MORON: Mark Levin Claims “Al-Qaeda” Attacked Marines in Beirut ’83, Excuses Reagan’s Lack of Response; Um, It’s Hezbollah, Bitch.

By Debbie Schlussel

I’m always amazed at the vast number of morons who think Mark Levin is a genius, when in fact, he’s quite ignorant and proves it time and again. But, then again, they are morons, so I can’t expect them to know better that Levin doesn’t know better. Tonight, on his nationally syndicated radio show, Levin attacked “those who attack Reagan for not going after Al-Qaeda when they bombed our Marines in Beirut.” Just in case you think he meant to say something else, he continued, “We had a lot going on in the world and Reagan didn’t know who they were. We didn’t know where they were or whom to attack.” Levin also mentioned that Al-Qaeda hung from a telephone pole, Colonel William R. “Rich” Higgins and William Buckley, our CIA station chief in Beirut. HUH???? Um, giant clue to Mark Levin: Hezbollah (with help from the P.L.O.) bombed our Marines in Beirut. Hezbollah tortured to death Higgins and Buckley (although Higgins’ remains were hung, there was no telephone pole–as much as Levin likes to embellish to make up for the important facts about which he has zero clue). Here’s a refresher on the Marine barracks bombing for dummies like Mark Levin.

marklevinthumbsuphezbollah4.jpg

Mark Levin Has No Prob w/ Hezbollah . . . ‘Cuz The Bleepin’ Idiot Thinks Al-Qaeda Bombed Our Marines in Beirut

And we knew exactly who did it because Hezbollah claimed credit loud and clear for all of these acts–the bombings in 1983, the torture murder of Buckley in 1985, and the torture murder of Higgins in 1990. We knew exactly where Hezbollah was–in South Lebanon–and its spiritual leader, Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah, was very open and public in delivering the fatwa to bomb both our embassy and the Marine Barracks. And we knew it was Hezbollah when they trampled to death Robert Dean Stethem in 1985, during the Hezbollah hijacking of TWA Flight 847. But Mark Levin kept saying it was Al-Qaeda (which did NOT even exist at the time) because Mark Levin is a glorified ignoramus who pretends to know it all but actually knows very little of anything. He claims to have worked in the Reagan Administration at the time, to boot. But even I–who was in Eighth grade at the time, NOT working in the Reagan Administration–know these facts. He does not because he’s a complete ignoramus.

And, yes, Ronald Reagan knew exactly who did these acts, and he never ever responded to Hezbollah. Instead, he put America’s tail between its legs and pulled out of Lebanon, rewarding Hezbollah for this act. Osama Bin Laden cited this specifically for his evidence that Americans don’t fight back, but just retreat from attack. He was right. But he didn’t count on know-nothing, chicken-hawk partisan idiots like Mark Levin to make ridiculous, fictional excuses for this wimpitude on top of that. Mark Levin is a moron and a fraud for neither recognizing this nor getting it right, but even more so for making excuses using lies, such as that this was “Al-Qaeda” and “we didn’t know who did it . . ., where they were.” We knew all of these things. And here’s a tip, Mark: Al-Qaeda is a Sunni organization. These were Shi’ite Muslims, the dominant group of Muslims by far in Lebanon. If Mark was such a genius (not even close), he’d know this basic stuff. He doesn’t. He’s simply a whining, shrieking ignoramus who’d get slaughtered in a legit debate (I’d smush him like the diseased insect that he is). He’s just a clueless partisan.

And it’s not Levin’s first time . . . or even his first time in a week.

Yesterday, Mark Levin and Allen West (whose defeat I’m beginning to think wasn’t such a bad thing) attacked me for my column against the U.S. military handing out a Bronze Star to an Air Force Chaplain for his Powerpoint presentation on how to properly handle the koran (in World War II, it would’ve been the proper handling of Mein Kampf, and West and Levin would attack me for opposing that, too). Levin and West think the Bronze Star for Islamic sensitivity training is a good thing (more on that in another post) and attacked me for never serving in battle but attacking someone who “served in battle.” Hmmm . . . I don’t recall that Mark Levin served in battle. And there are others, like John Allen Muhammad, who did serve in battle. I’m not allowed to attack people like Muhammad or Asan Akbar or Noureddine Malki or Hassan Abujihaad, all of whom served America on the battlefield (and then committed jihad against Americans)? Or Nidal Malik Hasan, who served, while I (and Mark Levin) did not? Absurd. Did this stop them from attacking John Kerry, who served in battle? Is he off-limits, too? Did they attack the Swift-Boaters? Ridiculous. These people–Levin and West are hypocrites. I have much more to say about this and I will in a separate post.

Then, there are Levin’s excuses for Fred Thompson when he was running for President and hired pan-jihadist HAMAS CAIR supporter and illegal alien enabler Spencer Abraham to run his campaign–yup, the same Spencer Abraham that sent $86 million of US tax money straight to Hezbollah and sought $200 million more for the terrorist group. Levin dismissed all of Abraham’s jihadist-enabling legislation and activity (including open support for Arafat’s homicide bombings at coffee and pizza shops and Passover dinners), saying it was okay because Thompson “needs Spencer Abraham to win Michigan” (which is BS, since Abraham couldn’t even win re-election in Michigan and was hated here; but apparently to Levin, principle is thrown to the wind when winning is the goal). When I brought this up on my site, Levin attacked me non-stop for attacking him, but never owned up to the facts, which are that he excuses Hezbollah support and enabling when “conservatives” are involved. When readers of mine who are listeners of his asked him on his Facebook page whether he actually said what I reported that he said–and he did say it–he attacked them, too, and erased their questions, because the answer is YES. And his position was then–as it is now–indefensible . . . for anyone who purports to care about America’s national security.

So, you decide if you wanna continue listening blindly to this moron who claims to have worked in the Reagan Administration and yet doesn’t know what Hezbollah is or why it’s bad and doesn’t know who murdered so many Americans in Lebanon. He thinks it’s Al-Qaeda and makes excuses for Ronald Reagan’s wimpitude in response.

I guess I should not be surprised at Mark Levin’s utter ignorance (and I’m not–I’ve never thought he was informed; just his ignorant lapdog followers do because they are dumber than he is). After all, he is Best Friends Forever with Sean Hannity who gushed in agreement, ad nauseam, when one of his listeners phoned in and praised Bush and the Patriot Act for catching and stopping the Millennium Bomber from blowing up Los Angeles International Airport. Um, there’s kind of a reason he was called the Millennium Bomber: he was caught planning to blow up LAX on New Year’s Eve just before the start of the year 2000, unless there’s another Millennium you or I don’t know about that happened after 9/11. You know who was President when the Millennium Bomber was caught? Bill Clinton. You know what wasn’t law yet? The Patriot Act. Ahmed Ressam, the Millennium Bomber, was caught by a sharp female Customs Inspector at the U.S.-Canada border, NOT because of the Patriot Act. I support the Patriot Act, but I don’t make up fiction to back up my case. I know better. These people are just clueless. Must be something in the Levin-Vannity mancrush saliva.

And, sadly, this is from whom half of America gets its information. It’s hilarious that Mark Levin and Sean Hannity refer to Levin as “The Great One.” More like The Moronic One.

Mark Levin doesn’t know what he’s talking about. And if you listen to him, NEITHER. DO. YOU.

Debbie I wish I could make you a nice, hot cup of tea. I’d bring you some Kosher chocolate rugelach too. But worry not Debbie. When they turn off your heat and electricity you can always stay with me and H. I have a spare bedroom, plenty of Judaica and other top secret stuff you’ll appreciate. BTW my pretty, petite, never married Jewish ex galpal (who was in Madison when you were) I still talk to has a friend who made a classic, nasty anti-Semitic comment on fb. I politely pointed it out to both of them privately and she went apeshit telling me how great he is and that he’s in the ACLU and blah blah blah. I told her plenty of cultured people with Jewish friends were major Nazis, like Eichmann. She is still pissed at me, but luckily she doesn’t have a radio show.

Mark Levin is on a par with Sean Hannity. He is a conservative talk show host that is safely skipped on a radio dial. Mr. Levin is only a step up from MIchael Savage in terms of quality and content, if that.

Good job schooling that ignoramus, Levin, Debbie.

DS_ROCKS! on March 14, 2013 at 12:07 am

What it tells us is most conservatives are blind partisans with zero principles, who make things up and couldn’t be bothered to brush up on history.

There is plenty of truth in this when conservatives embrace frauds like Mark Levin and Sean Hannity. This doesn’t excuse the Left. But it explains why Americans increasingly find the Right to be shrill, hypocritical and stupid.

If you don’t know Hezbollah is the enemy of America you have no business excusing America’s lack of response to it. It can be argued Sunni Islamic terrorists picked up their strategy and tactics from the Shiite Hezbollah. Ssme diff in that they both want to kill us.

Levin’s arrogance tells why the conservative movement in this country shouldn’t be taken seriously by any thinking person. I always thought America came first. You’ll have to ask Levin why he doesn’t take that position.

NormanF on March 14, 2013 at 12:09 am

Not to excuse him, but the only thing that can be used to exonerate Reagan’s lack of action was that at the time, the Soviets were solidly behind Syria, which at the time was behind Amal, which later merged to Hizbullah.

I don’t recall whether Syria had yet started supporting Hizbullah. At the time, Syria backed Harkat e Amal, while Iran backed Hizbullah. Of course, Syria had always been an ally of Iran since the Islamic revolution in the latter.

Memo to Mark Levin: Get of the tubes, you big dope!!!

Infidel on March 14, 2013 at 1:35 am

Mark Levin, like his buddy, Sean Hannity, is merely a cheerleader for the Republican Party establishment. He likes to present himself as a person of principles, when he, in fact, has none. Everything he says pretty much distills down to: “Republicans good, Democrats bad.” And he repeats that mantra even under circumstances when there really isn’t all that much difference between the parties.

As for Levin’s attack regarding the recent story on this website exposing the Government’s award of a Bronze Star to Lt. Col. Jon Trainer for Islamopandering, I don’t know enough about the details about Levin’s reasons, but from what I know of his simplistic, one track, robotic mind, I suspect that he did so in response to his related mantra: “US Military good; US Military never does wrong thing.” Because Levin is locked into that kind of mindlessness, he’s probably incapable of recognizing that the Islamopandering is not, unfortunately, just a Democrat or Leftist thing, but is a problem on the Republican or Rightest side as well. In many ways, for example, George W. Bush did more to advance the cause of Islamopandering than Bill Clinton did or tried to do.

But Levin cannot discern such truths because he’s locked into his mantra, and that broken record isn’t going to change. So to expect Levin to understand history or have an appreciation for facts is simply asking too much of him, let alone grasping subtleties of reasoning.

Although I’m aware that Levin had originally trained to be a lawyer, I’m certain that he merely memorized enough to pass the bar. But he obviously could never be a functioning lawyer in real life because at some point he would be called upon to make well reasoned arguments and to support them with facts and the appropriate applications of the law. That’s simply too much to ask of him. If it doesn’t follow his simplistic mantra, it just doesn’t register or compute as far as he’s concerned.

Ralph Adamo on March 14, 2013 at 3:34 am

The really funny thing is that if Al Qaeda did exist at that time they would have been our allies. We were supplying those in Afghanistan, where Bin Laden was at the time, in their fight against the Soviet Union.

Moron is quite appropriate for Levin.

I_AM_ME on March 14, 2013 at 7:54 am

Levin likes Vannity & covered for him on his ConcertScam fraud. I gave up on him after that.

When I re-tweeted DS’ tweet on Levin & Col West, someone tweeted Mark Levin was a “National Treasure”. I am sure she did not know about ConcertScam, but she prolly still watches Vannity. In 2013 if you do that you’re a dope.

Facts matter. DS showed ML has his facts messed up. It’s up to the independent thinker to understand what that means and move on properly and accordingly.

Skunky on March 14, 2013 at 8:43 am

Levin is a lazy man who does not really look into things. He makes a nice living off of having opinions, even though they are often ill-informed. Levin is not even bothered much by the mainstream media, since he lacks any reputation to besmirch. The Left has no problem with such a man babbling on the radio.

Italkit on March 14, 2013 at 9:40 am

Well, I don’t know about lawyers making well-reasoned arguments. We just read a few posts here about lawyers like Frederick Cohn.

And Reagan in Syria? I do think there could have been responses to Hezbollah that would have defended our interests short of war with the Soviet Union (sic). We didn’t even have all out war with the Soviet Union, or China for that matter, in Vietnam. Although it is easy to think of the Vietnam fiasco’s influence in 1983. It was only eight years earlier.

And talk show hosts or hostettes? All you need is glibness and a big mouth. But the rank and file are not free of blame either. They are letting these clowns get away with submerging virtually every issue of importance to this country, and they let Romney, and before him, McCain, and before him…..get away from doing that in their campaigns.

And whatever Levin’s faults, he is the one the spotlight is shining on now. He and his cohorts are the ones standing up for the Republican establishment in the face of the rank-and-file, in spite of his temporary attacks on Boehner, meant to mask his own opportunism.

Re West, I guess he smells the $$$$$$s. I guess once you are exposed to the ‘glamour’ of Congress, it is hard to maintain an adequate standard of living on a meager Lt. Col. pension. And unfortunately, there is a long history, recently updated, of ‘conservatives’ accepting money from lobbyists of one kind or another. And those are the ones we know about. Who knows what financial temptations the questionably-named West has been exposed to.

Although it is pessimistic, this is an outstanding post, and Debbie deserves a great deal of credit for not succumbing to the opportunism that seems to have affected almost everyone else.

Little Al on March 14, 2013 at 9:40 am

A1 says: “Debbie deserves a great deal of credit for not succumbing to the opportunism that seems to have affected almost everyone else.” I’ll second that.

As for Frederick Cohn, Esq. and my comment that lawyers are called upon to make well reasoned arguments–of course, I did not mean to imply that all practicing lawyers are necessarily doing that. There’s an old saying amongst lawyers, “When you have the facts on your side, argue the facts; when you have the law on your side, argue the law; but when you have neither, blow smoke.” When you’re in the business of representing clients like those that Cohn represents, you undoubtedly will need to follow the last third of that lawyers’ aphorism a lot of the time.

Ralph Adamo on March 14, 2013 at 12:47 pm

That’s exactly it, LA. It’s what I was saying about West during the primaries. He was a freshman congressman and maybe still had his ideals but to survive that world, you learn to compromise you beliefs pretty fast or you become ineffectual and then you’re out. If you compromise long enough and stay in long enough, you become corrupt. Politics is a dirty business. It is not this shiny, pure thing we were taught the Declaration of Independence claims.

And that was giving West the benefit of the doubt. I was never convinced of his sincerity from watching him on video.

Italkit on March 15, 2013 at 4:49 am

Debbie, You’re correct on what you said. I am disappointed in Levin & Hannity about the Bronze Star which is supposed to be awarded for Valor in COMBAT. However, in Reagan’s defense, he wanted to bomb the Bekaa valley where Hezbollah was camped, but was outvoted by his staff, especially Casper Weinberger. Later in Reagan’s memoirs, he regretted that decision to listen to his staff. Here’s an excerpt from Wikipedia:
“In retaliation for the attacks, France launched an airstrike in the Bekaa Valley against alleged Islamic Revolutionary Guards positions. President Reagan assembled his national security team and planned to target the Sheik Abdullah barracks in Baalbek, Lebanon, which housed Iranian Revolutionary Guards believed to be training Hezbollah militants.[21] A joint American-French air assault on the camp where the bombing was planned was also approved by Reagan and Mitterrand. Defense Secretary Weinberger lobbied successfully against the mission, because at the time it was not certain that Iran was behind the attack.”
Further to support Reagan’s regret, he bombed Quaddafi in 1986 against all other advice. The only country that supported him was the UK. Remember, our planes had to fly 3,000 miles AROUND France. They refused to let our planes fly over their airspace.

U: The President can never be outvoted by his staff on what military actions he will take. He is the Commander in Chief. Please stop making excuses for Reagan’s NON-response to Hezbollah’s murder of our Marines and U.S. Embassy officials. There is no excuse. This was his decision. We don’t say that Obama is “outvoted” by his staff. We correctly blame him for the policies of his administration. He’s the boss, and he alone calls the shots. Nobody else. Same went for Reagan. Also, please do NOT use Wikipedia as a source for anything. Highly unreliable. DS

unholyone on March 14, 2013 at 9:46 am

Debbie, Not to split hairs but Reagan “regretted his decision” in that it is obvious it was his decision which is why he regretted it. I used the word “outvoted” to mean as he, you and I know figuratively to mean he went with his advisors’ advice. This was not an excuse, it was an apology for his non-action! He further, as stated above, took actions aagainst Quaddafi in spite of stiff opposition by his staff. Everyone makes mistakes, or listens to “experts” and regrets it later.

U: Where is the evidence that Reagan “regretted his decision,” as you claim? This isn’t one of those “everyone makes mistakes” minor mistakes. This was a major error. And even though President Reagan was one of the greatest Presidents of contemporary America, this was one of his biggest screw-ups, not responding to those who murdered our Marines, blew up our Embassy, and tortured to death several others who were serving America. You don’t let this stuff go unanswered. Reagan did. DS

After the incident of October 23, 1983, I remember over a period of time telling people this made me certain some day an Islamic attack was going to come to U.S. soil. As usual, friends, relatives, co-workers, the very few of them I had the courage to tell, all rolled their eyes or marginalized me in some way. My point was that this incident failed to elicit what I termed “a proper response” from America. I had never heard of an America where even one Marine’s death would not be answered, let alone well over 200, in a sneak attack during their sleep, no less. It was and still is, a profound moment in American history for me.

Through the years, as one incident after another piled up I reiterated this a few times, and after October 12, 2000 (The U.S.S. Cole bombing), again I told a very few people the next attack would be on our soil and within a period of about a year. Again, no credit and marginalized as I usually am, by people much more learned and well read than I.

Although I have a high IQ, I fumbled my years at Stuyvesant H.S., and left with a GED. I also never made anything of myself financially and today am a near penniless old coot, extremely healthy and fit, but with mountains of debt, both personal and public. Is it any wonder people have no regard for my premonitions?

I said back in 1977, shortly after the death of my favorite singer Elvis Presley, that his life and death were metaphorical for what would happen to America if we weren’t careful. Rose from nothing, meteoric path to incredible wealth and supremacy, but that we would be taken down by hedonism, decadence and immorality just as he was, if we weren’t careful. We haven’t been, and I’m afraid that we are standing on the precipice of the end of America, and the world will soon enter the period known in the Bible as The Great Tribulation.

I’m not waiting for the next Ronald Reagan, but rather The Second Coming of Jesus Christ, or in deference to Debbie’s own beliefs, The Coming of Messiah. I think the incredible cross purposes of those in the conservative “movement” continually noted by Debbie are evidence of Christ pointing out that God is not the author of confusion. Well now, Satan certainly does have the entire human race chasing it’s tail, doesn’t he? When even the most prominent and seemingly proficient of our leaders are exhibiting the hypocrisy that Debbie continually points out, is there really any hope for an American Renaissance?

The Great Tribulation will make the period of Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Tojo and WWII look like a badly done dress rehearsal, a horrible time. Thankfully, the Bible says God will “wipe away every tear” when He comes, and I truly believe that.

As for Debbie, since “discovering” you when that sports web site linked one of your articles last December, I have come to admire and respect you tremendously, especially your straight talk. As for those who cringe at your total bluntness with regard to folks like Levin and Rush, I must mention the ancient kings of Israel noted in the Bible. They didn’t want totally straight talk either, and surrounded themselves with “prophets” who regaled them with smooth and soothing words. Then they would call for a true prophet of God and he would give them the straight talk, which they often failed to heed, at least totally.

Debbie gives us the straightest talk one could imagine, and although I do listen to Mark and Rush, Debbie’s voice has come to be a powerful and badly needed one for me, and I believe for America. It’s too bad the straightest talkers don’t have the audience that some others do. I have come to admire and respect you greatly, Debbie. I know the brave and the blunt must do their work, but I hope you don’t mind my saying I worry about your personal safety, and pray for you constantly. God bless you, and don’t stop being Brave and Blunt Debbie.

Differences of Messianic beliefs aside, I wonder if Jews agree with Christians the Satan is the God of this age?

Dale Zalaoras on March 14, 2013 at 3:55 pm

ABSOLUTELY NOT, Dale. To call hasatan a god would be idolatry. Read Job 1, it clearly states that hasatan is under the WILL of God and must obey. The Jewish belief is that God alone is all powerful and contrary to Christian belief He is the director of evil which He uses for his purposes. He sent an evil spirit to Ehud, in the Book of Judges. In Torah, he used a false and evil prophet, Bilaam to bless the Jewish people.

Kabbalah believes in angels and demons but sometimes their roles are blurred. They are SERVANTS of God and he uses each according to HIS will. They have none of their own. There is no “army of fallen angels” led by hasatan.

Seems to me that most or all talk show types, radio and TV, are little more than entertainment and soap sellers for the herds. Once in a while a useful piece of information comes along, but I don’t hold my breath for such. Infinite possibilities with modern technological communication and we get little but the zombie mantra. Too bad about Allen West. I thought he was a keeper. Oh, well.

This is one of Debbie’s best articles by far. A terrific takedown of a pompous and ill-informed blowhard whose grasp of Middle East affairs would embarrass even Rush Limbaugh.

Even if Levin were well-informed, I can’t see any rhyme or reason for his large radio audience. His delivery is so filled with long, pregnant pauses that it renders the show unlistenable. I can’t count the number of times I’ve tuned in and heard dead air time because he was in the midst of some Profound and Enraged Silence. I don’t even bother listening anymore.

The Marines in Beirut were set to fail from the beginning.
Our government had no clear plan on what to do or how to do it.

A good friend of mine was a Marine stationed in Beirut, he was transferred out prior to the barracks attack or he might be dead now.
On his regular patrol his company would regularly come under fire from the same building.
His team was only allowed to carry M16s and only a small amount of ammo. The building that the enemy was shooting from was using larger weapons and was able to hit my friend’s team.
After being denied more firepower several times my friend and some other broke into the armory and “borrowed” the appropriate weaponry for the situation.
On the next patrol when they came under fire, they leveled the building.

This was typical of the whole operation. Our guys had both hands tied behind their backs all the time.
Give Marines the equipment and clear orders and only one thing ever happens, victory.
Either fight to win or don’t bother showing up at all.
Our government shoulders more blame than the terrorists for the barracks attack in Beirut.

SG: Exactly. This was a major misstep by Reagan, and I’m tired of hearing blind, foolish conservatives defend what happened there and make up stories as Levin did. Reagan was not the toughie against Muslims that some would like to believe. The whole reason the Marines were there in the first place was to protect Palestinians against Christian Lebanese and the Israelis. We had no biz being there in the first place. We shoulda let Israel and the Lebanese Forces finish the job and clean the place out. Instead our Marines were murdered. DS

steve g on March 14, 2013 at 2:12 pm

Not to defend Reagan, but Muslims weren’t among his priorities AT ALL. His priorities were Communists, and he was brilliant in handling them. However, to extrapolate that he would have been as great against Muslims belies their record.

In Afghanistan, it was he who led the policy to support the Mujahideen and Pakistan. Amongst his closest allies at the time were the usual suspects – the Gulf sheikhdoms, and new addition – Anwar Sadat’s & Hosni Mubarak’s Egypt, and Gaafar Nimeiri’s Sudan, which at the time was rapidly Islamizing. The Saudis had the same Islamic theocracy then that they have now, Sadat and Nimeiri were playing footsie w/ Jihadis in their countries until one got assassinated, and the other ousted. So sorry, but brilliant as Reagan was about the Communists, he was MIA as far as the Muslims go.

The only thing that can be said in his defense is that at the time, the Communists as a priority totally overshadowed the Muslims.

Bam! Debbie hits it out of the park for a home run! Out of all the conservatives who support (or pretends to support) Israel and talks about the general issue involving the US Marines’ presence in Beirut and the 1983 attack against the US Marines there by Hezbollah, the only one–at least in the US conservative media– that I’m aware of who has explained the origins of the US Marines in Beirut and what should have happened instead is Debbie. All the others avoid mentioning this issue. This is yet another example of why Debbie is the best.

My dear Dad use to be a big Ronald Reagan supporter and for 2 reasons he looked down upon him till the day my dad died. Those two reasons are that he did nothing about the Marines in Lebanon and the other reason he found it disrespectful that in Ronald Reagan’s autobiography he referred to his parents by their first names.
