“Mad Men” Creator/Producer Whines for More Gun Control

By Debbie Schlussel

On Sunday, the sixth season of AMC’s “Mad Men,” one of television’s most acclaimed and buzzed about TV series, debuts. And in the media blitz to promote the new season, the April 11th issue of Rolling Stone (yup, amazingly it’s still around, though less relevant than ever) features “Mad Men” star, Jon Hamm, on the cover, with a feature story inside. In the article, “Mad Men” creator and executive producer, Matthew Weiner (who also wrote for “The Sopranos”), whines that we don’t have more gun control, and tells us that this is somehow part of his show, since the show depicted the John F. Kennedy assassination in a previous season.

“We keep making the same mistakes,” he says. “For instance, you can’t pick a year between 1960 and 1980 and not see it filled with gun violence. And yet no one’s ever done sh*t about it. You’d think gun violence would be affected by the president being shot in the head. You’d think a Marine getting a rifle and shooting 45 people would have done something. But it didn’t.”

Absurd. “Gun violence” is the lingua franca of the gun control crowd. The rest of us know that there is only violence, and then there are guns, which most of us own and use legally and for which more laws won’t stop criminals and violence in which a gun happened to be involved. Was the Kennedy assassination really about gun control? Would gun control have stopped the assassination . . . or would better Secret Service protection?

I already told you about the appearance of Hamm (who needs to practice genital control and wear underwear) and his “Mad Men” co-star John Slattery in New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s pro-gun control “Demand a Plan” video, after the massacre as Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Now, Weiner is adds his two cents.

I don’t need Don Draper/Dick Whitman or the guy that created him to tell me what I should be allowed to own and use to defend myself.

They want to take your guns, while they live in upscale, ritzy areas away from danger and work in heavily guarded (with guns) Hollywood studios.

Well, at least there’s truth in advertising, since they really are “Mad Men.” Not to mention, hypocrites.

I will admit I am a fan of this show. Only started watching last season thou’. And I agree about Jon Hamm and his disgusting genitals. He’s ok but exceedingly overrated in the looks dept. if you ask me.

Do any big-mouth Libtards actually know what the hell they are talking about when it comes to crapping on about pet Libtard issues? It’s so embarrassing. I can clearly tell they are bloviating because it is the cause celebre and NOT because they are really concerned (other than having bigger and more special rights than the average bear). The phoniness puts me off because it is quite palpable.

On one hand I have tuned these phony, know-nothing, Libtard big-noters out but I don’t think that may be so wise because their fake propaganda is winning.

Annoying all around. They are phony-balonies and spread bad information. It sticks because there are so many bloody dummies breathing air in 2013.

Also, President Kennedy was killed with a bolt-action rifle, and not a semi-automatic anything. Unless Hamm intends to ban public ownership of rifles entirely, he is absurd. Also, Mexico has very strong gun control laws. We can see how those laws have deterred the drug cartels. Frankly, if Hamm were actually the anti-violence advocate that he claimed to be, he would never have been involved with the production of “The Sopranos”.

FWIW, I could not see the appeal of “Mad Men.” I couldn’t sit still through five minutes of it.

And thanks, Debbie, for reminding everyone of the hypocrisy of these farking limousine liberals, protected by electrified gates and armed guards who they pay to stand ready to put a bullet in our brains if we trespass on their property or get a little too close to the “stars”, pontificating and passing judgement on we “little people.” They make me farking sick.

“Another Hollywood Fraud who Needs an Ice Cold Drink of STFU.”

Ha-ha. Yes, that’s true, but that cold drink will still need to pass the Bloomberg test for sugar content. I don’t know what I’m going to do when Bloomberg retires. How will I know what I should be eating or drinking without his profound guidance?

Way too many hollywierd politicians making statements. I’ve noticed one of my favorite shows, “Southland”, contains at least one glaring lib poor judgement reference. Me and a friend have lamented pretty much every episode having something really unrealistic. Obviously they have some former cops to advise on the series but lots of poor judgements and squad car philosophers on the show are not really on the right track of reality. Their bubble intrudes upon an otherwise great show.

Here’s my question, if these hollywood half-wits are calling for so-called gun-control, why don’t they start with their security guards, they should tell their security guards to give up their fire-arms, how about these hollywood freaks bring that up instead of attacking gun-owners in this country who basically owns a fire-arm to protect themselves if any low-life POS dares physically attack them and so forth.

Also I can’t help but to notice the gun used as an example lately. Usually people reference the 1911, Glock, or the Beretta 92. I do like the PX4Storm. Just wondering if you’ve made the purchase or if the picture is just used for articles. If you get a chance to check one out, do it. The gun is a beauty. The next generation of innovative design.

To listen to these ignorant dolts, you’d think we have no gun control laws already filling up the judicial system. How effective have they been? We need to be protected from bad PEOPLE, not inanimate objects. In the real world, sh*t happens. Sometimes, there’s nothing you can do about it. Throughout history, more people, about 56,ooo,ooo, have died when we don’t have access to firearms and the state does.

Amazing how many schlubs think all the world problems could be solved if government just did more to manage things, the right way – which is of course their way.
Just look to Detroit if you want to find out where that type of mentality leads you.
Entire cities running themselves into bankruptcy on waves of entitlement.

This is what happens when you start taking sociologists seriously and their mentality creeps not only into education but the media in a self reinforcing death spiral.
Why does this kind of thinking appeal to politicians and Hollywood types?
Because when you spend your life manipulating peoples desires to get them to either buy your product or vote for you, you inevitably start thinking of those people as overgrown children.

Unfortunately the kids are getting stuck with the bill though.

Chicago has some of the toughest gun control laws, and look at what’s happening there. And Mr. Hamm needs to practice “gun control,” what with all the recent articles about his below the belt resemblance to a porn star. And Hollywood telling us about gun control? Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Vin Diesel and many others wouldn’t have CAREERS if it wasn’t for guns and the gratuitous glorification of violence promoted by Hollywood.

I said it on another thread, one of Jesus’ favorite words was ‘hypocrite.’ None more so than the Hollywood bunch. That’s another reason why I haven’t been to the movies in 30 years. I’m not buying their product and supporting their life styles.

Excellent post. And I find Weiner’s comments to be odd not just because of the bad agenda but also the logic. Between 1960 and 1980? Apparently he doesn’t know that time moves on.

For a while back, I was interested in watching MAD MEN because it seem to show a nostalgia of a decade where normal and deviancy were clearly shown. However when I started to read Debbies take and especially the fauning by the liberals, I knew this show was not what it tried to play present itself. Now that I see another bunch of media types trying to use their media star power and connections to tell us that our 2nd Amendment right is something that needs “correcting”. I just can say FU and give them the bird ..!..

Great article, Debbie! Thanks for exposing the truth about these vile, despicable, lying, HYPOCRITICAL ultra left-wing hollywood weasels. Keep up the great work!!

It was Islam that murdered people at Fort Hood. I was offered a job at Fort Hood to start in 2008. As a psychiatrist. I shudder to think of being VERMIN’s colleague and covering his call.

I tire of Liberal vermin.

Once again, we are hit over the head with opinions that are supposed to matter MORE because they are spoken by people who pretend to be other people (ie ACT) for a living. What do Hamm, Penn, Carey,Sarandon, ….et al know… THAT I DON’T? And yes, Rolling Stone….irrelevent and long past its due date.
