The professor must be conservative. I always knew my conservative professors in education(very few) because they would assign conservative authors and traditionalists to study as well as liberal authors. Many students when exposed to conservative opinions, such as by Diane Ravitch, E.D Hirsch, Jr., Sol Stern, Frederick Hess, and others would be swayed by their correct opinions on education and then notice the problems with liberal education theorists.
Balance in the classroom is not something liberal professors desire. The liberal professors (many of them) would ban any conservative authors, hoping no students would be exposed to them. Because this professor at ASU has a balance, I believe he must be conservative.

I think you might have a fair shot from the kids. Arizona is a Republican state, many ex-Californians who couldn’t take Californication any more. Hope you get positive feedback. Maybe they can get you and Arianna in the same room, the mother of all debates.

Note: this is the same man that clashed with Alan Dershowitz and was barred from speaking at Harvard after directing threatening editorials towards Mr. Dershowitz through the Wall Street Journal. Rutgers continues to defend his right to tenured “academic” freedom of speech.

Debbie, I smell a trap. The left wing professors always act evenhanded at first and try to smoke out the Republican kids. Then once they are known, these kids get the bad grades. I ususally made a point of regurgitating whatever the professor thought, thereby making myself bullet proof.

Both of you guys could be right. Unless we are
part of the class we can’t know.
What gives me caution is that it is an English
class. Do the students have enough of a historical
perspective to make good judgments or be easily
swayed by “touchy feely” opinions. Are they
mature enough to make decisions ? Not so sure !
But it is better than the ususal crap.
