I did like “True Tomance” (1993) even though it was excessively violent. Tarantino wrote it and Tony Scott directed it.

The only Quentin Tarantino movie that caught my attention was “Jackie Brown.” The rest are violent slugfests, long on style and short on substance.

Oh come on Debbie, “Reservoir Dogs” and “Pulp Fiction” are classics.
How can anyone hear the song “Stuck in the Middle” and not think of Michael Madsen dancing with a gasoline can in his hands?
John Travolta should give the Q-Man 10% of any points he has in future films. I don’t know if that’s a blessing or a curse to have had his movie career resurrected though.

Actuallly he was dancing around with a straight razor prior to mutilating the policeman in the infamous “ear scene”. Every time I see Michael Marsden (playing “Mr. Blonde”) or hear that song (from 1973 by Steelers Wheels) I think of that horrifying scene, a scene that rivals the rape scene in Deliverance for horror in my opinion.

most of Tarantino’s movies (at least the “successful” one’s) are rip off of older unknown films. He used to work in a video store, so by taking the best bits from old, foreign and forgotten films he gets a hit. usually the parts that suck are the parts he creates himself.
plus he likes to have his characters talk, a lot. in that horrible grindhouse Death Car movie they spent the first hour with the girls talking. but talking about the same thing over and over again. by the 15 minute mark I wanted to kill them myself, you were actually glad Kurt Russell killed them just to shut them up.
he is highly over rated, his earlier films were better because he was on a producer/movie company leash. But when he became “a star” and believed his own hype it went right down the gutter.

I watched this trailer last night (just before seeing “Taken”). My immediate thought was that these anti-American American’s are trying to make their own country look bad. Trying to put the U.S. in the same light as real terrorists.
I may be wrong, but I have no faith in the likes of brad pitt.
By the way Debbie, you were 100% correct in your review of “Taken”. Awesome movie. Implausible, but very entertaining.

I saw “Taken” last week – obviously far fetched but a good action flick (James Bond like) and Liam Neeson was excellent. Good Paris locations as well.

I just love how brave Hollywood is to fight a enemy that has been defeated for over 60 years!!
How about doing a movie where the Marines go behind enemy lines in Taliban controlled country along the Pakistan / Afghanistan border and have them kill Muslim terrorists?
I would stand up and cheer at a movie where Bruce Willis demands his solders to come back with “100 turbaned scalps each”.
“For every beheading they post on YouTube, we will post 100. We will bury them alive wrapped in pig carcasses. We will dip their unholy book in pig blood and shove it down their throats. The first man to reach his goal of 100 scalps will receive a Dr. Pepper and a moon pie.”
That’s the speech I want to hear in a war movie.

I love the line in the trailer, “You haven’t see war until you’ve seen it through the eyes of Quentin Tarantino; there are no crimes behind ememy lines…”
Does he somehow have some first-hand experience that outshines the thousands of military personnel who actually lived through it these last 6 years?
Oh yeah… he’s in Hollywood, the only experience that matters.
So I will be anxious to see if that second part is Quentin going against the Hollywood grain, or whether he has chosen to mock those who go to extremes to fight the extreme evil around the world.
