Muslim “Hero” Who Was Nice to Robber Not Such a Hero After All

By Debbie Schlussel
Remember the story, earlier this week, hailing Muslim New York convenience store and deli owner Mohammad Sohail for being so nice to a robber, after foiling the robbery–giving him money and food and getting him to inquire about converting to Islam?
With CAIR and the rest of Islamic America overhyping this story, how could you miss it?
But, in fact, Mr. Sohail is not the “hero” the media and Muslim propaganda pimps made him out to be.
Here’s the follow-up story that strangely isn’t getting quite the attention the “hero” story got. You know–wouldn’t want to burst the fake balloon of a Muslim-American hero.

Sohail Mohammad: Muslim “Hero” and Bong Salesman

Authorities had warned Shirley deli owner Mohammad Sohail about his alleged illegal sale of drug paraphernalia several times before raiding his store Tuesday, officials said in a news conference Thursday.
Sohail is among the owners of seven Huntington and Brookhaven shop owners who face civil penalties for allegedly selling illegal pipes, bongs and hookahs. The raid on Sohail’s business came at the end of a day when national media reports hailed the deli owner for showing mercy on a would-be robber, an act captured in a surveillance video.
Sohail is due in court later this month and faces a penalty of up to $30,000, Brookhaven Supervisor Mark Lesko said.
While the sale of pipes and bongs is legal, it becomes illegal when the store owner knowingly sells the items for the use of drugs, officials said. Undercover investigators bought items from Sohail, and the other store owners, after making clear that they would use them for drug use, said Lesko and Suffolk District Attorney Thomas Spota.
“Maybe that was a nice thing to do at the time,” said Legis. Kate Browning (WF-Shirley), who represents the area, referring to Sohail giving $40 and a loaf of bread to the would-be robber. “But I know who he is, I know what he was doing. No sympathy for him.”
When asked late Wednesday night at his store to comment on the charges, Sohail said, “I threw everything in the garbage. I don’t want it anymore.”

Sure he did. Alhamdillullah [Praise allah] for this “hero” of the “Religion of Peace” who sells drug paraphernalia.
Kudos to Kate Browning for speaking out about this guy. She says that the only reason this “Muslim hero” was nice to the robber and didn’t press charges was that he knew that the cops would come to his store and find the illicit merchandise that he was still selling after being raided and warned.
If I were her, I’d get prepared for the Muslims and lefties who will be gunning for her at the next election.
Oh, wait, they’d never “gun” for anyone. After all, it’s the “Religion of Peace.”
Far left blog The Daily Kos called Mohammad, “An American We Can All Learn From.” Uh-huh. Learn from him how? By selling bongs to the infidel Americans?
Like I said, it’s funny how all of the Mainstream Media who were hyping Mohammad’s “heroism” are now strangely silent on his drug bust.
Ditto for the CAIR e-mails. Bet they also remain silent on this latest development in the Sohail Mohammad story.
The lesson here: whenever you hear one of these much-hyped mainstream media “Muslim hero” stories, know there’s always a back story–the real story–that’s not quite so heroic.

Oh, yeah. It was real sickening how the media (even Fox News) wet their pants over this guy trying to portray the “good side” of muzlumz in America and somehow trying to tie what this guy did to the “true meaning” of islam….in particular, how it’s such a “peace-loving” religion. The NY Post even ran an article about what the qu’ ran says about charity. The whole thing is sickening.
In reality, this guy is a criminal. What’s more, he exemplifies what most muzlums do when they come to America: scam the system, and engage in crimes like fraud and theft. This guy is not the exception…rather, he is the rule in the muzlum world.
Naturally, the same LIBERALS who ran with the “charity” story are no where to be found about how this criminal runs his business.

He’s not a criminal yet so he’s still a hero for now.

Why should the absence of the follow on be a surprise? Even something that is the headline item, as in the terrorist attack of a convert to Islam on an army recruiting center, leaving one dead soldier and one wounded, hasnt’ had the liberal coverage on any realistic scale, except to try to misinform about the religion of the perpetrator, try to (falsely) make it seem like he was a lone actor, or had a legitimate reason to “hate the army”. Nothing in the media world is as it seems or as it should be anymore.

Miss Schlussel, Et Alii:
When I first learned of this story, what struck me as odd, was two things.
First of all, after picking up his baseball bat and leaving the loaf of bread, the robber fled the scene.
That indicates he was lying about having a starving family to feed, and he intends to continue his criminal career.
Secondly, the store owner said the 9mm rifle was unloaded.
What good is an UNLOADED weapon?
Maybe the store owner was lying about that.
Thank you.

When I read this story, it sounded too good to be true. Conversion to Islam, indeed. I said as much in my comments of the NY Post web site. I believe the whole thing was a fake job. I could be off base, but I remain a skeptic.

‘Alhamdillullah [Praise allah] for this “hero” of the “Religion of Peace” who sells drug paraphernalia.’
Bet he sells alcohol, too. Which means the “hero” is not only a Muslim, he’s a bad Muslim.

What do you make of the fact that, as the article you linked to makes clear, the guy
Let’s not be so quick to assume this guy is a criminal (innocent until proven guilty, remember?). First, the act he is charged with (selling pipes, etc) is not illegal per se, but requires that it be done knowingly (that is, knowing that they will be used for the purposes of illegal drug use). Additionally, police often conduct raids like this that end up going nowhere – if the prosecution cannot prove that the sale was made with the requisite knowledge, the seller is not guilty of any crime – so this raid does not, by itself, prove any criminality.
Finally, the offense is a regulatory offense, not a criminal one, so the commenter above who compared it to “crimes like theft and fraud” is a bit off base.

Oops, I don’t know why my response got cut off like that. Anyways, what I meant to say was…
What do you make of the fact that, as the article you linked to makes clear, the guy called 911 himself, after the would-be robber left? He didn’t need to call attention to himself, and certainly didn’t need to call in the authorities at that point, so if he was so concerned about his display (which, incidentally, are publicly displayed for any cop to see, why would he call 911?

just another commenter on June 5, 2009 at 1:23 pm

I’d like to know how the media was aware of this story, and who gave them the security video. Maybe this muzlum barbarian staged the whole thing (including calling 911) in order to become famous, fool the Infidel, and drum-up sales. If so, it never occurred to the moron to get rid of the drug paraphernalia. But, then again, who ever said muzlumz had any brains to begin with. If they did, they wouldn’t subscribe to such a violent cult.

Thee_Bruno on June 5, 2009 at 1:37 pm

They are not quite so moderate or American – as all the gushing media stories make them out to be. And the infidels are always fooled in the name of Islam. Not surprising when you consider Islam is not about co-existence and tolerance. Its about submission and jihad. But don’t look for the Left and the MSM to appreciate that any time soon.

Isn’t he totin’ one o’ them thar assault rifles?
Did he get it at a gun show?
Does this make Mr. Sohail a drooling, knuckle dragging, gun clinging hick like the rest of us?
Somehow I haven’t heard anyone berate this guy for using an intrinsically evil-looking gun to protect himself. But then this is the first I’ve heard of the incident.
Is Chuckie Schumer asleep at the wheel?
I guess Mr. Sohail gets some kind of special pass.

One thing is true. If the gun really is unloaded, every criminal in his vicinity now knows it. If it’s loaded, we’ll also find that out soon enough.

What a piece of shit cunt this author is. The Drug war is responsible for far many more deaths than drugs alone. Mind your own business, you worthless, fascist cunt.
