CREEPY to the Nth: Your Tax Dollars @ Work Appeasing the Animal Rights Crowd

By Debbie Schlussel

You may have seen the news story that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Serve is granting a permit to allow the Northern Arapaho Indian Tribe of Wyoming to kill two bald eagles for religious purposes, after the tribe filed suit in federal court, last year.  As you probably know, the bald eagle, our national bird, is no longer listed as endangered.  However, since 1995 it’s been classified as “threatened” and it’s still off limits, pursuant to federal law.

But here’s what you probably didn’t know:  the absurd–and frankly, VERY CREEPY, extent to which our government has gone to accommodate animal rights activists and still allow Indians to practice their faith:

Thousands of Native Americans apply for eagle feathers and carcasses from a federal repository.

Yup, you read that right. In order to allow the Indians to continue to practice their ceremonies involving bald eagle body parts–and at the same time prevent Indians from killing bald eagles–the government maintains a federal repository containing eagle feathers and eagle body parts to which tribal members can apply to take them out, like a library.

Yuck! How sanitary is it for people to use body parts or an eagle carcass that’s been rotting in a repository? Are the eagle bodies refrigerated and specially treated or do they just rot into disintegration?  Either way, it can’t be healthy to be near them.  And I doubt Indians had any of this in mind when their religion set forth requirements of using freshly killed eagles.  It’s ridiculous that we have a storage facility for dead eagles to stop Indians from killing them.  Just let ’em shoot the things.

It just goes to show the lengths to which our government will go–and the health risks which it will force Indians to endure–to give in to the demands and shrieks of the animal rights Nazis.

If this isn’t evidence that PETA a/k/a PUTAh (People for the Unethical Treatment of Animals and humans) has won, I don’t know what is.

But with the issuance of this permit, the floodgates are now open. Pursuant to the Constitution’s Establishment Clause, the government can’t prefer one Indian tribe over another. So, look for more of these permits to be issued, after more lawsuits are filed.  (I’m surprised the gub’mint made an exception for any religion that doesn’t involve sharia and halal v. haram–which seems to be the only exception to the Establishment Clause.)

I studied “Federal Law of Indian Tribes” in law school, and most Indian tribes are considered sovereign nations. So, they should be able to shoot whatever they want, anyway. That they accept these permits is an act that makes them vulnerable to the long reaches of the federal government. Is that really what they want?

In any event, I hope this means the end of the federal repository of bald eagle parts. I wonder how much that costs to maintain each year.

Time for the curator of the federal eagle carcasses storage unit to get a pink slip.

Last time I looked, it was a minimum $10,000 fine for a non-licensed individual to so much as pick up a fallen eagle feather off of the ground. Don’t do it, if you see one. 🙂

Did I miss the part about certain “groups” receiving special treatment from the Feds and other “groups” being deprived.

No, we are all equal under the rule of law.

Is there a beer hall putsch coming soon?

P: Yeah, you missed that part. I wrote about the Establishment Clause and about the government usually giving illegal preference to Islam. Great minds think alike. However, the Indian Tribes have special treatment pursuant to treaties the US signed with them making them sovereign nations. DS

The birds are processed, most likely into skins prepped the same way the Smithsonian would prep specimens for scientific study. Wings, feathers, feet and tails would probably be prepped individually depending on the requirements of the requesting parties. It is a decent way to compromise so that a person’s religious beliefs can be followed after it became illegal to take or possess the eagles. A university professor has to get permits to have specimens for an ornithology course, but I am not sure they can get a permit to process an eagle. Most of the birds are probably hit by cars, and would go to waste if not utilized for educational or religious purposes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Eagle_Repository

I have mulled over a number of things about this story over the hours since my previous comment. Non-birding conservatives are more irate about this story than most birders I have encountered (libs and conservatives, very unexpected, though I have not been all over the web observing this in great detail, just my regular contacts). Bashing Christians and infringing on their rights makes the usurper and his ilk look bad. People hate to see eagles killed, but religion is a First Amendment freedom. Appearing to be pro-First Amendment makes the current regime look better to some, while making the First Amendment look bad to others due to the whole killing eagles thing. The other tribe involved does not want the permits, so that is why the taking must be done off the reservation. The usurper loves to chip away at freedom and would like to do away with the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Wouldn’t be a bit surprised if there is a trap hidden in this for those who love their freedom. I think those criminals in DC always have a hidden agenda, and this is to their advantage to let one tribe kill a couple of eagles. For some perspective on numbers, scroll to the bottom of this and click on National Summary Table: http://www.aphis.usda.gov/wildlife_damage/prog_data/2010_prog_data/index.shtml .

When I was a kid, I knew a boy who later grew up to become a criminal. Some memories from childhood cannot be eaasily erased, and I clearly remmeber how this boy derived great pleasure from torturing animals. His conduct was sickening. Since then, I’ve observed that there is strong correlation between how people treat animals and how they treat people. No, I’m not talking about hunters, per se, but those who specifically enjoy wounding, torturing, and killing animals for the shear pleasure of it–i.e., those with sadistic impulses.

You can also look at this kind of behavior on a national level. Does how a nation treat its animals also reflect the value that nation places on human life? I think the answer is “yes.” Here’s a very recent case in point, the Zoo in Indonesia. As you will note, the animals there have been treated horribly:

http://www.heraldextra.com/news/world/indonesian-zoo-shaken-by-giraffe-death/article_efeaa82d-b534-514d-bb45-189bfa8a2bb7.html

http://news.yahoo.com/photos/animal-abuse-scandal-at-indonesia-zoo-1331653533-slideshow/

Now, the fact is that Indonesia is the world’s most populous Muslim-majority nation in the World. When the people place no value on the lives of animals, and treat them brutally, how can anyone expect them to care a whit about the value of human life? They don’t and that is plain to anyone willing to look at them with open eyes.

Thank you Ralph A. I can’t bare to click on your link as I am weak that way and I get so depressed.

Also, your first point is VERY important for people to know and look out for. It is one of the most glaring examples of a potential psychopath-sociopath and people need to know what these monsters do so they can protect themselves and families (and pets!).

Sociopathy is a HUGE problem in the world today. I want more people attuned to it. The bottom line on them is that they can NEVER be made whole and people have to keep that part in mind to keep themselves protected.

Ralph, google the topics “Islam and dogs” (there’s a fatwa for that), and “halal slaughter” (youtube especially).

As an animal lover I sure as hell hope PETA has not won. Those frauds kill tons of animals everyday. There are so many small animal sanctuaries that work so hard to help care for animals some people forget like Donkeys and Pot-Belly Pigs and Farm Animals like chickens and cows and goats. It’s a labour of love and I love the individual charities that not only work hard to give these animals a great life BUT the struggle of volunteers and their physical hard-work of caring for the animals and also getting funds to keep the organization alive. Those are my charities of choice these days.

Lately, birds are my favourite and so this story makes me sad because the eagle is so majestic and our national symbol. Nice to see Obama-Putin giving the Native Americans the right to practice their Religious freedom while trying to quell the Catholic Institutions. Some animals are more equal than others.

And I am wondering what certain citizens will do when they realize that a dollar from their premium will go towards abortion? After the lying regime said it would not. You’re a good man Bart Stupak!

Since the Liberals of the 60’s got a toe in the door billions of dollars have been wasted. It just proves how sick they are and they don’t have a head for finance or economics because they are either too busy trying to seek and keep power and/or being emotional and stupid.

(PETA was one of the first Liberal things I found out was fraudulent. I used to be a stupid supporter in the late 80’s early 90’s and was turned off by how they were more interested in hiring hypocritical celebrities (like Naomi Campbell…the agro phone-thrower!) than keeping their animal activism on the level. Imagine how I felt when I found out they kill more animals than a room full of animal-haters could ever dream of!!! Also, when they get all weepy about fricken’ bugs…PUH-LEEZE. I hate bugs and rather them dead than near me!!!)

The Comanche Nation set up our own “repository” a few years ago.
It is called SIA

http://comancheeagle.org/home.html

Obama has no regard for Indians. He fired the first Indian state attorney general (of Arizona) Diane Humetewa, an Indian woman, no less.

His connection with the Crow has to do with a casino laundry.

Just like “Animal Farm”, all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others, don’t you know.

Jo on March 14, 2012 at 7:38 pm

Question: in the first place, is it even legal to kill a national bird or a national animal? I thought that that status automatically made them protected

Infidel on March 14, 2012 at 11:06 pm

This smells like an experiment to allow certain groups the right to operate under their own separate laws in place of the constitution.
Before you know it some small and obscure moon god worshiping cult is going to want to set up their own courts.

People from other sovereign nations should not be allowed into the US without a visa, get welfare benefits and open casinos all over the place that would be illegal for the rest of us to do.

A friend works at an animal sanctuary in AZ. He has to collect the fallen eagle feathers from the injured birds and turn them in to be given to various tribes as needed.

I asked a buddy of mine who is Arapaho. He said the government repository is run like a vintage INS circle jerk/dog & pony show. The countless specimens are decomposed, road kill, frozen rotten, putrified and otherwise useless for their needs. This of course justifies a slew of pointy-headed GS-14’s to oversee. We palefaces simply should not be getting ourselves mixed up in their affairs, and that is how I see it. Very correct assessment: about the only thing you can do in the wild, if you see an eagle feather is LOOK at it. Anything else and you are going to jail. Leave them alone. I don’t get it, but there are a lot of things I don’t get.

What I find odd is the fact that a single tribe got a single permission. I know Cheyenne who “order” their eagles from the Wildlife service repository in Colorado. They don’t “kill” anything. They order a carcass. It comes in dry ice packaging.

My Cheyenne friend brought it to me, and I treated it (for lice, bugs, order, rot, etc.) Feathers have to be cared for, or they deteriorate.

davidyeagley on March 15, 2012 at 1:19 pm

I have a problem with the whole soveriegn nation thing. Seems like they too are just a little more equal than the rest of us. Would it not be nice to just have one set of rules that govern all citizens of all the states?

Scottib on March 16, 2012 at 9:41 am

I say they allow the indians to sacrifice some bird brained politicians instead, that would help.

Invaluable analysis ! I was enlightened by the info ! Does someone know if my business would be able to grab a sample Eagle Feathers copy to fill out?
