Homeland Security’s Tragic 10th Anniversary: US Less Safe Than Before DHS – EXCLUSIVE Details Jihadists Know

By Debbie Schlussel

Friday marked the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the aimless, bloated, dangerous Department of Homeland Security. On Friday, Barack Obama celebrated. And, today, Politico tells us about its DHS 10th anniversary breakfast event, starring three of the most incompetent people in the history of American national security: Janet Napolitano, Michael Chertoff a/k/a “Mr. Burns,” and Tom Ridge. But the creation of Homeland Security is a tragedy, not something to celebrate. In the wrong reaction to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Joe Lieberman, with the eager help of his pal John McCain and George W. Bush, created a multi-billion dollar boondoggle bureaucracy of an agency, and Homeland Security has been and remains an ever-growing disastrous monster. And, yet, the primary agency charged with the investigation and stopping of terrorism is not even in the Department of Homeland Security. It’s the FBI.

As I’ve repeatedly noted on this site, to create Homeland Security, the U.S. government dismantled and destroyed two agencies, one of which had an excellent track record, and the other of which did okay stuff, immigration, which is now being done horrendously by Homeland Security (or, rather, hardly being done at all). The U.S. Customs Service, which had a terrific Office of Investigations–the Customs agents who investigated HAMAS and Hezbollah terrorism money-laundering and stopped a good deal of it through Operation Greenquest–was dismantled. The Customs agents and their colleagues in the U.S. Secret Service who carried on Greenquest lost their authority to investigate and stop anything having to do with Islamic terrorism. Bush’s then-Secretary of Homeland Security signed a memorandum of understanding giving the FBI the primary investigative authority on all terrorism cases. And did the FBI pick up where Customs and Secret Service agents left off? Nope. Operation Greenquest was ended. The Customs raids on Muslim halal poultry farms and other money-laundering organizations tied to Al-Qaeda were not pursued any further.

And in the ten years since, the FBI has stopped few Islamic terrorism money-laundering operations. The agency has done a lot of show raids for publicity, but the raided organizations, like the Detroit area’s LIFE for Relief and Development (Al-Qaeda and HAMAS – $20 million plus per year) and Al-Mabarat Charitable Organization (Hezbollah – $1 million plus per year) remain open for business and continue their non-stop one-way Islamic Western Union-style cash flow to overseas parties detrimental to America and Western interests.

And along with the U.S. Customs Service, the Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS) was disbanded. Yes, I know what you’re gonna say: that the INS screwed up in hiring a contractor which approved the visa renewal applications of some of the 9/11 hijackers after they all died in the 9/11 attacks. A major screw-up, no doubt. But an even bigger screw-up is to put people whose life experience is Customs investigations into the immigration enforcement biz and to shunt many of the good, experienced immigration enforcement guys off to the side. That’s what happened with the creation of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)–Homeland Security’s largest sub-agency–out of the former U.S. Customs Service and INS. And since the agency is now not doing much of any immigration enforcement at all, it’s now an aimless agency involved in investigating child porn and online child enticement, something done by other agencies and even your local sheriff’s department. Gee, I wonder why ICE has among the lowest morale levels of any government agency. Good agents have been leaving in droves, since it was created, and the exodus continues. The good agents who remain are persecuted and bullied by the feces that has, for the most part, risen to the top. The few good agents who are in any leadership positions can’t do much good because they are hamstrung by the idiotic government lawyers who continue to be appointed to run the agency.

And then there is Customs and Border Protection, where a good deal of the Customs and Immigration inspectors from the former US Customs Service and INS went. Again, we are less safe than before. The push in that agency hasn’t been Americans’ safety and keeping bad eggs out of the country. Remember, about half of the illegal aliens in our midst are here because they overstayed visas or came into the U.S. legally and never left. Customs and Border Protection agents are the first defense against that. Or used to be.

But CBP’s main objective is protecting and promoting minorities, women, and Muslim Arabs. That’s why, for example, at Detroit Metro Airport, the woman who was the third in command and the head of the airport during many shifts, Fadia Odeh, a Palestinian Muslim, made a rapid rise through CBP, even though she failed many of the tests required to become a CBP agent. And, at the time she joined the agency, her husband was an illegal alien Muslim and one of her immediate family members was and, to date, remains a major drug dealer between Chicago and Miami, inside sources say.

Although sources say she is now under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of the Inspector General, Ms. Odeh has been promoted to the Chief of Staff for Customs and Border Protection in Detroit, so she is now the third or fourth in command for CBP for the entire State of Michigan and has top secret security clearance for all sorts of intelligence information on Michigan’s international ports, bridges, and tunnels. Alhamdillullah [praise allah!]. Instead of relieving her of her duties, though, her boss, Islamo-pandering fraud Christopher Perry, District Field Officer for CBP, not only promoted her, but he assigned a CBP officer specifically to investigate who gave DebbieSchlussel.com a flier for an event on which Odeh spent CBP money and resources instructing agents to attend a seminar to learn how to be “more sensitive” to Arabs and Muslims. For the last half-year, one by one, only White male CBP officers with U.S. military experience were summoned to an interrogation at Detroit Metro Airport regarding whether or not the person being questioned was my source. Wow, this is how we thank them for their service to this country?

This same CBP in Detroit previously had an airport chief, Daphiney Caganap, who smuggled illegal drugs and illegal aliens into the U.S. after she was paid off. And she got probation. You’d think they would learn and get some decent people in there. But the decent people are the persecuted within this agency.

Keeping America’s borders and ports safe? Think again.

And extremist Muslims, as I’ve reported over the years, have been deliberately affirmative-actioned into top positions of influence and access to vital national security information at the Department of Homeland Security, whether it was under Ridge, Chertoff, or Napolitano.

Don’t forget the TSA. Think you’re more safe with the government running the show? Only if you’re a moron. We know that while White elderly chicks in wheelchairs and White male senior citizens with colostomy bags are felt up as if in a porno flick, weapons and explosive material regularly gets through security in test after test by the media and Homeland Security’s own investigators. At the Kwame Kilpatrick trial, FBI agents showed a video of an undercover agent going through TSA security screening at Detroit Metro airport over a hundred times, while concealing over $10,000 on his body, undetected by agents. He wasn’t stopped once. Nor is Mohammed Baba Ghannouche, who sails through security with his niqab-encrusted multiple wives, despite suspicious behavior and objects on his person. Last week, in Los Angeles, Robert Tencer, an Orthodox Jewish former TSA agent filed a complaint in federal court, noting that instead of letting him do his job, the TSA harassed him mercilessly for being Jewish and for having served in the IDF. Priorities.

And then there is the release of the illegal aliens of late. Since Michael Chertoff’s disastrous reign along with his daughter from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” ICE Princess Julie L. Myers, ICE agents have been ordered not to arrest illegal aliens and detain them, unless they are hardened criminals with a record of violent crimes. Under Chertoff and Myers, though, at least there was the pretense of workplace enforcement of immigration laws, even if the phony raids they did on meat packing plants ended up with illegal aliens rounded up and then released into freedom, or worse–replaced by legalized Muslim alien workers from Somalia. They refused to go after Walmart for insisting to janitorial contractors that they hire only illegals. And then they went after an Orthodox Jew and his kosher meat plant instead.

But, just when you think it can’t get worse, it’s far worse under Janet Napolitano a/k/a “The Lesbionic Woman” and her ICE chief, John Moron Morton, both of whom read this site and repeatedly tell their agents and personnel not to believe what’s on it. As I told you last year, ICE is now a den run by the gay mafia, where straight White male agents are persecuted and harassed, bullied and undermined. And, as you know, J-No immediately ended all workplace raids on illegal aliens, so as not to make them feel bad. Now, as we know, she’s released thousands of illegal aliens into the great American abyss. She and the Obama crowd claim that these are “low risk” aliens of no danger to America. But, as I noted last week, that’s a complete lie because for the last few years, ICE agents have only been allowed to arrest violent criminals with long rap sheets. The rest are allowed to go on their merry way and continue to live the illegal alien life in America, free as a jaybird. No surprise then that Napolitano says her priority at Homeland Security is illegal alien amnesty for 20 million illegal aliens in our midst and instant citizenship for 10-15 million others waiting in line legally. Yup, ‘cuz that’ll make America sooooo much safer and more secure.

Uh-huh, this is what ten years of Homeland Security looks like. And it ain’t pretty. It reminds me of the opposite of those old magazine ads for Virginia Slims cigarettes, which proclaimed, “You’ve come a long way, baby.” Nope, America, you’ve regressed a long way, baby.

Ten years of “Homeland Security” has done nothing but make America less secure. Oh, and wasted gazillions of your money. But, hey, Ridge, Chertoff, and, soon, J-No, can charge top dollar for speaking engagements like the one for Politico.

Cha-ching!

America . . . desperate but NOT serious. Homeland Security is Exhibit A of that.

This is a department whose secretary tells the public she’s unsure what her job is all about and she doesn’t know many illegal aliens are in the country or what they were detained for. Uh huh.

If that’s what Homeland Security is really doing, we’re better off without it. It doesn’t do a thing to keep the country safe – but it makes J-No and her fellow incompetents who run the department look good in the media.

Only in America!

The transformation process continues…
Yes, we got bananas

Watching America do a Bobby Fischer is really beyond belief, and there’s no going back – the more this kind of thing happens the more momentum it builds.

From J-No:

“WASHINGTON — Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano promised to release more illegal immigrants into the United States, saying the budget sequester has left her no choice.

Several hundred detainees have already released because of the sequester, she insisted. They were released on bail, or because their legal status had changed, she said.

“We’re going to continue to do that … for the foreseeable future,” Napolitano said at a March 4 breakfast meeting hosted by Politico. “We are going to manage our way through this by identifying the lowest risk detainees, and putting them into some kind of alternative to release.”

This is what she told Politico. With J-No – who really needs Homeland Security? They might as well put the fox in charge of the henhouse.

Excellent story. The DHS bothered me at a gut-level when it was first created and now serves as a pristine model of the (designed) inefficiency of adding more government layers and intervention.

The gay preference thing is a sad, but inevitable consequence of the Civil Rights Act of 1964—and its creation of a permanent entitlement and victim mentality.

The Department of Homeland Security just bought a couple thousand armored cars. (The media calls them tanks, but they aren’t tanks, but they are bigger and heavier than an armored Humvee.) Try as I might, I would like to guess why they would need that many heavy armored cars for use against terrorists, but I can’t figure out an answer. Something tells me they were bought for one or two other reasons: 1) For use against Americans during civil unrest when the Obama administration gets done crashing our economy. 2) As an excuse to spend money to line the pockets of politicians and top bureaucrats from the kickbacks they would receive. I have nothing against the police having some armored vehicles for anti riot use or in case some fool baracades himself in a building and starts shooting, but maybe something sensible, like maybe a couple dozen per state?

RT on March 4, 2013 at 5:57 pm

they sound like Armored Personnel Carriers, so option #1 would be my guess.

If John Moron Morton reads this site, I’d like to ask that bogan why he can’t seem to get a job in lieu of his cush Gubmint job he 100% sucks at? I swear it was a few years ago that bumbling fool was looking for bigger and better things but that buffoon is STILL ineptly employed by ICE. Guess that frickin’ moron looks forward to the Super Bowl every year where he can illegally shake down t-shirt sellers who don’t understand the “Bill Of Rights” since he has failed to gain employment elsewhere. Who would hire him after his crap record anyway? His resume is alive and breathing unlike most private jobs.

Only a tool like him could have an even bigger tool like the Lesbionic Freak above him. What a comedy of errors (that really isn’t really funny at all).

I wish the Libtards REALLY hated GWB for the reasons stated in the column. That’s a sandwich with actual meat in it. Nope, but he was the devil incarnate for phantasmagorical reasons. They never even touched Dhimmitude or this disaster described in the column. If you don’t know Libtards are mentally ill by now you should just give it up. I’m tired of know-nothing Libtards. The know-nothing Conservatives are who we should try to educate (as annoying as that may be) at this step in the game.

The Libtards who still trust Islam are one thing but many well meaning Conservatives have no clue of how entrenched Islam is in our Gubmint. It’s depressing (both the truth and ignorance).

Anyway, as the Progressive Libtards march on the coalescing of Islam is coming together quite nicely. I think I may have gone off track but thinking about this has made me depressed…

RT How about?…

3) “Recreational” vehicles designed to ensure that none of the terrorists they won’t be deporting come to any harm while going about their business.

4) A Question you’re not supposed/allowed to ask in a banana republic.

5) All of the above…

This is a very odd story

Not to mention all that ammo, with an additional 1.6mm rounds scheduled for purchase. Waz up wid dat?

JeffT on March 4, 2013 at 8:24 pm

Hey, Everyone:

News Flash … NOBODY CARES – not the agents, not the public, not the managers and certainly not the politicians.

Many agents I know are looking for side work, starting their own businesses or headed back to grad school in a field TOTALLY unrelated to law enforcement, national security or the like – they realize this is a lost cause, and are now doing the bare minimum to earn their pay; the commitment to the mission is non-existent.

9/11, Act II is only a matter of time away. We’re screwed, and everyone knows it – the agents are simply working hard NOT to be the ones with the “hot potato” in their hand not if, but WHEN, it all goes bad.

StillShakingMyHead on March 4, 2013 at 7:36 pm

I so miss the never ending pissing that went on between [legacy] INS and US Customs. Border Patrol agents who wouldn’t know a counterfeit I-551 from an N-400. Customs Special Agents with a college degree in Health Education (with 2.4 GPA) who cannot properly use the word ‘witch or which’. Remember the old INS Commissioner who (on live TV) announced a crackdown on “Illegal Aliens from Puerto Rico”. My goodness, we have NEVER done it right. Never!

#1 Vato on March 4, 2013 at 8:29 pm

Vato !!!

Commissioner Gene McNary !!! Hilarity times 20 !!! What an f’in joke, and even 100 times moreso now.

We suck … Just doing my time flying under the radar; less seen, better less heard – the managers or Congress don’t give a rat’s ass what we have to say, anyway.

StillShakingMyHead on March 4, 2013 at 9:16 pm

Right you are! Gene McNary. We have another abomination now as well, I almost forgot about. FDNS…Fraud Detection & National Security. Ten years ago we had file clerks (some good/some useless) who jumped into FDNS. Today they are GS-12/12/14 & 15’s amazingly enough. One of our agents referred to himself as a “cop”. I politely corrected him…….

    #1 Vato on March 4, 2013 at 11:21 pm

This agency never made much sense without counterterrorism assets. We have the statute giving DHS the mandate, but no authorities to go with it. I read one time that there was consideration, when they were planning the agency, to break off FBI’s counterterrorism and counterintelligence functions to form a new agency under DHS (and not combined with Customs/INS). That would have left The FBI with white collar and traditional organized crime and still the moniker of being the premier Federal law enforcement agency. Now, that may have made sense, but cobbling together INS & Customs, giving them no new authorities or assets, all while keeping all of their old missions and labeling it DHS’ investigative arm was stupid.

The FBI is too powerful of a lobby in and of itself to allow it to be broken apart. Instead of getting authority, DHS lost it when FBI took terrorism financing, something uniquely suited to Customs’ experience. Now, an argument could be made that you don’t want the drama of remaking an agency while you are fighting terrorism, but what exactly were they protecting? It’s not like the FBI stopped 9-11.

Debbie, I don’t want to give your readers the wrong idea though about DHS. People are still working hard, some are even working smart, in spite of policies driven from the White House (by both administrations) that often make no sense. We will continue to work hard, but real change can only happen if the administration shifts its approach. Even Napilotano or Morton cannot change that.

Please on March 4, 2013 at 9:30 pm

    @ please

You made some good points in your statement but the bottom line is it’s wishful thinking in it’s most deluded form. You’ll never see the administration of either side change its approach to this unless and until you get the dweebs running it out of office.

Too many political interests at stake here and none of them in the interest of the nation….

IceNoMore on March 5, 2013 at 10:40 am

I agree, it is wishful thinking. My point was we’ll keep doing our best, but it won’t matter. Unless there is real political change by either parties’ approach, we are stuck.

I happen to be an active participant in the cargo security industry… If you know how exposed the US was to the import of illegals, weapons (including WMD’s), drugs and other contraband you wouldn’t be able to sleep…

And what do the authorities (DHS, CBP etc) do?!… Nothing much I’m afraid… They talk about layered security but refuse to do anything about know issues…

Sorry, I can’t go into too much detail (it might give somebody an idea) but though I realize there’s no “magic bullet” in security I do believe that requiring a proper lock on our front door is step # 1!…

Even if said lock isn’t 100% pick proof because the latch currently serving that function has had issues that the industry knows about for decades!…

To me it seems that DHS & CBP are led by the nose by industry players with vested interests… Interests that have everything to do with selling products that don’t fulfill their stated function but which, nevertheless, dominate the market because they’re a few cents (yes, you read that right, just a few cents more and a product that actually does what it’s supposed to do) cheaper!…

Our security is being managed by bureaucrats who know next to nothing about the issues and who’re afraid to set policy (when you’re afraid to make the wrong decision making no decision becomes an attractive option)…

Hans on March 5, 2013 at 6:06 am

Absolutely spot on with this article Debbie. This was a debacle from the start and rotted at a rapid pace to the stinking carcass it is today. The few smart, hard working agents on both sides of the fence got overrun by the pole smoking political hacks and golden boys who had no clue about the mission (yeah, there used to actually be one) who were more interested in building their little empires and stomping anyone who outshone them or threatened them in any way. If you weren’t buying the BS or drinking the Kool Aid you were on the outside.

Agents who worked hard, didn’t take crap, turned outstanding cases, and knew when and how to throw the BS flag ended up having OIG (another worthless agency staffed by losers who couldn’t hack it in the field) investigating them over bogus crap or getting poor annual ratings.

I feel bad for those who are still in, especially those who are above all this but will face nothing but scrutiny and decimation because they won’t sacrifice their integrity or honor.

I think it’s great! I just love listening to interminable discussions about protocol and blame after terrorist attacks!

bruce on March 5, 2013 at 1:56 pm

Thanks to Debbie for keeping the train wreck that is ICE in the media.

The plan was originally to combine the FBI with INS and place those agencies under DHS. Somehow, probably at the FBI’s urging, Customs was merged with INS. The U.S. Customs Service was the older law enforcement agency in the United States. Customs also had higher qualifications for its agents than INS, and had some of the best investigators in the federal government, conducting anti-terrorism cases long before it became in vogue.

The wording of the government bill actually “abolished” INS, while Customs was allowed to continue to exist. To placate INS agents, the standards of ICE were lowered to INS standards and the agency was modeled after INS, albeit with Customs leadership, with Customs leadership going along with the plan, probably for personal enrichment/advancement.

The best thing that government could do now is to get rid of ICE. The legacy INS employees, and employees who did not meet the Customs standard, could be placed under Citizenship and Immigration Services, and the legacy Customs employees, and those employees who meet Customs standards, could be placed under Customs and Border Protection.

King David on March 5, 2013 at 5:33 pm

Gotta tell ya David. CIS is one place where you need to know your law & your production and performance (and bathroom breaks) are monitored. No more blanket O/T. They want to see your G-22 and chart your production. Useless LE agents can be hidden doing meaningless chores, if they are well liked by management. As an Adjudicator, if you do not produce they will phase you out. A lot has changed.

America is now in a much worse position that it was pre 9/11/2001. All protections have been dismantled and the military, homeland security and all levels of Government and even CPAC are infiltrated by Islamists.

No one cares but you, huh? You either off your meds or mixed them with the sauce and having an episode.

Actually Customs OI and OFO had an excellent working relationship, and their job assignments were very clear, Inspectors did inspector work, Agents did agent work, FP&F did fines, penalties and forfeitures. Agents did not do FP&F work, and FP&F did not do Inspector work, get the picture? Bullshit immigration, on the other hand, everyone was doing all sorts of bullshit immigration work. Maybe that’s why some on this blog ignorantly continue to justify ins training, or lack of, because once you learned how to process and release, that’s all you needed, even to get the DD blessing as a “special agent”. You notice that agents could do ERO work but ERO never did agent work as far as criminal investigations, and that’s because NO ONE did criminal investigations.

Hans, your contribution here sheds light on the immediate problem, Supply Chain Security, and the tens of thousands of containers imported into the U.S. on a daily basis, and the threats posed.

The G needs people like you, seasoned professionals, which is what ICE/HSI lacks right now: Law Enforcement PROFESSIONALS, and not just the type that get paid for what they are supposed to be doing but actually have no clue. What they got is law enforcement CLOWNS. Unfortunately a professional, such as yourself, would not survive in the bureaucratic, back stabbing, gossiping, bullshit immigration clerk work culture that is pervasive at HSI/ICE.

I recently retired from HSI due to reaching the mandatory federal LEO retirement age. I was a proud legacy Customs special agent who spent the last 10 years of my career working for an unnecessary agency that was created solely as a knee jerk reaction to the 9/11 attacks. Glad to leave this fiasco behind, but knowing firsthand how fouled up it is leaves me afraid for my country’s future.
