Hollywood Does It Again: “Angels & Demons” Flick Changes Muslim Villain to “Danish” Villain

By Debbie Schlussel
Over the years, I’ve written about the many movies in which Hollywood changes the villain or the terrorist in the original script or novel from a Muslim to something else out of politically correct deference to Islam, the religion of whiners (and ultimately, murderers).
Now, Hollywood continues in this tradition. This week, “Angels & Demons“–the controversial second installment of Dan Brown’s already controversial “The Da Vinci Code”–opens in theaters. My review will be posted at Midnight/early Thursday Morning (stay tuned).
But I’m already learning that the movie has been “disinfected” by Islamopanderers (Director Ron Howard) not wanting to upset our dear friends in the “Religion of Peace,” who might do something “peaceful” if the movie had stayed true to the book.
Reader Michelle writes:

Well, Debbie, Hollywood has chickened out again.
I read the book last year, and the Hassassin was muslim.
I just checked the cast list in IMDB, and the Hassassin is now Danish.
They mustn’t offend, now, must they?
Barf.

Double Barf.
For readers who think Michelle typoed, using the word, “Hassassin,” she actually didn’t. You see the word, “assassin,” comes from the Arabic word, “Hashashin” [hashish user] because Muslim assassins smoked hashish before they murdered.
But don’t worry. They won’t use the word Muslim or “assassin” or “hashish” in the same sentence because that would be wrong. Instead, Director Ron “Opie” “Richie Cunningham” Howard will vilify the Catholics because that would be . . .oh so right. Right?

Howard admitted he took “a lot more creative license” with this adaptation of a Brown thriller, changing both the ending and an assassin, who is Muslim in the book. . . .
One theater trailer, however, claims the church “ordered a brutal massacre” to silence scientists, and another focuses on the “war”
between science and religion, a key theme explored in the book.

And if you look at the credits, the “Assassin” character isn’t played by an Ahmed Baba Ganouche or a Mohammed Tabbouli. Nope. It’s played by some dude named Nicolaj Lie Kaas. Yup, just like reader Michelle said, a Scandinavian name. Because everyone knows that those blond Scandinavians are the original Middle Eastern assassins who introduced us to the marvels of hashish and khat.
Alhamdillullah [praise allah] for Hollywood and Ron Howard. And where’s Pottsie and Ralph Malph (or is that “Mouth”?) when you need them to inject a little sanity?

You can ridicule Jews or make fun of Christians in Hollywood movies but criticism of Islam is off-limits. Liberals don’t want their heads cut off so they play it safe. Creative license means whitewashing Islam’s bloody history out of the picture.

I believe that THE SUM OF ALL FEARS a movie based on the same book from Tom Clancy. In the book, the villans are muslim terrorists. In the movie, the villans are Neo-Nazis. Not surprised about today’s Hollywood political correctness

I had heard that about the sum of all fears-how pathetic, but in a backward way it is a compliment, because they know that we Jews and Christians will not riot, even if we protest, we will not threaten peoples lives. I do disagree that they should not be so fearful, and I think they should get a backbone and try to avoid being p.c.

I recently heard of the 2004 remake of the 1960’s classic “The flight of the pheonix.” In the original movie, two from a group of plane crash survivors volunteer to approach some desert nomads for help. They are found the next day with their throats cut.
I look up details on the new film to look into renting the remake, only to find out they set it in the Gobi Desert!
Obviously, they did not want to show Arabs behaving badly. Needless to say, I lost my interest in this cowardly remake.

Did you hear about the 2004 remake of the 1960’s “Flight of the Phoenix”? The original is set in a desert in the Middle East. In one scene, two plane crash survivors volunteer to approach some desert nomads for help. They are found the next day with their throats cut.
Well, the remake is set in the Gobi Desert!
Guess you can’t show Arabs behaving badly…

Sorry for the double posting!

OK. The LIB media is slobbering over the Pope’s call for a “two-state solution” to the War Against Israel. Fine! He said it and it’s fair to report it.
What I wanna know is: Did the Pope say ANYTHING to confront the manifest policy of anti-Semitism in the Palestinian Authority and Arab League? Did the Pope say ANYTHING to confront Arab terrorism against Jews?
I’d like to think he did that, but you won’t find the LIB media reporting it. I’m sure we have Catholic readers of this blog who support Israel, so I challenge them to inform us.
If the Pope didn’t directly confront those two problems for Jews everywhere (but especially in Israel), I think it’s fair to say that he’s making the the War Against Israel worse through his visit.

Debbie, I don’t blame these Hollywood types for avoiding negative portrayals of Muslims. If I were in their position, I too would prefer the ‘rich guy in Hollywood’ lifestyle to being fatwa’d. Life is too short.

There is much criticism that can be leveled at the Catholic Church, but this movie is infantile.
I am not surprised that the dopey Ron Howard marches on the PC islamo-pandering treadmill.

Good detective work. Iím not going to support a movie that puts left-wing politics before art.

A & D isn’t alone in changing Muslim antagonists to some other “bad guys.”
The last Tom Clancy/Jack Ryan movie “Sum of all Fears” did the same thing.
Obviously, Hollywood is running scared.

This seems to happen a lot. Other references lately on some of the law and order tv serie; CSi has demonized our friends the Serbs; “Behind Enemy Lines”. Indoctrination and MSM (ministers of propaganda.
Watched the old movie “Cast a Giant Shadow” the other night. Hollywood probably wouldn’t make a movie like that today. (Except in truth, Marcus did not have an affair.)

There is a new show called Eleventh Hour that just started(it’s not on right now) that had in one episode bad guys who were… get this MUSLIM CONVERTS I could not believe they did that.

I’m boycotting Hanks like I did Gerrofullo. Useful idiots. I like spending my cash on weapons and conservative books anyway. I will go out today and buy the movie TAKEN today. I will watch that one almost as much as BRAVEHEART.

Try and make a movie like The Siege today and see where it gets you. The ending is Hollywood, meaning they catch the last of the bad Muslim cells and so the threat is over. We could only wish reality was like that.

WC Chrurchill on May 12, 2009 at 12:47 pm

I am a practicing Roman Catholic and a staunch supporter of Isreal. I wish the Pope would have spoken out against Palestinian attocities on his trip.

TexEx on May 12, 2009 at 12:50 pm

I liked The Siege-unrealistic maybe, but it was good and un p.c. for the most part
[M: GOTTA DISAGREE. THE SIEGE’S PREMISE WAS THAT WE WOULD UNFAIRLY LOCK MUSLIMS UP IN INTERNMENT CAMPS IF THERE WAS A TERRORIST ATTACK ON NEW YORK. IT WAS VERY SYMPATHETIC TO MUSLIMS, ESP. THE “LOYAL” MUSLIM FBI AGENT (TONY SHALHOUB). IN REAL LIFE, MUSLIM FBI AGENTS HAVE NOT BEEN LOYAL AND REFUSED TO SURVEIL AND INVESTIGATE TERRORISTS, EVEN TIPPING THEM OFF. ALSO, IN THE SIEGE, THE TERRORIST “CELL” WAS A SINGLE PALESTINIAN, AND THE REST OF THE MUSLIMS IN AMERICA WERE COMPLETELY INNOCENT AND PEACEFUL. DS]

Okay, so they were afraid of upsetting Muslims because the Hassassin was Muslim, but they aren’t afraid of insulting the Vatican by showing their pope and cardinals dead and making their priest a mass murderer? I honestly don’t think that any Muslims would be too offended by the Hassassin’s religion considering Hassassins came from Arabia where almost everybody is Muslim. But if the Vatican got upset over the pope’s appearance in the Pink Panther, why did they think that they wouldn’t get upset over this? If that’s not messed up I don’t know what is…

hassasin, in novel, speak Arabic language. But i don’t belive he is muslim. becaus there are lot of jews and coptic cristines live in the midle east, further more the main villain in the story is ‘comorlongo’, a catholic desiple of Pop,… and more probably the ‘hassassin’ must have dreamed to become an Illuminati as he was a patron of scince..

raf on January 1, 2010 at 11:29 pm

concidering one’s language to understand his religion is quite foolish act,

raf on January 1, 2010 at 11:32 pm

there are alots of conspiracy theorists like mark dice who belive the ‘ Illuminuti’ headed by jews, So it can also be assumed that hasssassin was a centrel asian jew !

raf on January 2, 2010 at 12:56 am

give me a break hollywood is full of jews who hate islam

C: No, it’s actually full of Jews and non-Jews who love Islam and loathe (and self-loathe) Jews and Judaism. DS

cephas abdeel on January 12, 2010 at 7:12 pm

The generalisations you people make shock me so much. Please do some research before you make pathetic statements about Islam being the ‘religion of whiners’ and murderers. Terrorism is forbidden in Islam. Forbidden. Obviously, a fraction of the so-called followers of this religion are bad.. Just like any other religion. Islam IS the religion of peace. Obviously the so-called followers are not practising what they preach. Don’t make this bullshit up about being scared to keep the movie the same as the book because they think they’ll get blown up. I am a Muslim, and I have no intention of ever hurting another human being no matter how offended I get when it comes to the negative portrayal of Muslims. Just like how I assume no Christian has the intention of committing acts of paedophilia.
Also, it saddens me that teenagers like myself are more open-minded than the lot of you. We all accept each other, and don’t make assumptions based on what others believe.
Oh – and don’t act like attacks on Muslims are never made in the media. We have a right to be offended. Christianity and Judaism might be made fun of from time to time – and I am definitely against that as all religions should be respected – but it does not compare to the massive amounts of negativity about Islam that goes around.

Modern day “assassin” or “hashish” cult leader lives in Britain. Go figure.
