I agree with the general point about the Republican wrecking squad, but I have a lot of reservations about Akin.

Granted others have made dumb comments, and there is a double standard between liberals and conservatives, but the thing that really bothered me about Akin was the extent and lack of qualification of his apologies. I heard him on Hannity (car radio — have to listen to something when I’m driving), and it seemed clear to me that from now on, he will be completely on the defensive in his campaign, and a doormat for the feminists.

“Legitimate rape” can be an appropriate expression, at least in the context where the PCers have expanded the definition of rape beyond recognition — the student handbooks about ‘date rape’, the phony Duke prosecution, etc. But Akin won’t even try to refine his remarks — he was obviously backing down from anything that could possibly cause the slightest aggravation to feminists in his apologies. If he had held fast, even a little in this area, I would have supported him.

Granted O’Donnell didn’t break any IQ barriers, but some of her comments were distorted and exaggerated by the media — with Akin they didn’t need to distort anything. And O’Donnell remained defiant until the very end, as did Angle, something that distinguishes them from Akin.

And Rush’s apologetics for Akin were incomprehensible — Rush speculated that Akin is used to speaking only with people who have agreed with his conservative social views over the years, and this explained his incredible comments about the female body’s ability to deal with ‘illegitimate rape’. They’re a refection of the political isolation of his discussions. Rush can’t be that stupid– but he evidently thinks his listeners are.

I think that McCaskill is vulnerable, although I am far from endorsing any Republicans except for maybe Allen West, Joe Walsh and Michele Bachmann. I am opposed to the Republican attack machine and what they did to Sharon Angle, especially, but Angle and O’Donnell never became as contrite as Akin. His contrition and complete subservience to the feminists now, make him damaged goods.

But one of the problems in this campaign is Romney’s total disinterest in any issues except the economy, so the Democrats will have an unfettered playing field in the women’s area. Romney didn’t really counter them before, with the whole Sandra Flake thing, and now, he will be even more helpless. Akin’s conservative social views don’t bother me, but I am afraid they are now a thing of the past.

And frankly, my thought when I heard about Akin was to wonder who the clown of the day will be tomorrow. A party that hopes to lead this country forward had better come up with better people than this.

As a woman that has been raped, I do not find what he said offensive. (As a matter of fact, I remember being taught exactly what he said in “sex ed” in school.) What I do find offensive, however, is that the donks can say pretty much anything – no matter how false or ridiculous – and the media lets it slide.

When Christine O’Donnell was running for senate in Delaware two years ago, the woman said some outrageous and dumbass sentiments, I believe she said that if you touch yourself inappropriately, your going to hell and your not going to the kingdom, etc. When she said that statement, I was like, “what the hell is lady saying? Is she crazy or something?” Don’t forget, Rick Santorum during the primaries last fall and during the winter said TONS of moronic and stupid stuff, he even used religion as a tool in order for mindless folks to follow him like if he were running a cult or something! To it’s not just limited to folks on the left wing saying dumbass and moronic stuff, there’s been some people on the right-wing who’s said plenty of moronic sentiments as those on the left-wing have said in the past!

WTF!? Rape is traumatic and the memories of it stay with you for your lifetime. The man has no conscience if he can say something stupid as ‘legitmate rape’. If this ever happened to any female he loved, would he truly be asking them if they were ‘legitimately’ raped? That is insane! Would any of you be asking that? Rape and incest are about someone’s power over another person, not about sex.

Not too long ago the woman in US a woman was blamed for her own rape. In many (if not all) Middle Eastern countries, a woman can be prosecuted/put to death after being raped because she is having sex outside of marriage. I guess that is what the US headed for morally.

When Nancy Pelosi tried to exempt “Chicken of the Sea” Tuna from minimum wage increases because they were in her district, when she made millions from the legislation she pushed, when she said or did some outrageous garbage, where were the Republicans to demand her ouster from the House of Representatives? Republicans need to grow a pair. And Michelle’s husband needs to wake up, slap the piss out of his wife, and tell her that from now on, she is going to keep a kosher home and raise the children Jewish.

And throwing Rep. Akin under the bus won’t advance any of the things conservatives want to accomplish in the country. The Democrats are chortling at the circular firing squad the Right has assembled around the beleaguered Akin.

I agree that we should stand behind Todd Aiken. He was asked, as a pro-lifer, whether he would accept a pregnancy arising from a rape as a legitimate reason for an abortion. Why on earth he had to talk about the false idea that conception is virtually impossible after a rape, I do not know. He was wrong factually and wrong to address it at all. Once a woman is pregnant from a rape it is a little late to talk about risk assessment or how unlikely it was to occur.

Later on he said that he would not favor abortion because it would take the life of an innocent victim – the child. He said he favored punishing the rapist. Of course the media focused on his misstatement. His use of the term “legitimate” to qualify rape is pertinent today because the feminist movement has expanded the definition way beyond the bounds of commonsense, much less law.

President Obama can ask for more Arabic translators in Afghanistan, and nobody points out that the inhabitants of Afghanistan don’t speak Arabic. He can allude to his great uncle as having been present at the liberation of Auschwitz and no one in the media points out that the Red Army liberated Auschwitz.

Sarah PALIN is now the Republican elite? Are you KIDDING me? The REAL elite Republicans are the ones who are members of Congress. For most of Schlussel’s lifetime they have been using their outsized influence to nominate an endless flood of McCains and Romneys, all the while suppressing candidates like Akin, Palin, O’Donnell, and the GOOD candidates in this year’s GOP primary. Take Cornyn or McConnell, for example: why is it that the FIERCEST Romney backers are the same people who always try to dump candidates like Akin? For almost a year now, these same politicos have been telling us that Mitt Romney is the ONLY thing that can keep the Republicans alive. They don’t CARE about the Romney enthusiasm gap, of course, because they claim that those of us who are unhappy THEIR pick will somehow be FORCED to vote for him on election day. How very strange that they do NOT believe these same “captive voters” will also be forced to turn out and vote against McCaskill.

Isn’t it funny how the REAL GOP establishment’s diabolically brilliant game of realpolitik always, always commands that we embrace liberal candidates – and reject conservative ones?

If Debbie actually believes that the pus-buckets in Congress wanted Christine O’Donnell, she needs to do some research on a gentleman named Mike Castle, O’Donnell’s opponent in the primary. Approximately as liberal as Al Gore, HE was the one that the GOP elites felt they could get behind. And when Castle lost that primary, the liberal Republicans in Congress and the RSCC pitched a truly epic tantrum and announced that they would not be sending one. single. penny. to help defeat Chris Coons in the general election.

O’Donnell sure doesn’t sound like the establishment candidate to ME. But what do I know?

That much of the attack on Akin by “Main Stream Conservatives” is because Akin is “independent” (mainly supported by Evangelicals, and not THEM).
He is “not one of us” so doesn’t deserve support.

O’Donnell is NOT a good example, because she is an airhead; so was NV candidate. but “Main Stream Republicans” would be wise to be more supportive of the “Tea Partiers” instead of trashing them as “competition” because Americans are “comming around” more to the Tea Party philosophy than the “Big Spending Republicans” of the “Romney, Rove et al Mainstream”

Anyways, I fully support Romney and Ryan asking Akins to leave the GOP. His comments aren’t only a bad relection on Akins. If they were, I’d say R&R were indeed over-reacting. Just like I learned in the Army, the good or bad things you do brings credit upon not only yourself but your entire company/batallion. By staying in the race, he’s being selfish and is affecting the GOP goal of having a sensible moderate that respects business in office instead of a liberal share the wealther. If he left, it would be more clear that Romney and those in the GOP that back him accept logical exceptions for justified abortion such as rape, incest, or threat to life of the mother. They only account for a small amount of cases, but that’s 32,000 rapes a year that result in conception so its still significant. Furthermore, by staying in the race, Skins takes away from the most important issue–> focusing on the economy!

And its no longer about Akin, its about the women’s vote. And if a man has to be thrown overboard to win it, so be it!

That is why the establishment support for him has now been withdrawn. Without it, Akin doesn’t stand a chance in the general election. Nor does any one else the party elders might want to put in his place.

Debbie has a near perfect political track record and I have yet to see her fail this year.

If the company survives your a hero and you cash out you stock options which are in a IRA account on top of the millions you payed yourself in fees. Once upon a time, I defended Michelle Malkin in my blog when she was getting attacked by Margaret Cho.

Since then, with sobriety, I realized that Ms Malkin, along with Ms Coulter and Mr O’Reilly, was not really a conservative but a contradictarian.

My definition of a contradictarian goes like this…

Let’s say that the Democrats made a declaration that the sky was blue. We’d all look at the clear sky and finally deduce that, considering that the worldwide atmospheric conditions were to remain constant, the sky was indeed blue, even though we normally disagree with the Democrats at all known levels.

A contradictarian would look at the sky. But since the Democrats mentioned the fact that the sky was blue, this person, who wanted so much to be different from the crowd, got stuck with 3 choices – either a) concede and agree that the sky is blue; b) agree that the sky is blue, but offer an alternative explanation on why it’s like that; or c) declare the the sky is anything but blue.

This contradictarian, for the sake of being different, unique and true, would go for option “c”, mainly because agreeing and telling the truth would imply agreement with the Democrats.

The same analogy would apply if the Republicans were to make that declaration: contradictarians exist everywhere and wear any political stripe long enough to get to the deli platter at any political rally.

I’d say this: at this time, the “conservative” contradictarians are killing conservatism by saying the exact opposite of what the Democrats are saying at any given moment. Ms Malkin is deliberately making conservatism look like a dead, outdated ideology.

Yes, the Dems will have Bill Clinton speaking at their convention next month, a man who as an elected official exposed, sexually harassed and groped several women that we know about and allegedly raped a women (probably more?). But he and his complicit, enabling wife (“vast right-wing conspiracy”) get a pass because they’re liberal Demoncrats.

Hugh Hewitt was claiming on his radio show yesterday that Akin’s refusal to step down will cost the GOP control of the Senate and that Akin would be responsible for Obamacare, the HHS regs, etc. He then backtracked and said Akin was making it more difficult to get control of the Senate, apparently realizing how demoralizing he previous statements sounded. When Christine O’Donnel was debating Coons before a law school audience (Delaware/Widener I believe), she made the statement that the phrase “separation of church and state” is not found in the First Amendment, which is true. However, most of the law school students laughed at her. So much for a legal education imparting wisdom and intelligence. To paraphrase Dennis Prager, higher education makes you stupid.

You have no idea how glad I was to hear a conservative defending him. Having surf through PJMedia and American Thinker where everyone seems to be doing this groupthink.

It relaxes me knowing that I’m not alone in thinking that Akin shouldn’t be thrown under a bus over a stupid mistake that politicians make all the time.

He just expressed an opinion. It may not be one people agree with but I thought we have or have had freedom of speech in this country.

But what we have learned is that if you disagree with the herd, you’re toast with them. Never mind that he clarified his comment. After all, its not your listening to others that’s praised, you’re damned forever for your original sin!

We have more tolerance for Islamic terrorists than we do for Todd Akin.

Akin won with 36% of the vote. The same crap happened in Nevada with moron Sharron Angle got a plurality of the vote when Sue Lowden and Danny Tarkanian nullified each other. It is important as all hell to retake the Senate if Obama wins re-election and to get John Kerry away from being head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. That there is a double standard should be manifest to all which means our candidates need to be three times smarter and clever then the Democrats. It is what it is. As for O’Donnell I preferred Mike Castle because Delaware being a liberal state, that is as good as you can hope for.

Most of the conservatives, for the reason of very much wanting to win and repeal Obamacare, have recklessly voicing the opinion publicly even to the point of being pushy bullies.
They should’nt blatantly displayed their bully faces publicly if they really want to persuade Akin to drop out. They should do it behind the scene. Imagine if you’re Akin, you win the primary fair and square, would you let yourself be bullied to drop out just because you say something stupid? Okay, not just saying something stupid, but also believing in something factually untrue, “pregnancy can’t happen in legitimate (true) rape”. I think if Akin still want to win the race, his apology should be admitting he’s believed something untrue and has changed his belief (about pregnancy in rape) after knowing the fact. That’ll be more sincere. Then all the self righteous conservatives who’ve bullied him can save face by supporting him again because he’s a change of heart. He can still firmly hold on to his principle of the baby’s innocent, hence shouldn’t be aborted. When he stick to the firm position of the baby’s innocent, not even liberal can disprove that except only through debatable argument of the fetus is not a living baby.

During the chaos of may 1998, Chinese women through out the country in Indonesia were systematically raped by gangs shouting the typical allahu akbar mantra that Debbie hates so much. By it’s systematic nature, it was allegedly organized by military faction in power struggle. Rape pregnancies did happened. In cases like this, most of you who stand for no abortion even in rape case, what would you do if you are the victims themselves?
