I would have to see something more scientific to believe that there could be a cause:effect link. I tend to think that a lot of this stuff comes from laypersons who confuse “radio waves” with “radiation”, and even manufacturer’s warnings don’t mean anything – they just put them there to try to prevent litigation regardless of their validity.

An example of thi si the warning stickers that I used to see on the gas pumps about “do not use cell phones while pumping gas” – it was pure nonsense – cell phones don’t emit sparks or laser beams that could ignite gas, but the perception existed, so they (at least 76 did out here in Cali) put the stickers. I don’t see the stickers anymore, though.

The chances of getting cancer from a portable electronic device are pretty slim! You have just as good a prospect of getting cancer from power lines or from the sun. There are things that can kill you.

Small background radiation from a cell phone wouldn’t be one of them. Any one who asserts otherwise is promoting junk science – and the evidence doesn’t appear strong enough to prove that a direct connection exists.

In my case, every time a part of my body gets inflamed, my overactive immune system is the culprit! It keeps me healthy but does the job at times too well – it destroyed my hearing and left me too photosensitive to bright sunlight. I don’t care for systemic lupus and the feeling of tiredness it leaves me with but I’ll still take it over cancer.

There are no scientific studies!!!!! This is a ridiculous article. There is absolutely no evidence that there is a correlation between sticking a cellphone in your bra and cancer.

What is this, another medical report from Dr. Jenny McCarthy? What next, a report that Monsanto is making killer tomatoes that cause cancer??? That potatoes cause homosexuality?

The mother says, “Cancer at 21 is almost unheard of.” Really???? Ever hear of childhood Leukemia? In fact, a sizable population, including one of my friends, had leukemia in college. Another friend had cancer of the eye.

These cancers sometimes emerge with the increase in hormonal activity, resulting from puberty. Puberty is not the cause, but maybe the spark.

I smell lawsuits!!!!!!!!!

It’s a good idea not to underestimate the risk of getting cancer from the sun. Every credible health site takes this risk seriously.

It is worth noting that although UVB rays weaken during the winter, this is not true of UVA, the rays with the more serious risk. The risk from UVA remains high no matter what the season, and no matter whether the weather is clear, cloudy, rainy or snowy.

There has been research done pointing to the connection between cell phones, the radiation they emit and their linkage to brain cancer/tumors. That’s why they recommend that people limit their usage and use the speaker phone instead of holding it to their ears/heads. These stories are not just coincidences. People need to be aware and mindful of the toxicity in certain products and avoid them as much as possible. Angelina Jolie, was considered a “heroine” for mutilating herself as preventive medicine. It makes a lot more sense to avoid things that can lead to cancer. While we are at it, research also points out that to reduce breast cancer women should use natural/organic deodorants and avoid tight and underwire bras. I wish these women a full recovery from their illness and I hope they will explore alternative medicine as well on their road back to recovery.

Where is the scientific evidence to support these claims? You could put a candy bar in a couple of thousand women’s front hook and a percentage would get cancer. Would people stop eating Nutragious Bars?

Just to be safe, however, a few years ago, I used to keep my cellie cell in my front pocket, close to my package, but just in case, I do not want to get ball cancer, so I stopped doing it. [[[[[[[sigh]]]]]]]]]

I’m a radio frequency engineer. I’ve worked with radio frequency products for over 20 years.
Just like an egg gets cooked in your microwave RF can do damage to your skin over a very long time.
For instance, please do NOT let your children get close to microwave ovens when they are in use. Do not let them watch microwave ovens in use.
Just like that egg gets cooked you can cook your eyes!
Yes, the microwaves are supposed to not leak out of the oven. Well, your car isn’t supposed to break down either, but it sure as hell does doesn’t it.
The less you carry your phone the better. Bare minimum carry your phone in your purse or on a clip on your belt.
The farther away from your skin the better.

Even if there’s no link between storing cell phones in bras and breast cancer, why take a chance. I would never store a cell phone in a bra. Cancer or cancer, it sounds uncomfortable, awkward to get at, and likely to get lost.

You should be careful what professions you slam in an article! I am a breast cancer survivor, had a double mastectomy and reconstruction. I am now a Cocktail waitress at a Hotel and Casino. You should not judge!!!

Research at the Mayo Clinic does not show scientific evidence of cancer from cell phone radio waves.

However, girls, if you think there is a cancer risk then store it in a place in which you do not want to get cancer.

There may be a chance the lithium ion battery may emit low level megajewels that can affect your skin in direct contact. I agree with Debbie its just unbecoming to store anything in a bra. They sell many accessories to carry your cellphone in.

I am 41 yrs old, will finish my last radiation treatment tomorrow for breast cancer, and I used to carry my phone in my bra all the time, will not do that again! I do not have the gene, nor did my mom, grandmas, or older sisters have cancer. I do not drink or smoke, and have done everything according to the books NOT to get cancer. I was 40 when I was diagnosed and had my surgery.

The radio frequencies from cell phones are considered radiation, but are not “gamma” waves like a microwave produces. X-rays were also controversial for decades before enough research had been made to prove that we need to be careful in using them.

The best thing to do for now, as suggested in the article, is to not keep your phone in your bra.
