“Blacks Not Motivated This Time Around”? Not EXACTLY; Black Turnout VERY High in Michigan

By Debbie Schlussel

Yesterday, I told you Obama would win Michigan and laughed at the fake pollster/fraud-committing Hezbollah lawyer Tarek Baydoun’s absurd poll showing Mitt Romney winning Michigan. I stand by that even more so today. I’ve always doubted the claim by many on the right that “Blacks aren’t as motivated this time around” to vote. Really? That’s not what I saw in my mostly Black neighborhood. And it’s just not what I see, as I live in the midst of Black America. Most of my neighbors are Black, my Mayor is Black, and I live in a majority Black city. They are more motivated than ever. More than in 2008.

Black Voters Waiting in Line in Dearbornistan, Today

Reports I’ve gotten from all over Black areas of Michigan say turnout is higher than ever before. And it’s backed by video reports showing long lines and lines and lines of Black voters in Detroit and even in Macomb County, Michigan formerly known as “Reagan Country” who lined up on Friday and Monday to vote absentee and who lined up this morning.

This morning, I voted in my precinct in a largely Black neighborhood of a Detroit suburb. And the huge crowd at the polling place–I’ve never seen anything like it before. It was the first time in my 11 years of living here that I’ve ever had to wait in line to vote. I waited about 15 minutes, which isn’t bad, but I’ve never ever had to wait before. The turnout is huge, this time around. I was voter #286, which is about the number of people who usually vote in my precinct in an entire day of a Presidential election, and I was there at 10:30 a.m. I always go at the same time of the day to vote, thinking I will avoid the crowds. And while there is usually just a handful of people voting at this time, I saw about 100 Black people and four Whites voting in the four precincts that always have voting in a local public school gym. I didn’t see this many voters for the 2008 election. My poll worker told me there were long lines at 6:00 a.m. when she got there (and the polls don’t open in Michigan until 7:00 a.m.).

I also got reports from several other places, including West Bloomfield, Michigan, a largely White Detroit suburb, where friends told me they gave up after waiting in line for 20 minutes and that they were surprised at the number of Black voters who live in their precincts. A report from Detroit’s ABC affiliate, WXYZ-TV, showed long lines of Black people in mostly White Clinton Township (formerly “Reagan Country”), saying they’d been waiting to vote for two hours (the place ran out of ballots!). Black turnout here is high here, and I doubt it’s an exception to the rule around America. Detroit’s NBC affiliate, WDIV-TV/Local 4, reports that in largely Black Oak Park, Michigan (it also has a significant Orthodox Jewish population), voters at some precincts are waiting in line for THREE hours to vote today.

It betrays the myth that “Blacks aren’t so motivated this time around.” Believe me, they’re motivated, and we know they vote 90%-plus for Obama.

That said, we all know the conventional wisdom that the winner of Ohio takes all. And we know that Ohio has a lot of rural White voters who’ll likely go for Romney. And a lot of auto workers for whom the auto bailout–and Romney’s opposition to it–is more of a factor there than it is here in the Motor City. I doubt the Black vote in Ohio will be the deciding factor. And Romney may pull it out and win Ohio.

But I never ever believed the BS that Blacks aren’t as motivated to come out for Obama this time around. From what I’ve seen–on my own and in myriad video reports around Michigan–they are more motivated than ever.

Whoever counted them out doesn’t know Black America. It’s where I live.

There is a lot at stake in this election and I think many people are motivated.

I’ve never had to wait where I currently live, until today. At 9:30, it was a 45 minute wait and getting longer. I witnessed only one person look at the line and decide to leave.

Road Warrior on November 6, 2012 at 1:08 pm

As we discussed, in Silver Spring, Maryland, the mostly black crowd had already formed an hour’s long line by 7:10 am, and in the District of Columbia, I saw line snaking around the block.

The black ministers pushed Obama hard to their congregants.

There will be a record turnout of black voters in this election. It is a shame that so many white voters are apathetic, because this is nothing short of an electoral race war.

Jonathan E. Grant on November 6, 2012 at 1:30 pm

    Jon,

So the racists of Black America vote for a fellow racist based on skin color?

    Not exactly a surprise.

NormanF on November 6, 2012 at 2:37 pm

Norman, last time I looked at recent history, Blacks voted for White Male Democratic presidential candidates in the 90th percentile. Now that they’re voting for a Black Democratic Presidential candidate in the same percentages, how does that make them racists??? Maybe foolish for being too tied to one party, because it ain’t like the White Democrats who ran didn’t get their vote either…

I seriously doubt Romney will be allowed to win. The Democratic fraud machine is fully operational, especially in Philly but in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Colorado as well.

Hand out, palm up …

As goes Israel, so goes the World... on November 6, 2012 at 1:46 pm

Especially now with Obama in charge, there’s no possibility of a real election.

DS_ROCKS! on November 6, 2012 at 1:50 pm

Doesn’t Detroit always go blue?

John on November 6, 2012 at 1:50 pm

Yup – the demographics are very different from Reagan’s day. MI was always a tease but its going to go to Obama tonight.

NormanF on November 6, 2012 at 2:39 pm

Your ideology and work are amongest the most prophetic in the modern era that I have that I have seen. I wish that you would go on tour to select churches and very conservative places with your ideas.
Perhaps your biggest deficit is that you live in a Third World shit hole of Detroit. It is called making your bed and laying in it.
The United States will be fighting Black Run America long after this election is over but I would rather fight Black Run America in the Land of Dixie where people have more respect for human rights and dignity than the liberals of the North.

Confederate South on November 6, 2012 at 2:25 pm

CS, what are you talking about with this “Black-run America” stuff??? Another supremacist/nationalist fantasy to stir up the fringe I guess. Are most of the Forture 500 CEOs Black? Is most of Congress and the Senate Black? How many Black folks besides Oprah are in that top 1% of wage-earners and control and move the wealth of this country? Is is Black folks that are outsourcing jobs overseas??? We’re 12% of the freakin population and have more issues (unemployment, out-of-wedlock birth rates, education, prison population numbers etc.) than the Lord allows. If we’re running America, somebody forgot to send me the memo. As my grandmother used to tell me, “The only thing Black folks are running in this country are their mouths…”

    D. O'Nay on November 7, 2012 at 11:36 am

MI was always a bridge too far because of Detroit.

And that always swamps everything in an otherwise Republican state.

NormanF on November 6, 2012 at 2:34 pm

Of course, if one believes plastic, Red State Uber Alles celebrity conservatives like Michelle Malkin, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, blacks are “natural conservatives” desperately trying to escape the liberal “plantation.” This bit of idiotic fiction, oblivious to the fact that blacks (like anyone else), vote their interests, is doing the GOP severe harm. It’s time to discard it.

Message to self-deluded conservatives: Blacks seek a free lunch (i.e. reparations) at the expense of whites. And Democrats by far are serving the largest portions. That’s why blacks keep voting for them. The Mittster couldn’t muster the willingness to say as much. Yes, like any sane white, I voted for him earlier today. But I did so without much enthusiasm. If he wins, don’t expect massive change over the next four years.

That nation of leeches is only 13%, despite the fact they are a majority in the media. This have allowed them to get one of theirs in the White House, but you can only fool all of the people once…he was as incompetent as all his people, going so far as pushing even his own white grand mother under the bus, her that supported the ungrateful parasite all his life…cant wait to enjoy the following riots where they burn Detroit to a cinder…IT’S GONNA BE A COLD WINTER IN SHITCAGO AND DEE TROYT!!!

Ming the Merciless on November 6, 2012 at 2:43 pm

I’ve never heard that blacks are not motivated to turn out for the SCOAMF. The people that are not motivated for obama are the independents. Last time he won that demographic, unlikely this time around.

BTW, I hope Romney wins so I can watch Chris Matthews’ head explode. As well as the inner cities. SAH-WEET!

FrenchKiss on November 6, 2012 at 2:55 pm

Kudos to you Debbie; you live in a Black neighborhood which is more than I can say for Barack Obama when he was making a living off Blacks in Chicago. He had to travel a far piece to arrive in the neighborhoods in which he did community organizing. The last three Presidents have put this country into a slippery slide toward oblivion. If Obama is re-elected, this country will turn into a present day Soviet Union with no hope of ever regaining its greatness. In addition, Israel will not only cease to be a democracy but will also cease to be a nation, and the Middle East (which is already on its way) will become totally radical Islam. The fact that this election is even close is a testament to the ignorance of the mass media and its indoctrination of this country. In additon, China with its military might (thanks to the traitor Bill Clinton and his allowing our military secrets to be handed over to the Chinese) and economic strength will take over this country both economically and militarily.

NormCBS on November 6, 2012 at 2:57 pm

The black half of O will get the black votes – so maybe the white half will…get the white votes.

Seriously, whichever way this election goes, don’t expect to see any more ‘persons of color’ elected – every time you critize their policies the left calls you a racist.

Reel One on November 6, 2012 at 3:09 pm

No offense, reel one, but are you on CRACK? In twenty years or less, whites will be in the minority. With young white morons and white single women voting for Obama, we may never see a white male president again. In fact, we may never see a white as president again.

IN 1980 our country was 80% white.

Now, it is less than 60% white, and the white population is barely reproducing enough to keep up with the number of white deaths.

    This country is toast.

Jonathan E. Grant on November 6, 2012 at 3:25 pm

Jonathan, contrary to popular belief, Black birth rates and population percentages are stagnant also. The decrease in the perecentage of Whites is mainly due to an explosion of the Hispanic population, with the growth of the Asian/Indian population thrown in there also..

      D. O'Nay on November 7, 2012 at 11:43 am

It’s understandable that you’re pessimistic – but there are a number of possibilities in this scenario. My guess is that the current majority are not (entirely) lemmings.

      Shalom.

Reel One on November 7, 2012 at 12:00 pm

This reminds me of the 1968 “Planet of the Apes” movie. Apparently, the apes took over using the ballot box.

Jonathan E. Grant on November 6, 2012 at 3:22 pm

Hey Jonathan speaking of “Planet of the Apes”. Didn’t David Gregory star in the updated version that came out last year?

    Ken b on November 6, 2012 at 6:08 pm

Debbie, you are completely correct on your article maam. Since I happen to be a fan and supporter of Debbie Schlussel herself, I also happen to be a black male who’s pretty conservative politically. Debbie and everybody here, I live in a mixed community in the New York, NY area (my area is mixed of blacks, whites, hindus, arabs, hispanics, persians, & asians) and I didn’t vote until about 12 pm this afternoon (high-noon), I voted at a local elementary school, I and everybody stood outside the building for a little over an hour. When we finally got inside the building, we sat in the lunch room of the school waiting for our number(s) to be announced. Oh and BTW, it was predominatly black individuals who waited on the line with me to vote.

And I also assumed they voted for Obama, I on the other hand finally made up my mindset and voted for Romney, because I know who Obama really is, and I wasn’t swayed this time and I also wasn’t swayed and duped by Obama in 2008. And most of my conservative friends told me that a vote for Gary Johnson is a vote for Obama (within the last month of the election, I semi supported Gary Johnson for president)! Mr. Johnson is a constitutionalists, he’s also pro-Israel and I don’t think the man collected money from the arabs like both Romney and Obama did during this campaign!

Sean R. on November 6, 2012 at 4:23 pm

I bet you are not too welcome in certain black circles, Sean R.

I am not welcome in reform Jewish congregations because I am not part of the group think that will lead once again to the destruction of a large segment of the Jewish people.

Jonathan E. Grant on November 6, 2012 at 4:35 pm

Jon, I understand what you’ve went through as a jewish person, of you not being welcome back into the reform jewish congregations due to some to many of your co-religionists putting liberalism ahead of their faith and putting their left wing ideology ahead of their overall survival, etc.

I’m kinda fortunate, my fellow blacks haven’t done such fascists tactics to me of trying to trample and suppress my rights to free speech/free expression and so on. Many of my relatives are regisitered Democrats and lean towards the left, ironically there not really into politics and they very seldomly talk politics, if they talk a little politics, it’s mainley the stupid left wing claptrap rhetoric, propaganda, etc.

Sean R. on November 6, 2012 at 5:16 pm

I know some conservative blacks who are mocked, called “Uncle Tom,” etc. by fellow blacks. Funny thing is, Martin Luther King was a Republican, and the Kennedys, whom many blacks worshipped, were racists who only cared about civil rights when the country got tired of Jim Crow. They were opportunists, not leaders.

Jonathan E. Grant on November 6, 2012 at 5:23 pm

JEG, I was also thinking about this awesome garage song by The Mummies about the “Planet Of The Apes” the past 2 weeks. Because I see this country becoming like the lyrics in a nonsensical (and yet real) way…

NormCBS, kudos for you and your post. Very poignant and I appreciated it.

Last election where I voted there was a long line. I knew they were Obama-Putin fantasizers. This time (I have moved since 2008) there were NO LINES but more peeps milling about than I have seen in a bit. It’s Liberal-land and so it’s mostly Jewish Liberals.

I voted for Romney. I didn’t vote for either Fauxcahontas or that fraud Scott Brown.

I pray Obama-Putin loses tonight. Very hard!

Skunky on November 6, 2012 at 5:50 pm

I had just got off work and voted 2 hrs ago. The line was not too long and it took me 20 minutes tops. The ony thing that I didn’t like was people giving me pamplets and paper on who to vote for. I guess because I’m black the two ladies that managed to hand me something were democrats. I took what they gave me and stuck it in my pocket. When I got inside it had all of the dems that were running in NC along with Odummer and Joe(Big F-ing Deal)Biden on the header. I hated to break it to those ladies but not all of us blacks have supported anything that the first gungan president has done. I casted my vote for Romney looked at the longer line forming and left. Just like Sean the town that I live in has a large black, hispanic and asian population. A big percentage of those blacks will be just like Colin Powell(despite what he says) and vote for Oblamo because he’s black.I do think that North Carolina will be in the Romney column. Sadly I thing that nearby Virgina will go to Odummer again. My brother who lives in Northern Virgina and is conservative like me sees way too many knuckleheaded libs in his neighborhood. He says that they’ve infested that area of Virginia like a plague. He said that he couldn’t vote for that loser Tim”shifty eyebrow”Kaine or George”W C Fields”Allen. I told him that I hope that Romney gets the nod just so I could turn to PMSDNCNBC and see him have an aneurysm.

Ken b on November 6, 2012 at 7:12 pm

Minorities and poor whites vote Democrat because they get freebies.
What happens after the money is all gone to pay for the Food stamps, the free phones, section 8 housing, free healthcare, free lunches, etc.?
Many of these people have not worked in generations!!
I’ve often commented how crazy it is that we have people sitting on their butts on welfare while at the same time illegals are risking their lives to come here to work.
And of course the illegals quickly figure out they can make just as much money sitting on their butts too rather than working.
We are in a economic death spiral.
And I honestly don’t see any silver lining or hope for anything other than eventual total collapse.

I’m white and personally I don’t give a rat’s ass what color a candidate has!… To wit, my candidate (hopefully for the next presidency too) is retired LTC (Lt. Colonel) Allen Bernard West (R)…

If the Ron Paul-bots and Gary Johnson fans had voted for Mitt, he might have won, I am sure. Ohh well, back to the salt-mine, at least we got a lotta material with another 4 yrs of Obama-holicism to keep us on edge.
