Schlussel in Top 5% of LinkedIn Most Viewed Profiles; Join Me on LinkedIn

By Debbie Schlussel

Recently, LinkedIn notified me that I am among the top 5% most viewed LinkedIn profiles for 2012. See the notice below that LinkedIn e-mailed me. If you’re not in my network (and therefore, I’m not in yours) on LinkedIn, you should change that by sending me a LinkedIn invitation to connect, and I’ll accept (unless you are one of the legions of stalkers, death-threat senders, or Nigerian scammers). Do that by sending the invitation to me at my LinkedIn profile. And thanks for putting me among the top 5% of LinkedIn’s most viewed for last year (which, based on the math, means that I’m in the top 10 million, likely along with you).

Debbie,

Congratulations on your Linked In Top 5%.

Your website needs a new Internet service provider. This website is SLOW, very slow, particularly the reader blogs, which can take a long time to refresh. The slowness is especially surprising considering this website is almost exclusively text, as opposed to a heavy graphic or video-oriented website.

It’s almost torture trying to load your website on a smartphone.

S: Thanks, I do need to fix that, but I think it’s the ads that are slowing it up and I need the ads to pay for the site. Any ideas you can offer, I’m all ears. DS

Debbie, thanks, I sent you such a request, using the ‘Other’ option, and entering your e-mail that you use for being contacted on this site. I’m not on FaceBook or Twitter, but I am there on LinkedIn

But I too got one of those messages, and was surprised, since I hadn’t been doing much in 2012 on LinkedIn.

This is off-topic, but today is the Fast of Esther and I wish anyone who is fasting today an easy one.

Deb–

You could always bite the bullet and make it a subscriber site.

Forgive my ignorance since I’m not a social media guy, but what exactly is LinkedIn?

Of course I’ll join for my darling Debbie if I know what it is.

Jeff_W – LinkedIn is the adult version of Facebook only it’s geared to professional and business related interactions. It is a very useful site (whereas FB is just evil) and of course I sent Debbie an invite to connect notwithstanding my initial message above.

Jeff_W, LinkedIn is a professional networking site. When you open an account, you list all the jobs you held and are holding, and all their details, as well as your educational details, so that there’s a complete profile of you.

Once set up, you get to connect w/ different people, starting w/ colleagues, ex-colleagues & former classmates, and then expanding that to any business associates. Note that the same would be true of them. The real utility is that when looking for a job in a particular company, you can find out if anybody you or your friends know work there. Once you do, you can connect w/ them via those friends, and get out your messages. While job-hunting is a key feature of that, one can also discuss ones professional interests w/ a myriad of people in various groups.

I wouldn’t compare this to Facebook, MySpace or Twitter. I don’t have accounts in any of them, since in my opinion, they just serve narcissist tendencies among people, and can be a major time sink. LinkedIn is nothing like that – if one is not a recruiter, one is not likely to spend hours on that site. A lot of people there are dormant members as well. Also, connecting w/ people on LinkedIn is fast becoming an alternative – if it ain’t already – to exchanging business cards that you’ll lose in your rolodex after the meeting is over.

Mazal tov DS on your big accomplishment. I am by nature a modest young man Debbie, but I will have you know that I have been included in a Who’s Who book of Important Persons. Also Debbie I have well over 100! Facebook friends!! Sure, I was a National Merit Finalist (by a whopping margin), Phi Beta Kappa and, for a time, highly ranked on the Jewish boyfriend chain of being. But the point is Debbie that I have discovered that what really matters is Torah learning, helping people and good health.

Scott, I’ve noticed that too but thought maybe it was just me.
Sorry, I do get angry in my posts sometimes and it’s not always really warranted.

Frankz on February 22, 2013 at 3:34 pm

Debbie, maybe Go-daddy but I know you hate their adds and I don’t know if they’d be an improvement.

You are one of 10 million others that received the same email. Ha ha ha you 5% gullible idiot. You’re a fucking dolt with bad grammar and the spelling errors of a 14 year old’s tumblr. Go listen to 30 seconds to mars while cutting yourself you dildo licking lezzy.
