Angus T. Jones: 3 Cheers for “Two and a Half Men” Star For Calling Out “Filth” – VIDEO

By Debbie Schlussel

Three cheers for “Two and a Half Men” Star Angus T. Jones for calling out the crap he’s been a part of for much of his life as a child television star.

I watch very little TV anymore, mostly because it’s a time waster and a bunch of garbage. More and more Americans are following suit as TV viewership (and ownership) is declining. In adulthood, I finally understood my father’s rightful attacks against TV when I was a kid and he stopped me from mindlessly, endlessly watching, limiting my TV viewing time. I was lucky that unlike so many parents, mine didn’t commit malpractice by using TV as a babysitter.

“Two and a Half Men” is one of the worst shows on broadcast TV. It’s disgusting, heavily sexual, stupid, and inane. And yet it remains, sadly, one of the most successful, highly-rated shows on television. And so I applaud the show’s younger star, Jones, for finally waking up about the filth he (and the rest of Hollywood) are perpetrating on America. Sadly, the damage of decades of TV garbage and defining deviancy and morality down has already taken its irreparable toll on America, and it’s too late.

Still, Jones–who has become a religious Christian–deserves credit and respect for publicly calling himself out for what he’s been a part of for so many years and what is basically is TV family, especially at his young age. It takes a lot of courage because he’ll probably never work in Hollywood again for saying so, and he knows it. Some of the attacks against him for saying this have been worse than some of the attacks on the nutty Charlie Sheen, formerly of the same show.

“Two and a Half Men” star Angus T. Jones is under fire for criticizing the show — even going so far as to call it “filth” — in an online video in which he professes his religious beliefs.

“Jake from ‘Two and a Half Men’ means nothing. He is a nonexistent character,” the 19-year-old actor says of his character on the hit CBS program. “If you watch ‘Two and a Half Men,’ please stop watching ‘Two and a Half Men.’ I’m on ‘Two and a Half Men’ and I don’t want to be on it.”

Jones appears in the video seated next to televangelist Christopher Hudson, whose sermons appear in YouTube videos called “The Forerunner Chronicles.”

“Please stop filling your head with filth, please. . . .” Jones said.

Here’s the full video of his appearance on the Christian Forerunner show:

Part of what Jones is upset about is his interaction with the skanky Miley Cyrus (or as we call her on this site, “Miley Virus”) on the show. Jones plays a U.S. Army soldier who returns home and quickly falls into bed with Cyrus. Here’s the video of this Shakespearian masterpiece:

Yup, utter crap. Jones is doing America a favor by calling this what it is.

curious if he’ll keep the money he’s made from the show?

i can’t stand that show – or ANY sitcom (except for seinfeld) – because the writing and humor just plain sucks. it’s a complete mystery to me how this show can be so popular when i can only watch about 15 seconds of it…

kirche on November 27, 2012 at 12:55 pm

It will be interesting to see what Chuck Lorre has to say about this on one of his snide, arrogant “vanity cards.”

DS_ROCKS! on November 27, 2012 at 1:06 pm

I don’t like the show, and it is filth, but this kid was making $450,000 per EPISODE. He should either give the money away, or have a heaping cup of STFU. He is a hypocrite otherwise.

He is no hero. He is merely biting the hand that made him filthy rich.

JEG: I see it a little differently. He only recently became a religious Christian and saw the light on what he was doing. He’s been on this show since he was a young kid and didn’t know better. He wants to get out of being on the show, and my guess is that they will let him out of his contract ultimately, and he’ll never earn that kind of paycheck again b/c of this. DS

Jonathan E. Grant on November 27, 2012 at 1:09 pm

Debbie, I totally agree with your answer to Jon. I think he worked for the money he’s made so far but if they won’t let him out of his contract, maybe any future earnings should be given away now that he’s seen the truth. Someone in his church should tell him the story about Jacob working for Laban for 14 years. Although the work of shepherding was not filthy, Laban most definitely was and yet Jacob got rich, and made Laban richer.

Italkit on November 27, 2012 at 2:21 pm

Dirtiest show on tv today is 2 broke girls. As for the money.
If he has a contract, well, you know what happens if you break it. Maybe he is trying to get out of it by getting fired.

Billie on November 27, 2012 at 1:33 pm

My mom is 83 and she loves this show. It’s not really supposed to be a model for how to live your life, but if you could see the barn I live in, and the overweight toothless women in this community, you might get why someone might dream of having a beach house in Malibu like Uncle Charlie. The world is full of hazards.

Cheers to Angus T. Jones for finding God. Out here in the working world, sometimes you have to look the other way if you plan to keep your day job, make your monthly payments, and max out your 401(k). I bet if I posted a youtube about my job, it might create those kinds of problems for me. So I don’t. But live and learn, young man, it’s all about the journey.

lizrdskyzrd on November 27, 2012 at 1:48 pm

I wonder what his stage parent(s) think about this. About to lose a meal ticket here.

As for most likely never working in Hollywood again, that scenario would likely happen eventually even if he stuck to the status quo as very few child actors have acting careers as adults. It sounds like the kid is level-headed and will succeed in whatever he does in life after Hollywood…

Alan on November 27, 2012 at 1:50 pm

He is not ‘enlightened’, he is a punk. He is insulting the show under the guise of Christianity. Although I agree the show is pointless and I don’t watch it, he is under contract. Being a good Christian he needs to think of the others working for the show who aren’t multi-millionaires relying on every paycheck for everyday expenses. If he really wants to make a difference, he can channel it differently by donating money, volunteering or helping a cause like Habitat for Humanity.

Lee on November 27, 2012 at 2:18 pm

He’s new to the faith, Lee. Give him a chance to figure it out. There is a precept for being a good workman.
Someone in his church should tell him the story about Jacob working for Laban for 14 years. Although the work of shepherding was not filthy, Laban most definitely was and yet Jacob got rich, and made Laban richer.

Italkit on November 27, 2012 at 2:24 pm

Habitat for Humanity are filthy, progressive scumbags. There are hundreds of more deserving charities.

    DS_ROCKS! on November 27, 2012 at 2:35 pm

Founded and continually supported by James Earl Carter.
BTW, they only accept applications from people who are living in sub-standard housing, it doesn’t matter if you can’t really afford to pay for a minimally decent place. Also, I checked them out in one place I lived where land is scarce. They were building 2 story townhouse type places with no provision for the disabled, not even enough clearances for someone to put in a lift if they could fund one in other ways.

Italkit on November 29, 2012 at 3:06 am

NB: this is “Lee” with the capital “L.” Not the smart “lee.”

skzion on November 27, 2012 at 4:14 pm

Italkit, Capital L “Lee” is a Liberal. I don’t care what a dope like that thinks. Then he goes on to express how he wants the lad to manifest “Christianity” in the right “Liberal” way just like a Liberal fascist.

And most offensively, telling him how to dole out his money and WHAT LIBERAL CHARITIES to give it to. It’s Mental Liberalism Sanctimony 101.

Noticed how he (in typical Liberal religion) made sure to declare the lad is NOT ‘enlightened’ and instead sticks up for a skanky show (‘insulting’) and accused him of having nefarious reasons and using “religion” as a dirty cloak when the show itself IS the dirty cloak.

The kid made his money. He is now a devoted Christian. He will now have to act like one and he can dole out his $$$ however the f*** he wants to. And most Christians tithe. Something Liberals are stingy with as they expect Daddy Gubmint to give NOT the sanctimonious Liberal.

I know what a good Christian is and I will judge him as such BUT I will NOT tell him what to do with his $$$ and how to “give it away”. I may as well be a Liberal again IF I do that crap.

And I don’t ever forget the only freedoms Liberals want people to have are “gay/sexual” rights and abortion rights. My idea of freedom is more expansive than those.

Skunky on November 27, 2012 at 6:30 pm

Thanks, S. I didn’t know but unfortunately, young Angus has recanted to a degree. Now says G-d has him there for a purpose.

Italkit on November 29, 2012 at 3:02 am

I applaud the guy for saying that this show is filth (as are most TV shows nowadays) but if you do hate it so much why not quit? This guy is making a ton of money and complains that what he’s doing is basically immoral filth yet he continues to stay with the show and earn a big paycheck? PUH-LEASE!

HotwasabiPeas on November 27, 2012 at 2:18 pm

Not watch TV???? How would you ever have been up-to-date on the continuing saga of Casey Anthony? How would you be exposed to the complexity of thoughts represented by Susan Rice, John McVain and Torie Clarke?

Little Al on November 27, 2012 at 2:44 pm

Sometimes I wonder if I am the only human being on the planet who has never actually viewed a single episode of this show. I’ve only seen advertisements for it that air during other programs on CBS, and the whole premise doesn’t even slightly pique my interest. It appears to essentially be another “My Two Dads,” only with a boy instead of a girl.

That being said, I’m seeing a lot of similarities to the whole “Isaac Hayes leaving South Park because they made fun of his religion” thing. this guy now has only two possible futures in store for him, neither of them enviable. He either becomes another Kirk Cameron, and winds up blabbering about the origins of Bananas all over TV and the internet, or (the even worse scenario), he becomes another Willie Aames, dons a gay looking purple and yellow superhero costume, then winds up on “Celebrity Re-hab” a couple of years later.

Either way, he can now look forward to a life of being pointed and laughed at like Stephen Baldwin, Gary Busey, Victoria Jackson or the late Jeff Conaway. Type any of these names into YouTube’s search engine, and prepare to chuckle.

Off the top of my head, the only overtly Christian celebrity I can think of with any class is Kristen Chenoweth, who quietly attends church every Sunday, and doesn’t constantly rub everyone else’s noses in her religious beliefs. That’s why her career continues to thrive both on stage and screen.

Irving on November 27, 2012 at 2:48 pm

You are not the only person who has not watched a single episode of two and a half men. I haven’t watched one either and I have plenty of time to watch it but would rather do something else.

Lady in Northern Virginia on November 27, 2012 at 7:38 pm

All I can say is that I never watched the show “Two & Half Men”, I to thought it was kinda silly and foolish, now at the sametime I understand where this kid is coming from, however, I don’t exactly condone everything he’s saying, if people want to watch Two and Half Men, that’s their opinion and their lives, he or anybody shouldn’t tell people what they should or shouldn’t watch, that’s a “no-no”.

And it’s ok that he found christianity, as I said, good luck to him, but also Angus T. Jones must understand that we have “freedom of the arts”, in this country. And this is the problem I have with people who are devoutly religious, they preach dogma mumbo-jumbo crap down your throat endlessly and tell you how you should live your life, and that’s one of the reasons why I left the church a number of years ago and became a secular person, it’s NOT religion I hate, it’s people who are religious-fanatics that I can’t stand, and it can be from any religion, not just islam alone.

And as I said, I don’t watch Two and Half Men and I could careless for that show, and our pal Angus T. Jones have to acknowledge is that “Organized Religion” can be pretty corrupt and BS around at times by being in it for the money and profit, etc.!

“A nation is defined by its borders, language & culture!”

Sean R. on November 27, 2012 at 3:35 pm

I do kind of wonder about the timing of his “conversion.”

skzion on November 27, 2012 at 5:14 pm

That’s like trashing the coach and/or teammates right after you sign a $100M+ contract. I’d like to see him give back a single penny but I won’t hold my breath. Sheesh. What industry did he think he was in? Can anybody say ‘brainwash?’

Robert Lefkowitz on November 27, 2012 at 5:40 pm

I have been thinking about this all day. I liked what DS said and her reply to JEG sums up the summation I came to (before reading this column). I cautiously add ONE caveat…I will not applaud him too loudly presently BUT if his convictions stick, it will be my pleasure to support him LOUDLY.

Too many young’uns embrace a religious life and then as they get adult-like, throw it away because it’s not conducive to the righteous religious struggle and instant gratification wins. I am sick of that. These days I give totally open skanks more respect than religious frauds who preach one thing and become another.

And DS quite rightly named an A#1 example. Viley Virus. Oh, if murder were legal! She sickens me because she is a faker and fraud and an uber-annoying one at that. I always saw thru’ her because we all knew the TMI, big-mouthed girl in high school who can never STFU. She is like that. And her weirdo brother gave an innocuous interview with the now defunct “Blender” magazine years ago that pretty much told me his skanky, annoying, narcissistic sister was a total fraud but cha-ching, oh the money she brought in for the Disney facade!

She can’t control herself and candid snaps of her these days are of her participating in drug activity or in praise of it and her rank tongue is always hanging out like she’s a porn star. Plus her fake “punk rock” phase makes me gag. Nothing annoys me more than a fake punk rocker. I’d have Avril Lavigne CDs if I liked fake punk rock and didn’t know good music.

So I hope this lad can sustain his POSITIVE message. I don’t tolerate hypocrites so I will be the first one to point it out IF he becomes one. I hope not though because what he spoke about IS edifying and his junk show is NOT. I had 3 peeps tell me how funny that show was but I knew enough NOT to watch it. I have standards and values.

Oh and another example of an utter fraud is baby-mama Jessica Simpson.

Skunky on November 27, 2012 at 6:16 pm

The backtracking will begin soon (maybe it’s already begun), and he’ll get castigated for that as well, but it’s okay. This is what happens when you’re young and full of vim and vigor about something that’s just opened your eyes. He’ll go all mea culpa, mea culpa, but in a small way, just watch and see: should he remain on the show, there will be some subtle changes that give room for virtue and decency.

gmartinz on November 27, 2012 at 11:38 pm

I’m more impressed by his history of philanthropy than the statement on the show, though if he backs up his words with action (breaking contract, donating future earnings from the filth) I’d be pleasantly surprised. Otherwise, talk is cheap.

Robert on November 28, 2012 at 12:51 am

Ironic.
It was only a few days ago that I unsubscribed from TheForerunner777.

While his exposes of the Mystery Babylon religion behind Global events was somewhat interesting (though it was the late Bill Cooper who was the leader in that field), I’m frankly not particularly interested in christianity – it was created by the Roman Flavian dynasty as, among other things, postwar propaganda after the first Jewish genocide – http://caesarsmessiah.com/

Nonetheless, it is heartening that this young actor is taking what appears to be a principled stand.

Nigel on November 28, 2012 at 2:45 am

For the first few years it was on, I avoided the show because I thought it was merely an inane sit-com. After I started watching it, it grew on me. Charlie Sheen was the main attraction, and the guy who plays his brother. Many of the episodes were quite good. Were they Shakespeare? No, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t funny, didn’ have a heart, were not entertaining. Unless demurrers here are anti-entertainment (which would make you curiously Islamic-sounding), I suggest you dial down your self-righteous indignation at (wrinkle nose) TELEVISION….!!! ooohhh ick

Remember, the liberal Wilsonian social engineer John F. Kennedy approved his FCC chairman’s arrogant statement that “Television is a vast wasteland” — thereby condemning all those ordinary Americans who, gosh darn it!, liked to relax in front of the TV after a hard days work and school.

It’s actually quite PC to condemn TV. Everybody has their PC spasms — even me, sometimes.

Hesperado on November 28, 2012 at 4:13 am

Where there are no Men, strive to be a Man. This kid deserves a huge “Yasher Koach!” The name of the show is ironic because there are no “Men” on that show, just grown up perverted children.

David on November 28, 2012 at 10:28 am

David … perfect, exactly. I’ve always wondered why we call alcohol an adult drink and porn adult entertainment. Well, adult bodies, pubescent emotional level.

Pray Hard on November 28, 2012 at 10:42 am

Who didn’t know this show was garbage to begin with? Who didn’t know that nearly all of TV is garbage? Who didn’t know that television is a vast wasteland? I mean, except Hesperado.

Well, if Fox is to believed, Mr. Jones has already reversed himself (as much as possible).

Me, I can’t watch the show as I don’t have cable or TV reception.

skzion on November 28, 2012 at 11:20 am

I never watched the show because I judge TV shows by their premise and didn’t like this one.

Mr. Jones is a very young man and should further his academic education with his money to insure his future.

Rochelle on November 28, 2012 at 1:02 pm

On today’s AOL web site, there is, in the title of the article, a reference to Jones’ ‘meltdown’. I saw his video, and it was a well presented talk. Meltdown implies ranting and a loss of control. How many people read beyond the title, and how many people will see Jones’ entire video presentation?

Gloria Stewart on November 28, 2012 at 2:57 pm

This morning on my way to work while listening to Christmas music(I can’t get enough) I happen to turn back to talk radio. The station runs “The Wall Street Journal This Morning”. The host mentioned that Angus had apologized for his remarks about “Two and a Half Men”. I think that his mom, who’s a peace of work, got to him. The poor dear just couldn’t see her meal ticket, er son get brain washed by those evil Christians. On the other hand I didn’t watch T & 1/2 M when Charlie Sheen was stinking up the set. My brother who loves the show said that Jon Crier is good but the former Mr. Demi Moore Kuthcher sucks. I’m not surprised with Kutcher. He sucks all around to begin with. We will see what Jones’ backstracking will get him in the coming months as far as Hollyweird is concerned.

Ken b on November 28, 2012 at 5:53 pm

I remain skeptical of this whole dog and pony show. I’m sure Lil’ Angus and his folks didn’t mind those hefty paychecks coming in….now he’s found religion and doesn’t want to be part of the show? He goes viral with the Rev. Mindbender from the First Church of the Second Act of the Third Bowel Movement sitting next to him mentally spoon-feeding what to say. His demeanor was NOT genuine in any fashion.

*******NEWSFLASH!!!!!!…..now he’s gone back on the record stating he may have been a little hasty in his decision? Maybe he had nightmares about those fat checks not rolling in anymore, his career is in the dumpster, and now he has to go out in the real world and pound away like the rest of us. I have no sympathy for this douchebag…I call “Bulls**t” on this one!

Mmmm have to try this out! Looks amazing!
