This seems to be a stretch. Obama does have Muslim familty members (his father and grandfather, at least) and has lived in a majority Muslim country, Indonesia. So both statements are true without indicating he himself is Muslim. I know he was raised Muslim but I’m satisfied he converted, even if to a cultish sect of Christianity.

Although Obama is worse than Clinton, the Bushes and even Carter (although not by very much), the statement is ambiguous. He is one of what? People with Muslim relatives? Of course the speechwriters thrive on ambiguity, and he probably knows that in our dumbed-down country, the press will twist the statement to just reflect PC tolerance. But his policies are really bipartisan, as you implied in another post. Bush did many of the same things, and the Republicans are presenting no alternative except for a ritualistic vote against his budget, and a Pollyanish alternative that was not meant to be serious. We have never needed a third party like we do today. That’s why I didn’t support McCain; I thought it would retard the growth towards the type of independent movement that is really needed in this country.

Hawaii never confirmed what his birth certificate says, just that they have one on file. Since the one that he shows doesn’t have a location (state or hospital) you have to wonder what he is hiding on his so called “long” form certificate.

He is so drunk with his new powers that he so badly wants to openly state his muslim faith. He can’t because politics prevents him from doing so. It will be interesting to see if his discipline weakens down the road.

I think this is a real stretch. His comment indicates that he has Muslim relatives and has lived in a Muslim-majority country. Not that he’s a Muslim himself.
Come on, the guy is celebrating a Passover seder tonight. How many Muslims would do that???
Obama’s also looking to buy his kids a dog, and Muslims think dogs are unclean. Some Muslim clerics even call for punishment against dog owners.

Barack Obama also has Muslims in his family. His grandfather, as you have always been quick to point out – was a Muslim.
