WTF?! Israel Frees Islamic Jihad Terrorist to Avoid Palestinian Anger

By Debbie Schlussel

If you need any further evidence that Israel is now officially a wimpy nation without the resolve to fight terrorists–much like the U.S.–Khader Adnan a/k/a Khader Adnan Mohammad Musa is Exhibit A.  Adnan is a top official of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, who served as the group’s spokesman and urged Palestinians to put on suicide belts and kill Israelis by blowing up body parts.  He’s also reportedly involved in the planning of PIJ terrorist activities.  PIJ is responsible for numerous homicide bombings and attacks on innocent civilians in Israel.  A PIJ bus-bombing murdered New Jersey college student Alisa Flatow.  But Israel announced it will release the Islamic Jihad terrorist “out of concern about unrest in the West Bank if he should die” because Adnan is now on a hunger strike.

Khader Adnan: Nothingyahu Released Islamic Jihad Terrorist b/c of Palestinian Public Opinion

Can you imagine if America released hunger-striking Gitmo terrorists out of concern for Al-Qaeda and Muslim world outrage?  Well, I guess we can all imagine it, since America has released hardened murderer Guantanamo detainees to the free world for a lot less.  See, I told you America and Israel were a lot alike (and, now, in many ways that aren’t so great).

Oh, and Israel also wanted to avoid allowing its far-left Supreme Court from ruling on its emergency provision permitting administrative detention of Islamic terrorists without trial or formal indictment. Hey, just like America, again! Remember how the Bush Administration wimped out on the same issue, when it dropped having courts review the identical American provision in the case of Jose Padilla a/k/a Abdullah Al-Muhajer?

A Palestinian militant jailed for more than two months without trial forced Israel to agree Tuesday to release him after a hunger strike spurred concern about unrest in the West Bank if he should die.

Khader Adnan, a member of Islamic Jihad, deemed a security threat by Israel, ate after abstaining for 66 days, a protest that turned him into a cause célèbre among Palestinians and among human-rights activists.

I love how “human rights activists” are always the ones who support the terrorists that openly try to take the ultimate right–life–away from other humans.

Mr. Adnan’s petition to Israel’s Supreme Court had highlighted Israel’s controversial use of administrative detention, a decades-old emergency provision permitting the imprisonment of Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza without a formal indictment or trial.

But hours before a High Court hearing Tuesday that was moved up because of his medical condition, Israel relented by reaching an agreement with Mr. Adnan’s lawyers allowing him to go free April 17 in return for ending the hunger strike.

Defending Israel’s actions, an official there said Mr. Adnan has been jailed seven times for his involvement in an Iranian-backed organization considered a terrorist group by the U.S., Canada and Israel.

But the official said there was concern about the fallout if Mr. Adnan died. Israel also faced protests from foreign governments and other groups.

“We faced a serious dilemma,” the Israeli official said.

HUH? What dilemma? The world hates Israel no matter what the country does. You cannot maintain adequate national security if you run it at the whim of the international community of Jew-haters, Third-World despots, and leftists. (I guess I could’ve just used “Jew-haters,” since the rest is redundant.) If America ran itself according to protesters, the Occupy Wall Street Crowd would be living in the mansions (though some of ’em, like Kanye West, Susan Sarandon, Russell Simmons, Barack Obama, and Alec Baldwin already are). It’s absurd.

Palestinians demonstrating in solidarity with Mr. Adnan clashed with Israeli soldiers Tuesday outside the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Palestinians and Israeli rights activists said it was the first time they could recall Israeli authorities being pressured into committing to end a term of administrative detention.

And, sadly, with this boneheaded precedent, it won’t be the last.

Mr. Adnan’s four-month term was scheduled to end May 8, but Israeli military courts could have renewed the administrative detention for an additional time period. Israel’s justice minister said it agreed to shorten the term to account for the weeks he was detained in interrogations by security authorities.

“It’s an interesting development,” said Kadoura Fares, a former Palestinian cabinet minister who helped fund the legal aid for Mr. Adnan. “Just a couple of days ago, he was considered a dangerous prisoner who couldn’t be released. Now they’re saying that he’s not dangerous.”

Well, for once, I agree with a Palestinian a-hole. This guy is dangerous. He’s a terrorist. Now, you release him into the general population–as if he’s not dangerous and not a terrorist–because you’re worried about what the Judenrein neo-Nazi Palestinians think?!

Disgusting. Israel has lost its moral imperative. Lost its will.

Once again, tough-talking Nothingyahu speaks loudly and carries a toothpick.

Some may question the law Israel used to hold this scumbag terrorist. Well, it is a holdover from British rule, and the British still have this law on their books. It is not a law Israel created, but inherited, and what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Besides, what law was Shalit held under? Under what law were the Fogelman’s butchered? Under what law was Meir Kahane murdered? Under what law is the rocketing of Israeli civilians allowed?

Israel is heading down the path of destruction, and it is the liberals within, not the Arabs, that are the biggest enemy.

Remember the Passover Seder, where it is stated that Laban, the enemy within, is more dangerous than the enemy without.

Jonathan E. Grant on February 22, 2012 at 1:33 pm

Jon, leftists in Israel’s Justice Ministry and security service made this happen.

If Israel has to cater to Jew-hating Arabs, the Euro-trash and American leftists on its national security, its headed for demise.

Why should the Jewish State give a rat’s rear end what they think? It should have told them to mind their own business!

But the real issue isn’t really one Arab terrorist. As you correctly pointed out, the real danger to Jews in Israel in fact comes from fellow Jews who make the Arabs work easier for them. Don’t be shocked Israel has kapos!

There are plenty of Jewish anti-Semites who want to see the country disappear. And as you noted, the greatest enemy is not from without, it is the enemy within one’s own gates. That’s exactly the kind of enemy Israel doesn’t need.

They probably figured better he be released 2 mos early rather than have him die of starvation as a martyr. I believe we force feed intravenously here for death row inmates that refuse to eat don’t we? The pressure probably came from DC too as they seem to be the Muslim Brotherhood’s and Palistinians’ best buds these days.

CJ: They have plenty of martyrs already. One more won’t make a difference. This release will make a difference and now all of them will go on hunger strikes to get out (and they could all be martyrs, too). This was a boneheaded movie. Terrible policy. Israel would be better off with this guy dead than alive AND free to return to terrorist activity. You don’t reward terrorists with freedom. Period. DS

CJ on February 22, 2012 at 1:36 pm

Debbie, I wish Israel was a Jewish Singapore.

I guarantee you if Israel had the mandatory death penalty for terrorists, there would be no terrorists around to make a mockery of Israel’s justice system.

The bottom line is one terrorist out on the lam is one terrorist who presents a danger to every Jew in Israel.

Some Jewish child is going to get killed because of the Israeli government’s proverbial stupidity.

As a former prison psychiatrist, I dealt with hunger strikes.

    Solution:

Strap patient into four point restraints. Shove NG tube up nose down esophagus. Check placement with stethoscope. Commence feeding liquid meal. Do not allow patient to vomit, forcibally holding mouth closed. Remove G-tube once sufficient time has passed so that vomiting is useless. Remove restraints. Repeat as necessary.

No muss, no fuss, no problem.

How is refeeding carried out on eating disorder units with recalcitrant anorexic patients?

The horror.

Nick Berg is not alive to see this.

Why couldn’t Israel just let the potential Islamic terrorist-mass murdering scumbag die?

Why do Stupid Jews feel cravenly compelled to save the lives of those who hate them and who would kill them given the opportunity?

Israel’s surrender to Islamic terrorists only guarantees more Jews will die in the future. And the terrorists have learned that Israel will save their lives in the end any way because Israel’s leaders are more concerned with how their country is depicted in the world media than with the security of the Jewish State.

That is what allowing the PIJ terrorist to live for stands. Its not a good precedent to set.

NormanF on February 22, 2012 at 2:03 pm

I’m of the Thatcher school when it comes to hunger strikes by terrorists. If they choose not to eat, fine by me. I would have left him in his cell, and if he dies, that’s one less terrorist we have to deal with.

What I found disturbing was an interview with Israeli spokesman Mark Regev conducted by Hala Gorani (the name is Middle Eastern) during which she repeatedly hectored Regev (she probably saw herself defending a Muslim “brother”) over this “unjust” treatment, while Regev insisted Israel was doing all in its power to prevent any harm coming to Adnan. There’s a rabbinic dictum that if one is compassionate to the cruel, in the end one will be cruel to those deserving of compassion. Adnan deserved no compassion.

Apropos, I recall a wider hunger strike in an Israeli prison some years ago. Israel helped end it by showing striking prisoners videos of fellow prisoner Marwan Barghouti – one of Arafat’s terror coordinators, convicted of involvement in five murders – enjoying private dinners. (Yeah, “special” prisoners get special treatment in Israeli prisons. Sami Kuntar, convicted of four murders, including a child, earned a Masters Degree in prison before being released as part of a deal for the bodies of two IDF soldiers.)

Israel also pays terrorists social security and disability pensions!

Really! While Israel terror victims must do without and get shafted, abused and treated with contempt by their own country, as we saw in the corrupt Shalit deal, Arab terrorists are treated with the highest honors verging on grudging respect.

If I was an Arab in Israel, I would want to be a terrorist too and murder as many Jews as I can. Nothing terrible is going to happen to me, the Jews themselves will give me the best home and the best food, I can hope to exchanged someday and get my freedom to murder some more of them again and on top of it the Jews will give me social security and disability payments for my life’s work.

The way I would see it, is the Jews spit on their own people. Why I should I have reason to be afraid of them, let alone to respect them? If I was an Arab terrorist, all of the above would lead me to conclude the Jews are nothing more than a bunch of weak and cowardly animals who deserve to be slaughtered. They give no indication whatsoever they act like human beings should in defense of their loved ones and their country.

Sad and true. The Talmudic adage only tells us when Israel treats the wicked with kindness they don’t deserve, it will reap more cruelty from them. I don’t expect Israel to stop rewarding evildoers anytime soon.

WTF is right!this is what you get when there are foolish commies in government like bongo because he wants to release all the gitmo ragheads into america.we are not going to call them pisslamic terrorists any more we will refer to them as just misunderstood protesters. like you said this will only lead to more attacks on us by pisslamic scum but maybe ti will wake us up enough to get rid of the appeasers.then we can give pisslam some to think about like a 5kilo ton bomb on tehran

BRUCE on February 22, 2012 at 3:51 pm

Not that I disagree with DS bc she is right as most of the time, but maybe the international pressure is getting to the powers that be in Israel and don t forget that our own mooooslim in chief has all but declared Israel a non grata nation,Israel is wrong in doing what they did,but the leaders are ridiculed and shame by the global comunity on a rwgular basis and now our own government has joined in on the “Let s bash and shame Israel into surrender”wagon,so this is no surprise what I fear is that more pressure by our moooslim administration will endanger the future defense of our friend Israel….my papi and me still pray for the peace in Jerusalem, may the G-d of Abraham,Jacob and Moses guard the city of bread and all His people.

Juan on February 22, 2012 at 4:18 pm

Europeans and “human rights” activists are always concerned about Jew-killers but never their victims. And Israeli “leaders” are willing to choose risking the lives of Israelis rather than get verbally attacked by the international community.

Laura on February 22, 2012 at 5:19 pm

Miss Schlussel, Et Alia:

What if all this is just a ruse orchestrated by Israeli intelligence agents?

With contemporary technology, a released prisoner could easily have secretly implanted tracking and/or eavesdropping devices, allowing Israel to monitor everyplace he goes, along with everything that is said or done in his presence.

Of course, if his cohorts figure this out, or suspect it, then even if it isn’t true, just how welcome is this returning prisoner going to be among the Islamic community?

So, really, when you think about it, there might be a couple of valid reasons why the government of Israel would make such a public show of releasing this (or some other) prisoner.

Sneaky, huh?

Heh! Heh! Heh!

Thank you.

Debbie don’t worry too much about this particular terrorist. After the forthcoming IDF operation in Gaza, G-d willing he and all his associates will be forgotten.

A1 on February 22, 2012 at 6:34 pm

I don’t think the issue is the Israeli leadership’s boneheadedness, cowardice, or folding under the pressure of “opinion.” Israel is not a democratic republic by any objective standard. Its elites are not bound in any way by the popular will, and in fact do not think of themselves as “Jews,” but as “Israelis.” So, they don’t care when Jews die, as Jews are the “other.” Indeed, these elites cultivate the Amalekites as a force against Jews in order to perpetuate a situation of war that keeps Israel a garrison state, controllable by the elites.

Ordinarily, I am very suspicious of what might be called conspiracy theories. However, even if some of these clowns are not knowing conspirators, they behave “as if” they were.

skzion on February 22, 2012 at 7:44 pm

The Israelis couldn’t strap him to a gurney and give him an intravenous shot of glucose and vitamins?

You’re right, Debbie. The Israeli government long ago lost the will to fight. But there are, I hope and believe, plenty of Israelis who are willing to fight, and if the government ever gets its guts and brains back, they will fight.

Miranda Rose Smith on February 23, 2012 at 3:24 am

The world hates Israel no matter what the country does. You cannot maintain adequate national security if you run it at the whim of the international community of Jew-haters, Third-World despots, and leftists.

I know it’s wrong-I know one shouldn’t rejoice at ANY human suffering-but it warms the cockles of my heart to think that if the European leftists-the “International Community”-ever get their wish and Israel is, G-d forbid, destroyed, the Arabs will be free to rampage through Europe, acting like Arabs. You think the Israeli government is demoralized and unwilling to fight? Wait till the E.U. goverment has to fight the Arabs. As I’ve been saying for years, the European Union army couldn’t fight off a Brownie troop armed with plastic baseball bats.

Does anyone besides me realize that, except for a few brainwashed, ignorant 18 year old dimwits, I don’t think there’s anybody alive stupid enough to believe Israel is an apartheid country? Whoever heard of an apartheid country with no miscegenation laws? People call Israel an apartheid country out of projection, because they want to ban and ostracize and expel Jews. Also, they know that the Israelis are basically the most decent people on the planet, the ones most horrfied of racism. They hope that some Israelis, at least, will say “Oh no! We don’t want to act like those horrible, evil, racist, white South Africans! We’ll just let the Arabs walk in and slaughter us and our families!”

Miranda Rose Smith on February 23, 2012 at 3:50 am

I believe in the old street strategy of if you can’t beat them confuse the f**k out of them, but this is ridiculous. Imagine if we captured Osama Bin Ladin alive and he went on a hunger strike. “Oh the pity, oh the humanity” give me a break.
This guy in no Nelson Mandela, or Bishop Tutu, not even close to MLK. He makes Malcolm X look like Ghandi, give me a break.
Now if Israel really wanted to make a statement in the humanity department they could come to the aid of their civilian sworn enemies in Syria in the name of “never again” to stand by while genocide is being perpetrated on women and children by Assad.
Now that would take the wind out of the Pan Arab State hypocrites who only sent observers, and confuse the hell out of the Muslim Brotherhood and “Arab Street”.
Admittedly a terrible gamble, but an added bonus is how irksome and grating this would be for Assad’s buddies Iran and Russia, not to mention the UN General Assembly all sitting on their collective ass. This would send a message of strength instead of the message of weakness now being broadcast to the jihadi street dancers. Whose catering that party? Israel of course.

That would lead to a war with Syria.
