Sarah Palin Revision of Sarah Palin Revisionism: Your Day in Sarah Palin Stupidity Confirmation

By Debbie Schlussel
Back in the fall, when I wrote about the absolutely ridiculous, stupid names Sarah Palin gave her kids, I got a torrent of e-mail from blind Palin supporters making an incorrect correction.
They were all upset that I wrote that Sarah Palin named baby mama daughter Bristol Palin after Bristol, Connecticut, the city where ESPN is located. They said I was all wrong when I wrote that Palin chose the name because she wanted to be on ESPN. They demanded I correct this. They insisted that Sarah Palin named the baby mama for Bristol Bay and its Alaskan beauty, a more plausible and measurably less ridiculous basis for naming your kid.
And the Palins told this revisionist story, so they’d look less absurd and cartoonish during the campaign (didn’t work).

sarahpalin2.jpg

Well, guess what? Your heroine, Sarah Palin (who also supports the bailout bill–so “Alaska can get its fair share,” she says; the only thing she opposed are “earmarks”) confirms the reason for the choice in stupid names. And it’s the stupid reason I originally cited.
Yup, the Palins lied. And now, they’re going back to the original story. I’m sure there’s even more stupidity like this in the Esquire interview she gave confirming this.

Former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin says her daughter’s [sic; name] comes from Bristol, Conn., home of the sports network ESPN.
Palin tells Esquire magazine that when she was in high school, she wanted to be a sportscaster and was disappointed to learn where ESPN was located.
The Alaska governor says Connecticut was too far away. So instead, she says, she named her daughter Bristol.
Palin says she’s still angry with the media over questions about whether her 9-month-old son, Trig, is actually the child of 18-year-old Bristol.

But not too angry that her baby mama daughter isn’t married yet, apparently.
Gee, I wonder if she talks about why she tortured her son and named him Van Palin–the son who will never have legal capacity to change it.
Why are Sarah Palin’s kids’ names important? Well, if she’s that much of an idiot in naming her own kids, it translates into other areas. This woman is clueless.
The entire interview is in the Esquire issue which hits the stands on February 16th.

No link to the “fair share” comment, Debbie? Are you sure you’re not taking it out of context?
Sheesh, you don’t like Gov. Palin…she was virtually the only reason I voted for McCain and, frankly, I thought she really did well against Crazy Joe Biden in the debate despite Biden constantly being allowed to go on and on. To say she’s clueless is, with all due respect, cherry picking.
[RZ: 1) TRY GOOGLE.
2) UM, SAYING THE MORTGAGE BAILOUT WAS ABOUT JOBS AND HEALTHCARE (IT WAS ABOUT MORTGAGES) IS CLUELESS. NOT KNOWING WHAT MAGAZINES AND NEWSPAPERS YOU READ IS CLUELESS. SAYING YOU’RE AGAINST ROE V. WADE BUT THAT YOU BELIEVE IN THE “RIGHT TO PRIVACY”–WHICH IS THE WHOLE BASIS FOR ROE V. WADE–IS CLUELESS. NOT BEING ABLE TO NAME A SINGLE OTHER SUPREME COURT DECISION WITH WHICH YOU DISAGREE IS CLUELESS. IF THAT’S YOUR DEFINITION OF “CHERRY PICKING,” THEN I GUESS IT IS “CHERRY PICKING” TO CALL BARACK OBAMA A LIBERAL. THE WOMAN IS AN IGNORAMUS. WAKE UP. YOU ARE ONE OF THE BLIND TO WHOM I’M REFERRING. I have commented before I am not a big fan of Palin. I would like Jindal or someone like Duncan Hunter. I do like her story. She was not from the “good part of town” as they say (Caroline Kennedy comes to mind), but she showed a lot of character by not having an abortion when her son was diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome before delivery. It is “acceptable” to abort children with such deformities.
Choosing a presidential candidate has now become too much of personal emotional decision rather than an educated choice. The problem I fear with Palin is she will disappoint. She might be in the best position to beat KING HUSSEIN COBRAMA. However, even if she won, would she be strong enough to fight off liberals? I think she would cave. I don’t believe her convictions are strong enough. Conservatives are mad G.W. Bush was a disappointment. Someone like Duncan Hunter would never cave. I believe Bobby Jindal wouldnt either.

Is she really an ignoramous or have you been confusing her too much with SNL’s Tina Fey? What I see is that Palin has some maturing to do as a politician, primarily in dealing with the media. If you look at other politicians, you’d find plenty of gaffes when it comes to things they say as a reporter. As a reporter, I see this kind of stuff all the time.
If this woman’s such an ignoramous, why is it that people I know from Alaska think she’s doing such a great job?
Despite my 20/400 vision, I’m certainly not blind. I’m just one of those people who’s not going to agree with everything you say, Debbie.
Very respectfully,
RZ

1. Sarah Palin solidified the GOP base but John McCain could not win the election just with the base. Therefore her help for 2008 was not as strong as we could have hoped (with the so called centrists and independents). Actually I wonder if any GOP candidate could’ve won the White House in 2008.
2. I would still take Palin over McCain, Joe Biden and the Obamessiah.
3. Yes she gave her kids God awful names but unfortunately a lot of late baby boomer parents give shitty names to their kids. If you do not believe me then go substitute teach in any public school in America and look at the roster of names.

Sarah Palin was wrong to support the bailout, exhibited somewhat childish behavior in naming her children, and has gone along with illegal immigration. Virtually every other Republican, including Jindal, who evaded straight answers on talk show interviews, etc., etc., also supported the bailout. Only Bunning & one or two others consistently opposed it. So she’s got company from virtually every other major politician in the country.
What she does have, and what virtually no other politician has today, are two things: an ability to mobilize large numbers of the base, and an ability to attract immense amounts of scorn and hostility from the elite media. Both of these are plusses to me. and if we look at personal behavior, I would like to know the comparable personal behavior of every other Republican politician, e.g. how many cheat on their taxes, have mistresses, misuse public funds, etc., etc. I’ll bet most of them.
So she’s got faults, but not enough of them to attract disproportionate attention, and she also has positive attributes, such as not being part of the elite, and, as far as I can see, not having obvious contempt for her base, that I respect.
I think the Republican votes against the bailout in Congress are, to a great extent, pretty phony. Making a record when they know it will pass & they will get plenty of pork. So Palin’s support of the bailout, in practice, has plenty of company in Congress, just not on the ‘show’ votes of recent days.

Debbie is right on, again. Palin is a joke.

BB on February 11, 2009 at 11:27 pm

We all have our right to our views in this country or at least for now, maybe not for long though
Anyway, I strongly disagree about Sarah Palin. The extremme left knew that Sarah was a strong threat the minute she came out of the running gate. I found a blog posted by Wade Rathke,2 days after she was picked, basically giving the details of how to destroy her to the American People. I named my son Benjamin, a normal name but I seemed to remember when he was born that they ask his father and I want “we ” wanted to name him. Everone has reasons for what they do, and we are doing God’s job by judging. That is forgotten a lot these days. The media did everthing to completely destroy that woman and her children. Dont you think she has had enough?

Holly on February 12, 2009 at 12:35 am

Wow, I just read elsewhere that you are a Palin hater, and they were right. I respected you an hour ago, no longer. For you to describe the Governor as “stupid” is a joke. You do not know this woman, nor have you ever met her. Only those in your position would utter such an ignorant description. Is she quirky, yeah so F’ing what. What the hell does it matter to you what she names her children? Isn’t Debbie a fat girls name anyway? You see, I can be a shallow bitch too.
[L: HMMMM . . . APPARENTLY, THE PALIN BLIND FOLLOWER DERANGEMENT SYNDROME IS WORSE THAN I HAD EARLIER DIAGNOSED–YOU ARE A PERFECT SPECIMEN FOR STUDY AND URGENT TREATMENT. SINCE YOUR IQ LEVEL HAS LOWERED THE AVERAGE INTELLIGENCE, MOMENTARILY, ON THIS SITE A BIT, HERE’S A TIP: DEBORAH IS A BIBLICAL NAME. TRACK IS THE NAME OF SOMETHING SARAH PALIN RAN ON. AND VAN PALIN IS SOMETHING THAT RHYMES WITH AN ’80S HAIR BAND ROCK GROUP’S NAME. PLEASE HAVE YOUR TANTRUMS ELSEWHERE. DS]

Bobby Jindal to give response to KING HUSSEIN OBAMA’s state of the union. I think the GOP is going to go with the Rhodes Scholar over Palin. Palin will get mowed down in a debate with Jindal. Run Bobby Run. 2012!!
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/02/11/jindal.response/index.html
There will be no gotcha questions. The liberal media’s worst nightmare.

californiascreaming on February 12, 2009 at 9:40 pm

Let’s talk about the real issues, such as the type of chief executive Gov. Palin is. Nearly every other state in the union ran up their budgets in the last four to five years when the money was flowing in. Now, they are all running deficits. Gov. Palin cut the budget (when there was a surplus), gave surplus cash back to the people, and committed billions to savings for the state. Alaska doesn’t need a bailout like so many other states. That sounds like smart executive management to me!!! I wish she was my governor, and someday, maybe President!
[38TITAN: HMMM . . . . AND THEN THERE’S THAT CONTINUING ISSUE OF THE MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR, TAX-FUNDED TOWN SPORTS COMPLEX SHE PUSHED IN WASILLA, A COMPLETE BOONDOGGLE, FOR WHICH THEY’RE STILL IN DEBT. AND THE CREAMERY SHE TOOK OVER AND MADE A STATE-RUN, HEAVILY-SUBSIDIZED BUSINESS, WHEN IT WAS A PRIVATE SECTOR FAILURE AND NOW COSTS THE ALASKAN PEOPLE A TON OF MONEY. WHAT’S THE MATTER–THEY DIDN’T TELL YOU ABOUT THAT IN THE TEAM PALIN TALKING POINTS THAT BROUGHT ALL OF THE PALIN TROLLS OUT TONIGHT? DS]

38titan01 on February 13, 2009 at 12:55 am

At least none are named Paris!
Why are you threatened by Sarah? She is not the one spending bajillions on crap sandwiches.
If you checked out the url I posted, you will see that the only projects on Alaska’s wish list are for Anchorage. Total is not even close to the 22 BILLION on Puerto Rico’s list.
[P: THAT’S THE STANDARD FOR BLIND PALIN SUPPORTERS–PARIS HILTON? HILARIOUS. THANKFULLY, PARIS HILTON DIDN’T BECOME A BABY MAMA LIKE BRISTOL PALIN. HMMM . . . SO SARAH PALIN ISN’T “SPENDING THE BAJILLIONS,” SHE’S JUST SUPPORTING THE BAJILLION-SPENDING SO THAT “ALASKA GETS ITS FAIR SHARE.” AH, THAT MAKES IT SOOOO MUCH BETTER. THANKS FOR THE “CLARIFICATION,” ER . . . DISTINCTION WITHOUT A DIFFERENCE. OH, NOW I GET IT. SHE’S FOR THE BAILOUT, BUT SINCE SHE WANTS LESS THAN PUERTO RICO AND ONLY FOR THE ONLY BIG CITY IN ALASKA, THEN THAT MEANS SHE’S REALLY AGAINST THE BAILOUT EVEN THOUGH SHE’S FOR IT. LOVE THE LOGIC. AS FOR THE REST OF YOUR COMMENTS, THEY WERE LIES AND HAD TO BE DELETED. QUIT LYING TO MY READERS. FACTS ARE STUBBORN THINGS.
I KNOW THAT IT’S IN THE TEAM PALIN TALKING POINTS YOU ALL GOT TONIGHT TO TELL ME I’M “THREATENED” OR “JEALOUS” OR THE OTHER BS I’VE BEEN GETTING FROM YOU DERANGED PALIN SUPPORTERS, BUT REALLY–SENDING ME OBNOXIOUS E-MAILS AND COMMENTS (THIS COMMENT HAD TO BE HEAVILY EDITED FOR TASTE) AT ALMOST 3 IN THE MORNING DOESN’T REALLY HELP YOUR CAUSE. YOU ARE NO DIFFERENT THAN THE BLIND OBAMA SUPPORTERS AND BEFORE HIM THE BLIND BUSH SUPPORTERS WHO GOT ALL MAD AT ME AFTER 9/11, WHEN I DARED CRITICIZE HIS PC STANCE TOWARD EXTREMIST MUSLIMS. YOU GREW TO REGRET BUSH, AND HE WASN’T EVEN CLOSE TO BEING AS DUMB AND IGNORANT AS SARAH PALIN. BUT DUMB ENOUGH. DS]

After reading this column my thoughts were that I felt sorry for you. You see, I know that your grandparents are holocaust survivors and for that I am very grateful and you should be, too, otherwise you might not even be here today. Therefore, I cannot understand for the life of me how you can have the heart to create a “holocaust” of your own against this woman of great integrity. I don’t understand because you see I know others whose families were victimized by the holocaust and all they want to do is to live by the golden rule of “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Whether or not you believe in a higher power, someone had to be protecting and/or watching over your grandparents. That is the reason that I don’t understand why you would want to tear down someone like Gov. Palin who is trying to do the right thing. Yes, she makes some mistakes, but who in this world doesn’t.
[O: WOW, THIS CRAZY BLIND SARAH PALIN FOLLOWER DERANGEMENT SYNDROME IS REACHING NEW HEIGHTS, OR RATHER LOWS. NOW, IF YOU CRITICIZE SARAH PALIN FOR ONE OF HER MANY ACTS OF IDIOCY, IT’S A “HOLOCAUST”?! QUIT WHILE YOU ARE AHEAD, PALIN IDIOTS. THIS TEAM SARAH SITE THAT IS TELLING YOU TO LEAVE THESE BLIND, MORONIC, AND OUTRAGEOUS COMMENTS ISN’T HELPING YOU. IT’S INTERESTING TO LEARN THAT MY GRANDPARENTS STRUGGLING GO SURVIVE IN THE CAMPS AND THEIR FAMILIES BEING COOKED IN OVENS IS THE SAME AS ME POINTING OUT SARAH PALIN IS AN EMPTY SUIT DINGBAT. THANKS FOR SHOWING US WHAT NO-ONE WOULD BELIEVE IF I TOLD THEM. DS]

History will accurately record that Sarah Palin was a very important American. Her pro-life “mama grizzly” feminism, fiscally conservative populism and genuine charisma will make its positive effect and the United States of America will be a better place for having had her as a daughter.
How do we know this? People instinctively remain fascinated by her after this better half of the failed GOP ticket went back to her Arctic home months ago.

John from Philadelphia on February 13, 2009 at 11:44 am

Thank you Debbie for telling it like it is.
I found out about your site from the TeamSarah website. I and many others (estimate is 1/2 the membership)like to lurk there for laughs.
They really need to stay in their own little world where no one talks back to them or they are banned. But its always fun when they venture out into the real world and watch them get slammed 🙂

You have to stoop so low and search so hard for ways to bash Governor Palin that you have to talk about her kids names??
How about Demi moore naming her kids Scout and Rumor? She a liberal, so I guess those names are absolutely scholarly, right?? Let’s all be stupid and make fun of Demi’s kids names. Really!!!, what hypocrisy.
[NJ: REMIND ME AGAIN WHEN DEMI MOORE WAS RUNNING FOR VP AND WHEN SHE HAD WILD IDEAS ABOUT BECOMING PRESIDENT. DS]

NormaJ on February 13, 2009 at 10:24 pm

As per you list of rules of what NOT to name your child:
http://www.debbieschlussel.com/archives/2008/09/those_palin_kid.html
My theory is that Palin was attempting to avoid being ethnocentric in choosing her children’s names & thus did not choose old Biblical names like Sarah or Deborah. She perhaps thought it might be presumptuous to use traditional Native American names for her children & therefore employed culturally neutral compromises.
[A: OH, YES, THAT TERRIBLE BIBLE. IF THAT’S THE CASE–AND I’M NOT SURE IT IS–SOME CONSERVATIVE SHE IS. AND THE NAME “TRACK”? SHE CHOSE THAT BECAUSE SHE LIKES TO RUN (I.E., ON A TRACK). SHE ADMITS THAT. SORRY, THAT’S NOT NATIVE AMERICAN. BUT IT IS STUPID. DITTO FOR NAME THE YOUNGEST KID, “VAN PALIN.” WHO NEEDS THE BIBLE, WHEN YOU CAN RHYME YOUR DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED KID’S NAME WITH AN ’80S HAIR BAND? DS]
