For Once, I Agree with Iran/Ahmadinejad . . . Sort of

By
Well, for once, I agree with Islamist Iranians and their Kramer-jacketed leader, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Sort of.
They’re upset with the portrayal of Persians in the movie, “,” claiming it insults Persian civilization. I’m not upset with that. But, as I wrote in , I do agree that the portrayal of of Xerxes as a transvestite bizarro is inaccurate. Ditto for the portrayal of ancient Xerxian Persians (who were NOT Muslims) as freaks and weirdoes.
But, then, there are the Muslim Iranians of today. They are, indeed, effeminate girlie-men and freaks and weirdoes. During a TIME Magazine interview, , that he’s a metrosexual and a girlie-man is pretty much established fact.
So, what was the problem, again?

Real Persian Girlie-Man is Ahmadinejad, Not Xerxes

Actually, the biggest insult is that today’s Islamist Iranians actually think they have any real connection–any resemblance at all–to ancient Persian civilization. After all, that would also assume that, today, they’re civilized.
U.S. hostages for 444 days in 1979-1981 can attest otherwise. Ditto for far too many others.
And ancient Persians were not Muslims. They bore no resemblance to and have nothing to do with the Iranians that live there, today. Not at all.

That’s funny – an insane barbarian is upset about how ancient Persians are portrayed in a movie. In real life, present-day Persians cut off heads, beat women who are victims of rape, and threaten the destruction of civilization.

Maybe we should get this guy even more upset. How about a missile on his head? Just like Clinton did to the aspirin factory. This is a democracy. Let’s put it to a vote?

President Admadinejad had better pay attention to what happened to Xerxes and the various Darius who preceded him. He’ll end up hiding behind his court eunuchs and harem too.

I don’t think the ancient Persians – who were Zoroastrians, not Muslims – deserve to be defamed. Under Cyrus the Great, Persepolis – their ancient capital – was built totally with paid labor, as opposed to slave labor in Babylon or Egypt. If anything, there were far more civilized than Iran at any time since 736AD, when they fell to the Arabs. Neither did the Persians have so many body/face piercings, as the caption above seems to suggest.
I AGREE WITH YOU. YOU DIDN’T READ THIS ENTRY VERY CLOSELY (OR MY REVIEW OF “300”). THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I SAID HEREIN.

To compare any Middle Eastern “race” today with 500 BC is absurd. Since that time the area has been overrun by Mongols, Huns, Brits, Frenchies, and so on. All, save the Brits, had no problems raping and otherwise impregnating the women and killing the men. I leave out the Greeks who seem to have actually sought young boys as well as girls, a main reason they were hated in that part of the world, and a few Russian conquering hordes who also had no problem with R&P. Anthropologists who work the Ancient Egyptian scene say that it is impossible to discern any similarities between the old time Egyptians and the current crop. And besides: it’s only a movie. Name one ever made that was historically accurate. It’s their job to entertain not educate.
