Janet Napolitano Appoints Jihadist to Homeland Security Advisory Committee: Logical Conclusion to ADC Outreach Bush & Chertoff Started
By Debbie Schlussel
On Friday, not a big news day, the Muslim-dominated, openly pro-Hezbollah and pro-HAMAS American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee sent out a press release gloating that its national executive director, Kareem Shora, was sworn in by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano as a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC). The council is made up of 21 members, who are mostly members of law enforcement and government officials.
If you’re like me, you’re familiar with Shora, who has been an open, vehement opponent of any and every tool and move American law enforcement has made in the fight against terrorism and dangerous Muslim illegal aliens from the Middle East. As a lawyer and an ADC legal advisor, he was front and center in opposing profiling, the use of secret evidence against Islamic terrorists seeking to enter the U.S. and become citizens, and even the background checks that the U.S. does on every single person seeking to become a U.S. citizen. He is the father of the litigation jihad.
And I know of him from personal experience, since he and ADC criminal (yes, she has a criminal record) chieftess Mary Rose Oakar tried to use the FBI to silence me and my writing. Imagine what they will do with the Department of Homeland Security. Shora included me in the bogus “ADC 1998-2000 Report on Hate Crimes and Discrimination Against Arab Americans” and “Report on Hate Crimes and Discrimination Against Arab Americans: The Post September 11 Backlash – September 11, 2001 to October 11, 2002.” My “hate crime”: writing about jihadists/Islamic terrorists. You, apparently, aren’t allowed to do that in America, in his opinion. And Shora and the ADC got some idiot left-wing Congressman to insert the reports into the Congressional Record, along with National Catfish Day recognition, and other such highly important and scholarly information.
A few gems from his bio:
Shora is also ADC’s representative on several committees with the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights (LCCR) and a Steering Committee member of the Detention Watch Network. A frequent guest on Al-Jazeera, Shora has spoken about civil rights, civil liberties and immigration policy with many national and international media outlets . . . .
Shora also co-authored the LCCR’s report on racial profiling entitled Wrong Then, Wrong Now: Racial Profiling Before and After September 11, and the ADC 1998-2000 Report on Hate Crimes and Discrimination Against Arab Americans and Report on Hate Crimes and Discrimination Against Arab Americans: The Post September 11 Backlash – September 11, 2001 to October 11, 2002 (Part of the Congressional Record).
Shora, who was born in Damascus, Syria . . . has served as a legal associate with the WV Office of the Attorney General, the WVU Immigration Law Clinical Program.
Shora refuses to condemn HAMAS, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and other Islamic terrorist groups, whom he views as freedom fighters.
Just what we need–a jihadist getting confidential information on sources, methods, and operations of the Department of Homeland Security.
But it shouldn’t be a shocker to anyone who has been a reader of this site and my columns over almost a decade. Just after 9/11, the Bush administration began heavy outreach to ADC, even prompting the FBI to give an award to ADC senior national advisor and Midwest regional director Imad Hamad–a “former” PFLP terrorist and marriage fraud perpetrator whom the government had been trying to deport for well over a decade. The award was revoked after I exposed it in a New York Post column.
Since then, as I’ve detailed on my site, the ADC has been a designated destination for top Homeland Security officials. Daniel Sutherland, a top Homeland Security advisor and Bush appointee, made monthly trips to Detroit to fete Hamad, an open supporter and defender of HAMAS homicide bombers and the Hezbollah murderers of over 300 U.S. Marines and officials.
Sutherland frequently advised then-Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, which led to leniency by DHS officials in enforcing immigration laws against Muslim illegal aliens and travelers in our nation’s airports, among other things. Sutherland and Shora were in frequent contact, as were Chertoff’s top deputies on his behalf. And ADC’s Hamad was solicited by DHS official Brian Moskowitz a/k/a “Abu Moskowitz” (Immigration and Customs Enforcement Special Agent in Charge for Michigan and Ohio) to submit a stack of resumes of Muslim candidates for ICE agents, who got special interviews for ICE positions, including Hamad’s nephew–who was accompanied to his ICE agent interview by Moskowitz, despite the fact that he didn’t meet even minimum requirements to get the interview in the first place.
Before all of that, the first Homeland Security Secretary, Tom Ridge, flew to Detroit to have dinner with Hamad and other Muslim activists and officials at La Shish, the now-defunct restaurant, which was already widely known at the time to be the house finance organ of Hezbollah.
And, throughout the Bush administration, ADC representatives were constantly invited as observers as DHS personnel carried out rehearsals of their responses to terrorist attacks, letting them in on our first responders’ procedures so ADC officials could inform their jihadist buddies.
So, while it is very disturbing that Napolitano appointed Shora to this committee, it’s not much different from the outrageously pandering efforts toward ADC that the Bushies started. And now the slippery slope has reached its latest–but not ultimate–destination.

In case you were wondering, here are the other members of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC)–as you can see, Shora doesn’t belong (nor does the guy from the Navajo Nation–neither brings any expertise, just whines):
Lee Hamilton, former Congressman and President of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars; Martin O’Malley, Governor of Maryland; Judge William Webster, former Director of Central Intelligence; Sonny Perdue, Governor of Georgia; Raymond Kelly, New York City Police Commissioner; Louis Freeh, former FBI Director and Senior Managing Partner at Freeh Group International; Frances Fragos Townsend, former White House Homeland Security Advisor; Kenneth “Chuck” Canterbury, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police; Manny Diaz, Mayor of Miami, Florida; Jared “Jerry” Cohon, President of Carnegie Mellon University; Leroy “Lee” Baca, Sheriff of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department; Clark Kent Ervin, former DHS Inspector General and Director of the Homeland Security Program at The Aspen Institute; Sherwin “Chuck” Wexler, Executive Director of the Police Executive Research Forum; Harold Schaitberger, General President of the International Association of Firefighters; and Joe Shirley Jr., President of the Navajo Nation.
Just another gleaming, yet pitiful, example of how this dysfunctional agency has gone down the tank. It’s kept dropping new depths of depravity since its conception and continues to strive for the bottom position. Good ‘ol DHS (Department of Hose ’em Squarely) and it’s pathetic offspring ICE keeps on pandering to the very elements we need to get rid of, including puff-princesses like Moskowitz and others, while screwing the real troops in the trenches because ICE doesn’t seem to have better things to do with their time and resources.
What a sad joke!
