Lara Fabian Boycotted for Performing in Israel; Madonna Begins Tour in Tel Aviv
Regardless of what you think of Madonna and her other politics (and I’ve been critical of some of those), she refuses to bow to the pressure of anti-Israel, anti-Semitic jihadists and their boycotts against the Jewish state. As I noted previously, she and her daughter, Lourdes, literally wrapped themselves in the Israeli flag in concert in Tel Aviv. She begins her newest concert tour in Tel Aviv in May, again bucking the jihadists and ignoring their terrorist threats against her. That deserves plaudits. And you can write her and her management team to thank them (details here, thanks to readers Miranda Rose Smith and Jonathan Grant).

But there are other artists who aren’t as rich or well known as Madonna, who’ve also ignored Muslim calls to boycott Israel, to their peril, like singer Lara Fabian, who deserves our recognition and support. Fabian, a beautiful Italian-Belgian singer with Canadian citizenship, is now banned in Lebanon because she performed in Israel and expressed her love of the country at events elsewhere. She also once committed the “crime” of singing in Hebrew. And the locale that banned her is of note because it’s a Lebanese casino. Because gambling is prohibited by Islam, only Christians and completely secular Muslims generally own casinos (though some hypocritical, “devout” Muslims own casinos as is the case in the Palestinian Authority). And even they are boycotting those who perform in Israel, none of them “moderates” or “tolerant” when it has anything to do with the “evil Joooos.”
I want to thank Asad Ghsoub and his fellow hatred-filled Israel boycotters for introducing me, my friends, and readers to Ms. Fabian, because I’d never heard of her before, and she has a terrific voice. Many of her songs are in Italian, but below is her version of The Carpenters’ “Close to You.”
More:
Lara Fabian has performed in Lebanon twice before. . . .
Fabian, who was scheduled to perform on February 14 and 15 at the Casino du Liban in Jounieh, announced on Thursday that her upcoming concert has been cancelled amid an intense boycott campaign by local activists. At issue is her record of involvement with Israel.
Fabian held a concert in Tel Aviv in March 2010 and participated in the Cercle Ben Gourion festival in Brussels in June of last year. In May 2008, she performed at a special concert in France to commemorate the anniversary of the creation of the Israeli state. At the end of the performance, she can be heard telling the audience, “I love you, Israel.”
In response to the announcement, Asad Ghsoub, an activist for the Campaign to Boycott Supporters of Israel in Lebanon, which spearheaded the campaign against Fabian said, “We can’t be but happy because she knows that what she did has consequences… She cannot say ‘I love you Israel’ and expect us to welcome her. She would be out of her mind if she thinks we’re going to welcome her.”
Ghsoub said over the last few days, representatives from the campaign met with officials at the Casino du Liban along with reps from the state’s economy and culture ministries. They also sent an email to Fabian notifying her of the boycott. . . .
On December 13, the Free Patriotic Movement, Hezbollah, the Amal Movement and several other parties signed a statement calling for the boycott of “all concerts, companies and troops supporting the Zionist enemy.”
Welcome to yet another episode of “Your Day in Islamic Tolerance.” Ah, the triumph of Arab “civilization.”
I ask you, my readers, to consider buying Lara Fabian’s music to show your support for her support of Israel and her brave stand in refusing to give in to Muslims’ Jew-hatred. If you buy, “Best of Lara Fabian,” or any of her other CDs or MP3s at Amazon through the link above or the icons, below, a small portion of the proceeds will go to help support this site, too.
Get Yours . . .
And don’t forget to write a note of thanks to Madonna for being brave on this front, too . . . even if, like me, you don’t approve of the other things she does. On this important issue, she’s on the right side.
Saying no to jihadists and yes to Israel used to be just the right thing to do. Now, it’s also the courageous thing to do. And it deserves to be applauded.

Good on Madonna and Lara Fabian. So sick of islamo-pandering and islamo-shakedowns and extortion.
