So, Now, Protests are “Un-American”? Plus Dogs Get Better Care Than Humans in UK
The left always tells us that “protest is very American.” We heard it throughout their anti-war protests. We heard it when they opposed the patriot act. We constantly hear it from them.

Except. . . except when they find that those doing the protests are suddenly Americans who are opposed to them and their policies.
I couldn’t stop laughing, this morning, when I read my USA Today and happened on the usually boring, waste-of-time op-ed page and found two fertilized columns of print by Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer, telling us that protests against ObamaCare socialized medicine are “Un-American Attacks” (and that’s just from the headline). Apparently the shoe hurts when it’s on the other foot.
It’s not just the complete hypocrisy and utter baloney they’re pushing about protest being “un-American.” It’s that they’re telling us that “Americans have been waiting” for this nationalized healthcare “for nearly a century.”
Really? That’s news to me. Because I don’t see mass protests FOR socialized medicine. (The closest thing I’ve ever seen to that is one rich fat guy (Michael Moore) doing a lying “documentary” (“Sicko”–read my review) that came and went. The protests I do see are those of middle Americans, regular Joes outraged that we could become like Britain, and our healthcare could be rationed.

The dialogue between elected representatives and constituents is at the heart of our democracy and plays an integral role in assuring that the legislation we write reflects the genuine needs and concerns of the people we represent. . . . These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.
Health care is complex. It touches every American life. It drives our economy. People must be allowed to learn the facts.
That’s interesting. They claim they want us to “learn the facts.” But how can anyone learn the facts when they, themselves–and most members of Congress, haven’t read the bill in its entirety? How can anyone learn the facts when they’re rushing to ram it through? And why the rush if they’re truly interested in having people “learn the facts”? And, if they’re truly interesting in “the facts,” why are they afraid of a healthy debate, of protests by those opposed?
If anyone is not interested in a “dialogue,” it’s Pelosi, Hoyer, and the whole Obama crew who don’t want a healthy debate on this, because they know they’ll lose. They’re already losing.
But, sadly, we will be the biggest losers if they’re ram-rodding of ObamaCare takes place without this debate, these protests, that they decry.
Squelch the little people. Yeah, that’s the ticket. No First Amendment for them.

In the last few years, I have had the opportunity to compare the human and veterinary health services of Great Britain, and on the whole it is better to be a dog.
As a British dog, you get to choose (through an intermediary, I admit) your veterinarian. If you don’t like him, you can pick up your leash and go elsewhere, that very day if necessary. Any vet will see you straight away, there is no delay in such investigations as you may need, and treatment is immediate. There are no waiting lists for dogs, no operations postponed because something more important has come up, no appalling stories of dogs being made to wait for years because other dogs—or hamsters—come first.
The conditions in which you receive your treatment are much more pleasant than British humans have to endure.
