Americans do tend to have short memories, and lax standards, especially for Dem politicos.
SC, however, is a very conservative state and conservatives will not stand for the BS that Sanford has engaged in here.
Not only did he cheat on his wife, he engaged his staff and his wife in the cover up.
Sanford left the state and was incommunicado for days on end…leaving no one in charge in his absence.
I say that he resigns as Gov in two weeks or less.
BTW…The Girl from Ipanema vids were a hoot.

Conservatives have standards; liberals don’t. If Sanford was a Democrat, no one would be bothered by his having an affair – no one expects them to abide by a higher standard of conduct. Since he’s a Republican, his career is in all likelihood toast as well as any presidential ambitions he might have had. Was chasing tail in South America worth it?

I thought that I was Shock Proof!! No more!! It just keeps getting better!! Doesn’t anyone vet these creeps. He met his mistress at a Bible Study for crying out loud. He keeps bringing up his family, like a freaking dog-and-pony show. How convenient. Maybe he has South American kids as well. Maybe that’s why he went there on Father’s Day. What is Truth. Once Dems start resigning THEN I’ll buy into that idea.
Otherwise we’re just giving up the fight. Why?

Politics is a full contact sport and NOT for the faint of heart. If you can’t handle the heat get out of the kitchen.
The voters of that state will decide come election day.

Sanford didn’t pay for it but he displayed poor judgment as a husband and as a father. What makes it worse is his wife helping to condone it and cover it up for him. In the society in which we live today, marriage vows don’t mean much. It makes one cringe to see politicians justify their sexual infidelities and ethical lapses as though decent behavior is something beyond their reach.

M: All of that is true. People do sin. But we don’t excuse it or go along with it because that what every one does. A leader is supposed to set an example for the rest of society. We don’t expect them to be saints but we do expect them not to let the temptations of the world lead them astray. Is being a good person all that hard for politicians? For those in positions of power, it can get to their heads and corrupt them.
