WNBA Fake Dunk Joke of the Day

By Debbie Schlussel

Last week, Business Week wrote a whole long feature on how the WNBA is “Not Just a Punch Line Anymore.”  Uh, yes, it is.

Clownball, Season 13

For years, we here at DebbieSchlussel.com have brought you a bursting pinata full of WNBA mockery, including here and here, among many others. Yet another of its teams just folded in December. And that Weird Nuisance Brought on America–that Waste of National Broadcast Airtime–is still a joke.  Because. It’s. Not. Real. Basketball.  It really should be called the NLLNBC–the Non-Lipstick Lesbian National Basketball Coven.

And, in case you forgot about what a joke this fake “pro” sports league is, these abnormally tall man-chicks reminded you over the weekend, when all of the players of both teams stopped guarding a player during the WNBA All-Star Game (what do you call an “All Star” game with no stars in it?) and walked out of the way, so that she could make a dunk in the closing minutes of this sideshow game. Skip their BS and start watching at 34 seconds in for this monumental sports moment of our time:

Well, gee, that was such an achievement.  Almost as much of an achievement as when one WNBA player got married . . . to a man.  And another had a baby . . . through natural intercourse . . . with a man (at least we’re told that’s how it was conceived).  Both of those events got a ton of press-releasing and PR-ing from this fake sports league that no-one watches.

To remind you, Jimmy Kimmel said it best, last year, when a WNBA player achieved a dunk–the first in six years.  Apparently the commercial he made got to them and they decided to speed of their timeline of one forced, faked dunk every six years.

That player being Candace Parker…AND THE FEMIFASCISTS WHO RUN THIS LEAGUE GOT THEIR LEATHER CHAPS IN A WAD OVER IT!

The other thing about the all-star game was that it was held in my home state The People’s Republic of CT-Stan at the Mohegan Sun Arena–NEAR THE MOHEGAN SUN CASINO–int eh town of Uncasville in Eastern CT (near Norwich). The M-S-A is the home to the CT Sun, formerly The Orlando Miracle. AND IT WOULD TAKE SOMETHING LIKE THAT TO KEEP THIS SO-CALLED LEAGUE FROM BUBBLING UNDER!

So blame my state for this undetone of lesbians called women’s hoops players at UCONN! There are days I wish I could leave my home state of CT! I HAVE THEM EVERYDAY!

Being from Brooklyn NYC I never heard of Women’s Basketball until I moved to Connecticut where I discovered that it was an actual sport that people (men & women) watched. Very odd. College level is one thing, but on a national level. I’m not a big sports fan so it’s been explaned to me that they play as a team – with lots of passing. Whatever! It’s one of those things that make Connecticut Connecticut.

What just happened here? Did the other players let one player slam dunk a basketball just so they all could claim that the WNBA can slam dunk? And why was the announcer yelling? Did they not see how obvious it was that the other players let her do it? Did I miss something?

Why the hate over the WNBA? We live in CT, enjoy the Sun, and I have a daughter who played basketbal in middle school, high school, AAU, attended UConn basketball camps, and would have continued onward had her knees not given out. She isn’t a lesbian; she’s an athlete. She read your article with dismay and sadness that you would detract from a dream that started for women basketball players years ago…a prefessional league of their own.
All women, including you, should be happy that an organization like the WNBA exists for the star college players so they don’t just have to give up the sport they love…or go play in Europe. And if some of these women are lesbians, who cares? It’s not indoctrination. The game has gotten a lot more demanding and the players are bigger, better, and their sexual orientation is their business. So what if they stepped back to let a player dunk?
I’m usually with you on just about everything you write but Deb, why the hate?

And Bob? If you don’t like our NCAA champions, go move to Rhode Island, dude. Go Huskies!

Whatever happened to the WNFL ? sigh….or not

Vixen, I was only going after the WNBA, not UCONN. Being a UCONN grad (1996) I have been a fan of both the men’s and women’a basketball programs–men back to the 80’s the women since the first title in 1995. The college level is one thing, which is a major success (thanks to GENO AURIEMMA), but a failing pro league like the WNBA joining the following…

World Football League
USFL (sold for $1)
XFL (don’t nobody get me going on that)
ABL (which was a women’s basketball league)
MISL (Indoor soccer)
NASL

IS ANOTHER MATTER! I take pride in knowing CT has one of the most successful programs in college hoops in this country. But it’s a shame that it also combines with the progressive politics that has become what once was “The Constitution State.”
