurd Feminists Denounce “Sexist” College Gridiron Locker Room Color

By
Even though I’m a Michigan (Moscow on the Huron) and Wisconsin (Moscow on the Mendota) alumna and a Michigan Wolverines fan, I admire the intellect of Hayden Fry, former Iowa Football Coach. Yes, intellect. Fry was smart enough to use his brains for the benefit of Iowa football brawn and had the visiting team’s locker room at Kinnick Stadium painted pink–said to psychologically vanquish aggression.
But now pink is the new hated color, not by men (unfortunately), but by women who look like men–feminist activists.
You gotta love those feminists who now hate pink. First there was feminist Martha Burk. She , saying it represents retro and the ’50s in the worst way, in a New York Times interview.
Now there is feminist law professor Jill Gaulding, who hates pink for men–not on clothes but on the wall of the men’s locker room at Iowa. She said that “pink represents a reinforcement of a sexist stereotype” that is demeaning. Whatever.
The last time Martha Burk and her feminist lawyer compatriots attacked something in haggish unison–Augusta National Golf Club–it got me a free trip, courtesy of Hootie Johnson, to the Masters to debate Burk (and I got a funny quote about her in Golf Digest’s “Lipouts” and Golf World).
So I’m looking forward to a free, new pink wardrobe (but not locker room), soon. While I’ll be rooting for the Maize and Blue, this weekend, I’ll also be rooting for the pink locker room, since I love most reasonable things the feminists absurdly ridicule.

Debbie,
Loved the line from your linked Detroit Sport News article, “Debbie Schlussel is in her usual attack mode.”
I don’t follow golf as I find it very boring, but I greatly admire Hootie Johnson. Anyone else in his position would have caved in but I loved how he told the nags and politically correct to take a hike.
If I’m not mistaken I think CBS told him if he didn’t invite chicks to the club they were going to quit televising The Masters and he told them to go ahead as he wouldn’t cave. Soon after, CBS backed down.
What a real man! And what a fine, real lady you are, too!

Maybe Gaulding has a wiener?

This looks like female impersonators, again. With real chicks, the most important issue is whether horizontal stripes or vertical stripes make you look fatter.

It seems to me that these women have insinuated themselves into a situation where women weren’t originally involved. Although even if this were about giving a female employee, let’s say, a pink computer because she’s a girl–I wouldn’t be wasting anyone’s time by talking about this to the press if I were them. It would degrade my cause by making the people behind it look really silly.
