So, Now, Protests are “Un-American”? Plus Dogs Get Better Care Than Humans in UK

By Debbie Schlussel

The left always tells us that “protest is very American.”  We heard it throughout their anti-war protests.  We heard it when they opposed the patriot act.  We constantly hear it from them.

Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer:  Free Speech “Un-American”

Except. . . except when they find that those doing the protests are suddenly Americans who are opposed to them and their policies.

I couldn’t stop laughing, this morning, when I read my USA Today and happened on the usually boring, waste-of-time op-ed page and found two fertilized columns of print by Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer, telling us that protests against ObamaCare socialized medicine are “Un-American Attacks” (and that’s just from the headline).  Apparently the shoe hurts when it’s on the other foot.

It’s not just the complete hypocrisy and utter baloney they’re pushing about protest being “un-American.”    It’s that they’re telling us that “Americans have been waiting” for this nationalized healthcare “for nearly a century.”

Really?  That’s news to me.  Because I don’t see mass protests FOR socialized medicine.  (The closest thing I’ve ever seen to that is one rich fat guy (Michael Moore) doing a lying “documentary” (“Sicko”–read my review) that came and went.  The protests I do see are those of middle Americans, regular Joes outraged that we could become like Britain, and our healthcare could be rationed.

Some of their fertilized birdcage liner:

As members of Congress spend time at home during August, they are talking with their constituents about reform. The dialogue between elected representatives and constituents is at the heart of our democracy and plays an integral role in assuring that the legislation we write reflects the genuine needs and concerns of the people we represent. . . . These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.

Health care is complex. It touches every American life. It drives our economy. People must be allowed to learn the facts.

That’s interesting.  They claim they want us to “learn the facts.”  But how can anyone learn the facts when they, themselves–and most members of Congress, haven’t read the bill in its entirety?  How can anyone learn the facts when they’re rushing to ram it through?  And why the rush if they’re truly interested in having people “learn the facts”?  And, if they’re truly interesting in “the facts,” why are they afraid of a healthy debate, of protests by those opposed?

If anyone is not interested in a “dialogue,” it’s Pelosi, Hoyer, and the whole Obama crew who don’t want a healthy debate on this, because they know they’ll lose.  They’re already losing.

But, sadly, we will be the biggest losers if they’re ram-rodding of ObamaCare takes place without this debate, these protests, that they decry.

Squelch the little people.  Yeah, that’s the ticket.  No First Amendment for them.

Read Theodore Dalrymple’s excellent, long piece from Saturday’s Wall Street Journal about how dogs get far better medical care in Britain than humans. Dalrymple is the pen name of British physician Anthony Daniels.

An except:

In the last few years, I have had the opportunity to compare the human and veterinary health services of Great Britain, and on the whole it is better to be a dog.

As a British dog, you get to choose (through an intermediary, I admit) your veterinarian. If you don’t like him, you can pick up your leash and go elsewhere, that very day if necessary. Any vet will see you straight away, there is no delay in such investigations as you may need, and treatment is immediate. There are no waiting lists for dogs, no operations postponed because something more important has come up, no appalling stories of dogs being made to wait for years because other dogs—or hamsters—come first.

The conditions in which you receive your treatment are much more pleasant than British humans have to endure.

Read the rest. Remember, we’ll all be in the doghouse with ObamaCare.

The democrats are marxist tyrants, pure and simple.

Why can’t we have a national televised debate, with just the 2 top senators from each side. Maybe that will settle this, and get some of these unanswered questions taken care of.

Vets provide animals better care? I LOL’d recalling Seinfeld’s Kramer going to the vet for his problem. We really don’t want to resort to vets for human care, but….

These DIMocrats are pathetic. Every day now, since this Health Care Bill was put out for public consumption, I have been emailing my Senators Boxer and Feinstein about this socialization of our health care system. The only reply I received was just one automated form letter saying they received my email and would get back to me. Also, did any of you know that neither of these two lying weasels would schedule a town hall meeting during the August recess?

Additionally, I’m sure that most of you know about how the White House wants you to report any “fishy” comments about the Health Care Bill. You know what I do? Every day I send them three emails about “fishy” websites spreading disinformation about the Health Care Bill and that these people should be investigated. I send them the .gov websites for Senators Boxer and Feinstein. My third email is for the .gov website for the White House. I have received no replys yet. I’m wondering when the Feds (or ACORN) will be knocking on my door.

Since it’s about disinformation, maybe we should email snitch@enemies-list.gov (flag@whitehouse.gove) and mention the web sites Media Matters, HuffPo, Daily Kos and moveon.org. 😀

In my 45 years of requiring fairly regular healthcare, I’ve never considered it rationed and, on asking both of my parents (although how they’re both still alive on such a barbaric system must be nothing less than a miracle), neither have they. We have always received treatment from initial diagnosis to final medication/physical therapy/out patient care/community nurse visits smoothly and speedily. Yes, we do know of people who have complaints about treatment and care, but they are FAR outweighed by the success stories. I have received both private and NHS care and, to be honest, there’s been little or nothing to choose between treatment. The staff have generally been far more sympathetic (and the food’s been better!) under the NHS.

I come from a family of dog lovers – and have always had dogs around me. I assure you that they received EXCEEDINGLY good care since it’s a responsibility of any dog owner. However, they’ve never received superior care to the human members of my family.

Makes me glad I married a veterinarian.

Why should the government worry about providing healthcare, or anything for that matter? Go ahead and tax my paycheck and provide me with healthcare, and while you’re at it tax me for food and provide that as well. As a matter of fact just tax my whole check away and “provide” me with everything, oh wait that’s communism isn’t it?

My son just finished medical school. While in school his part time job was running his dog on campus to keep the pesky geese away. He was allowed to make them fly, but he could not shake the eggs in the nest. That kills the unborn geese and is a federal offense. He thought it ironic as a future doctor that it is a federal offense to give a goose an abortion, but perfectly legal to give a human one.

Debbie, nobody with any common sense or decency wants government directed health care. More importantly, pleeeeze post more Debbie pics, and I don’t just mean another head shot. I feel like I’ve put in my time…

I think our best defense is to get the Conservative equivalent to Obama, and run him or her in 2012

The Democrat Party is a criminal enterprise. Pass it on.

Debbie want to see the hypocrisy of Plastic Pelosi and the far Left? She claims that those protesting are “un-American”. In this video call “Town Hell”, she is heckled by anti-war protesters at 3:30. She then appeases protesters by saying “I appreciate as advocates that you can say that”. Moderator then says, “Ladies and Gentlemen, please let’s not let this dissolve into a shouting match”. Again she says “It’s o.k.”
It looks likes Plastic Pelosi was melting into a puddle of wax as the protesters continued.
Well At 4:55 of this video she acknowledges protesters (Code Pink) and says “We Love It” in referring to the protesters, because it is San Francisco.
Starting at 6:20 The Far Left lady from MoveOn.org says protesters who interrupted the meeting as “those are my people”…. “that’s an important part of the dialouge, they need to have a forum like this, in which they can express their views”…”if it can be connected to a town hall meeting then so be it, the information still gets out there. Some people take it to far, but you know….”

As for the Left saying that these town halls aren’t pre-arranged. Well others from the left dispute this showing. At 6:55, the guy from the Left goes on as “This is another rigged town hall.”, “soft questions”, “this is a rigged thing” CLASSIC!!

Plastic Pelosi is incompetent and foolish. She is the perfect representative of the Left and its followers. Mindless and dangerous. Her uneasy fake smile through this whole Town Hall is so telling.

A few years ago my daughter Jane visited me here in Shreveport, LA.

She brought her dog with her.

During the day, we boarded the dog at local vet’s office.

Cost – $ 12.00. Could you even imagine a “public” vet doing it for that price?

“dogs get far better medical care in Britain than humans. ”

What nonsense, I just stumbled across your hatred filled blog by accident, so was amazed to read this claim.

One thing you fail to mention, your dog only gets to choose, and only gets help if they have money. If you don’t have enough money for the operation, your dog dies.

Human beings in the UK are treated with respect, they aren’t left to die on the street like dogs.
