“Pet Shop Boys” Tell Anti-Israel Creeps Where to Go

By Debbie Schlussel

I’m not ashamed to say that I have a few songs from the ’80s pop duo, “Pet Shop Boys,” on my iPod for working out. (Their rendition of Where The Streets Have No Name (I Can’t Take My Eyes Off You) (2003 – Remaster) has a good, fast pace.) And, now, I’m especially unashamed, as the group tells the crowd of anti-Semitic modern day Nazis where to go and refuses to boycott Israel.

Pet Shop Boys Say No to Anti-Israel, Anti-Semitic Boycott Crowd

British pop duo The Pet Shop Boys is facing pressure in Britain to call off its planned performance in Tel Aviv next Sunday. Pro-Palestinian are planning to protest outside an event the band members will be participating in later this week. “Open your eyes to the ugly reality of apartheid Israel,” reads a poster prepared for the protest, which is being promoted by a pro-Palestinian called Innovative Minds. “Cancel your Tel Aviv concert. Stand with the oppressed.”

Neil Tennant [DS: one of the two “Pet Shop Boys”] said in response to the boycott calls that there was no room to compare between the Israeli government’s policy and apartheid in South Africa. “I don’t agree with this comparison of Israel to apartheid-era South Africa,” Tennant wrote on the group’s official website. “It’s a caricature. Israel has (in my opinion) some crude and cruel policies based on defense; it also has universal suffrage and equality of rights for all its citizens, both Jewish and Arab.

“In apartheid-era South Africa, artists could only play to segregated audiences; in Israel anyone who buys a ticket can attend a concert.”

Right on. Somebody in the music biz actually has a clue. Congrats, Neil Tennant, on knowing the facts, instead of falling for the mindless propaganda.

Show your support for the “Pet Shop Boys” (and this site) by buying their greatest hits (already in my collection) . . .

1. I love the PSB’s (and synthpop in general.)
2. The Pet Shop Boys are getting a lot of flack on their facebook page about this concert.

Neil Tennant probably has a good enough grasp of what Apartheid South Africa really was not to feel absolutely comfortable comparing it to the only democracy with a decent human rights record in the region.
Anyhoo, doesn’t really matter because Muslims are going to go jihad on your ass if you try to get all factual and shit.

migraine boy on June 19, 2013 at 2:23 pm

Support artists like the PSB and Alicia Keys who perform in Israel and say “no” to its enemies.

The modern BDS movement is a continuation of the old Nazi/Arab boycott and they seek the destruction of Israel.

Anti-Semitism remains a real and persistent threat to the Jewish people. Let’s not hand to those who hate them and wish them harm victories they do not deserve.

And kudos to the PSB for standing up to the anti-Semites and Israel haters of our day!

NormanF on June 19, 2013 at 2:25 pm

Couldn’t agree more with this British band and Alicia Keyes as NormanF elaborated in his comment. It’s about goddamn friggin time that those in the entertainment establishment are debunking mythology by the fascists arabs on making up total myths about Israel (don’t get me wrong, I disagree with many of Israel’s political policies, etc., there far from being perfect).

Also, if the pro-Pallywood jerks want to witness and learn apartheid, why don’t they go to Saudia Arabai, Iran, Lebanon, Gaza, West Bank, Egypt, Libya, Jordan, South Africa, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc., ALOT of apartheid policies are implemented in those societies that I pointed out, where minority groups in those nations are either persecuted, discriminated against, have horrible job opportunities, live in poverty or under the poverty level, mediocre education, can’t hold and run for political office, etc. That’s all real apartheid!

“A nation is defined by its borders, language & culture!”

Good for them. They do not not let others do their thinking for them.

Commendable and brave stance by the PSB’s, always liked their stuff, now I have even more reason to give them my business!

Can someone explain what is so bad about an apartheid Israel? Didn’t the Israeli government support apartheid in South Africa? If you don’t support some form of apartheid as a means of racial/cultural/hereditary preservation, then you obviously have to support the current plague that is globalism and multiculturalism.

Celestial Time on June 19, 2013 at 5:52 pm

Happy to oblige, CT. (Though, as I recall, you are no friend of Jews.)

If one opposes multicultural decay, one should not bring in massive carriers of this decay. But if one does, it is not apartheid to enforce the law on all residents. If anything, Israel gives its Muslims all sorts of special rights. The same could not be said for South Africa regarding its blacks.

Of course, I think all Muslims should be immediately expelled from Eretz Israel without a dime of compensation. Make the announcement, give them some time, then start killing. But we are dealing with killer Muslims on Jewish land, and they have earned this treatment.

skzion on June 19, 2013 at 8:06 pm

But that’s kind of my point. If apartheid is such a bad word, and if the carriers of decadence and decay somehow find their way inside the borders of a vastly different(the politically correct way of saying more advanced/superior) culture, then what logical alternative is there aside from apartheid? Borders and lines in the sand have to be drawn, otherwise you end up with exactly what we have in the US with places like Detroit, Baltimore, and many other cities where they implode and try to drag everything else down in the process; you get exactly what Europe is going through right now; and you certainly see why Israel is in a perpetual state of war and anxiety.

Regardless of who’s apartheid is more civil and less oppressive to those who shouldn’t even be citizens of the state, it serves no purpose to pretend that humans, when organized as a society, are able to overcome large canyon-like divisions of race and culture.

For the record, I’m not particularly fond or trusting of Zionists. That has nothing to do with Leftist agendas to bash Israel because of some spooky word called apartheid—which is the main reason why I could possibly support Zionism. And it has nothing to do with Jews.

Celestial Time on June 19, 2013 at 9:35 pm

        @Celestial slime
What you’re doing probably intentionally is confusing immigration issues with Apartheid.
This shows that for you Apartheid really is just a word to throw around until it sticks to an intended target.

Apartheid was the legal and institutionalized marginalization of the 80% majority indigenous population of South Africa.
In Apartheid South Africa it was not unheard of for people to be woken up in the middle of the night by the screams of people being detained and tortured.
People were often advised by the police to ignore these things.
In Apartheid South Africa people were forced to carry identity cards solely on the basis of their race.
They were obliged to become a migrant labour force in a country in which they had no rights.
They could not hold any political positions. They were excluded by the established unions from holding any jobs that required labour.
They were prohibited from forming their own unions.
They were completely excluded from participating in the legal system but not from prosecution by that system.

Europe is in the situation it is in right now because they have perpetuated the ridiculous myth that they can absorb and assimilate people who have no interest in being absorbed and assimilated.
Their immigration idiocy has nothing to do with Apartheid unless you’re the kind of leftist moron you supposedly dislike.

Why don’t you go away and find out what Apartheid means before talking garbage like the Hamas foot rest I’m sure you are?

migraine boy on June 20, 2013 at 3:29 pm

Amazing that you could take up so much space while saying so very little, or just repeating something I already said.

Israel is a Jewish state, a Jewish nation. Yes or no?

Israel might allow a higher degree of the meshing of Muslim and non-Jewish citizens within the borders of Israel than anything South Africa did, but Israel in no way supports a non-Jewish population supplanting and usurping the Jewish control and identity of the state. Yes or no?

Israeli settlements usually trump Palestinian “rights.” Yes or no?

Israel was one of the most staunch supporters of South Africa during its apartheid era. Yes or no?

Celestial Time on June 20, 2013 at 6:42 pm

“For the record, I’m not particularly fond or trusting of Zionists.”

No kidding. You’re a Stormfront type. Yes, I get it. Slim pickings on this site, though.

skzion on June 20, 2013 at 5:26 pm

What exactly would a Stormfront type be? Would that be pretty much in line with saying you are an ADL Abe Foxman type, where any slight to your fragile ego is seen as some kind of hint at hate and genocide?

Celestial Time on June 20, 2013 at 6:23 pm

Szion don’t be taken in by this “Celestial Slime” dope.
She’s not a stormfront type. She’s a Hamas type trying to make a correlation between Zionists and stormfront so she can pretend Israel is an Apartheid state because they don’t support mass Arab immigration into a country they already consider to be Arab in the first place.
Any of the other things I said are therefore completely irrelevant to her idiotic understanding of the situation which she’s also going to blame me for.

          This slime I recognize.

Thanks for the heads up, migraine boy.

Clearly Celestial Slime is an operative, and I see how she is more likely to be a Moooslim.

I don’t think Israel has cruel & crude policies in defense. I disagree with him on that. I only point it out because it seems to be the default fall-back when one is defending Israel. Why do people always say that? (I really don’t know!!)

Maybe it’s me but I have never seen Israel be to “cruel”. And I’m not Jewish (I only point that out because I didn’t understand the conflict before I came privy to hard facts but never in my life have I been hostile to Israel..I have had this almost intrinsic understanding…)

That said, bully for them. Can’t say I am a fan of TPSB. I like “It’s A Sin” and that song they sing with Dusty Springfield. They were just never my cuppa…(I liked Yaz & Erasure!!). BUT I am gonna buy those 2 songs I dig because I like that they will not bow to Fakestinians!

(DS once did a post on “Genesis” regarding workout music and I have never been an avid fan but just lately I have added 2 Genesis songs and one Phil Collins to my iPod and they have made my workout really fun…”Mama”, “Just A Job To Do” and “I Don’t Care Anymore”…Phil Collins (someone I happily ignored in the 80’s…) really can bring it when he rocks out, much to my surprise! 😀 )

Good for Pet Shop Boys Tennant and Lowe. They are the best modern pop-rock songwriting duo ever — yes, even a little better than Lennon-McCartney or Jagger-Richards. Check out their 1993 album, “Very,” and tell me who writes ’em better. Now I’ve got an additional reason to dig them: They stand with Israel against its enemies.

Good show, lads.

I visited Israel once, back in 1970. It was a poor country, primarily because of its necessarily high defense budget, with few consumer goods available in stores. I saw a few Jewish beggars, which appalled me. In Jerusalem, despite the clear-cut scarcity of luxury goods, the shockingly antediluvian American autos which predominated, and terrible restaurants, there were high rise apartment buildings, which were built to provide affordable or free, clean and modern housing for the Arab Muslims. There were hundreds of such units, funded by Israeli taxpayers, whose disposable income was extremely limited. The Israelis, despite constant warfare waged against them by their Arab/Muslim enemies, nevertheless felt compassion toward the impoverished, primitive, antisemitic Arabs, moving them from dirt-floored hovels they shared with goats into modern, clean habitations. Did any Muslim country ever do this for their resident Jews, or for other non-Muslim minorities, for that matter?

Crude and cruel methods? You’ve got to be kidding me. Usually, even the slightest imperfection of a human being is fodder for ridicule here- but suddenly this musical group is ok just because they will play for money in Israel? What exactly is so cruel and crude? I have the answer – the terrorism that Israelis have faced for 70 years is what’s crude and cruel.

Someone – not Jewish – recently sent me an e-mail detailing some of the immense contribution that group of humans known as Jews have made to humanity. Despite the immense wealth of certain other groups, there is no similar contribution.

Can anyone explain why the ignorant, stupid, and/or wicked, wish to destroy the one group that has benefited us the most?

Nir Lieu on June 20, 2013 at 9:18 am

Mohammed wished to destroy the Jews because they rejected his cheap knock off imitation of their religion for the desert vagabond warlord market.
Muhammad understood the power of the one God concept but not much else.
In fact you can still hear them ranting that Mohammed owns the franchise on this concept even today.

The Jews are an embarrassment to cheap knock offs the world over. They always have been.
You’ll see that Jews aren’t really disliked in countries like Japan and China except possibly as a result of Western influence.
    Why?
The Chinese and Japanese do not feel themselves to be cheap knock offs. They’ve had their own thing going on for thousands of years.

For Muslims they are an embarrassment that must be done away with and written out of history at all costs.

Some Jews have realized this and tried to become cheap knock themselves in an effort to escape persecution.
This has simply made them even more hated by cheap knock offs who don’t appreciate the competition.

Loved Pet Shop Boys growing up. that whole New Wave thing ,be it Depeche Mode, New Order, The Smiths, The Cure, would not be the same without them.
Loved their version of You were always on my mind .
It is nice to see celebrities, or anyone actually, stand up for their convictions and for what is right. Rare Indeed.
